I highly recommend the walk in from the north. The track through the broombush-mallee is overgrowing. An easy find though the cache was in a sorry state and will need replacement. Thanks for the experience billywillysillydilly.

The cache container was perished and in many pieces with the contents (including log) sodden. I placed the log and contents in a couple of sandwich bags and tucked them away and carried out the broken container.

This had suffered the same fate as the previous container approx 12 months ago. Thanks for the advice Kaneira. Archived.

Found by Mary & David at 1030. Had a look at the area with Google satellite view yesterday, so took a leaf out of danozz's book and walked the 500m in from the north. The track is too overgrown now to drive without suffering lots of new scratches (although some might take that as a challenge), but the walk was quite easy. A guardian wallaby near GZ took fright as we approached. An interesting structure close by - wonder what its history is? Most enjoyable on this sunny morning with a blue sky. The cache lid is very brittle now, and starting to break up. Only one clip can now be closed safely. Our thanks to billywillysillydilly.

Our 1st DNF today.
[red]We spent quite some time here at around 4:01:00 PM, but couldn't locate the correct way to access the cache without some serious bush bashing..

I had a lot of trouble identifying the right track. First go had me trying to scrub bash 200m to cache. Gave that up. Second go had me bashing 150m and this time I persisted reaching the correct track with 23m to go to cache. The cache is suffering heat stroke and the cache lid is cracked and brittle. All dry inside for now.
Thanks

TFTC. Great views from the top of the hill. Depending on which track you choose it can be a bit of a challenge in a "normal" vehicle (non 4wd).

Well I saw the track on Google Earth and tried to get onto it a few hours earlier, but the track is really overgrown, which would explain why it was such a challenge to get the car to the track. So I returned as it was getting dark and just walked the 500m from Inglewood-Powlett Road, very peaceful walking down the straight track as darkness set in. It was easy to find the cache even with very little light.

After travelling to Serpentine to pick up our Secret Santa present we came home via Bridgewater and Inglewood. Mr Morris enjoyed the adventure and turned this into a driveby. Nice view from up here.

Find # 2034 @ 16:15 with jaffnut
We tried a couple of tracks before deciding on the correct one and after a very enjoyable stroll and view over the horizon, the hide was ours.
Thanks billywillysillydilly.

A nice quick find with 3up once we figured out how to navigate to the cache. We initially set out on a track which petered out, so we decided on a new approach. All up we probably walked 2km (allowing the third member of our party to sleep off a headache in the car), but didn't have to bush bash at all. The mine shaft looks to be relatively well filled in with rubble. Thanks billy etc.

Found on a fantastic three days caching with my good mate Marty (Quasar3671) and Team Haveanez. The trip included attending the Pre Easter Event 2011 event. Had three of my kiddies with me including my older daughter Jacqueline, 6yo Jasmine and my 4yo boy James. The trip took us through a tour of the Victorian Goldfields and then back up to my place at Tocumwal. One of around 110 finds for the trip.

Well, after four wheeling up a few tracks, we were not able to find one that got closer than about 300m. With all the kids and cars, Marty decided to make a run for the cache, while me and Haveanez looked after all the kids. Kids had fun throwing rocks down a nearby large mineshaft, and finding quartz crystals. Marty made it back eventually with the good news. TFTC.

We parted ways with Haveanez at this cache, as they had to get back home and had a longer drive than we did. Had a lot of fun with you guys over the weekend and we will have to do it again. Cheers.

Out caching this morning with the Blacklegend and Haveanez crews during the pre-Easter event. We did some on the kids events this morning including the Easter egg hunt and miniature train rides and now we were cleaning up a few caches we didn't do yesterday. Last cache together as a trio before haveanez parted company and Blacklegend and I headed back to his place in Tocumwal.
We just couldnt find a track close to GZ, so we had stopped about 300 m west of the cache and were deciding what to do. I said bugger it, i'll go bush and get it. Not really advisable due to the thickness of the scrub, the spiders and hidden mining holes; but once i'd crossed two other tracks the cache was found on the inside edge of a collapsing mine. Be careful around GZ for sure. Log signed and back to the cars. On the way out I spotted the track that lead right to the cache, although very overgrown with scrub, it is there. Thanks for the hide.
Found while in the area attending the Pre-Easter event near Bendigo over the weekend with my good mate Blacklegend (Marshy) and team Haveanez; and during a five day caching blitz with my two boys (Tyler and Cooper) which eventually took us through the Victorian Goldfields, up to the Murray River in Tocumwal and back down through Wangaratta.

Found in the company of Blacklegend and Quasar3671 on what was to be our last cache before parting ways from a great weekend. Full credit to Quasar671 for the retrieval of this one - as the previous logger states - the sides are sliding in and may need to be checked.
The GeoKids had a great time in the area looking for "gold" and "crystals" - Many thanks for bringing us here - a nice spot.

You would have to be pretty tall to get a view from this site - lots of recent growth in surrounding bush. A WORD OF WARNING - this cache is virtually on the edge of a mine shaft which has started to collapse in.

TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt billywillysillydilly.

Took a lovely wander up from the road - dodged a few monstrous spiders on the way. Cache a little bit exposed at GZ, so found v.easily. Took TB 'Monty Motorhome', signed log. TFTC!

22/09/2011 - Log originally logged with team Swampgum. Duplicated due to team split.

I took Billy at his word, and not wanting to scratch up the new car (yet!), decided to hoof it up from the main road. But somehow I came off the track and bush bashed for about 300 mt. I made the acquaintance of some pretty hairy spiders who liked me as much as I liked them! Eventually I came out at the cache and the track. You're never completely lost with a GPS provided you have the co-ords for the car. Signed the log and had a leisurely walk back to the car, wondering how the hell I lost the track! Thanks Bill, I enjoyed the walk.

With plenty of clearance in the Patrol, I was able to locate a track that took me to within 7 metres of GZ. cache located but the camo had slipped so was exposed, hopefully I have covered it with camo that will stay in place. Cache logged and Monty Motorhome TB left. TFTC

Found by Roma and Max.
Being an old mining area the whipstick here has a myriad of tracks, some quite overgrown!
We opted for one that was accessable for our vehicle and drove to within 300m of GZ.
This then meant we had to find our way through some fairly dense scrub in places but following the animal tracks pretty much led us to our goal.
The bush is in marvellous condition after this seasons rain and we found many native flora, particularly the miniature orchids that proliferate this area.
Roma really enjoys this aspect of geosearching, dare we say even more than the actual find!
Thanks Bill for bringing us to such a delightful place.
Cheers,
from Romax.
