Well that is a big one. Thats what she said I am amazed at how some of these old trees are still standing, given lots are hollowed out at the base. Goes to show how strong and sturdy they are I guess. Nice hide. Thanks Paul_the_Hippy
That IS a big one! Love these trees and all the moss. We were here for the Aussie Backyard Bird count and were not disappointed. We found some gang gang nesting hollows nearby. Thanks for bringing us here.
One of my favourite locations so far geocaching. Its very wet and I was surprised my car got there in the end I loved this one. Thanks heaps

Believe the wombats aren't good at replacing caches a they found them. Moved closer to the road.
Searched under a couple of likely trees to no avail. Possibly still there in a hole, but I wasn't game to stick my arm in a hole if I couldn't see what was in it
Found with catnap777 in misty rain.
Last week we did most of Paul_the_Hippy's "So Close" series of caches and most of them in the dark. We were so impressed by the series that gives such an eye opening and detailed account of events surrounding Black Saturday that we felt compelled to get back here this weekend to finish what we started. [^]
This place is amazing. The whole drive up here was spectacular. We are definately coming back up here in warmer weather.
That is a big one. A great one, and the cache is a well hidden one.
TFTC and showing us this place Paul. [^]
All caches today were found in good condition, and we signed the log from this newish looking container just after n0w0rries and +wife but there is no clue for Q in this cache. [8)]

We were back to finish this series of caches that we started last weekend. We stumbled on them quite by accident, but we are glad that we have had the chance to, not only sign the log on these trads and their mystery cache, but most importantly, learn so much more about the fires that ravaged this beautiful area, and caused so much heartache to so many.
Paul, you told the story of these events with great understanding and sincere compassion. You enlightened our knowledge of what occurred and gave us a greater understanding of how nature repairs, rebuilds and copes with human activity and sometimes, I am sad to say, misadventure and stupidity. The price of bureaucratic bungling cost all things living so much.
We could sense how raw your emotions were at the time you placed out these caches; we hope the passage of time has eased the pain, and allowed peace to settle back in.
Thank you for allowing us to experience and see nature "coming back".
TFTC. RIP to those who we have lost......

Some big ones here mate. This one is a beauty. The treasure was located and the cache soon afterwards.
Container in great shape. Log book clean and dry. No leeches for us. [^]
A couple of rocks sitting on top to stop the critters making free with the cache.
In the area with +Wife searching for #6,500 (successfully too)
Found Phoenix #1 on the way here and may have found the Furmston Tree soon after.
Thanks for the caches Paul. Hope to see you down our way some time soon.

### **OWNER MAINTENANCE REQUIRED PLEASE** ###

Hi there Paul_the_Hippy,
It looks like this cache might need some attention, as one or more seekers have indicated there is an issue. The cache has been temporarily disabled, so as to remove it from search listings and discourage people from visiting this location until the issues/s with this cache can be addressed.
**You do need to respond in some way within 14 days, so others know you are on top of it, as well as indicating exactly what is happening with this placement - please don't let a lack of communication scuttle this listing.**
#What should you do now:-#
You have a number of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:-
- **Check On The Cache:-** Visit the cache and repair and/or replace or do whatever else is needed, post an [**Owner Maintenance log**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) indicating the cache has been checked and [**ENABLE your cache**](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ). Then sit back and wait for the logs of praise to roll in.
- **Place A Write Note Log::-** Reviewers don't have a crystal ball, so without your note on the cache page explaining that the site works are on-going, or you have been in hospital, or the area is in flood, they can't tell what is going on with the cache.
So please just post a note to the page (within 14 days) and when a Reviewer next looks at the listing, all will be fine for a little bit longer.
**Be sure to indicate the actual date that you expect to have it fixed so that everyone knows you are on top of it. If you have a long term unavailable cache (where you don't have an actual date) please ensure you visit the page and post a note every 4 to 6 weeks, so as to keep everyone up to speed.**
- **Adopt/Archive:-** If you don't plan on fixing it then you could consider passing it on to another geocacher by asking them to [**Adopt it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=54) or alternatively, you need to [**Archive it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=56), so it is removed from searches and someone else can have the spot. Don't forget to remove any remnants of your previously enjoyed cache too.
You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of those. Well, if nothing happens, then a few weeks from today, when a Reviewer next looks at the cache page, it is likely that they will, unfortunately, have to de-list (Archive) on the basis that it has been abandoned.
Honestly, I'd rather you decide so please do something before then. Please don't send me an email but instead follow the information/advice posted above.
**JUST A TIP:-** Have you checked out the new Geocaching Dash Board designed to assist a Cache Owner in managing the caches they own? Have a read about it [**HERE.**](https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2020/07/welcome-to-the-cache-owner-dashboard/?newsletter=PM) You will find your very own dash board [**HERE**](https://www.geocaching.com/play/owner?utm_source=geocaching&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=COD).

