This cache needs to be archived or updated given that the CO has moved it to its new home at #3 as per the description of 'Go No Further #3'. This will prevent others from heading out there to do these in order, only to discover they should head from #1 to #3 as #2 has now been moved on.

#1,544

I drove too far down the road, assuming the cache would be at the end. I should have paid more attention to my GPS, maybe then I wouldn't have set off the vicious looking & sounding guard dogs as I turned around.

Then when I got out of the car, some suspicious looking locals pulled their car over & checked me out before driving off in the distance. Once they'd gone I looked around, hoping to find the cache quickly before anyone else came by (& becasue the dogs were still going off their heads down the road). Was about to give up when I looked in the right spot & had the cache in hand.

Thanks Smile

Found with Marcus Vitruvius during a quick run following the Geocaching NSW 101 event.

GZ was very muddy after the recent rains but after a hop, skip and a jump I was across the worst of it to make a relatively straightforward find.

Thanks to The Traveling Smiths for the cache.

# 1258- I had reason to be out this direction on school business today, so decided to pick this one up on the way through. Last time I was here, it was minus the 2. Apprently, I was told after that this hide has changed too- whether by the owner or by cache finders, I'm not sure, but ...I found it anyway.Thanks.

Ok, so i pulled up across from GZ. Before i could get out there was a tap at the window. I was asked 'are you here to pick up the drugs over there' oh dear!! No No i replied and continued to make up something about inspecting faulty poles in the area. At that point i was taken to the place in question and shown what i knew to be the cache. I ensured the person it was not dangerous in any way, and we even inpected it together. I'm claiming the find but i didnt have the nerve to sign it in front of them, nor will i be going back Smile

I remember reading about this one and the dogs a while back. Well even where it is now, the dogs came and started barking. I could see where GZ probably was and we wanted to get out of there. GG saw something amiss and found the cache, I simply fished it out. I SL and replaced. Good one GG and thanx TTS, TFTC.

I finally got the trifecta! Had to go fishing for this one. Bring your tweezers unless you have good fingernails. SL #40

The first one today we didn't get. Stopped and set off the dogs, started to look but felt exposed and a couple of blokes at the nearby house were watching us and speaking loudly, I think about us, so we moved on without having a look.

05-Aug-11
Nice hide, had to delay the grab as there was a herd of cows coming down the road.

Find #1112 - 9 for today. Found on 16/07/11 12:58 PM
A quick and easy find, had to use a extracting implement as it was too dificult to grab onto. Yeah, the dogs were at it again, going ballistic. Thanks. TNSLLN

Having completed “Go No Furthers 1 & 3” in January, was glad to see this one back online to complete the trilogy. Quick one-handed find as I sent a text (not caching related) all the while being observed by a big woolly sheep. Being find number 299 for me, not likely I’m taking the name to heart… I’m going FURTHER!

07-Jul-11
I agree with Calypso62's account. We parked close enough but I wasn't taking the risk with the dogs going balistic at not only us, but each other as well.
Not worth the mauling to get the cache. Will try again at some point.

07-Jul-11
Out on a caching run with Smurfyguy today. OK.... took one look at the dogs who were not only barking violently but also viciously fighting amongst themselves and decided to high tail it out of there! I don't suppose they could get out but we weren't taking any chances!!!

13-Jun-11
Reperio at 1615. The last cache for the day before heading back home to Lake Macquarie, and after circumnavigating GZ, the cache was spotted. The dogs across the road were'nt overly impressed with me being there, but luckily I wasn't there too long for the neighbours to get suspicious.

Gratias.

Found quickly while the dogs were barking at us, all we needed for this was fungernails. Thanx

Our 4979th overall find.

09:43 AM Found this cache very quickly. Matt just opened up his car door and grabbed it and I didn't even have to get out as he had it logged and returned before I had a chance.

Thanks to The Traveling Smiths for the cache.

Finally got this one after it moved locations. TFTC. Thanks Traveling Smiths!

13-Mar-11
FINALLY! We have FINALLY got this one! We had so many DNFs before on this one that I was doubtful of finding even a trace of it in a million years. It turned out that all the other times it was just because we had bad coords.

13-Mar-11
A nice quick find to start our afternoon of caching in the area.

Cheers

13-Mar-11
Wow, looks like a lot of other people found this cache today as well. There were no dogs to bother us on our first find today with Hoojar and Ding.
Cheers.

The WaywardWoman couldn't be with us for this one, since she scalded her throat on Friday night and she now can't talk. After a night in emergency, she was still catching up on sleep today. Once, I might have said that her bark is worse than her bite. Now she's all bite. And after my last DNF on this cache there was no way she was allowing me to leave the house unaccompanied. Canary was given my choke chain today and he duly gave it a yank when that dog started on me again. Sure, the dog's a long way down the road now, but he remembers me. I'm not allowed to say anything else, except that I found the cache, and thank you very much.

I found the cache. Thankyou very much.

09-Mar-11
This was a hide after my own heart!

