perfect spot to stop and let the brakes cool down, shouldn't need a hint it says, how right that was, could see the cache from a long way off, its now hidden from site, tftc
Going to try boot my daily streak up again. Nice fresh windy winter day in dunners. Be careful if youre approaching this cache from the pine hill side there is a sketchy but fun plank bridge. Thanks drawp!
Miss 17 doesn't really like flying, so after she did a whirlwind trip with her friend around parts of the South Island, she asked if I would drive from Christchurch to Dunedin to pick her up. She paid for petrol and accommodation, and said I could cache the whole way! Of course, I said. Cause what Geocachers wouldn't??A quick easy find in the most likely spot. Log a bit damp but still able to be written on ok. Thanks for another smiley.
This area is quite overgrown now but Eva, Arlin and I found the cache by approaching it from above.
Thanks for the cache drawp , not sure how many times I have driven past this cache. Guess it is really only easy to stop for as you head South. Was a reasonably quick find for me this evening as I headed South. Today picking up caches for a challenge. 100 caches from 100 different months including one every year. This one filled a space. Thanks for maintaining all those years.
Found with StreetWalkerNZ en route from Christchurch to Dunedin.
How many times have we driven past this cache? Usually we are pushed for time, but today decided we should stop and have a look. There was already a car parked nearby, with a woman sitting in it talking on her phone. We hoped she was distracted by her conversation and not looking at us.
SW made a quick find, and I did the paperwork. The plastic bag keeping the cache dry was pretty dirty, but it was doing its job. Hope I didn't make the logbook to grubby with my dirty hands. Last cache of the day, thanks drawp. TFTC.

#20606. Lots of parking here, which was appreciated. A bit of a scramble and a quick find. TFTC.
A day for walking up the motorway footpath from our allocated park at the Uni and a tad more convenient than trying to turn around or park in the morning. Chugged away at the gradient taking in the views as we don't often drive up here. Some tree clearing had been done on the Woodhaugh slopes and fence looks new? but heaps of rubbish can be spotted chucked down the slope. Crossed over to the brake check place and gained the bank for a look around. The trees have had a trim so the goings about wasn't too much problem. Undercover at the Rhodos a truck decided to stop, and check his brakes, kept low searching at an obvious feature turning up not one but two caches. A chipped 200ml sistema with 2015 logbook in old baggy and a 50cc tube and RITR logslip started around Sept'19. As peeps local, premium and newbies alike have signed logbooks as found none were any wiser to either else. The old chipped one was dry enough well hidden in duff and got changed for one of my good spares. Incorporated both logs in new bags and returned under an item. The tube was recycled elsewhere. Trod away before another truck pulled in. *RTP 350pt* TFTC Drawp.
Dnf . Any part of the monument? GL, tree/bush? Blindness this one, only leaves and rubbish around.
Thank you, this was our first find out with a small friend on our first "treasure Hunt".
Using the summer holidays to locate a backlog of puzzle caches we have had solved for some time.
Decided to stop in here to have another crack at the Brake Check. Had visited this site unsuccessfully in the past and too a bit of hunting today but common sense paid off.
This is find number 2018!

Our last cache before arriving into Dunedin. A quick scramble and the cache was in hand.
FINALLY. I am so very annoyed at where I eventually found it, I was right over it so many times. Ah well. Tftc, and thank you to the kind cacher who gave me a nudge in the right direction earlier.
This is my fourth visit to this cache and I still have had no luck with finding it. Still thinking about it the wrong way it seems.
Well, there you are then. Sure, have seen this spot several times, drove past it several times, however never paid too much attention to it. This is probably due to the fact that when I normally pass this spot, I tend to be more concentrated on the upcoming corner.
For me, this is why from time to time I tend to have a go at finding a cache: it provides you with an exucse to go and poke your nose around a spot that would have otherwise remained unvisited.
Hence, thank you for hiding this cace here. The cache itself is in good order. The lid is slightly cracked (I suspect at some stage some form of rock fell on it), as a result the inside is quite damp. The logbook, however, is as squeeky dry as a squeeky dry logbook in a cache with a slightly cracked lid can be.
Thank you.

