Nice view! Cheated to get here doing radio maintenance, so got a lift right to the hut!
What a fantastic spot for a lookout with great views over the mountains. Out with Riddell's today for a lovely walk in the perfect caching weather
dalerious and I were here on another mission so I took the opportunity to finally place my name in this log, and of course, witness the spectacular view. With the recent burn off from Taminick Rd, we had to ascend from Chick Hill track, and with the the caches on our list dotted few and very far between, it ended up being a hege day of hiking. The view from here is awesome, and I will forever look up to this Mountain as a am travelling down the freeway going to and from adventures and remember the walk up there fondly.Thank you Chewinprickles for bringing us here. Your cache was found in good condition.
Checked on this a few weeks ago and noticed the log was wet and soggy but didn't have a replacement at the time. Today I went back and replaced the entire cache with a much more durable variety.
Called in today to check on this cache. Found it is a bit wet and soggy. We had another container but no book so I'll have to return again.
Well my legs know I'm here. Beautiful views, what a fantastic place we live in. Interesting local history. All good here. Now onto the next one for the day. TFTC
Found with Eudes at 11:25am after making the trek up with our bushwalking group. Great views over Glenrowan from the top.
thanks chewinprickles

This was our first find on today's walk to the summit and well worth it indeed it was. As the group was admiring the views, Al did the finding duties at we signed the log at 11:25 as we kept taking in the fantastic vista.
All well worth a fave point.
TNLNSL. Thanks chewinprickles.

our last morning out and about in north-east victoria:
it was time for a long walk
and it seemed plenty of others had the same idea
some joggers we zipped past on the road up turned into trail runners doing a quick out and back to the lookout
many other hikers out on the trails too
one woman arrived at the end of the track and the same time as us
planted herself down within five metres of the cache
and wasn’t in a hurry to move
we waited a good fifteen minutes but once she got the book out and started reading in the morning sunshine, we knew she was in for the long haul
luckily we could put a plan of covert retrieval and replacing into action
the ninja skills coming in handy

Not sure this is the same look out as Dan would have experienced – how the view has changed - and all through human intervention. You'll see what I mean when you come here . Nonetheless I love Ned, I love his family and the adventures they had. I always have in the back of my mind that they were just young men, boys really. Scouting about these hills just like geocachers and COs do now.
Thanks for bringing me here Chewinprickles

Wonderful Sunday morning stroll. If I did this walk every day I would be so fit! Great lookout over Glenrowan. TFTC.
A lovely hike with my daughter, rewarded with a stunning view, a hidden gem !!! TFTC
Out for a walk with the family. First time up here for Em and the girls so we added their names to the logbook.
Good to see it getting a bunch of love. Lots of muggles writing their names in the book as well.

Been to this spot dozens of times training and its only rarely you dont get a good view. Today it was drizzling just before the final hill but the sun came out just in time to see the fog roll in below. Thanks
Attached a picture of an unusual log in the book, maybe they werent a very good throw?

While the others were checking out the Ned Kelly Museum the fit Triton decided to check out Mad Dan's Lookout instead. The flies kept him company on the long hot walk to the top and luckily the snakes stayed hidden. The hike was well worth it though, as the views were amazing, looking out over Glenrowan. We are sceptical about this being used as a lookout by Mad Dan but either way its a great legend.
Thanks chewinprickles/howjen567 for the adventure today.

Well....Today is another day.
This time I waltzed straight past the Zode and kept on walking and walking and....
I had a day off on a Friday.
I really really wanted this cache. Somehow I got my heart set on it since I saw it on my radar. I don't even know why I wanted it so bad. Sure the D/T rating completes my 4x4 fizzy grid, but another shorter hike on the same hill would have done the same. I just wanted it.
I had the whole mountain to myself. Today, with not another soul in sight from start to finish, Mt Glenrowan was Mt Dalerious.
I had perfect hiking weather and made it to the lookout in good time (about an hour) arriving at GZ at 12:30pm.
The cache (in good condition) took no time to find so I had plenty to spend just taking in the view.
Eventually of coarse I had to turn around and head down but the grin on my chin was even broader on the way back to he car.
TFTC chewinprickles.
I enjoyed the hike but if the gate was open at the bottom of the hill you would have got a fav. No point wasting them on a cache no one will ever visit.
(Yes that's a dare to anyone else that reads this log....it's worth it)

