It is a hard find hanging off the cliff

DNF but found rubbish on spot.

Finally got around to this one after years on the radar, was sceptical as to if it was still there seeing it hasn't been log in over 2 years.

And to my surprise still there, great spot and a top adventure TFTC

Dekoy42 has been wanting to check this one out for ages so we finally tackled it today. Scoped out the descent from the base of the wall, everything looked good so we set up at the top and tried to base our anchor point close to where we suspected the cache would be. Really fun abseil, the cache is in great condition after being undisturbed for so long, and we got plenty funny looks from muggles.

#11444 @1635
Found with ZQX and Fox in Jox on Day 1 (for us) of the OzGeomuster 2019 The Gong Mega, while doing the Tour the Gong Adventure Lab and picking up other specific caches. This one was unplanned/accidental, but as we happenned to be the right place at the right time - bumping into Jamin Appleford who had all the gear, we were able to find this one. TFTC.

Cache #3 for the day.
I’d seen this cache on the map but didn’t think I’d get around to it whilst attending the Mega. With Wife and 1 year old in the car we were out for a drive and just happened to end up near to this one so I suggested we just take a peak.
Arriving next to GZ I was pretty confident I knew where to go but the beach looked inviting so we took a stroll along it. This confirmed my suspicions and I knew I could get the job done quickly.
As we got back up top I spotted a geo friend walking down who was keen to borrow my gear here. So fortuitously we were in the right place at the right time.
As suspected it was a quick set up and execution here. Ripper location for a cache placement! FP added!

In the area for the OZGM19 mega with TikvaNZ and ZQX. Bumped into JaminAppleford as we walked away for another day. He had the gear, so we tagged along. Good fun. TFTC

3rd T5 for the day. We lined ourselves up with the previous images and then started setting up.
We decided to descend to the shelf for the cache and then ascend the line rather than continue abseiling down to the beach. A nice easy find with the assistance of the hint!

Thanks For The Cache

Out caching with Muppet95. We found 2 out of 4 rope-based caches that we had aimed to do.
Muppet stayed down on the beach while I went up top to scope out where to set the line. After we had the point marked, I picked him back up and we set up the gear for the 3rd time today.

Instead of descending completely, we opted to descend to the cache and then ascend the short distance back up. Thanks Arkaroo

Out with the Purple one who kindly bought the gear and we had all we needed. A few guesses from above as to the right setup location saw us do a beach walk and mark a line out on the sand which turned out a direct hit. Back up and time for the drop and quick sign. In fact we had signed so fast that PPE who was below did not realise so when we start to drop more there was shouts of stop and look for the cache.
And yes we did have some muggles watching and taking photos from below. TFTC

29-Sep-18
Finally back here with the right gear. The only tricky part is being sure of the spot to rig up and descend. We picked it perfectly after after some reconnaissance by B@W and I made a quick find and decided to prussik back up rather than drop to the bottom and walk up again. Yes we had some muggles watching and taking photos. Gets a fave point.

Being the end of the school holidays decided on an extreme caching run today with the team of Splitty Miller JJCC, phlphotos and alnic39. This one our main target cache for today...mainly because it filled in our last remaining spot on our D/T grid.

So after setting up and venturing over the edge we didn't see what we were after and made the decision to head back up. Rereading our notes a slight change to our anchor point was made as our initial setup was about 5m too far south. On our second attempt over the edge we spotted our destination ledge below. Reaching the correct elevation we made a nice quick find. With the cache in hand we signed the log before replacing as found. Then we continued our descent to the beach before waiting for the next of the team to follow suit. Thanks for the cache and the adventure The Arkaroo. Definately worthy of a favourite point.

Grabbed (freed) 1 TB - Richard Teer

The following TBs came through for the mileage: Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust), Vanlith The Youngling and Richard Teer.

#1794 met up with alnic39, teamMerlin and Splitty Miller JJCC earlier for a day caching down in the Helensburgh area after some of the higher terrain difficulty caches. We parked in the car park up the top and then went to set up the rope dropped it over the edge we thought it might be but we were wrong. One of our party went down the bottom and she pointed out a more likely spot for what we were looking for and so we rerigged the ropes.

Signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache The Arkaroo and Suparki12. What a great view and a fun cache to do worthy of all the favourites it gets. TeamMerlin grabbed the TB

I was keen to acquire a D5/T5 souvenir for the geocaching road trip 2015. I'm a bit of a souvenir hunter from way back Smile. I started with a D5 puzzle an eventually gave up (for the time being) on that one and looked towards something a bit more achievable and challenging.

wazza9 and delloro had recently found this cache and are experienced abseilers, they both very graciously offered to provide the gear and the expertise for me and Mr H to meet the challenge. This was my second abseil......EVER.

