Collected the info many moons ago but wanted to wait until my minicachers were with me before heading to the final. In the end nice easy find for minicacher #1. Thanks

Greetings from BC, Canada.

We are a family of 5 on vacation in New Zealand. Cachers in the family include BeesKnees34, SOB_4M, AlexBN16 and me. We have been enjoying the beautiful landscape and visiting some awesome locations.

Stopping along the way to grab some cool caches. We targeted high favourite, old caches, different cache types and some other caches along our routes.

Staying at a nearby Airbnb. So had some time before the others returned. So made my way to the start and gathered the required information. Made my way to the final and after taking more time to get to GZ, because of the creeks, it was a quick find.

Thanks CaligulaNZ for the fun multicache!

Got yelled at by a cyclist on the way here - don't know what he was on about he had plenty of room. Almost counted the wrong number of bicycles at the info board but caught myself in time! A nice quick multi in a peaceful spot. A little hard to undo the lid of the outer container but got there in the end. All nice and dry inside the cache. Really hot today (forecast for 27 degrees and it feels like it), it was nice to cool off in the streams. TFTC

Talking to a mate (the Seagnoid) a few days ago, and he tells me that he 's looking to head up to Belmont Trig on Thursday (today). Great, that sounds worthwhile, can I come along?

And so a plan was hatched to head over to the track after work, which would also give me a chance to have another crack at this cache that I had previously DNF'd a couple of months ago.

This time we both agreed with the calculated final location, and once there it completely fitted with the Hint. However, no original cache could be found. So we decided to replace the cache as we were both confident that we were at the right location etc.

So the new container is triple protected from the elements, and is wedged in such a way to hopefully be resistant to being washed away which appears to happen a lot at GZ. All it now needs are some more people wanting to find it.

Thanks for the cache.

Today is a day that I need four caches and a size "other" So I suggested to TwigNZ that we climb to Belmont Trig. Started after work and were still back before dark. Despite spending ages looking for that "other" and not finding it - but at least we got the four caches Smile.
We started n this oneand ot finding it we went back to the board and the hint and redid the calculations but still nothing. Left it for now and went for the climb up Belmont. On the way back we stopped here again, and after a careful read of the cache, hint and pervious logs confirmed we had exactly the right place. Thanks to the hint we also confirmed hte cache was missint so did a little proxy maintenance for the CY and dropped in a replacement triple-containered cache, with a bunch of rocks so that hopefully this one will not flood away.

Out and about on a "Sunday Drive" (in spite of it being a Saturday) with my other half, we ended up driving along Stratton St so naturally decided to stop and see if we could find a cache or two.

This was our first stop. The info seemed easy enough to glean, and my calculated final seemed in line with the offered projection, so off I went to try to find it.

With no mobile signal I was not able to upload a satellite view of the area and the GPS signal seemed to be bouncing around quite a bit. I think I was in the right area, and reading a few previous logs convinces me of that even more, but I wasn't wearing suitable attire to really get down and dirty in looking for this one.

Heaven knows when I'll come back here again, but it was a nice quiet spot.

I'd calculated the final for this quite a while ago while doing the Welly Climb cache but deferred the final in case I "needed" it for the 10-day multi-streak I was doing at the time. But that was done an dusted and I never returned here until now. Considering the previous log this was an unexpectedly quick find. I don't know if it was hidden differently but I'll take quick finds with gratutide. Everything is thoroughly dry too which I wasn't expecting in this location. All worked out pretty well. TFTC.

Wow, that took some hunting! Had to lie down and feel underneath to get my hands on this one. All is good with the cache though. TFTC

I logged a DNF on this some months ago, and it seems that the cache was missing at the time. A find popped up my watch list this week so I came back for another look. A replacement cache was left on 1st December, and thanks to the Leprechaun's log I quickly located it.

It seems odd that the CO would replace the cache but not leave a note. It's also odd that the I found the cache at the opposite end of the hint object from where the hint suggests. I replaced the cache where I found it, but the CO should perhaps update the hint.

Another day in an area I’ve seen a bit of recently and another quick find.

Stopped at the information board and gathered the required information. Would have preferred a checksum but in the absence of that I used the provided direction and distance indicators to confirm my workings made sense. I guess this was how confirmations were provided back in the old days.

I headed toward my calculated final GZ and found the hint object right away. A search in the prone position resulted in finding a freshly placed cache with a paper notebook has been placed earlier in the month - thanks CO. Coords were spot on, even though the opposite end of hint object to what I expected.

