Today:Had most of the day to myself, while the rest of the family did some tramping around Toteranui. That's also where I started on my MTB, going over Gibbs hill, then down to the coast, following the main road + some diversions all the way to the bottom of Takaka hill. Found 20 odd caches along the way. Good weather, nice scenery, great success! This cache:Nice quick find at GZ, tftc!
Why did I think it would be a cow? Still cute. Hello from Seattle, geocaching ground zero! Staying down the street and needed a cache today to maintain my vacation streak, so took a quick walk down after dinner to nab this one. Thanks!
On our way back to Nelson we stopped here and there to walk and cache, long time sitting in the car is nothing for me, so great to see so many caches out here Found wellTftc
Staying in Pohara for Easter weekend. After a look around Takaka, this was a quick find on our way out of town. Thanks for the smiley.
We found this one easily on our way back, travelling on to Takaka and Motueka.
Bit of a big day today, I have to do a drivetest on the Kaiteretere South vodafone site, then a highway drive between Motueka and the Spit. But I intend to grab a couple of minute caches for the South Island 300 minutes challenge.
Another set of minutes sorted, and another quick find, thanks for the placement.
TFTC bumandworker, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 11 find(s) of 12 today, making this find #3876

Carried on to find some more treasures and made it here.
Some walnut trees along the way - too early for harvest though, as I came earlier in the year.

A quick find with Tregearp after visiting the local market this morning. All in good order. Signed log and replaced as found. Thanks b&w for another cache.
SJT_NZ had a few things to pick up from the local farmers market so with rain coming our way we decided to head over the hill to some rain as well but pick up a few caches on the way towards the big peak. This was a quick find and all in good order.
Quick p&g. Unfortunately there was a cyclist on the bike trails when we stopped. TFTC
There were some awesome rocks just before this and a splendid sequoia just after and in between, a cache. A good day out from Motueka on our Te tau ihu o te waka holiday for PWs. Nelson tomorrow. Tftc
A nice quick find thanks. Last for the day.
Another long weekend, another wee road trip, this time up to Golden Bay area, with Ms_KR. The daylight hours are are certainly getting shorter, but luckily the weather is mostly dry and warm. Today we cruised Over to Golden Bay and back to Motueka.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

#8549. I have been staying in Takaka this week but today is time to head back over the hill to Nelson. I decided to locate some of the caches along the main road on this side of the Takaka Hill. This was one of them. Parked on the newly sealed road and had a look at the carved statute. Cache was found in the first place checked. However the logbook was soaking wet and unsignable. Found a fresh sheet of paper in the car and a small plastic bag. Signed the replacement logbook and returned the cache where found. Thanks bumandworker for hiding it here.
Day 2 of 3 day trip for Capperz and I with the overall goal of dropping off some keen bikers at the Heaphy track start near Collingwood and not failing to pick them up late on Sunday morning at the finish north of Karamea.
We had one job then, and happy to say we did it.
On the way, of course, we found some caches.......
Takaka to Seddonville, so the goal was caches over the Takaka hill on our side of the road only; virtually nothing between Motueka and Westport; then up the coast targeting some historic coal mining communities and a few others before settling down in Seddonville for the night.
TFTC to all COs.
No problems here, first find of the day after a DNF first up.
TFTC Bum.

Up bright and early and caching off the list. Nice easy find here, T F T C b&w.
Day 2 of the trip dawned bright and early. In fact we were on the road before dawn turned up, and a target of all the 'on the left' caches up the Takaka hill was the aim. Then it was a straight run to Westport via Motueka valley with a couple of mid-journey caches to get on the way. Ending the day with a trip to both the Denniston and Millerton mine and cache circuits and a glad visit to Seddonville to stay for the night at the backpackers at the old school.
This weekend I've offered up my services as a getaway driver. Nothing as dramatic as a criminal bank robbers assistant, more a chance for a group of work colleagues and associates to get away to do the Heaphy Track on their bikes. Ably assisted by ricardinho.nz as a co-pilot and driver of the geocache seeking devices utilising the route which I'd done a full and comprehensive list of before departing. The plan was fairly simple; early finish Friday arvo and take them over from Woodbourne to the Collingwood/Brown's Hut end of the Heaphy and collect them from Kohaihai bridge end late on Sunday morning. A late start on the Friday to get underway as a result of a delayed ferry arrival had us around 30-40 minutes late getting on the road and some fluffing in Motueka for dinner added enough minutes on to mean that we got to the track end on dark, and never got to the digs in Motueka until around 8.45 PM. There was still some time for a bit of 'in the dark' caching where I got 3 finds before hitting the sack, after a couple of refreshments, and a conversation with an aggressive illustrator from Wellington.

Heading to Nelson from Takaka this morning to pick up our friend from the airport and stopped by to grab a few on the Takaka Hill since the traffic was lower in the early morning. Quick grab.
Thanks for the cache bumandworker.

