Nothing line a bit of maths to kick start the brain. Lovely sunny day and an interesting cache. Returned exactly as found. TFTC
Nice easy find this time, even a rogue golf ball had me thinking I'd found it but then found the bigger/better container exactly where I thought it should be last time.
Find 3286This one was a little tricky . The gaining of the info was fine but it needed plenty of concentration to do the calculations. We had trouble with one in particular, so we just did some waypoints until we had a likely spot within the range. After 5 goes we got the right combination and off we went. The search was quick and we signed the log. Thanks for the path tag that my geowife is the collector.Great work 3blackducks and for testing my maths.
Visiting Melbourne from Port Macquarie.Today we headed from the north-west to the south-east, via Werribee, grabbing caches along the way. Overall, quite the wet, eventful and action packed day. Thanks for the cache
Found at 13:51A nicely working multi word on my way home from work. Numbers quickly collected and coordinates calculated. A quick find once at gz.Thanks 3blackducks for the cache
I was having a "holiday" in Balaclava minding a cat... and was heading down to Beaumaris for dinner with family... so I left early and went looking for a few caches along the way. I needed a Multi today for a "long term" challenge that I am working on... and this one looked a suitable candidate. Except for the traffic roaring past, it was all very quite collecting the required information. A convenient seat in the shade allowed GZ to be determined in comfort... before a short walk to find the cache. Thanks to **3blackducks** for putting this cache here.
With the bad weather today I had cancelled my usual Friday evening caching run, but as I was leaving work I heard about my route home being a car park. As such, I thought let's dodge storms, instead of sitting on the Monash car park. Glad I did as when I ended up going home, I had a great run.I have visited a few locations relating to Premier Bent including his Grave but I didn't know about this one. Nice that his wife got her own monument too.Worked out the numbers and I worked it put to be in a park 6 kilometres away. It seemed strange, but it was with in a park. Glad I thought I would double check the numbers, as I soon worked out some new coordinates only 1.5 kilometres away. Looked good until I released it was within someone's swimming pool. Third time lucky brought some very likely numbers within walking distance. I was soon there signing the nice new look book in second place. I wonder when the last finder will log online. Thanks for the cache 3 Black DucksHunter
Well, that 'last finder' is now logging online, as I can't always seem to keep up with logging and then they get away from me and I forget about them. I now have a google doc with a list of caches I've yet to log! I got a coffee from a nearby cafe, then visited the coordinates. I figured it would take me a while to work out numbers so I went to a nearby park to do that, hoping the cache might be in there, but was certainly quieter and more peaceful than doing the workings next to a busy highway. The location I ended up with was right on the edge of a residential property and didn't look right so I contacted the CO to confirm but turned out it was spot on. Returning another day I found a shortcut from a street to GZ. I found myself searching briefly in the nearby bushes but not getting anywhere until a wander along the path and saw where a cache could easily be. Was nice to sign a brand new log sheet even if I wasn't the first finder. It's the first time I've ever taken a path tag also. Thanks goes to 3blackducks.
Owner is not responding to messages and there's no indication that the cache has actually been replaced with that last maintenance note.
Had a look around the gps location and didn’t find. Its an old cache so potential gone
GPS pointed me to an obvious fence corner with chunks of concrete for a perfect hiding place but nothing in there, expanded search to include a fair chunk of garden. Nothing found.
Staying right across the road, grabbing this one was a must. It was a simple stroll and grab. We did the necessary maths and off to GZ. My numbers were 15m away from the hide but a bit of caching sense and it was in hand no problem.
Great to see Mrs Bents bubbler still works. TFTC!