The first hint object looked lovely this morning. Even more so with the recent rain.

Thanks for another cache and smilie.

all good at GZ

I found my way to the location of the final, and searched in the place suggested by the hint - nothing. I'd managed to get sufficiently far under to see that there was nothing there. If my understanding of the hint was correct then this has probably gone. Of course, this wouldn't be the first time I've got completely the wrong end of the stick!

Solved this one way back in the middle of last year when we ran the Xterra series here. Didn't have time to grab it though, so resolved to come back one day.

Today was the day on short run up to Belmont trig to stretch the legs. As per previous maintenance log - logbook still soaked (no change there) so won't post another one. We tried our absolute best to make a mark but it's pretty difficult - maybe the next cacher could bring a replacement and bag.

Beautiful area, so glad to be back

According to the weather forecast, this afternoon was supposed to be wet and miserable. Our Church picnic was cancelled because of the forecast and so was the kid's tennis. How wrong they were. What a lovely day for geocaching!

I'm trying to keep a streak of multi-caches going. It's more than 20 days in a row so far.

WP1 is within a few kms of my house, in a straight line. However, its quite a long drive to get here. The log is very wet. I dried it out for about 20 minutes on one of the nearby tables before attempting to sign (see attached photo). I was careful to identify WICM and barefootguru and put my name after them. The log book really does need a bit of TLC.

I had 60 minutes to get from Petone Tennis Club to here and back. I would have dried it out a bit more, but I ran out of time. I had to get back to pick up my son after his game.

Thank you

Dunno how I miscounted, but found from hint instead. TFTC!

Log book completely sodden and going slimy! Still managed rough signature with indomitable Swiss Army pen

06-Aug-16
Calculated the coordinates as I left the car, but left looking for the cache for the return trip from the trig. I was initially worried because there was a large group of young people standing round a tent they had pitched nearby, but luckily GZ was hidden from them, so I could search without being seen. Straight forward find, but the container had been upside down and was full of water, and the logbook was very wet. Managed to sign the logbook, but it does need some time in the sun.

This is another cache I have been meaning to attempt to find for a very long time. I decided it would be a good one to try after work but I decided against it as the weather was poor. However, the conditions seemed to ease temporarily as I left work so I changed my mind and headed here after all. It was actually quite pleasant and I quickly figured out some coordinates and made my way to ground zero. The treasure wasn't in the first place I looked but I got there soon enough. The logbook is starting to fall apart but I think that's fine for an older cache like this as it helps to reinforce its historical status. It was dry so there were no problems writing in it. Thanks for bringing me to a very nice place to visit.

17-Nov-15
Quickly got the right coords. A bit longer to find it. Not helped by bit of dead gorse guarding its hide. Eventually got there. Thanks for the cache

08-Nov-15
Will have to try this again. Hard to search subtly with muggles stretched out nearby.

#1232. Drove up to Belmont Park today to pick up the two new caches in this area but did a few of the other local ones while up here. Whole family out for a walk today. Stopped at the display board and gathered the information. Pleased to see it wasn't too far from the road. Walked from car park to the GZ and Mr GSEL found it in first place checked, much to Mrs GSEL's annoyance. I should have left it for the geokids to find apparently. Oophs. Signed the log and returned as found. Now heading up the track to the trig. TFTC

11-Jul-15
Found this multi. When I got to the waypoint I expected to log a DNF due to recent storm damage. A massive flood rolled through here a few weeks back. Happily the cache was still there but sodden. Dried everything out and replaced the cache. Log is still damp.

04-Mar-15
I like simple multis that are so clear there is no possibility of misunderstanding what's required, and this one is a great example of a very nicely done cache. The final was a very pleasant stroll away - the only downside for me was that the dogs had to stay locked in the car as they are not welcome here. Fortunately it was a short walk to GZ and a quick find. tftc!

02-Jan-15
Good find out with Sian & Bigcheese. Dropped my phone (due to bug attack) and was so lucky it fell in the grass not the water - PHEW. Beautiful spot. TFTC

02-Dec-14
Beautiful up here this afternoon, all the information soon collected and then a gentle meander to the final. GPS a bit variable (and no reception at GZ for me today) but something in the hints and logs eventually clicked, and I was able to locate the prize. Log and cache in excellent condition. TFTC, and another beautiful spot I wouldn't have seen otherwise located.

Yay! This was one of the first caches we tried to find when we first started, but didn't manage to, so good to get it done today.