Again an easy find but a new chance to stop during the drive. Thanks for all your caches.
Area a lot busier than when we came through this morning. Pulled up beside cache and made a quick grab and sign. tftc
Only animal here was a deer - a bit behind te times as it still had christmas decorations on. Thanks for the placement bumandworker
This looks more like a deer ...great piece of carving ..great specimen beside it as well thanks B and W for the cache
One of those things you wouldn't see from a car as you go by. Thanks for the cache.
Staying in Pohara for a few days' break; today is my expedition to the Cobb Dam - and this is my 1st cache a long the way.
Great weather (after rain yesterday) and i'm exited to be out & about, exploring.
Thanks for this cache, b&w; I don't think I would have noticed the "feature " otherwise - driving by myself.

The feature was looking very festive today and raised a smile as I made my way to the GZ.
Found with the moo-nimum of bother.

As we pulled up here a lady walking down the road crossed to the car, opened a door and saw the seat was occupied so walked around the other side to find the same. She thought we had stopped to give her a lift even though she wasn't hitch hiking and no words were exchanged! Once that matter was dealt with we turned the car and parked at GZ to make a quick find.
Thank you bumandworker.
Thank you bumandworker.
After we ground to a halt realising we overshot GZ somebody walking along the road thought we offered an unsolicited lift. It's a mentality I know but never thought of after spending to much time in the big smoke. So we had to disappoint and make a u-turn before we could make the find. Thank you Bumandworker
I normally just plug away, letting the calendar do its own thing, so was rather surprised when I discovered that this was a long weekend, only 4 days ago. What to do? So up before dawn and off to see my dad in Nelson. A two hour drive. Hope to get there before dinner time! While here I might as well do some work on the Oriental Bay earth cache, and that means a drive over the hill to Takaka. Wow! Someone has been busy! There are WAY more caches here than when I was last here!
A quick find. Not many cows about here, they must all be hiding from the sun!

Very hot day to be caching but heading back over the hill. A little tricky with the motorhome but road wasn't to busy. Tftc
Is 'that' a cow...? Doesnt look very cow-like to me. It has perked up ears and what looks like collar - looks more like a dog I'd say. A quick P&G anyway. Thanks for the cache
A lovley cow...
On our travel through New-Zealand we visited some really nice places.

NZDi and I have been planning a long weekend in Golden Bay for a month or so and today these plans came into fruition. Of course a long weekend out of town would not be complete without the odd cache thrown in and so a few caches were planned along the way. The weather back in Blenheim had been crap all week and the forecast for the weekend was not that flash either, however as soon as we got across the Whangamoa's we could see this part of the country was bathed in sunshine.
Today is the final day of our long weekend and the caches we get are essentially going to be Park n Grabs on the road trip home. This has been my best geocaching weekend ever and Golden Bay has some awesome caches to find. We have only scratched the surface and are looking forward to coming back in the not to distant future.
The highlight of the trip would have to be the Rawhiti Caves Earthcache, but there are too many other awesome caches as well. Thanks to all the CO's (especially the prolific bumandworker) for all your caches.
Another QEF PnG on the way out of town. We couldn't work out if the carving was of a dog or a deer.
TFTC B&W

We had one day left before starting the Abel Tasman walk, so we were looking for some caches.
A long trip later from Frankfurt via Dubai, Bangkok and Sydney to Christchurch we finally started our three and a half weeks vacation. We tried to see as much as possible from New Zealands nature and also look for some caches. During the whole trip we could even find more than 100 caches .
We finalized the round trip on our very first day by booking some great walk huts and decided to travel clockwise around the Southern Island. It's hard to say which were the highlights, so I would say the whole vacation is our highlight .
Many thanks to all cache owners for showing us a lot of great places! T4TC!

Thanks to all the owners of the geocaches that we found today on our way to Kaiteriteri, Marahau and Takaka. We enjoyed searching the caches and watching the beauty of this part of New Zealands Southern Island.

The third and final day of our Labour weekend trip to Golden Bay. There was quite a bit of rain overnight and some drizzle early morning, but mainly it was fine during the day so the weather didn't really put much of a dampener on our trip (apart from long wet grass and mud at some locations).
Was expecting to see a cow carving, so was surprised to see the dog and wondered if the CO should visit spec savers....Then re-read the cache description, spotted the cows over the road and realised what it was all about. TFTC.

Easy find and not a sole about this early on a drizzly Sunday morning .. Cache in good dry condition but not much room left on the paper to sign (I'm the 100th to find) so I put some more in .. Thanks for the fun!
ps: the attributes made me giggle

TFTC. It wasn't until I was close to GZ that I saw the reason for the cache - I thought it was a reindeer - to much Christmas spirit in me!!
Either the cow is in disguise or it's a curious local breed. #6 for the day. TFTC
Admired the ugly reindeer and compared it with the cows TFTC for this experience
Had flat batteries so didn't know the cache was there BUT we stopped when we seen the carving THEN we spotted a suspious pile of stones. Cow has Christmas clothes on.

Once festivities were over and the temperature had cooled a little, it was out for a spot of caching to maintain my current streak. Another quick find. Son3 fascinated with decorated reindeer. TFTC.