Wanted to do some caches after work, thanks for the simple puzzle so I could find more caches before getting dark. TFTC.
Nice quick and simple multi today. Saw the previous log but I found the container right at the calculated coordinates. Felt a bit exposed! TFTC
Working on my multi month challenge. This one gave us a bit of trouble. We thought we working out the coordinates correctly but once we got to GZ we didn’t come up with anything. Back to the shade to double check our maths as it was a particularly hot afternoon. The maths seemed to be correct, and once we expanded our search the cache was in hand. We had the cache about 23M north of the posted coordinates, but used the geosense and the cache was finally in hand. TFTC
Thanks to CeeJayDenno I can now turn the frown upside down! I had looked for this one multiple times and had logged it as a DNF. CeeJayDenno literally pointed me in the right direction and hey presto it appeared.
I’d had the coordinates right all along, just had cache blindness!
Added a swap for the next finder
TFTC! My first multi cache!

I’ve tried to find this one a handful of times now so I think I’m going to have to admit defeat
After navigating across the many roads found myself here not long after observing his bones at another place up the road. Cache found quickly in a nice spot .

First is the worst second isn’t the best and the third time we found the tiny chest
This one almost stumped us! But just as we gave up we started heading in the right direction and we found it!
It was a bit difficult to work out the coordinates but once we had done that we reached GZ and made the find. Pretty hidden away! TFTC
During this lockdown for the most part I've really only bothered to go caching when I needed to plug a gap in my 366 grid, however logging the last dozen or so caches I realised I never seem to move on from the Natural Wonders of the World passport thing to Solar System Wonders.
Closer examination of these prior cache finds showed that somehow none of them was ever for Guanabara Bay, so today I decided to see what the closest unfound of this type was and this cache was _just_ within my 5km exercise radius, and also one that I had inexplicably never attempted before.
A short drive later and I was getting the skinny on Mr and Mrs Bent, after which I retreated to the car to do some calculations, since despite the sunny outlook the wind out there was on the chilly side. First however a frantic search took place, through glovebox, console and various other storage spaces for a working pen amongst all those which were quite dead yet still in the car.
Fascinating stuff, I know. Tales of high adventure, or what? But some days you have to take your victories where you can, no matter how small.
Anyways, some scribbling and counting later and I had the final coords and was off again on another walk, in search of the elusive Bent #2. At GZ the co-ords were spot on as I contemplated what looked to be a viable place of concealment, and biding my time in terms of a subtle search and retrieve a short time later I had the container in hand.
Signed the log, thanks for the cache, 3blackducks.

Collecting the interesting information here was the easy part this evening but then I muddled the maths, so back to the drawing board to finally reveal a set of coords that looked much better than the first. It was dark by now so that made the muggle factor negligible and the hide was sorted after looking in the logical location.
Thanks 3blackducks for sharing this location with us as we would never have located these bronze statues if it were not for caching.

Whilst the sun wasn’t out the weather was holding off so I set about some more multi challenges today around the southern suburbs.
A quick stop on the way into the city for dinner. Just of course as the rain was starting. I jotted down some quick notes and then set about whizzing through the maths so I could get back in the warm and dry geomobile. A short stroll and the cache was soon in hand although I almost overlooked it on first glance.

Well there was some maths involved and I was wondering whether I had the appetite to get into this one as it was approaching darkness.
I read the description and saw it had a small walk from the start waypoint, so surely I could knock this over easily.
A quick drive and parked up not too far from the start.
I ended up taking a few pics at WP1 and went to sit down and work this one out on my iPad.
Funnily enough once it was all solved and I had a decent set of coordinates I quickly set about seeing how far I was away.
The navigation on my phone had me at 30m away. Mind you, I did walk away from the original start point as I had my car parked in a back street and I went there to solve the maths in the comfort of my drivers seat. Now back out in the darkness now to hunt.
Funnily enough I had now walked past this one twice now. My iPhone GZ had me about 8m away and I was searching high and low in the bushes. I soon decided to throw my “caching brain” on and “where would I hide it”...?
Sure enough, something said “look here”. I moved its little concealment cover and sure enough, I soon had in my hands. A nice little seat here to do the business and then return it to its hide.
Now to get back to the car meet the wife and son for dinner nearby.
The cache, container and log are in excellent condition.
I visited 5 TB.

I thought my coordinates were wrong but I found I was happy they were correct.
TFTC, I didn't have a pen on me unfortunately.

