The third part of our 6-week-journey in Australia took us from Cairns to Brisbane and also led us to this hiding place. Till now, we had such a nice holiday visiting Sydney, Melbourne, Great Ocean Road, Uluru, Kata Tjuta, Alice Springs and so many interesting places – beautiful. Unfortunately, we had no success. We are sure to know where it has to be - but there was nothing "extra".

Ohhhh this is exactly where it says it is! It's ridiculous! Tricky to get out...log still full. Nothing to replace it with. Cached with Aj8386...
Hmmm...lots of magnetic nanos in this area. Nothing to do with the namesake island nearby? TFTC!
Found this cache on our trip along the east coast of Australia. Unfortunatly the logbook was full, so there was no space to write our names in it.
Thanks for this Cache,

Always a great feeling to turn a DNF into a found! tried to replace full log with one of our own but the new logs we had on hand were too big for the nano. Lots of muggles around so had to wait it out to make our move. TFTC
We came out to find a few caches on a nice and quiet Sunday morning before heading north on our travels. We had a dnf here yesterday. Looking in completely the wrong place. Got a wee nudge overnight and had the cache in hand between muggles quite quickly this morning. Log is STILL FULL, believe it or not. Put our initials in some blank spot.

Today, after a total of 9 nights in Cairns and Daintree, we started our journey to Sydney.
Our first night on the journey was planned to be in Townsville. After checked in to the motel and a quick supper my wife and I ended up at the Strand. (The kids wanted to stay at the hotel Room)
Two nanos not to far and not many mugglers to night, lets give them a try.
This was the first find, at perfect coordinates. A little weed had grown just where the cache was hidden so it took a couple of minutes longer to find it.
Thanks for the cache and greetings from Sweden.

Up from Canberra escaping the cold winter this was one of the first caches along the Strand for us today. We were able to lie down and beat the muggles, the real challenge was trying to find somewhere to put our name of the cache. Signed with our small cloud symbol as the log was full. Lovely views on this beautiful tropical winter day, stunning. TFTC
We found this cache during a walk around the sea front after the Flash Mob Event. It was our first cache find in 3 attempts and marked a change in fortunes.
Found it! Great hide. Had first time caches with us. Not a very good first one but very creative. TFTC!
After a night out, a walk along the strand was in order, and of course some geocaching. What a great way to reach my 200 finds milestone.
As we approached the GZ, I was looking for places where the hide may be, instead of looking where my GPS was pointing me. After a search in the more obvious places turned up nothing, I checked my GPS again. Zero'd in, and claimed a smiley.

Tricky little hide and a couple of dnf's made me dubious of a find, but after much searching the cache came to hand. The log was full so we took a photo to prove the find. Thanks for a very clever cache
arrived at GZ and thought we had a good idea of where it could be but after searching everyhwere we had to concede defeat.
We came from Hamilton Island and stopped here for lunch. Of course we were looking for this cache at the seaside. We had no problems with muggles.

Second find in Townsville, straight forward find little to no muggle traffic thanks to the recent weather. Had a nice sit down in the breeze while signing this one, a fair bit of trouble extractracting the log but the it was eventually signed and the cache back in its hide. tftc!
How low can you go. I had some fun with this one on a Thursday afternoon. As I walked all over the are just trying to get GZ. I finally thought I was near it and the GPS would spin around once again. I took stock of the various areas the GPS had given me and decided that I just better start searching before I loose the light.
I went aroun d placing my hand in the usual spots but nothing. So I thought onto the next possible area. Now to make it easier I just sat down and looked like I was having a little rest and looking over the beautiful waters of the harbour.
Fingers do your bit and sure enough something moved but fingers could not pull it away so out came the car keys to attack the unsuspecting micro.
Grabbed, signed and returned and I am away again.

That rare experience - finding a cache exactly where you expect to find it! TFTC.
GeoP took the opportunity to go for a jog along the Strand and continue our cache a day journey. It wasn't peak hour quite yet but I still did a few stretches while retrieving, signing and replacing while a few muggles walked past.
A lovely afternoon for a jog.
A lovely afternoon for a jog.
Easy find by T. Heaps of muggles but extraction from hiding place is easy as sitting down along the Strand is not unusual.
This should have been an easy little find in the evening, especially with a previous finder in company with us. Okay, GZ is about here.... No, I don't think it was there, I'm pretty sure it was further away. Okay, off we go over there......but GZ is now way back over there......hmmm, check some logs.....Oh, it has been moved....okay back to our GZ....... It should be right here.....no, it couldn't fit there.......up pops Mrs Tiedyesmileys with the cache in hand

What a view to Magnetic Island! Too hot to stay in the sun long, so we read the recent logs. Dodge the muggles. TFTC
Found on the NQ leg of our Round Aust trip, see blog - (visit link)

The most difficult thing with this caches is to put out the logbook! Muggles don't realise that you have a problem with your shoe.

