As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been a number of months since the last owner note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. This was very hard to retrieve because of muggles. Came back but still full of muggles. GPS led us to the spot but we will require geokids next time.
We new this would be hard in the middle of the day but thought we would try. We found it to hard with all the muggles around to have a really good look :[ Maybe on our next visit.
Had a few of us search for about 5 minutes and couldn't locate.... Based on the time since last find, any chance we could get someone to confirm it hasn't been muggled?
Did not find it! We were traveling to Hamilton for my Grandfather's 90th and made a stop in Ballarat. We thought a quick bit of caching would be a good break from the 4 hour journey. We spent a bit of time looking in various high places but I did not put my hands on the cache. Maybe next time. Pity to we need to step all over the band stand for this one. Anyway TFTC
We first looked for this cache about a year ago as we returned from a trip to Western Australia. At that time we were unsuccessful. We put the cache "On Watch" and became encouraged when finds were being made consistently. Tonight we returned, having thought about the cache in the intervening time and we had identified some spots which were more likely hides than others. At about 7pm on a winters night, the muggle count was very low meaning that we could search with only limited interruptions. The contemplation paid off - we had our hand on the cache within two minutes. It was great to get this "monkey of our backs". A challenging and enjoyable cache. TFTC ST37E
Our second attempt. The magnet seems to have disappeared. I hope it stays put as we replaced where found. Done in the cover of darkness. A very quiet Sunday night in Ballarat. Nice bandstand. Thanks.
Didn't find it this time but will be back when there are less muggles around. We have a good idea where it is located.
@2215. At night it is a bit easier. I had a feeling that it was where I found it but it took me till the 4th spot to locate it.

Muggle activity made what would have been an easy cache that little bit harder to do.
In any case quickly had it in hand and the log signed.
As was previously mentioned, this cache is in need of a new log book. In addition to this we believe the thread on the container is gone as it would not close properly.

Quickly found, but who would think there would be that many Muggles around on a dark miserable night. Without Muggles an easy find, but... Also log is full and damp. Nano not closing properly. TFTC
Oh no! A nano!

Our 11th for the day. Found it but couldn't log the sign in as it is full so left a piece of paper.

Good to have tall friends, log desperately needs replacing. Found with greggsy2000. TFTC!
Hey guys, I have seen the maintenance logs, but I have been out of action for a while, hopefully I can replace the log in this one soon
A quick find late in the afternoon, with all the yuppies sipping drinks across the road. Wish it had of been me, but no time today Thanks all the same for the cache ST37E BTW, log is overflowing.
One of 184 cache finds during our "Ballarat Smackdown" weekend of caching on the 23rd to 25th. There were 13 of us including Blacklegend and three of his kids, Trailrunning, Haveanez and their two boys, Dazrascal and myself amd my two boys Tyler and Cooper. We'd spent a few weeks planning the trip, with every Ballarat Puzzle solved in the area, cache lists and road and route maps all ready to go. We stayed in the Miners Retreat Motel for the two nights and the accomodation and facilities were great. Our goal was simple - find as many caches as possible in the time we were here !
We found a great variety of caches and hides during the three days, which also involved a bit of walking and some 4WD fun as well in the state forests north of Ballarat. The weather was quite cold of the Friday and Saturday morning but eventually cleared to nice sunny weather Saturday arvo and Sunday. We all had a great time, especially the kids who did really well to keep up with the pace we were moving.
After a short search we found the cache and signed the log. Thanks for the hide.

Night 1 of our Ballarat Smackdown weekend with DazRascal, Blacklegend, Quasar3671 & Trailrunning which seen us collecting a great range of caches over 3 days.
Enjoyed the hunt for the cache which was located with all eyes on desk and kids as the decoys. Long arms sure helped here.
Many thanks for bringing us here - another beautiful spot in the main CBD. TNLN SL. Cheers.

One of 182 caches I personally found during our "Ballarat Smackdown" trip. The trip included teams Quasar3671, Trailrunning, Haveanez, Dazrascal and myself. Caches included around 30 mystery caches, a few earth caches, lots of trads and multis and both day and night caching. Some 4WD action was encountered as well, which was great. All puzzles within 60kms were solved.
I took three of my kids, Jasmine 7yo, James and Jemma 5yo twins, traveling from Tocumwal. The trip covered 3 days and two nights, staying in Ballarat. Quasar3671 took his two boys as did Haveanez. One of the best caching trips I have been on, and certainly lots and lots of finds, almost clearing out the main Ballarat area. Home base was the Miners Retreat motel, which was quite pleasant and quiet.
Found this one on a Friday "night run" after arriving at the accommodation and having a bite to eat. After a stop and look around, we correctly worked out where the nano would be, and after a brief hunt, little bugger was located. Another one where low muggle levels at night helped. TFTC.

Team “Ballarat Cache Smackdown” was formed for the weekend of 23-25 March with the very intention of going hard at grabbing as many caches in the Ballarat area that was humanly possible in such a short period of time. The puzzles within a 60 km radius of Ballarat were solved, some multi’s as well. 4WD’s were packed with all manner of goodies, maps and run sheets prepared, spare batteries accumulated, UHF radios charged, etc. The team consisted of TrailRunning, Quasar3671, Blacklegend, Haveanez and Dazrascal. Home base was the pleasant Miner’s Retreat Motel at a reasonable rate a night for a cabin sleeping 8 people. After a quick bite to eat for dinner the Smackdown started with 34 caches being found on the first night. This was one of them. This one took us a while to locate in the dark but we were glad when we did. Thanks for #33
Found on a Ballarat weekend with Haveanez, Trailrunning, Blacklegend and Quaser3671
Glad to have done this one late at night, not a big fan of high muggle areas. Big Ez finally found the tiny cache, log signed and replaced all unnoticed.