Not the quick and easy find it should have been. I think this was more due to my GPSr starting to become erratic as it gets older than any other reason. I will have to think about getting a replacement soon.
A quick P&G with no one checking brakes when we pulled up at GZ. R made the dash and soon had cache in hand. TFTC
Catching up on some logging ... just 5 months delay with this one. Quick find here ... the cache was very obvious when I looked behind the large obvious object. Dropped in a TB.
SL. Thanks for the hide drawp

#2192. After attending a conference in Oamaru, I had two days in Dunedin to do some sightseeing and to pick up some of the local geocaches. Heading for Mt Cargill I stopped en route to pick up a few caches. This was my first cache of the day. I had parked up on the street above but had to circle around the trees to find the cache. The cache was buried under leaf litter so wasn't easy to spot. But a careful check soon revealed the container. Signed the dry log and left behind a trackable. Replaced cache in same location. Thanks for the cache.
A quick park and grab on way home from an adventure to Rabbit Island and to grab as many caches as one can before going home for tea. TFTC
Didn't want to waste too much time with this one as I was rapidly running out of it, and thankfully this cache proved to be easy (albeit a bit of a pain to get to - literally). I've been past here too many times - today it was time to stop and smell the flowers, as it were. Cheers!
We could smell the burning brakes of passing trucks while looking for this cache. Perfectly named!

I came over to New Zealand to meet my son, who is staying now for more than five months on the other side of the world. Our intension is, to travel now for 4 weeks through this fantastic land and visiting a lot of fine spots on both islands.
Met in Auckland, our first trip led us to the Far North with some spectacular locations. It was a lot of driving, but we think, it was worth the result.
The second part of our travelling route led us to the south. Going via Hamilton with some fine locations, Hobbiton was an absolutely must of our "unexpected journey" . Went then to Tauranga with a hard upclimb to Mt. Maunganui, visited Rotorua to see lot of vulcanic activities, have had a lot of fun with Zorbing and Claybird shooting and drove then to Taupa, to doing Skydiving.
Here we go: Napier with it's beautiful Art Deco district and the great Aquarium was the next stop.
Final destination on the North Island was Wellington, were we visited some great places and met some friends from Germany.
After crossing Cook Strait now we will follow the east side of the southern island down to the most southern point of New Zealand.
Blenheim with its wine yards, fantastic dolphin watching in Kaikoura, the story of earthquake in Christchurch, following the famous coastline down to Dunedin with its beautiful and interesting places as well as the nice city of Invercargill were our main spots on this part of our journey.
Of course, even if it is not our main activity during this holidays, we will looking for some caches, which are laying beside our route.
So this cache was one of those, we've picked up.
Many thanks to drawp for this fine cache and best greetings from Germany.

A great excuse to stop here. A place that many of us locals drive by and never stop to look at the plantings.
Almost gave up on trying to find this one. One more look through THIS pile of leaves. Sure enough, there it was!
My son is at Saturday morning music classes so had a walk up here to retrieve this cache. Left a trackable. Need to hurry back or I will be late
An historic find! This fills our hidden date grid. We have had to travel from Perth, Australia to achieve it. Mr. O. hopped out of the campervan here and probably went the wrong way to GZ, and ended up stepping on the cache and getting brambled. But find it he did, and that's all that matters, woohoo! Thanks for the cache and thanks for it placing on December 2nd...for some reason that's not a good day for Perth cachers to place their hides...
Jess.daphne and I were on a road trip back to Christchurch and what better way to spend some time than hunting for a cache or two? We actually swung back around to grab this one. It was just where we thought it would be. There were a few prickly things around but we managed to avoid them. The cache turned out to be a sistema container which was different from the description, but no matter. Tftc.
Traveling South with Injeanious from Chch to Dunedin for a weekend visit. We found the most caches in one day ever, for us going down, then did even better on the return trip heading back up State Highway 1. This one was well hidden underneath leaf litter etc, TFTC!!
Found with Chosen1978 on way south after weekend in Oamaru area. Checked the brakes, They worked so we stopped and found the cache.
Quickly found and logged the find before Granville86a even realised I had, lol, picked up the Pathtag, TFTC
Spent 20 mins getting wet in the bush until I reread the description and had a look somewhere much more simpler.. Ahh there it is! Maybe gps was off. Left a small PathTags TB
Had a coin on board that wanted to get to Dunedin, short on time and thought this may fit the bill, but it wouldn't fit.
