Vacations 2019 - Road trip trough New Zealand
With Geoesposa, this was my 50th anniversary. 16 days, 4200Kms and a few hundreds smilles after, i was sure i saw nothing....
I liked everything, the friendly and civilized people, the way the country works, the roads and especially the natural beauty of New Zealand.
I fell in love....
I decided to go back in 5 years, I easily see myself living my last days somewhere lost in any stunning scenery of this wonderful country.
With the itinerary studied at home, the caches were the ones that were in the chosen places, and a few used to stretch the legs. It was decidedly not the most important on this trip. Of all the visited, only half a dozen did not appear, all being in good health except two or three.
I will use this generic log, not for disrespect of the owners, but due to the amount of caches visited. Here the majority of caches serve to show something beautiful (as it should be), not giving importance to the container.
My thanks to all the ownwers who, allied to the natural beauty of the country, have made this vacation unforgettable.

A nice place to stop, walk, sit and soak up the sun, great views - even some lightly snow dusted peaks, but sadly no cache in spite of extensive search.
A little late leaving for the ferry as I had to sort a tire first, so my time for caches was limited to a few stops. I made the most of no one parked at the rest area and the stop and go further down the road, which meant relatively long periods with no traffic at all! TFTC!!
On a caching adventure with gorby
We are on our way back to Taihape, hungry tummy time, as dinner is calling. But we have time to find one more.
I am only doing the signing today, as gorby had found the cache a couple of years ago.
Thanks for the hide Team Gumboot

Lucky for us the parking area was empty so no muggles to worry about, the joy of midweek caching! Thanks CO for the cache.
Today was part two of my road trip home to Nelson from Auckland, after picking up my son's "new" car from Napier, taking me from Taihape to Wellington... with time to find a few caches along the way, of course. This was the first cache I came to after leaving my motel in Taihape. No problems here. TFTC, Biggles.
. On a road trip south and stayed at Taihape for the night Nice quick stop and even beat a truck we had past back on the road. TFTC
Short break with a nice view. Thanks a lot for this cache!

A quick stop today, I've got places to be and geocaching is getting in the way.
Nice quick find and grw view too. Lots of magpie around. Headi g to carterton today then onto mega wenz.Tftc.
On a long trip down to the mega with Lis's crew. So for me it good for numbers and favorites caches. With several stops and a lot of caches and several souvenirs up for grabs the trip was the perfect opportunity to get my numbers up and get some challenges that I have qualified for.
I'm on a 10 day trip to the Mega event in Wellington with the greatauk. We're caching on our way down the country. I want a long line of smiles down the highway and some solved puzzles off my to collect list. This was a quick find, TFTC
Quick find today, thanks. Views would be spectacular if they cut some of the vegetation back.
Flew into Palmy this morning to relocate a truck from TR Group PN to TR Group Auck. Thought id do a couple on my drive back.
Very quick and easy park and grab!

Lovely views of the Rangitikei River can be had somewhere between the surrounding trees. Grabbed TB.
On the road to Wellington and decided we were due for another quick stop for more food and of course a cache. Soon spotted the cache and we were back on the road.
Hoping for a great view...but too many trees n bushes! Managed to view cache though
Great to stop at the top and have a rest on our way to Palmy. Quick find of cache in good condition.
Quick find while on a road trip north with tmann421.
Great views over the valley thanks

I am currently travelling down from Auckland to Wellington to stay in Silverstream to helping run a Salvation Army creative arts camp for a whole heap of holidaying teenagers over the next seven day period. I am currently trying to maintain a daily caching streak and so this was my find for today. However, it wasn't such a straightforward find as after we pulled up at the rest stop it was very busy. As one car would leave, another would stop... it turns out that there is a lot of urinating that happens in the trees here... whether it be dog or human. Anyway, once the coast was finally clear it was a nice quick find. The log book has been signed and the cache is back nicely in its place all ready for the next finder. So thank you Team Gumboot for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so.
Happy to get my 2018 Geocaching year started in a positive way. I spent a couple of weeks in Auckland for a change, and had flown my lad up to spend the 2nd week with me and to give him a chance to catch up with a few that I had already found up here, but also for the pair of us to discover lots of new ones together. Our joint goal was to get a new streak for consecutive days finding.
So this was our road trip home again, and a great reason to stop at a place I had always wanted to stop at before for the anticipated views. Sadly, the views were almost non-existent due to the abundant greenery, but at least the Cache was a quick and easy find! Signed the log as T & T to cover myself and ThatWeirdGuy04.
As always, I am eternally grateful for all the CO's who make the effort to place Caches to be found, so thanks to the CO for putting it out there, and Happy New Year to you!

