OCW PelDroedGwin and geodog Peppa Exploring the area north of our campsite. This one was great fun. The CO did a great job, all those years ago, creating this cool track. The views from GZ are fabulous! Picked up a pathtag and dropped a couple of my own. Have a FP from me. Tftc
TFTF. Very hot and windy day and our first day out in a while!Beautiful views!Left a path tagHappy caching and safe travels!

We enjoyed the ride in and the spectaculre views at the end.
Thanks MalanDi

Last day in Venus Bay so out with ILT collecting the last of the locals. Track in is hard (no sand) but rocky and corrugated in sections - no problem for the Patrol. Spectacular reward with the beach. Thanks MalandDi
I ignored the 4x4 sign and went in anyway. Drove most of the way to the cache and managed to get out with 4 tyres still pumped up. TFTC.22222222
We made a decision to take a two week break and head to the Eyre Peninsula. We were keen to return to Coffin Bay and also to explore some less travelled areas.
We had three nights based in Cowell. One of the highlights there was a drive along the 4WD fire track along the top of the Drake Range.
Then we headed to Port Lincoln for five nights. We have been out to Memory Cove on one day and to Coffin Bay NP on another. We have explored the the town, seen stromatolites, and found a number of great eateries. And some special caches too.
Then it was up the west coast to Venus Bay.
Today we headed to Woolshed Cave then it was off to Venus Bay Conservation Park. Some fun 4WDing on a hot day.
And then on the way back to Venus Bay we headed out to the Surf beach to grab this one. More 4WDing. And a sandhill that we didn’t get over at the first attempt.
But once again the cache was right where expected.
Thanks again MalandDi

Found It!
An interesting drive into this one, although rather rough in places. A great view from GZ and a quick find once I got there!

After spending a terrific weekend with EsromL in Port Lincoln, exploring Coffin Bay And Port Lincoln NPs and the Memory Cove WPA, it was time to head west.
I had no real plan, but wanted to check out a few interesting-looking places, find a few caches I had targeted and pick up any other opportunistic caches along the way.
It was a straightforward drive to this one and an equally straightforward find. It was very windy at GZ!!
Thanks MalanDi for the cache.

Found with Restless Jillaroo on a day trip to Port Kenny and Venus Bay. Great little track leading to cliffs and surf beach. Pleased to find a pathtag in the cache. TFTC
With work bringing us back to the west coast we are staying at Venus Bay for a few days, Well this was a interesting one with taking the VE SV6 down to GZ from the roadside lol, a SV6 is 1 inche lower than a standard commodore so we scraped on quite a lot of rocks as we went over them lol, we slowly drove down to GZ and once at GZ it was worth the drive as it is spectacular here, cache was easily located and to be on the safe side we went back over our tracks to get out as we noticed it was quite sandy the other way. Hi there MalanDi.
We found your cache **"Find and Sign the Surf Beach"** at 11:45:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 15681).
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour around some of the Venus Bay area today. We found a wide variety of container types amongst our 6 caches (& 1 DNF's) today. Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
###Thanks for not placing an eclipse tin or a 200ml Sistema here. Once upon a time caches seemed to be "regular" sized, and well stocked with goodies for kids to swap. Nowadays it seems like every other cache is small and devoid anything to induce children to enjoy the hunt. It made us feel really good to find this cache in a "special" place.###
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

This cache was sporting a constellation of 'difficulty' and 'terrain' stars, so I had to head for it on my way out of Venus Bay this morning
It was a beautifully sunny and warm day, so I thought why not
I found the start of the "4WD ONLY" track
I drove on to find a rather muddy looking track across a claypan [:o]
Undeterred, I slowly drove onward.
Ah this should be doable
And after getting more mud on the geomobile, I made it to the really rocky, sandy terrain on the other side.
And after a scant 15 minutes or so I parked the geomobile at the top of the cliffs looking out over the surf beach
Windy spot !!
But with nary a cloud in the sky, a really beautiful spot [^]
Surf report:
2 metres waves on a 3 metre swell !!
Nobody was surfing the waves though
I stood there wondering why you would bother !!
Cold water, rough water, sharks !!
Well I 'spose I could sort a understand, maybe
I have been known to battle ocean swells in a sea kayak on occasions and wondering if I would survive the day
And I did spend a year surfing Bondi Beach almost every day, before it became really famous and crowded
So maybe I can understand why surfers seek out these lonely spots for the thrill of an uncrowded wave [^]
The cache was a nice easy find [^]
TFTC and fun !!

Found on a wet and miserable day. We went down to the tub and the woolshed for a visit. It was a good day to finish a great trip.

Found during our boys fishing trip on the west coast. With the swell and wind up and fishing too difficult, what better way to pass the time than to grab a few caches. Enjoyed the 4WD into GZ and will certainly keep this beach in mind for when the beaches at Elliston are not firing. TFTC
I have recently been back to Venus Bay and have checked on this cache which is still in good order.
Running out of time in the day, and with the Barravan on the back, I've had my fair share of being bogged and reversing back along tracks, I passed this one by.
The usual access to this cache is by taking the track just out of the town and then crossing the swamp to the higher ground on the other side.
However, when I was there recently, even with 4WD I wasn't confident in crossing as there was a lot of water there.
So BEWARE this may be a summer time only cache.
It's up to you.

Tried coming in from the south but failed miserably from that direction. Then after finishing other local caches, we found a track coming in from town side of Doyles Well. It was easy after that with the cache being found quickly without the aid of the handheld (flat batteries). T: keyring, L: keyring, SL. Thanks to MalanDi for the cache.
Ventured out here today from camp after the track had dried out sufficiantly after the recent rain.Found cache with about half a cup of water inside, dried out and repositioned further under cover.Took phone sock, left toy fish, crab, clogs keyring and a koala keyring. Then the geokids went down to the beach for an explore..TFTC
Thank you MalanDi for this spectacular viewing location. we walked along this wonderful beach as an added bonus to thr trip to the cache. what a wonderful spot. Left a purple phone sock we took from "porters lagoon" in the clare valley and took nothing. Regards,Rex & Carole
No surfies here today although to our untrained eyes it looked like some good breaks were coming in. A magnificent beach on a glorious day. TFTC SL TNLN [^]
The Pajero enjoyed a leasurely drive to GZ. The surf was pumping today but the surfies had all gone to Cactus.
The waves were definitely breaking this afternoon but no one was out surfing. Left the Diabetes and Monitor TB's and took the Spongebob TB.
*FTF* Another First To Find !!!! Yippee thats so unusual for us.
We disconnected the Jeep from our caravan and set off to find this one before the rain started to fall again, negotiating the tracks here reminded us of the tracks back home in WA. We found the cache easily and took photos of the beautiful secluded beach although on a day like today a swim wasnt top of our priority list!
We swapped trackables.
Thanks again for showing us such a lovely spot.