Yes, well, that's embarrassing. Talk about having cache BLINDNESS. We had a good look but noticed there had been quite a bit of foliage removal and pruning in the area of GZ etc. Did we look hard enough? Nope. So the lovely CO did a maintenance check (it was still there), and then OSHFAM made a find, so it MUST be there.
Fast forward to today; saw the hide upon approach and wondered why we didn't see it the first time. Cache Blindness. Well, that's what I'm blaming.
TNLNSL and replaced as found.
Thanks 3blackducks for the hide and your prompt check of the hide. Cache on.

I was out this way for a physio appointment and needing a find for today, stopped to have a go here.
Numbers! Numbers! Numbers! Numbers! Numbers! Not my specialty.
Surprisingly I made heads and tails of the calculations, believe me when I say this, I was very surprised. With some plausible numbers to work with, I walked to GZ and made an easy find here. Nice. The cache and log whilst old, is in good condition.
Thank you for the bit of history and cache here 3blackducks

We did the sums (twice) but came up empty-handed. Not sure if recent clearing of vegetation has anything to do with it or just a case of cache blindness but would the CO mind doing a health check? We’ll wait to see if anyone else has better luck.
Out and about with echidna44 for another enjoyable day. Things did not start well and continued that way. Our bright spot for the day was to change the blue into a smiley. This is our second time at this one and having worked out where we went wrong we made the easy find. Cache in good condition. Left TB that had been lost for 3 years. Thanks for the cache 3blackducks
Out with xambo4u, we laughed our way through a slow day, with a few hitches along the way. We collected the numbers a while ago and returned today for a quick find. Thanks for placing this lovely multi 3blackducks.
I have always found this intersection confusing to navigate when driving and never noticed that statues before. Today I set out on my walk and with the 10,000 step goal smashed, I returned home tired but happy to find the cache, a lovely park on the way and cute rainbow drawings in windows along the streets. The cache was quickly located and signed with 'nature's tools', as I left my pen at home... Thanks for the cache.
This is my very first one in Brighton, and in Australia, and on this continent, and in the southern hemisphere - and therefore farest from home and .... probably many other things.
I found this one on a little evening walk and had no problem to find the informations or the box. (But this one definitively has no 400 ml, that information must belong to a former container. ) - Anyway, it was big enough for one TB at least. And for the others I will find a place as well.
Since it is my first here, I leave a blue heart here.

Being without a geo vehicle, both beckNmonts and I were relying on a terrible hire car to forfill our caching needs. I guess a Kia Cerato is better than no car at all!! So off we went on another school night adventure, starting with a couple of multi's and working our way through some previously solved puzzles.
Surprisingly, despite the muggle exposure a quick find at GZ
Many thanks to 3blackducks for the cache. TNLN.

Dropped by to visit Mr and Mrs Bent on the way home.
Had the coordinates quick calculated and then it was off to GZ.
Oh dear, what a mess.
The log was sodden and converted to paper maché. Back to the car for a little bit of TLC. Dried the container, cleaned it and replaced the log (now with a zip lock bag)
Cache replaced as found.
A side note: The residence of the Bents’ is across the road from the monuments in Bay Street. Check it out!

I was in the area tonight for the Joe Bonamassa show at the Palais, so took the opportunity to grab some caches while I was here.
This was a nice quick multi, collected the info and walked down to gz. I searched a few wrong items before rethinking and changing, I then made the find. Tftc!

