Found it - on my birthday - an awesome treat. Thanks.

Found on our van trip around the island of Savaii.

Eight of us got the coconut show - luckily we had a local with us to arrange the payment for this.

I first saw the blowholes the day before on the ferry over to Savaii. Both up close and far away these are an amazing sight to see. Thanks for the cache!

We stopped at the blowholes during our White Sunday trip to Savai'i - with rain, wind ant at high tide, it was really great and such a contrast to the tropical beaches of the north. We loved the diversity of the island and will definitely be back! TFTC

Thanks to the GPS we were able to locate the one. The signage in Samoa isn't the best.

We pulled up to a fala and paid a guy to see the blowhole. He hopped into the car and told us where to go. We drop down the bumpy road and after a short trip we found ourselves at the hole. it was really a sigh to see.

The guide went right up to the blowhole to place in the coconut husks and we were able to watch them being blasted into the sky.

Such a sight

Thanks so much for a great experience.

Well it's been an interesting holiday to say the least. I've been sick the whole time, fever, conjunctivitis, asthma, cough. It's way too hot and I'm too sick to be bothered to do the other caches in Samoa. This one looks the easiest.
My partner and I paid the extra few talas for the coconut display (turned out to be husks rather than whole coconuts) and considered it a donation to these people who seem to have so little.
It was a beautiful sunny day, and the sea breeze was a great relief from the constant humidity of the place...
We couldn't find the white line at first. It is very faint, and our guide took us at least 30m beyond it, close to the sprouting water.

Our first earth cache and first for Samoa.

Great spot, blowholes were awesome, even the dodgy old man who threw coconuts in the hole and tried to rip us off - lucky I've been in country for a while and know how to spot these types Smile slipped him a couple of bucks for effort though Smile

Our second day in Samoa and we headed over to Savai'i. Decided to drive the long way round to our accomodation and visit this earthcache along the way. Wasn't difficult to find, paid our entry fee, and met "John" who would come down to the blowholes with us and throw coconuts in. It was a pretty calm day, but the blowholes were still spectacular! Thanks for a fun and interesting earthcache! Big Grin

The four of us had a brilliant picnic lunch on the bank above these. Awe-inspiring power in the water as it shoots up, but my favourite memory would have to be the look on the face - and the gleeful cackle - of the man that put a basket of four coconuts in at once. Looked like a naughty schoolboy who had just got away with it! Thank you so much for the cache.

What a blast, literally!!
Got the full ballistic show, including the not so environmentally friendly glass Coke bottle, which rocketed far beyond the limit of the coconuts.
A party of 2, enjoying all that Samoa has to offer!

Great location and a must see for Savai'i and Samoa! TFTC

This was actually our second time to the blow holes. The previous time was 9 months earlier, but didn't realise that it was a earthcache. Regardless this is a must see on Savai'i and our party of 4 thoroughly enjoyed it (again). We also enjoyed watching the coconuts being launched into the air.

I didn't expect to be doing any Caches on this Island and it was by chance that ended up doing this one. If you do this Cache (and it's a must) remember to take a few Tala with you to pay the crazy woman that comes out from the Fale with a few coconuts and tosses them into the blowhole. We had perfect conditions for this and the coconuts were being sent up a good forty to fifty metres. The place was littered with smashed coconuts and even being behind the line wasn't safe..... A top hoot and we were all in stiches as one after the other coconuts were fired into the sky like they came out of a cannon

A fantastic location for an earthcache. I really enjoyed my visit here, the blowholes are quite spectacular! I was the only geocacher, but a muggle went with me to visit the blowholes. I'll upload some photo's later. Thanks for showing us this amazing place!

TFTC!

A very nice spot. We were pretty late, so unfortunately no one who wanted to show us the famous coconuts Smile However, it was so lovely, so many rainbows!!!!