I am leaving this active. Fairly recent replaced with walk in the rain paper and double bagged under a fairly good pile of trees and reported by people at the time who had 30 odd finds and complained about leeches in the bush. It will be checked in due course and will be prioritised which is why I wanted the needs maintenance icon to stay on it. But I have no choice but to remove it now.
Belated log for 1st July. A bit unexpected hide. Spent a wonderful day (7 July) with 3 members of ILookedThere. Left Wang about 8.30 destined for Warrawilla rainforest walk. As Jodie pointed out in previous log, the walk we wanted was closed. The other walk was not ideal so we ventured on to our Caching. Yes, what magnificent specious of trees adorn the region here. Thanks to all CO's for placing the caches we enjoyed finding today. Some caches were truly water damaged and COs of those have been informed.
A beautiful winters day so Spiffy- and my geopartner headout out. Mt St Leonard was the target location as I had never been and it is visible from home.
This was to be the last for the mountain but we were having fun and the day was good so made a quickish find and on our way!
Thanks to Paul_the_Hippy for the placement and fun.

Found at 2:25 pm.
It was a beautiful winters day and Fleabag- has had a recent inkling to climb mountains for some reason. I was glad this one wasn't a 12km walk like a couple of weeks ago. Gladly, later in the day I was very glad to have brought 4WD as we drove my deeper into the forest after this fun trip up Mt St Leonard. Some quite slippery muddy rutted sections further in.
As we headed deeper into the forest a quick stop here and a scary dark hiding spot we soon had the log signed and we were on our way.
Thanks Paul_the_Hippy for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Tried giving this one a shot, thought we'd found it in the first 10 seconds but just turned out to be an empty jar.
This was another one that we tried for in the past with no luck. This time we had a torch and had time and 'space' on our time with no muggles about. Finally we had the GPS settle and made the find. Amazing trees along here that looked fantastic with the low cloud. Thanks for all the caches.

We were sure we had the correct tree as there aren’t many with open root systems. However even with a very bright torch, still couldn’t find it. We were also not prepared to put our hands in the tree. Beautiful area though.
Tried this on the way up the mountain gps couldn't locate. Found on the way back tftc
New cache in place. Made it really obvious if you look from the right angle.
I looked for this one for a few minutes bearing in mind what the hint said, but couldn't spot anything. Didn't really want to poke my hand around in the dark holes, but I did try using the torch on my phone to spot something. Tried a couple of other trees too just in case the coords were a little off.
Gave up perhaps a smidge quicker than I would have if I hadn't seen a string of DNFs here... but it didn't seem to be anywhere really obvious.

Had a good look even using the hint but no cache to be found. If it’s that far into the tree I wouldn’t be game placing my hand not knowing what’s in there. Hope it’s found by someone soon.
Looked in every cranny under that tree but nothing there.
Would have groped by hand into the blind spots but an earlier encounter with a red bellied black snake stopped us using that technique.

We looked around and in every tree but had no luck today.
Awesome specimens though.
Thanks anyway.

There are certainly big ones around here, but unfortunately the cache itself wasn't big enough for us to find.
Thanks anyway for pointing out these great trees, Paul_the_Hippy.

