Hi cashkidsThis geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no cache maintenance logged. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived. Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.RegardsTheCoddiwompler

TaurusSix and I are in New Zealand for a three weeks holiday. We love New Zealand and have had lots of wonderful experiences here previously. This time we have decided to focus our attention on three destinations for one week each, all in the North Island. The Coromandel Peninsula, Waiheke Island and The Bay of Isles. We are very mindful of not focusing all our attention of the holiday on geocaching, however it will still play an important part. We are deliberately focusing on caches that involve some walking, great views, interesting attractions , history and general points of interest. And this will all happen in between exploring, swimming , walking, doing touristy things and relaxing .

Day 6 - We are now based for the next little while at Pauanui on the Coromandel Peninsula. Today was a big day we set off quite early and explored Paeroa before heading to Karangahake Gorge and undertaking the full return walk to Waikino- Victoria Battery. It took about one hour to get to Paeroa and it was a nice drive at that time of day as the sun was rising , it was definitely a good example of the “land of the long white cloud” as we made our way through the mountains. Once at Paeroa we explored the town in the best possible way by undertaking the three Adventure Labs that are there. The third one being the legendary L and P one which finished at the L and P cafe where we had a lovely brunch . Next we parked up at the beginning of Karangahake Gorge ready for our big adventure. Along the way we also walked back and forward through the tunnel, checked out one of the waterfalls, explored the old gold town and industrial operations at waikino, really enjoyed the walk and collected all up 14 geocaches and 2 Adventure Labs. Total caches for day 17 traditional, multi, virtual and questions and 25 Adventure Lab elements. Great day all round.

Decided to come over the hill to clear some spots today and make the most of the lovely weather. Found first place I looked. Log wet so replaced log and restocked. Cheers

I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these cache. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

It was nearly goodbye to Gorby, love from Paeroa! I shot past the car parking area as I headed towards the gorge, realised my mistake and pulled over to the left. Thought I'd be clever and do a u-turn on the main HW, that didn't work did it! I had to reverse back into the lane I came from, but traffic was right up my a---, couldn't go anywhere! A huge truck and trailer came to a halt realising my predicament and I was able to reverse in front of him so I could head back the way I came. A stupid mistake and got lots of horn honking thrown my way I can tell ya!

Then I was able to pull off the road... made a quick discovery of the cache and all was well again!

Plans to cache on our way north in Waihi and the Gorge were altered by the Beach Hop being on. We did other things in Waihi and the Gorge stop had no parking so the cache here was very welcome. We then headed into the town to get some lunch.

After planning a trip to the bay of plenty for easter to gather a cache or two, it changed dramatically (we thought) when we heard that cyclone cook was about to bear down on this area our hopes had dropped .
But no almost the complete opposite, so after getting bike and body sorted it was to the start we went and ride the HRT trail, we started in thames and the plan was to ride to te aroha if the body allowed.

Nice quick find here exactly where and how it should be.

Thanks for the smiley and the placement.

This was our very last day in New Zealand. A few more kilometres and a few more caches, then we had to give back the campervan that we had come to think of as ours. A few more hours at the airport and we will board our flight to Paris via Singapore.
New Zealand is such a great country, in almost five weeks we saw so many things and met so many friendly people. We felt good here and it is hard to say goodbye.
Thanks for all the caches and thanks for everything!

Nevertheless, there was one thing we didn't like: the sandflies!

The flax is a grown up by now Wink

30-Jan-17

We took great grandma home to Te Aroha and decided to go back home via Paeroa. Parked van on other side of road and nipped across to find and sign. Van looked like a "safety camera" van so everyone carefully drove past lol. Thanks for the placement