Had to guess one of the numbers as I had already left the statue to get a coffee and to do the math. Turns out I guessed correctly as the cache was found well hidden at the location calculated. TNLNSL. TFTC. Kkams
Solved most of the answers at home with my friend Google, needed the statues for one and then a short stroll I came to the easily found cache. Visiting from Cairns. Tftc
Cache found after standing in the rain working out the puzzle for a good 15 minutes.. all looks to be in order. Thanks for the find!
I was worried about parking for this location, so I parked a fair way back and walked to the statues. I found the required information and set off on foot to GZ. I was pleased to find the cache quickly. Thanks so much for placing this cache 3blackducks
This cache proved just the thing I needed to get out of the house and work off a grumpy mood this evening. It's walking distance for me, and I needed to get my steps up. (Alas, it could be just about the last in easy walking distance and now I'll need to get the car out to go caching. Or use PT.) Anyhow, I paced off along Nepean Highway with my audiobook to the statue that's been hanging around this corner for as long as I can remember. Got the numbers. Did the calculations. Arrived at GZ with no drama and spotted the cache immediately. Grabbed it between traffic light bursts, signed and replaced. There is no real log book. I signed JupiterPearl's calculation sheet, as did the person before me. I think a new log book would be good. TFTC, 3blackducks
#1542 This has been a long time doing. I think I first started this about 7 years ago back in the day before a smart phone and modus operandi was to print out the page and take it along and write out the details required. On that particular occasion I didn't have time to continue on and find the cache so the bit of paper got filed somewhere (not to be seen again). Fast forward a couple of years and I decided to start the attempt again but from what I logged on the website's notes section, I had missed the info off the second statue. A few weeks ago I decided I really needed to have this solved and up my sleeve for when I had a blank P366. (also noting it hadn't been found for about 9 months I was thinking of trying to stretch it out to a year and then grab it) Fast forward to now and I am on my way home from work at 10.45pm and there is a blank P366. Parked at a side street nearby and got to GZ and found the cache. Unfortunately set of the nearby woofer alarm so left the area so sign the log. I was doing it by the glow of the distant street light and I thought the log looked as though it was someone's calculations sheet. Just prior to doing this log I see this one has been recently found jupiterpearl so I can't claim to be the first to find in 9 months anymore. It also makes sense now that I was signing on someone's calculation sheet. Returned cache to GZ setting off the woofer again. TNLNSL. TFTC 3blackducks, another P366 crossed off the calendar.
Well having graduated and smarter than a fifth grader yesterday I needed to fill a space on my date grid. I’ve been meaning to come and do this multi for some time since I work in the area and after I completed my Rosstown railway cache series. Thomas Bent travelled on perhaps the one and only trip on that railway line. Very interesting times ! Not sure why we know her as “Mrs Bent “ didn’t she have an identity herself !
After collecting the numbers I made my way to Gz where an unfound cache for 9 months still resides. I signed the deteriorating paper in the cache , then went back and folded my workings piece of paper to act as a new log and signed this as well. Thanks 3blackducks for an interesting quick multi that has lasted over 8 years.

As a result of winning a double pass in a competition yesterday Rex and I had driven to Melbourne and arrived just in time to meet a former work colleague at the Regent Theatre in order to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert
When the fantastic show had finished, I dropped Amy off at her car and then decided it was time to get tea (after midnight, mind you ) and also my first cache find of the trip! [^]
While I found zero, nada, zilch caches on the trip down on the 4th May (obviously the force was NOT with me ) I did find 18 caches today though and only had 1 DNF with 1 I'm not doing that on my own look at a cache! [xx(]
Rex enjoyed his first ever visit to a beach at the off lead beach at Mentone and while he didn't get deep enough to swim he did have a blast running into and out of the water and fetching the ball [^]
I left Rex in the car while I gathered the information, then I went back to the car to do the sums.

Was checking through our stats and noticed we had 18 multi's for the month, they were a focus for a challenge cache, but then realise with only another 10 we could also complete the multi month challenge, so the aim was 10 more for Feb, due to a variety of reasons those 10 had to be packed into the last day of the month, so off I went. calculations were quickly done and log soon signed. TFTC
Been trying to find this one for a while. After the first attempt where the coordinates pointed to miles away, I redid the math and found nice and easy a short walk away.
Yay!!!
Finally had a chance to return...only to realse as i started looking that i had no idea where i stored the co-ordinates

Wasn't sure whether to go for this because of the DNFs, but I'm doing multi month and I was in the area, so why not...
I never heard of Thomas Bent so thanks for teaching me something. Completed the steps and headed to GZ where it was a quick find, thank you!