This is more a DNAttempt log.
This was my log for a find just down the road a bit (It had a Dr Seuss theme).
I can relate to the Zode on that day. The battles of choices to go or to stay. For this wasn't the cache I wanted the most, for the "First to Find" cache, I was pipped at the post. Choice two was a cache for my Fizzy grid. "Mad Dan" was the hide that i needed unhid.
Plan three was a "Z" as it fills in a slot for "North Eastern Challenge" I've near got the lot.
With "Zode in the road" in the road on the way, I found it and signed it and cheered a "Hooray!".
Now this is the bit where my mind had a fight. It faught with it's self for what's wrong and what's right.
For just up the track (about 4 clicks or so) was a lookout that looked like I needed to know. But time had run short, as time often can and I feared for my plan, my "Mad Dan" plan I'd planned.
The time that it took to get me this far, the time that it takes to get back to the car, the time it will take to get all that way, the time that it takes is too long I should stay.
But what if I ran? If I ran to "Mad Dan"? If I ran all the way.....No I don't think I can.
With clouds closing in and light getting less light, with less day in the day and brightness less bright, my mind was made up to not choose just yet. This log needs a photo before I forget.
With my phone in my hand a picture I take and my phone rings a ring and it's sounding irate. It's Cybergran V (my mum) saying "Please".
"I'm back at the car and you've got the keys".
Think I will pop by another day.

Today I was heading home from Wodonga, having previously attended the Clear Waters mega in Queanbeyan. I targetted a number of caches spread along the highway to break my journey. I targetted this cache as it sounded like a great walk with some lovely views at the end. And I wasn't disappointed. It was everything I hoped it would be.
Thanks to chewinprickles for the cache, the walk and the views.

A long weekend away with Pacman covering over 2000km across 5 days, covering the Victorian and NSW Alps.
I have had my eye on this cache for a long time. Well, any caches up this way that are associated with Ned Kelly after the 'Kelly Weekend' years back doing 'The Letter'. However each time didn't really have time for the hike so only really popped in. Well today it was warm, we had the time, energy and enthusiasm.
The hike certainly felt like it went forever, and the heat was really picking up. The final however was absolutely sensational. Took in quiet a while reading the muggle logs and taking in the view. What an absolute gem of a spot. Thanks for placing this and owe you a FP!

Day 1 of an epic 5-day roadtrip hiking and 4WDing between the Alpine and Kosciuszko National Parks with Jacko.
In the afternoon we stopped for a 'quick' 10km walk along Mt Glenrowan to this Mad Dan's lookout.
Lovely views from GZ over Glenrowan which is an area I have now become quite familiar with.
It was well worth the little walk and is somehow one of my most memorable caches ever.
It's good to see this one gets many visits considering it is not a drive-by.
Thanks chewinprickles/howjen567.
A FP for the story and the location.

Crisp spring morning and came up via Chick Hill track. Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to the region. Had lunch right next to cache.
Well worth the walk and the effort to bring the cooker and have hot bacon sandwiches
A nice walk in the Warbies on a partially rainy day. At GZ the cache was quickly located after reading the hint. Love the location. TFTC
Well, Dan isn't the only mad one.
Out for a day walk in the area and this is where we had lunch.
Nice view.
Now, we read the logs and 'Old peg' has reportedly left a TB in the cache. Well that TB is nowhere to be seen.
Anyway, lovely day for Bushwalking.

Old Peg retrieved PWSA oztrip coin Feb 5th 2014 from Rail Trail cache and Place in Mad Dan's Lookout. have no numbers to record it journey. will next finder please report/record and continue its journey.
Found at the end of a 3 day navigation exercise with Wodonga Tafe. Great view. TFTC!
Beautiful day for a bushwalk and while there 'find a cache'. which we duly did with muggle friends (8) along for the day actually I was there with them!!!! strange object spotted a Muggle leader who wonders what it was. OP knew. SL which is a little damp. took Ronald McDonald who deserves to visit another cache - he has been here for 6 months. route in follow the tracks. thanks chewinprickles for the offer of guidance. my days of rock climbing are over. TFTC and the views of the Northeast. left medallion of which I have not saved the tracking number sorry. OP
Attempting this cache was completely unplanned. After a day of bush bashing around the Warby's I found myself at 4.47pm, at the trailhead of the chick hill track, with 19 minutes until sunset, saying I can run the 3km to the next cache... Easy, she'll be right (I didn't bring my torch, it's in the car so a sense of urgency was upon me).
As I started off I realized my usual running pace would be slightly slower due to my hiking clothes and more importantly my heavy hiking boots! Alas, I pushed on, and I arrived at GZ right on sunset which produced some very cool colours tonight.
The cache was found quickly and after a very speedy few photo it was time to hoof it back to the car and hope I have enough light not to roll my ankle.
I'm happy to report that I made it back with the very last light, and managed to avoid any tripping hazards somehow.
I might have to come back and run this properly now, it was a good track!