We were soon setup and we got the thumbs up from Mr D who had "slid down the rope" before my descent. As I was about to descend Mr H turned up and capture an image on camera as I went over the top. Soon had the CIH and signed the log. Now it was Mr H's turn.

A thoroughly enjoyable challenge and very rewarding to achieve this result. Thanks to wazza9, delloro and finally The Arkaroo for placing the cache. A favourite from me.

What a super cache! We've had our eye on this one for a long time now, and this afternoon Mr H had the opportunity to get together with a few other good caching friends to tackle it. Hardly any muggles around to watch, but it was a beautiful afternoon with great views along the coast, especially whilst dangling in thin air on a rope! So much so, I did it twice.
Thanks for another top cache Arkaroo!
Cheers,

TFTC Arkaroo,

It seems like so long ago now that I was planning on doing Arkaroo caches on Botany Bay. You checked them and all was ready for me to go when I was diagnosed with a health issue that prevented me from going ahead. Unfortunately, while I have now recovered, I still need to get back to them when I am strong enough and the tides are right.

I have been getting back into caching and building my strength for a month or so now and this afternoon I got a text from delloro asking if I was up to an abseil. I asked where and when told "Muggle More Than Welcome To Watch", I said OK even though I wasn't sure. I can remember being told that it was a reasonable abseil and after yesterdays effort, I thought I could do it. We meet at Loftus and made the drive to GZ together. While I was waiting I read a bit of the description and noticed it was a T5. A souvenir coming up if I can complete it, first prize for the day.

The road to GZ was closed while work is being undertaken to provide a new surface so we parked a couple of hundred meters away and walked. A quick look at the description talked about a 20M free fall and I decided to double my 55M rope. Delloro walked to the base to make the area safe while I prepared the anchor. I through the rope over and delloro indicated it was short. Pulled it back up and set a single line. I made the first drop while delloro was ready in case anything went wrong. I made it to a possible location and chafed my leg on the rock while setting myself in place. I then had a look around and am glad I had a helmet on. Well hidden in the back of the cave was the cache. Opening up the log, I noticed the last finder was Noodles22 on the 13.9.14. Wow, that means we also get to share 311 days towards the Forgotten Years series caches. 2 prizes so far and the third was a path tag which I took. I left a trackable in its place "Richard Teer" TB2JQ26 is back in a cave overlooking a beach and protecting the treasure until the next finder comes along. Ha Ha be warned.

Now to get to the bottom so that I can collect my final prize for the day. This being to log a Found. What an afternoon, who could wish for more. Visited a group of trackables and giving a favorite. A special thanks to delloro for asking me along. He tested me and given me more belief in myself and my recovery.

This one has been high on the to-do list for a while, and finding myself with a few unexpected spare hours this afternoon, the time seemed ripe.

A quick call to Wazza9, who as I suspected was at home and in dire need of amusement, and we were off.

Roadworks meant we had to walk to the cache site (please don't be replacing the Armco, please, please, please) which thankfully was unaffected. Whilst I went down to check that the beach below was clear, Wazza set up the rope, then came down to make the find.

Following him down, the cache was located, the signing done, and then the fun part began. Great spot for an abseil, bouncing down the overhang. Unfortunately my phone memory was full so he couldn't get any photos as I came down. Needless to say I forced myself to have another go so he could get a shot Smile

Thanks for a great cache. A favourite for sure.

I was ready to get this cache today, while waiting for low tide.
The muggles were not quite willing to watch as the few who walked by while I was setting up were all scared of the thought of going down.
once I managed to get past the thorns, I found that I was a bit too far to the south, but at least on the correct shelf. I had to to wriggle along on my belly to reach the cache. Log signed and a pathtag left, I continued my way down.
A fun cache to visit. Thanks for the challenge.

We had a reason to visit Stanwell Park and this looked like a great cache to attempt so packed the rope gear. Looked at the area the day before and was hard pressed to locate where the cache might be, but noted a likely spot and cast an eye at landmarks above. The overhang below the top looked pretty impressive.