I'm so sure I found the hiding spot and the right coordinates but can't find a cache
After thinking Id done a very good job with the calculations, the gz that resulted was miles away. Re-did and found error but then had more trouble entering coordinates as im a newby. Can anyone explain why I enter one set of numbers, only for another set to appear??
Searched a likely place but had to abandon due to time and not being sure if i was in the right place.
Have now confirmed coords at home and that i WAS in the right spot. Hope to be able to go back soon.

Set out this morning to complete my self imposed 'Multi A Day for a Month' challenge
Took a seat and worked through the maths. First attempt was way off so sat and calculated a second set of numbers which were much more reasonable. Off to GZ and after a short search the well concealed cache was in hand. All found in good condition, signed the log and returned as found. More than pleased with myself to have completed the self imposed challenge. Many thanx to 3blackducks

Great location for the cache. Now that I work in Brighton, slowing going around completing each one
I can remember when this fellow was moved.
That's how old I must be.
Shame about the annoying dog.
Thanks 3blackducks.

Took a return trip after calculating and searching in vain, but with the help of the geokid but we got it. Thanks to another recent finder who helped me navigate the barking dog without fear.
Signed the log and took a ring for the geokid.

Well, I think the most challenging part of this cache was trying to find a parking spot nearby! Once that was achieved, the co-ordinates were easily determined and I managed to spot the cache location as I approached. No barking dog, but lots of traffic. Still, not hard to find a gap in the traffic for extraction and replacement. TFTC!
Nice little multi. Figured out the coords easily enough on the benches around the statue.
Did you know he has a dome of concrete in his hand as the common joke was to place a tin of beer in his outstretched palm. Still reckon this would be a great prank with the bottom cut out of a can and some blu-tac.
Was soon on my way to GZ and found the likely spot. Then spent a good 10 minutes searching around with the gps compass trying to work out where exactly to look. Eventually gave up and stood back to think, and read some previous logs. That gave the clue I needed, and I then found the little treasure in the first likely spot. No sign or sound of any resident dog - must be sleeping. Signed and returned without further ado. Cheers!

Second attempt at this cache. Rechecked and headed to GZ. This time no yapping dog and had acutally found the cache within a few seconds. Seems to be a promising start for a day caching in Brighton and surrounds. TFTC
Worked this one out some time back, so it was just a matter of going around to collect it. Interesting character this Bent was. Sneaky land developer to say the least! TFTC
Now I know why so many streets in Melbourne suburbs are name Bent Street, even when they are straight.
Poor Mrs B only managed a small drinking fountain, donated by her daughter, and nobody though to record her first name on the inscription.
Mr B's statue has long been a landmark, particularly when it was in the middle of the Nepean Highway. Businesses in the surrounding suburbs used it to help clients find them. As in "just south of the Tommy Bent" statue.
I had never stopped to take a close look at this memorial and I didn't even know about the nearby drinking fountain. Thank you for an instructive cache.

GZ had a lovely spot to sit and work out the maths,
A short stroll and I had it in hand within no time,
Thanks for a interesting and fun multi,
Thanks 3blackducks [:x]

After several long and hard searches we finally got a smiley on this one. Once you know where it is, its a "quick and easy find", ha ha ha. Even the dog said woof finally woof.