Found fairly quickly, but couldnt get it out of its hiding spot, but was still able to extract the log. Gotta say the tree os very big
I didn’t search for long so didn’t search as thoroughly as I should have. Today was to be 37 degrees so was eager to get my hike done before it got too hot. GPS was bouncing around a lot. Good excuse to come back to this area.
The day had turned into the cold but otherwise suitable day for caching that was forecast and so after some lunch in Toolangi, I set off into the Toolangi Forest for the caches I had specifically planned to look for. Using the theory of finding the furthest cache first, I had driven well past this cache as I made my way along Monda Road and stopped for it on my way back. This particular cache was a specific target for the day... I am working on the "So Close" series... so I was a little concerned with the previous log being a DNF but I persisted and I did eventually find the cache and sign the log .
Thanks **Paul_the_Hippy** for a cache in rather pleasant location...

This one took a lot longer than it should have, but eventually I found the correct tree. tftc.

**Traditional Cache Find #1999**
I headed out early today with SteMicMitSar to target a group of Letter box caches that were of particular interest to us. Some magnificent trees in this area and with the ground around them clear, their size could be really appreciated. The satellites didn't really want to play here, but eventually the hide was found and the log signed. Thanks for bringing me here.

Today I headed out with biggles1024 in search of a few letterbox caches but before we got to those we made a detour and found a few along this road.
We both headed for GZ but my GPSr had me at one tree and Marks had him at another, Mark won and found the cache.
**Thanks to Paul_the_Hippy for placing this cache.**

Our GPS also had us wandering all over the place and we first off investigated the closest big one to GZ. On finding nothing there, we tried the next closest and so on until we came up with the goods (finally). The cache was retrieved, log was signed and all was returned to where it was found. Many thanks to Paul_the_Hippy for placing this cache and for bringing us to do some travelling today along these forest roads.
Interesting note about the return of the grass. These trees are indeed rather big innit. Our problem (by which I mean jimbo_80 and myself) was that several of them looked potentially like 'the big one' so we examined quite a few at length. GPS wasn't being as helpful as it could have here, perhaps unsurprisingly. But it was found eventually in a fairly secure spot. Thanks for luring us out here Paul_the_Hippy!
Very impressive, these mountain ashes. It's such a lovely area here. We searched a few big ones, but no cache, so we expanded our search area and soon found it, thanks!
Didn't know a few dnf made a reason for a reviewer to disable a cache. There is no needs maintenance requests and the cache in march was still there in the hollow base of a large tree. Probably has a few leaves on top now.
###**CACHE OWNER ACTION REQUIRED**###
This cache is carrying one or more logs which suggest some attention by the cache owner is needed.
The guidelines advise that the CO should make occasional visits to check on the cache as well as promptly address any logs that indicate that the cache requires some attention. If you can not attend to the issue promptly, then you need to Disable the cache - I have disabled it this time.
Please respond to this situation (or indicated your intentions including a date) by **14th October**, otherwise it will be necessary to withdraw the cache from the Active listing. The [Geocache Maintenance guideline](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#cachemaintenance) explains a CO's responsibility towards checking and maintaining the cache when problems are reported.
**And don't forget,** once you have addressed the issue, post both an "Owner Maintenance" log, see here; [Removing the Needs Maintenance Icon](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) and an "Enable Listing" log, see here; [Temporarily Disable and Enable ](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ) to get your cache up and running again.

I look for big ones I looked for small ones. I think I have looked everywhere:-( now hungry and getting a little cranky I think I have to walk away. I just could not get the gps to settle on one stop. It would settle than jump 10m.
I have loved coming here today. This has given me a reason to come back

I must of just missed it

21/01/2017 16:11 This one was a bit tricky with the phone GPS all over the place and being rather unhelpful. Despite being told to hurry up by the wife I eventually found the correct tree and a quick find thereafter. This was a relief to find a regular sized container here. Due to the huge gaps under most trees you could almost hide a 5 litre container as the odds of anyone just stumbling on it are pretty small. I certainly hope these trees stay upright despite missing most of their trunk TFTC Paul_the_Hippy TNLN SL
We search for about 10 minutes with no luck. The GPS was moving around a bit and we search all of the Big Trees for signs of the cache without any luck. Perhaps next time.
Out on a recon mission for a nearby cache early Wednesday morning and also grabbing a couple of additional caches along the way.
Found a couple of big ones straight off but obviously not the biggest so I searched and I searched and finally found a whopper. So big I wasn't sure what to do with it so I encircled it a few times and finally it ejected a surprise.
Signed and returned and on my way...
Thanks for placing this cache Paul_the_Hippy