We had been here earlier in the day, but decided too many people were around. Back under the cover of darkness a quick find was made. Love the seats next to the bandstand that are 'for ladies'. TFTC.

I love these oober micro mangnets tftc p.s. Log is very full needs new one had just enough space to initial it
No joy with this one, we didn't climb up because it would look stupid with muggles sitting and drinking coffee nearby so we gave up.
Found it this evening with Landau351 on our caching jaunt around the Ballarat area.
We had some tea across the road, and decided, that despite it raining we would have a go at a few more caches.
This one would be awful in the day time, but when it's raining at night, no problem at all. The 6ft2in Landau351 made the retrieve and replace.
Nice location. Classic aussie Victorian bandstand hide.

08/10/2011 21:42 Off to Creswick/Ballarat for an awesome hard-core caching weekend with my good mate iamapom (Carl). After a very nice meal nearby we figured we would do some walk-by caches. This was the closest. As I am tall, and Carl and I had found one like this last weekend in Mildura we used the same technique to find the cache hidden in a very similar location. TFTC ST37E TNLN SL
Early afternoon searching not good as in full view of nearby cafes.
Hadn't got our eyes on cache and about to leave when some fellow walked to the railing of bandstand, climbed over fence, rolled off top of the fence and onto the chair. At this stage his momentum almost caused him to roll onto ground, but he saved himself, had a lay down for 30 seconds, then got up and walked off across road as if nothing had happened. He seemed oblivious to us being there.
We are out of here, very strange behaviour. LOL

If it's really as high as it seems, there should be a warning, as neither one of us were tall enough to reach it without breaking our necks. We tried, but we're not monkeys. Even the 6'3" one of us had difficulty reaching up that high.
This one could have been hidden anywhere with so many metal pieces at GZ,
but spot-on co-ords took me to the right spot first up.
Thanks again ST37E

# 2295 @ 17:40 and 20/28 on the Ballarat run. SL
There were a couple of people chatting on the footpath opposite so I took a seat and read a couple of logs until they were clear before I commenced the search. I didn't take too long before I had the hide in hand.
Thanks ST37E

Thanks to a good clue and good coords it was easy to locate this one without being noticed. The car was parked in front of a close by coffee shop blocking there view TFTC

Another find with C@H and Kellyhaunts on our 750 km roundtrip caching day, visiting hard-to-reach and infrequently visited caches, finishing with a latenight 300 km dash for 8 FTFs!
No band playing here this morning, but C@H quickly grabbed the cache whilst we distracted the gaze of the muggles in the cafe opposite.

Found just on dusk with Dee from Markndee at 5.45pm. Sent the rest of the team off to buy the fish 'n' chips for dinner. Found on the 3rd high note by GeoPa - lucky he is a tenor Impressive bandstand and tiny micro. SL - it took us longer to get the log back in the container than make the find. LOL. TFTC ST37E
Found with Harrowang in the darkness of this evening. Hopefully the passing traffic and cafe patrons were so wrapped up in what they were doing they didn't cluck their tongues over the grandparents sky larking in the bandstand! Convenient seats supplied for checking the spoils! SL TFAGC
This was the one that we were unsure of today.
However this concern was not needed.
The cache was in the first place we put a hand.
How good is that!!!!!!!
Signed the log then waited for the cars to disappear.
Returned the cache safely to its place.
Thanks to ST37E for this challenge.

We looked High and HIGHER, still could not find the right note.
Not to worry, we will be back at a later date.

Been this this one twice now. First visit was daytime with too many muggles so I went back at night and climbed up all 8 pillers but still no luck. Will be back.
I had no luck in daylight hours because I wasn't able to search all the spots I wanted to unobtrusively. I returned at night and made a quick grab. It's a nice bandstand.
I see we were not the only visitors to this cache today.
I dare say we were the first though.
Just a few coffee shops open, not foot traffic in the area, thankfully

Found by Mary & David at 2015. We've explored quite a few of the POIs along Sturt Street over the years, but not this one. This evening we had a good excuse to really study the structure closely, and there weren't many muggles about either. Our thanks yet again to ST37E.

First find for the day.
Around lunch time on a nice day was probably not the greatest time to attempt this one but thankfully I have had some practice pretending to be a photographer in my spare time, this helped greatly as a distraction while I was climbing over the grandstand "aiming for that perfect shot" under the watchful eye of the alfresco diners on Sturt st and passers by.

Picked a bad day for micro-hunting in Ballarat - everything's being set up for the bike event tonight so there's a general increase in muggle activity, and to cap it off the radio station truck pulls up beside the bandstand just as I start my search!

Totally needed the hint for this one as I scoured the whole thing and came up empty handed. Got dirt all over my hands and must have looked like an idiot to some drivers, but eventually got to write on a tiny slip of paper.
Found this one under a bit of a pretend photography session as suggested by last log. Must have looked a bit dodgy to passerbys, but in this location there is always going to be people driving by.