The weather today was a perfect Sydney Spring day, sunshine , no wind. Beach was filling mid morning. Geofamily went down to watch the show while Geomate assisted in the step up and looked out above. A whale breached while anchors were being rigged. Adjustments made and karabiners double checked and off I went. A few bushes near the crest posed a minor problem and a small gap in the foliage hinted at a likely path. Eased down with a petzl stop, with a shunt as a back up on a single rope set up. Looks higher from here with a great view of the water and beach. A few interested heads below turned to see what was going on. Scaled down to the area above the overhang, looked back into the cliff and there was the prize as described. First to sign the new book!

So now back up or down? The abseil too good to miss so down I went. Placed some rope protection over a rough edge and lowered away for a quick ride. Walked back around to pack up the gear. What a great start to the day.

TFTC Arkaroo.

Added to favourites.

[red]Intermezzo in Oz[/red]

Enjoying life in Oz, and all the things I miss in Japan, after church and winterswimming, a quick abseil down to here in order to perform maintenance as requested by the last finder. KoolKath was watching from the bottom, for safety of ther people for not to get surprised by falling ropes and stones. Indeed, a new container and replacement log was needed, for which I climbed up the rope. The neighbors were watching, enjoying the sunshine at the now mowed grass near the abseil point. Lanthanas are gone, so maybe we should reduce the difficulty points? Still full gear needed, so won't consider that further. A chat, then down again, muggle watching and drinking coffee. Also brought a brick I found up the street to be placed onto the cache container to hold it in place.

The cache is sitting in a mold, hold by the brick. Strong winds may attack and blow it off, so please put it back as you find it. Happy caching again!

Will have a surf now, and then climb Mount Mitchell!

Yipeeee, this one is of my personal "must do" list - and what fun it had been. Teamed up with M&M007 on a sunny Saturday. At GZ we were unsure about were to attach the rope on the crash barrier, but at the end the chosen spot was perfect. M&M007 went down first and after a couple of seconds no more weight was on the rope. I thought, shit whats going on here!! But M&M007 was just signing the log - puhhhhh!. We both did not expect the cache to be so close to the top. After M&M007 safely reached the ground, it was my turn. Before I went over the edge, a car stopped and a couple of guys excitedly asked me whether I am geocaching (they looked like they were keen to go down as well).
After that I went over the edge, retrieved the cache, signed the log and enjoyed the abseiling and the beautiful views. We both had so much fun that we walked up again and abseiled again. Great fun!!! Thanks a lot for creating this little adventure for us!

1212 GAFF3 Down from Taree to grab a 1½/5 cache to fill a gap in 'the Grid'. Have had the gear to do such a cache for TOO long, and can no longer use it for others, but only myself.
Had walked around a bit to see if I could see the cache from the side or below; but only from above in the end.
Set up the blue water 50m 11mm static rope, and tried to use the Petzl Stop, but the rope was a bit too stiff for that, so back to the 8 descender. Had the usual self-rescue gear. And off we go.
Only to find the cache THERE! Smile
Was able to easily prussik back up, and so was soon on my way to other caches, only to have multiple DNFs for various reasons.
Could do with a ziploc bag for the logbook; and I wish I remembered to toss the dish rack down onto the ledge for the Arkaroo to use on the Pinnacles cage.
Thru: 3Bros, B2B, Baa, Neigh, and Oink coins, Monteith Dhu TB, and trackable shirt

Had plan to do this cache with "Socks" while at the Rats Event. Didn't expect to have some extra takers on the Abseil. Saw a Diamond Python about 1 metre away from the Cache sunning itself in the sun. I guess with all the rain lately, it was trying to dry out. Signed log with one eye on log book and the other eye watching the snake, which is no easy task. Maybe this should be a 5/5 cache with the snake adding for difficulty? Thanks Arkaroo for the cache, sorry you missed the event.
Cheers

When DKMacca and I decided we could make it to The Rats 10 Years/6000 Cache event, I found this cache and said to Macca "bring your gear". We should have brought more gear, as there were quite a few people interested in coming along with us. In the end, we went with SESBlocker, J&J.au and the Neighbs. Two went down first, without seeing the diamond python. When I got over the edge, it was the first thing I saw! Where we stopped, it was less than a metre from our feet. Thank goodness for the marks at the top of the cache, or someone may have jumped on it. Great place for a spot of abseiling and caching (always a good combo). Thanks for the fun!