Looked for this one on the way up and again on the way back with Eudes but couldn't find it today.
Another quick and easy and interesting cache as we we work our way through this area today. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
A lovely day to go out walking in the hills. I picked this area as its not too far from home. Nice tracks and years since i have hiked around here. Thanks for all the caches around. Most were in good condition. Some flooded though i drained all the water and tried to dry the log books out. They all look like they will be fine. Cheers
Out this morning at silly o'clock with poptoppete doing a little hiking and light 4x4 driving. What a wonderful spot to escape, the views were fantastic, love looking down on clouds in the valleys, could just see the city at times and a few Roos/wallabies scampering around. Thanks for the adventure. Tftc Paul the hippy.
Found with Gunks during early morning hike.

Finally found with clue from Rodfa. Gps had us searching away a fair bit from gz. A little help from softicus and bonstar today we got it without too much of a search Log book is a bit wet though
Coordinates were a fair bit off in this overcast afternoon but after reading a previous finder's comment and discovering "number 16" we were soon on the right track and had the cache in hand. Unfortunately we couldn't sign the log book because the book was damp and the pen wasn't working. Thanks for taking us out to see these magnificent giants.
Found it with the help of Bonstar and Rossvdv. Awesome area for a walk and taking in the sights of these magnificant trees! Tftc! Better bring your own pen for this one
Multiple GPSs had us all over the place here, but finally Happy feet got close and the previous finder's log helped us out some. Thanks for the hide and bringing us here.
In the area catching up with family so took the opportunity to grab a few caches. After a bit of a search, came up with the goods. Thanks FTC Paul.
Wow!! The beauty and history. Doing a reci for a future 4WD club trip. Great location. Looking forward to caching in this new area on an awesome day. Falling in love with this area...thank you so much for showing me this area. Absolutely stunning. TFTC
After searching every other big tree in the clearing we finally found this one on the edge. A good clue could be "17".
A great day of 4wd geocaching with Bonny Black. I have ridden (mtb) past all these caches in a previous life as a muggle. Thanks Paul for this series of caches. Clever Monkey's log is worth reading.
No guardian snakes this time. It was still a toss up as to which tree to attack. Of course we chose the wrong tree first, then moved to the other tree and found it. (It's always the other tree)
Thanks Paul
#4 on a day out with Faulksi.

Out and about but failed to unearth his one.
To many possible hides and spent time at GZ but no luck for us!
To many possible hides and spent time at GZ but no luck for us!
As for a lot of the previous logs, my GPS couldn't make up its mind which tree holds the cache. First I tried the one on the left then the one on the right. Nothing to be found. OK back to number one, that was when I spotted the large tiger snake lying in my path, watching me approach with its head flattened. Oh no this was my second encounter with snakes today. Today was a cool day and I wasn't expecting this sort of problem. OK back off, this is its domain. I'll come back another day.
After fighting with the gps for 20 minutes the cache was found in "the other tree". And Logie and I continued our Toolangi your at 13:44. TFTH
I wish that I had the time to scale the mountain as well as finding this one. Actually lobster6 7 found it. I intend to return.

Found while trying out my new phone/GPS. Having a leech crawl out from my sleeve while driving home after caching is not an experience I want to repeat. Thanks Paul.
Made the trip out to Toolangi this afternoon after finishing work early and headed out along this road to grab a few caches. This was my first find along here and it was soon located after a short search. The area around the gz was quite damp but the log book and contents were fine. Tftc Paul the Hippy and for bringing up this way, and yes it certainly is big!
Find #1165 logged at GZ at 14:33. T4TC !
Knowing that the CO was on duty at the fire spotting tower, I headed up this way for the day to say hello. I needed a day with a lot of green around me. It was hot and humid in the city, but up in the hills it was perfect. The drive across from the Melba Hwy just got better with every curve and turn. I arrived to an idyllic site that was lush and quiet. Then while getting the two caches off the roadside, a massive timber truck rumbled through. They are cutting more trees up here....
Thanks not only for the cache, but for being there Paul_the_Hippy!