What a pity the trees have grown so much leaving only a few small gaps to admire the view. Never mind we located the cache and signed the log and the dog had a stretch so we were all happy. Thanks for the cache.
Nice quick find here the cache is all good and those grains are doing a grand job...thanks team gum boot for nice placement
On the way south to Palmerston North to drop grandson home. Battled roadworks ALL the way - here being no exception. Almost missed the entrance as there were cones everywhere. Cache was easily spotted and then on our way again to pass those trucks again! Thanks for the placement and stop at the top!
We stopped here onour way southwards to have a look at the landscape. Unfortunately, there are too many bushes and trees here to see the full panorama - the parts we have seen were spectacular, however.
As often, I just checked online for nearby caches and was positively surprised.
Thanks gor putting the box here!
The loogbook is fine, but the bag was full of rice grains ... does this meam dpmething special?
Best wishes from Germany

A quick stop and find as the sun begins to go down. One tree- then the other tree, there was the cache. Thanks for sharing this little stop with us.
Nachdem wir hier die Aussucht genossen haben, uns ins Logbuch eingetragen haben, konnten wir die Fahrt Richtung Norden fortsetzen.

Thanks for the cache. This is our find number 667 and we found it at 12:59:01 PM NZDT on 24 February 2017. On our way to Auckland to see Bruce Springsteen.
My second cache in NZ . Great way to get to know a place. Thanks for a stop and a cache!
On a weekend mission with Cats&Dragons, for a bit of a numbers run along the new trails around the Northern Manawatu area, and anything else along the way. As usual these types of trips mean maximizing caching time and minimizing sleep time. So with a 2am start time Saturday morning we left home and headed South, and not getting back home til 8.30pm Sunday night. Some numbers for the trip as I know we all like caching stats are:
* 1450km traveled.
* 286 caches found (192 on Saturday, 94 on Sunday) with only 3 DNF's
* 4 hours sleep
* With a 3 hour each way drive to the Caching area, so about 32 hours of caching in the 42 hours we were away at an average of nearly 9 caches per hour, this isn't including stopping for fuel and coffee!!!
So a huge thanks to all the CO's for the placements, and for the reason to see some more of our wonderful country, we saw some pretty amazing places. Sorry for the copy and paste logs. We signed the log books HKCD, or HKCBC&D.

Great place to stop but too many trees now to enjoy a clear view. Cache soon in hand, thanks for the hide
TFTC. A much needed quick find on the dash back from Ohakune to Wellington today in time to do the Geocaching Podcast!
Had spent the weekend in Foxton with a group of caching buddies, completing a few power trails on Saturday and aiming to find as many as we could in a day. We ended up with 206 in 14 hours (taking into account lunch, dinner, coffee and bathroom breaks!) and were pretty happy with that.
On our way home today and decided to grab a few more caches on the way. Parked nearby and wandered along to this one. Cache quickly found and views admired.
Log signed as "Team SEAC" (Our group name- South East Auckland Crew) in order to save log space.

Our team from Auckland wanted to do a major day of caching, so headed down to Foxton area for a massive day. We got about 205. So we also got a few more on our way back upto Auckland.
Very sorry for the generic logs, but when doing so many in one day very hard to make notes on each.
But a big thank you to all the cache owners for putting out all of the great caches we visited.

# 2 found today
We stopped here for a picnic under warm sun and with a nice view over the snowcovered mountaintops. A quick look at the GPS showed there was a cache only meters away. It was a quick grab.
Another day of our tour in New Zealand.
Mostly sunny but a chilly 15 degrees, only 11 degrees and cloudy in Tongariro NP.

I decided to go home via National Park as I though The desert road would be way too busy to stop for a few geocaches. My flight for Christchurch left Palmerston North at 5pm. So I couldn't stop for many.
This rest area was fairly busy when we arrived. Managed to get the cache and return it safely. TFTC
Heading towards the Mega. Thought it would be impolite not to grab a few on the way through. Thanks all for the hides.

On our way to the Mega event in Tauranga and stopping by at caches on the route that we haven't already found. I have stopped here before but had a DNF. But it is now in a different spot it seems and was a quick find today here. -once the muggles had moved on. And the big rig driver seemed otherwise occupied. Thank you for the cache and another smiley face.