Wow what a thrill, out on an event for Rats, absailed with The Neighbs,Socks, SesBlocker, and DKmaccker, thanks heaps DKmaccker for providing the harness and robes do complete the cache, ou by the way there was a snake just in reach of the cache, that just added an extra thrill to it all. TFTC

Found this awesome cache up a cliff with SESBLOCKER, J+J.au, and DKmacca and Socks. Took some great photos and will hopefully upload soon. Good to get this one off the list! There was also a python about 1 meter from the cache on the ledge that they were sitting on [:o]!!! Thanks for an awesome cache!!!

Rocked up at this one and the GPS had me over the cliff, nothing for it really, returned to the car and tore up some old beach towels and blankets and wove them into a rope of sort and then lowered a kid over the edge with instructions that they were not coming back up until they had it.

There were a few screams and much crying but eventually they said they had it. I pulled them up and they had a travel but in a death grip between their teeth.

A nice easy one on a beautiful winters day.

Of course all of that is bollocks, but it sounds more interesting than me just abseiling to it.

Cheers

Hoojar and I are always a fan of these sort of caches. They suit us to the 't'. We would have done this one sooner but we have been really pressed for time on our weekends.
Thanks for the abseil.

Will that hold as an anchor? One way to find out! We used the obviously marked spot, and headed down to the goal. Dingo had to stay up above sadly. Knowing where the cache was from previous finders we brought a rope that was *just* long on... JUST! Anyway, cache was found, log was signed, and then a quick climb back to the top.

I like interesting challenges like this one.

Cheers

Pulle up the car made myself ready, ancors in place, throw rope down and of you go. Spectacular way of approaching a cache!! Honestly I expected the cache to be a liitle lower! Nevertheless enjoyed the fun and took a lot of time hanging on the rope halfway down to take pictures. There were defenitely some muggles watching so I watched back!

Not too many wanting to watch today although I think the house owners have seen a few of us. Nice idea and place for a cache. I particularly liked the designated rope anchor. Thanks

19-Dec-10
Just a quick abseil to place TB "Emperor Qin’s Soldier TB" (XWXFQ1) and read the nice log book entries marked in the book.

Attention: "Emperor Qin’s Soldier TB" is very fragile; I wrapped him temporarily in paper in case of drop. So he has thick jacket and just fits into the cache; don't force on it when you take it out.

Steeba has pretty much summed up our joint asault on this cache. I was surprised to see this one and then other nearby cache sit there so long unfound. This only furthered our desire to grab the honours.

Having scoped out the site from above and below, I set about rigging some lines over the edge. This got the builders and some locals curious to my actions. Soon after Steeba arrived and in no time we were over the edge. Even after checking it our from below I thought the cache was further down the cliff.

With us side-by-side we completed the deatils with no one below even aware of our undertaking. The cache was returned to its hidey hole and the climb back up was relatively easy.

Thanks for the FTF and a fun cache, I hope you'll come and do my abseil cache soon.

I was down onthe bach last night with GPS in hand just doing a recky on this cahe. The arrow was pointing at a suspitious looking ledge so I thought I would have a go just in case. Soon I noticed that I was being watched by a concerned looking beach goer only to find on my return to hte sand that "The Akaroo" was watching and worrying for my safety. His description os right, it is not a cache that can be done with out the right equipment and from above. At lest I live to tel my tale. Thanks for the adventure and it was great ot meet another keen cacher. I will be back with harness and rope in hand.

As the nearest from home list dwindles caches like this one that are a little further from home appear on the radar.

I had said to The Rats we should team up and get up there for these ones and the added bonus was that they hadn't been found yet.

When I got above GZ The Rats was already set up with the ropes so I just pretty much had to get ready to abseil. It looked a fair way down to the bottom Surprised but that wasn't a worry. We funnily enough rigged where the guardrail said GC Red Face!

It was only a short abseil down to the likely ledge and then the cache in hand soon after. A joint FTF! Hooray Big Grin!

The Rats had brought his ascending gear and I was going to go all the way to the bottom however it was a pretty straightforward hand over hand back up to the top.

Grabbed the TB from the cache.

One Eyed Willy, the travel bug, resides now closer to the sea. After his previous venture, high up in the Illawarra escarpment, too heavy to travel by plane, we placed him into a million dollar view over the beach of Stanwell Park. But he did not make it all way down - still 15 m remaining. This is a brand new cache, created for One Eyed Willy, where he can watch - and if Willy was seen by muggle, he is safe. Actually, the cache fell down the 15 m with Willy inside; Willy got dizzy and therefore could not escape before it was brought up again. He'll be all right! In June or July, he might see the whales passing north again.