Great cache, a good challenge without being excessively difficult. We originally thought we'd messed up the coords after we thought we'd have to enter a random backyard, so we went back to the statue, redid the equations and after confirming we had the right numbers, we went back to GZ and did a bit more snooping. The logs regarding the barking dog encouraged me to persevere with my search and quite soon I found it!
With a big smile on my face after speaking with a friend who's leaving for Singapore today, I gathered the coords at the statue and easily found my second multi of the day, and #11 for my 29-multi February challenge. Unlike previous logs there was no barking dog. TFTC
Yeah, the dog Farles75 mentioned is somewhat discouraging! But this was a nice quick multi. I had to recheck my calculations once I think. Lower- vs upper-case ABC's probably didn't help! Nasty! But it was straightforward after that. Thanks 3blackducks!
Day #23 of 31 days of continuous caching saw me attempt my 4th multi.
I had visited this 'tribute' to Bent and his long suffering wife back when I was building towards 100 finds and a premium membership due to a convoluted chain of events encompassing his ownership of the nearby Rippon Lea estate, his sub-division of part of it for profit and reading up about his rise from his humble beginning as the bastard son of a market gardener to Premier of Victoria. Quite something.
A bit of trivia, did you know there are approximately 30-35 streets named Bent street in Victoria? It seemed as if every time he and his cronies subdivided a block of land he would make sure to have a resulting street named after him...
Enough history, back to the cache and the purpose of this log. Compliments to Ms. 3blackducks on this multi. Co-ords were easy to work out, walk was short and the only things which gave me pause were the very active dog on the property and the extensive cutting of surrounding vegetation. It seems Council thought there might be something suspicious going on at the location.
For subsequent cachers, c:geo is your friend, specifically the electronic compass...

Solved this last weekend but was put off by the very curious, noisy, barking dog at GZ at the time. Approached from the north this morning and was able to grab the cache without arousing the dog - much better Thanks for the history 3blackducks.
Great day for a geodog walk, my second cache visit today, and yes, this one is there in it correct place.
Got the puzzle sorted out quite quickly, and walked up to GZ. Reasonably sure I had the correct spot after reading comments left by previous finders. Had a good look around, but couldn't find it. There were quite a few tree branches cut down, hope that didn't disturb the cache. Will come back in a few days and search again.
Found with Justin on a geocaching adventure around Bayside TFTC... Took a little bit of time to find as we searched around the area stated by the last log!!
I went where the coded coordinates said to go but I reckon that it was on the branch that has been cut down and in a huge wood pile with a snake burrow underneath (BTW I actually saw the burrow so DO NOT look there!!) !
find 3 of 5 today. nice, easy multi! just what we needed after Lumeah V2 and lots of DNFs. i've never noticed this guy watching over Nepean Hwy before, i'll look out for him next time we pass through.
couldn't see a TB in there.

Found with LouiseAnn. A nice wee multi. A curious dog poked its nose out of where I was expecting to find the cache. It didn't bark and we found the cache elsewhere. Tftc
A bit of a drive from our last multi, I detoured us past the house I grew up in. I haven't wanted to look in on it since we moved out nearly 15 years ago incase it had been knocked down. It is still there and it looks much nicer than when we lived there! The cache didn't take us too long to find, and we got to meet a dog whilst hunting. We picked this cache up at 2:47pm.
After spending the morning at the cake expo, sharkiefan and I headed out to find a few more multi caches as part of our Multi March challenge. Thanks for the cache 3blackducks. This is my #12 multi for Multi March

I've passed Tommy Bent's statue tons of times on my travels down the Nepean Highway. Today I finally got the opportunity for a close up look as part of my attempt to qualify for the Multicache Month Challenge Cache (GC5M69G). This was multi find #7 of the 31 multis I need to find in March.
It wasn't easy to find a car parking spot close by so I parked a few streets away and walked. I collected the required info from the plaques, calculated the cache co-ords, entered them into my GPSr and then wandered the short distance to GZ. Despite the co-ords on my GPSr jumping around a bit near GZ and a dog barking on the other side of the fence I eventually found the cache after several minutes of searching. I retrieved the cache and signed the log at 7:15 pm. I took an unusual looking TB and left a poker chip in case Tommy goes to the casino. Luckily the dog had stopped barking by the time I returned the cache to its hiding spot. [^]
Thanks 3blackducks for the good multi and a well-hidden cache and for showing me the legendary Tommy and Mrs Bent.

A warm Saturday afternoon so we went out for a couple of caches. Completed the puzzle and went to retrieve the cache. Found it and the dog heard us alerting all to our arrival. SL TNLS. Dropped a TB. TFTC