The rain was now constant and quite heavy but being brave and dedicated geocachers, kmace and I continued down Monda Rd to this cache.
We parked close by and walked briskly in the pouring rain to GZ. The co-ords on my GPSr jumped around a bit, probably due to the cloud cover and huge trees. We had circled GZ a couple of times when kmace finally found the cache in a less obvious spot that I thought we'd already searched. We signed the log at 5:00 pm and then returned the cache to it's hiding spot. TNLN. kmace advised me to write down the clue that was in the cache, not that I knew what it was for but I guess I will check up on it sometime.
We quickly headed back to the car to dry off. Just as I was getting in the car I noticed something wriggling on my track pants...oh no, a leech! I then really freaked out as there were at least half a dozen of them on me , most of them quite small thank goodness which meant I hadn't been bitten. I don't know what attraction I had that kmace didn't, unless they liked my trackies better than her jeans. [8)] I checked later and no bites. Phew!
Thanks Paul_the_Hippy for the well-hidden cache and the memorable caching experience. The huge mountain ashes were incredible. I would have taken a photo if the weather hadn't been so bad.

Found this one with ladioactive. Initially I looked in the wrong place but ladioactive went to the correct tree and after looking around a bit this one was found by me. I was surprised at where it was but the cache is fine. Signed log but didn't swap anything today. I collected the clue for the So Close cache. Ladioactive picked up a lot of leeches at this cache which freaked her out.
Thanks for the cache Paul_the_Hippy.
Thanks for the cache Paul_the_Hippy.
Found it! The Walkabouter's were out and about today doing the Tanglefoot Loop walk. Didn't find the right tree when I looked on the recon walk in July. Today it was a quick find in dry warm weather! TFTC SL
Nice quick easy find. Lovely drive from the previous one in this series. Thanks Paul.
The GPS was tracking to the second of two really big trees. After having a really good look around this tree and not coming up with the bounty, we turned our attention to the next largest tree 12 metres away. after a good look around we found the cache. A small leech was travelling on my sleeve as we made our way back to the car so becareful around the GZ. Thanks Paul FTC and showing us these magnificent giants of the bush.
Suprisingly damp here for the middle of summer after just a day or so of decent rain. Finding the correct tree given my dodgy GPS-finding in the tree cover was one thing, even then finding the angle of approach was another thing! Such a beautiful forrest due to these monsters. TNLN TFTC
Found at 1.10pm
Lots of big ones around here, a beautiful forest,
GPS'rs don't like tall canopies, and we found that we had to hunt around to locate the cache,
Meredith was in tune today, quickly finding each and every hide.

Thanks

Drove a bit further down after leaving the mountain, to grab the two nearby caches. This one I made harder than it should've been, I was looking at the wrong tree (about 10m further in, there is a burnt out stump that would make a great cubby. It's huge! Once I found the cache I decided it needed some help so I left about half a dozen kids toys in there, to beef up the contents a bit. Thanks for the cache!
Found at 11:34 AM GAFF5 in the company of Rebel Acts. We headed for what we thought was the biggest one, but it didn't hold the cache - it's hard to tell which is the biggest isn't it? Cut myself on the grass and managed to find a blood sucking leech on my leg[:(!]
Thanks Paul_the_Hippy
Thanks Paul_the_Hippy
Found while touring the area with Pprass, once again we had to check a few areas before we found the cache, coords were a fair way out, I took a reading, it may get you closer. Thanks for the cache.

Wow has it been that long? I tried to find this one March last year and I still remember the day. This time there was beautiful sunshine and no rain. The box revealed itself pretty quick but I still had the hint in my head Paul sent me over a year ago.