As I rolled up to the Burfitt Road/Neville Road intersection in rural Riverstone, I wondered what kind of canine welcome I'd receive. I could see from the online map that the CO had made a small location adjustment -- moving GZ back from the very end of the road -- but would those damn dogs find me anyway?

Well, they certainly did know I was there in their territory searching. One dog on each side of the end of the dead end road, about 100 metres distant, began barking as soon as I got out of the GeoBuru2. However, they were far enough away so that they didn't bother me, and were securely behind fences, and none of the neighbours seemed to take notice of me either. So I methodically went on with my search and the yelping gradually died out.

The published coordinates are pretty good, so there are limited places to investigate. Unfortunately, one likely place is a bit overgrown. However, I won't say more here, because I'd hate to 'spoil the fun' of future finders (or non-finders).

Suffice it say that I achieved a quasi-FTF this evening and was the first to sign the new log book in the new location.

I think this is a pretty good hide and it's hard to see. I was wearing my new multi-focals (which replaced the old multi-focals I lost while tracking down a GCA moveable at midnight in Bullaburra in the Blue Mountains) and these seemed to help a lot. I spotted some telltale evidence that can't be mentioned here.

Cache container was in great shape, and the little inner capsule will no doubt keep the log scroll dry quite successfully.

TNLNSL.

Many thanks to the Traveling Smiths for re-establishing this one.

we have re-enabled this cache and have moved it away from the dogs hopefully...

Coordinates changed from:
S 33° 41.553 E 150° 51.728

Coordinates changed to:
S 33° 41.559 E 150° 51.667

Distance from original: 310.5 feet or 94.7 meters.

Re activating #2. Moved a short distance to get away from the dogs.

27-Feb-11
Stupid GPS still had this in it!?!

Any news on what's happening?

24-Jan-11
The COs have reported that this cache has now been removed and transmogrified into 'Go No Further #3' -- so I think #2 should be archived, to prevent more geocachers from 'going to the dogs.'

09-Jan-11
Found it but it was a tricky little hide. I was actually looking at it for a while and if it wasn't for a frog looking at me I would have missed it.

03-Jan-11
Went caching for a few newish local caches with Lessue, Found the barking dog, found the irate property owner, apparently we woke him him up ..... not his dog barking its head off mind you, ... we woke him up. Had a good look around, think I knew exactly what I was looking for, but didn't find it. The property owner hung around his mailbox muttering swear words under his breath the whole time we were there.

03-Jan-11
So we went back today, thinking a break from the cache would allow us to see it fresh. Nope. The last time I looked this hard for a cache it turned out to have gone missing (Six Foot Track). I'm in two minds about this cache.

1. The cache has gone missing since last it was found. Suspect: Irate property owner (See TeamExtreme PC's log)
2. The cache is there but well hidden, and not at the published coordinates (see Deputy Dog's log)

or a third possibility - I can't find caches to save myself.

If the cache is there I'm certain it's not on the sign. I've been all over it and pulled and twisted and looked into everything a basic little sign can have pulled twisted and looked into. Barring the sign there is a big patch of cleared grass all around the sign (see picture) which suggests it could only be well away from the sign (See mind no. 2 with careful consideration of the third possibility, while respectfully considering log by Deputy Dog)

If this is so, there are trees and fences to be searched. If this option is taken there is also the now famous vicious dog (see picture) that likes to follow you up and down the fence, waiting for a chance to tear off some part of your anatomy while all the while barking to alert its vicious owner of your presence.

mmmm???? I said to the WaywardWoman, Is this fun? And we decided it wasn't.

So, unless a) the coordinates are corrected OR b) a better clue is given OR c) the cache is replaced OR d) someone shoots the dog OR e) someone just tells me where the bloody hell this thing is, then I don't think I'll be going back.

So that's score 1 to bikerbuddy (for Go No Further #1) and a big slam dunk against me today from The Travelling Smiths.

There's also Option f) someone kidnaps the Travelling Smiths and tortures them until they spill the beans.

Yeah, someone else can shoot the dog. I'll take option f. Wink

Thanks for your efforts, I think. Big Grin

03-Jan-11
Sorry to the Trevelling Smiths. The dates on the logs don't show it, but this cache was disabled only minutes after my second DNF log. The dog was a pain and I didn't find the cache, but you shouldn't listen to what I say because I'm always talking garbage. It was meant to be a humorous account of a frustrating search - we all have them. Thanks for putting out your caches (we've found 4 out of 5 of your caches) and I hope you don't take anything I say seriously in the future. No one else does. Cheers. Big Grin

02-Jan-11
1st time I looked I saw it but dismissed it as rubbish, second time I looked a little closer...nice work! Thanks for bringing us here Big GrinBig Grin

02-Jan-11
Well, I'm buggered if I know. Searched all over what seemed to be the subject of the cache (and our stated GZ) but nothing gave. After that, there was a lot of cleared grass and fences and trees a further distance off. But Rags got it today. We obviously don't have the right crystal ball for this one yet. We'll keep an eye on it.