TFTC What a great cache to find on such a nice day. Plenty of muggles enjoying to day also. What a great view of the area around Glenrowan and Wang Region, and the day was so clear you could see the snow caps on the mountains. Thanks for the chance to enjoy this lookout.
A long ride/walk today to get to this cache. Was very tireing on the legs but well worth the trip for that view
Stopped at the top overlooking everything below for lunch and was joined by some muggle while clint caught up to me. Thanks for the cache and the spectacular view

ben.ro and I were in this area a couple of days ago but it was getting too late to attempt the longer walks. We opted for the longer 'easier' way up and it was quite a workout. The top was really something special. There was a bit of haze but what a panorama! The cache and log are in excellent condition. Took one TB - it was time for Ned to move on.
What fantastic exercise to walk up Mount Glenrowan! Not being very fit I was out of breath in some places where the track was steeper. It was a beautiful view - you can see for miles - certainly a great place for a lookout
Thanks for the cache! I took a TB

Took the tribe consisting of Mr, Mrs, six kids and one grandchild for a quick early morning 9km stroll to the top of Mt Glenrowan.
Legs got a real workout pushing prams up the steep mountain. Lots of ants. Junior cracked his head open on a rock but recovered well after the application of five bandaids on various grazes.
Dropped off two trackables [^]

Well we started off well and stopped alot along the track to catch our breath and to spot wildflowers and animals.
It took us 5 1/2 hours and there and back but we aren't that fit.
We enjoyed the view at GZ and the cache was found, signed and replaced.

Breathtaking views. Rode our bikes up, which nearly killed us! Great to be rewarded with a geocache. TFTC
I set off on the trail to Mad Dan's on foot this morning
On the drive from Wangaratta, there was no indication of the building thunderstorm lurking just to the south of GZ [:o]
I kept an eye on it as I strolled.
It moved off to the southeast, but behind it the slight wind change brought in the rain
I broke out the raincoat and continued onwards via Chick's Hill.
A couple of hours later I arrived at the top of Mount Glenrowan and the rain stopped !!
I enjoyed the misty views out over the Hume and Glenrowan Township
Top spot !!.
I took a photo of the nearby trig point before heading over to GZ to find this cache
Not too many places to look here, and the cache was found safe, dented and sound
The stroll back to the geomobile was delightfully rain free [^]

# 2849. Making a concerted attack on some Warby Range caches today, riding and walking with Robmc. Mmm, did not enjoy doing this one at all, even though theoretically it was easier because we attempted it by mountain bikes. Let's just say the return journey to the car was a LOT easier than the outward trip. The views of course were spectacular from the area of GZ. My, what a large cache hidden here. TNLN Thanks chewin prickles, I think - but I won't be back for a return trip that is for sure.
Finally got around to grabbing this cache.I meet Mvyrmnd out at the gate at 9am,he is lucky enough to have a gate key.We drove up and I made the find while Mvyrmnd worked LOL !!The views from GZ area are just spectacular. The cache was found quickly and easily after a short walk from the car.

This was a great walk for a mild winters day. A little blowy on the ridge but not too bad. Saw lots of wildlife including kookaburras, wallabies and an echidna. Also some interseting grass trees. Well worth the walk in and out, and what a fanatastic view at the end. TFTC
Out & about on a days bush-walking with DJ Rascal to pick up the recently placed caches in the area, and decided to come to this one first before it started to heat up. DJ Rascal had already completed this one, but thankfully he was more than happy to do it again...... we took the MTBs and rode up today. A fairly hard ride up, but boy coming down was great!
A great spot for a cache and wonderful views! Many thanks chewinprickles - a most enjoyable start to the day in the Warbys.