06-Jul-14
I finally found this after some confusion on my part. I made it significantly harder than it was. Initially I entered the coordinates into the wrong place in my and couldn't figure out were it was (I was looking at the original coordinates!). Then when I figured that out, I figured out which direction to head off in. Once I got to the first fork in the road I made the wrong decision so turned around and went the other way, which was actually the wrong way, so i turned around and went the other way. After a spot of (literally) rock climbing, I decided that maybe my GPS wasn't showing me the right way. I headed for where the hint indicated and no joy. Then I checked the actual SW (not the other one that I thought was SW) and Eureka! As I said - a lot harder than it needed to be, but still a lot of fun! TFTC. Smile

With SGKahu. My first multi-cache, easier than expected so now keen to attempt more Smile

A nice quick find thanks - with Helen of ChrisandHelenH

I've raced paper boats on the streams here and today would have been a great day for it. The waterfall was twice as wide and the streams twice as deep. Calculated the coordinates by both methods and got the same answer but the GPS still wanted to go away from where the hint suggested so went with the hint - it's a good one. TFTC.

Sure, we were close but couldn't find it - we'll be back!

15-Jan-14
Out for an after work stroll.
Was a little strange as for some reason I thought I had been near the cache previously at a different park entrance.
Confusion cleared as I traveled a road I had never been on before.
Took the short walk to grab the final. Looks like I will have to come back this way some time soon for a longer walk.

Cache # 1,429 - and 10th day in a row finding multi-caches. Smile Did today with Downunder Wanderer. Pretty easy find once you actually read the directions - I tended to skip over sentences and then wonder why things weren't adding up. Liberated the trackables from the cache, as they had been languishing here for a while. TFTC!

Dipping in trackable found here that was last seen in the US.

Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.

We were down in Wellington visiting family and went on a couple of short walks with them. We quickly worked out the final co-ordinates at the sign then set off in search of the cache. Initially spent some time at the wrong corner, but shifted focus and quickly found the cache. A nice spot, TFTC!

Dropped off 2 TBs.

12-Jun-13
A quick find this time. Fortunately a biker who had come down from the Trig track passed me rapidly before I was at GZ, and I had seen him coming down anyway. Would have been very awkward if I had been in the process of looking for and grabbing the cache when he came by- if that had happened we wouldn't have seen each other till he was on top of me- perhaps literally! Surprised

Contents a bit damp but log was usable. Conditions not suitable to leave it out to dry for a while as again it was near dusk and was cloudy. TFTC.

Wasn't sure about one question but worked out fine and confirmed as it corresponded fine with the direction given in the hint. At first I got a bit scared as the direct route looked rather ominous, but all good once I found the correct route.
But didn't find the cache at the final, unfortunately I had missed out noting the last words of the specific part of the hint concerning location: as there was no way of accessing mobile Internet (or any other kind of mobile or Internet either!) there I was unable to recheck the listing. I thought I had looked there and at the other alternatives, not knowing which was the right one without that detail, but maybe I missed it.
Keen to have another try anyway, this is a lovely spot and such a little known one, I had not been to Statton St let alone the GZ area before. Too close to dusk to be safe to explore any further.
If I do find the cache next time it definitely deserves a favorite.

Fortunately our eyesight at GZ (or where we calculated it to be) was a lot better than our eyesight at the start of the multi. Drawp checked the hint and decided on a likely location nearby. Conditions were a little damp, but cache was nice and dry. We noted it had been some time since this was last found which is a shame as it is a nice area. TFTC

A good little multi, we did miss ccalculate one number but the hint was explicit enough to locate the treasure. Water fall looks quite impressive today after the heavy rain. TFTC

Might have a chance to have a go at this this weekend. However it appears from the description that it might be necessary to enter the farm for the final? In view of the fact that other parts of the farm are closed for lambing (and in one area of the park, right at a gate where access seems to have been previously allowed to the carpark during lambing) can we please have advice whether or not the GZ for this one is also closed off for lambing? If so it would only be for a a few more weeks. Had to abort one mission elsewhere in the park owing to a change of access restrictions which caught us all unawares, so I want to be sure this time!

Thanks.

Great wee walk to the final, but managed to get my feet wet in the process. Our GZ seemed to be a bit out, we must have miscalculated the co-ords, but it was a straightforward find with the hint.

Headed to Belmont Regional Park for a walk with the family before dinner. Stumbled a little on the clues but a quick 'reread' of these and following these exactly gave us the coordinates to GZ. A quick search by the kids discovered the cache. Recommend stopping and relaxing by the nearby stream before heading up the Trig!