Easy peasy! Thanks heaps. Forgot a pen so will have to come back tomorrow to fill out log.

On our way northwards we put in an additional day inTownsville for the Reef Aquarium and some caches. There were not a lot of them up to now but Townsville seems to be a stronghold of caching.
After visiting the aquarium we walked along the strand and picked up each cache in reach. That was a very nice walk. On the other hand we were not alone which made it not easier! Somehow we managed it anyway except for the last one, where there were too many muggles.
After a moment of unsuccessful search I read through the listing, the hint and the logs and then I knew where it has to be. And the second possibility was the right one.

North Qld 2013. Day 10, the second full day in Townsville. Things were a lot busier around here so I had to keep stopping and waiting for a gap in foot traffic. This was another patience needed location and I was happy to get it in the end. Thanks.

Here in Townsville for a few days with Swellerfungus so of course a caching we will go.....
A bit of a wander along The Strand and this is one on our list, and very aptly named coz it is muggle central here at GZ. I had an idea where it might be but was having trouble with stealth and not wanting to be obvious. So eventually I just had to...like most other people...have the shoelace undone...and get down low and grab the cache. Over to a chair to get the log out, sign, roll back up and put inside micro, and another undone shoelace to put it back.
Thanks for the hide insane.cache.posse

Hmmm a tricky one that I missed, but luckily LadySim used her eagle eyes to see it. Shoelaces became inexplicably untied, but I can rely say they are tied up now! Nice hide in full view of the world if they choose to look.
Day three caching with pprass.
We decided to do the town area, as we thought there would be a few less muggles.
A quick find, where else could it have been.

Found at 2:16 PM in the company of The Drovers GAFF1. Getting to the end of the trail here. Lots of muggles now and the wind really getting stronger.
Thanks insane.cache.posse.

We decided to enjoy the sunshine and stroll along The Strand. This was our first cache actually along The Strand. The coords were very accurate and placed us exactly at GZ. Mr Shifter made the discovery in the second place he looked.
Thanks for the sneaky hide.

Another lesson in stealth mode here. And the boys are getting much better at it. Even arriving with their shoe laces undone! After having a look around the phone gps finally landed near GZ and I had a thought where it might be. A tie of geo11's laces and a quick grab. A great place to look out at the water without getting sand in your shoes!

Ferrying away from the pull of the magnetic field we spent the day caching around Townsville. We were surprised how 'muggle free' the area was at this time of day! Once we rechecked the size, the cache was quickly in hand. Accessing the log became the next challenge - yes we are now in!

Superphone had me at 0m smack in the middle of the path. Had a choice of places to visit in every direction with muggles every where at 5am! Might come back at 1am to see if anyone is around then. GO TO SLEEP TOWNSVILLE!

geomum spotted the cache lying next to the hide........ give it a week.
If the clue is a clear indication of the location of this cache, then I'm pretty confident you have been muggled. Saw nothing around the area mentioned in the clue.

We looked for this one a few months ago but it was missing at the time; checked the same spot today and there it was! TFTC in a beautiful spot.
Have just arrived in Townsville for the bi-annual Christmas celebrations with my in laws. Townsville certainly has changed since I lived here in the 90's. Being hot, we took a late afternoon stroll from our hotel along the strand, to the water park. The Crookedkids and their cousins played in the water as the sun set.
On the way back, three kids created the necessary muggle screen, whilst geo-daughter tied her shoelaces and grabbed the cache. First for the first day of the holidays. TFTC insane cache posse.

This morning geoson, wife and sister headed off to the cinema and I promptly called off and went caching instead. I simply headed along grabbing caches were I could around the muggles.
Next stop along the strand had me here. Again the muggles were kind and I had a decent gap to fit the find in. The container was soon in hand and log signed
Thanks for another cache insane.cache.posse

Last time I tried this one it had been muggled, so it was great to see that this one had been reinstated. It is a beautiful walk along here in the morning as the sun was rising. Still, there was a little bit of muggle exercising traffic puffing past, so I used some stealth to retrieve sign and return. Thanks to i.c.p for the cache. TFTC.