2nd walk up here in a month . didn't know about the cache the 1st time. saw the same goanna as allancodan. tftc and happy new year.
Found at 9.15am - after a fabulous walk with fabulous views. Some steep uphill sections at the beginning and as you approach the cache location, but of course these are downhill on the way back! The round trip took us about 3.5 hours. Pretty light traffic on the freeway today, considering it is a public holiday. Lots of wildflowers, a couple of kangaroos and butterflies everywhere. A magnificent view of the Glenrowan Quarry, Glenrowan and around on the right hand side (or looking westward) the Winton Wetlands. Took: lanyard and white queen figure. Left: King's knight and butterfly fridge magnet. We appreciated the log to sit on while we signed the other log and also the tree stump to take some photos from - well thought out chewinprickles. Did we mention that the views are superb from here? TFTC and another place, in our own backyard, discovered through geocaching.
We took the alternative route, with our host leading the way. It was fairly early in the morning and despite the weather forecast, a loverly day. We got a bit damp walking across the fields of long grass, but soon dried out up the slopes.
Fantastic view from the top (and some good views on the way up, as we waited for our host to stop spinning)
After getting to the top it seemed to be a waste not to continue on to the other caches on this hill.
Thanks Jen for picking us up at the other end.
Thanks, Robmc.

First cache of a new day and it was fantastic to be led by our local guide who also kindly arranged transport to pick us up at the other end.
We took a route up that others will surely not, crossing wet paddocks and deep grasses until we reached the treeline.
A few puffing moments and rest stops took us to the lookout.
I was last here 22 years ago with the Bendigo outdoor group on a bushwalk.
A lot had changed since then and plenty was the same.
Thanks Chewinprickles.

After reading the log from Lostmonster, the challange was on to ride to this Gz. Parked the car at the allocated spot, and put the bike over the fence. Yes that piece of bitumien is steep but was able to pedal all the way up at approx 5kpH, and heart rate running between 120-150bpm. at the top a good breather before the next 4 odd k to Gz, seeing beautiful grass trees and very long goannas. At the Gz site I realized I was involved in keeping Ambulance communications going at this transmitter site 20 odd years ago. Ah memories. Anyway signed the log and decided to head to " that wasn't too far'' back up the ridge. TFTC"
Been itching to get out if the house and today was too good to be inside.
Always thought about placing a cache up here everytime I go past on the freeway but just that bit far from home to be convenient.
Chose to park at the top of Taminick gap and do the 9.5km return trip on foot. A few minutes into the walk I spotted a goanna on the road. A few quick pics and I continued on my way.
The walk didn't take long at all, reached Gz in little over an hour. The views were great and the only thing spoiling it was the constant drone of the freeway
TNLN SL @ 1500. Cheers

Whooooo.......Hooooo FTF.
Well here we were Saturday 30/10/10 and had just finished another of Chewingprickles cache "Pine Gully Falls & Nature walk", when we thought we might have a go at the FTF on this one as well. We parked the Pajero at the carpark and again put on our wet weather gear, still well & truely wet from the cache just found. We crossed the road over the fence, and away we went, time now was 5:30pm,and we were walking for about 5 minutes and had not even seen the first hill when Lostmonster said this could take a while, how about we come back tomorrow morning with the bikes and ride in, Co thought it was a great idea considering the Black rain cloud we were walking into.So we went back to the car and headed home for a beer and a warm shower.
6am Sunday 31/10/10, Lostmonster grabs the Bike rack and Bikes bolts them to the tow bar and grabbed Co and headed south to GZ. Parked the car in the same spot crossed the road and put the bikes over then fence and headed towards GZ, well we turned the first corner and there it was........ a huge hill we had to walk the bikes up, one of many for the trip to GZ, at the dirt section of the track things Hotted up a whole lot more, was great to be back on the MTB, first time since last summer and Lovin it, some fast sections on the way to GZ and more up hills, love the hills just not the up ones...LOL.
We got to GZ and dropped the bikes and started the search, the clue made the find so much easier and we had the log in out pretty quick, we sat down and signed the log while taking in the Fantastic views, what a top spot, unbeliveable views.
We were taking a few photos when another MTB biker came over the top of the hill, another cacher we thought, after a quick chat and an intro we soon worked out that he knew nothing at all about GEOCACHING, we spent the next 15minutes explaining all about GeoCaching, showed him the Cache we had just found and signed, he even joined us on our next hunt just 2.6klm away in the same National Park called "It wasnt to Far" Rob our new found friend helped us in the search for a good 30 minutes untill we had to give up - DNF...!!
Not to worry i am sure "Rob" will be a new Cacher very soon, he seem more than impressed with the sport of GeoCaching.
A HUGE thanks to Chewinprickles for this Top Cache in a top area, with F.A.B views, many thanks for bringing us here, (sorry for the lack of committment we should have done it on Saturday.....................LOL......)
