The Cambridge Recorder is no longer! The Gas Company decided to take it away to the place that these objects go when they are no longer. So, we have also decided to archive the cache.
Second attempt however this time lacking a certain large round metal object. If memory serves correct it was once in this now disturbed patch of dirt :/
We did a different cache in the general area named "What is it?" and it would have been a suitable name for this cache as well. However, I scrolled back to prior logs and got some good leads off what TEamAstro posted. It confirms what the guys (Moneydork and Honeysucker) surmised while I was rolling up the log. TFTC PS. not sure the container is a secure as its supposed to be. May want to check that it is stil satisfactory -- I reckon its on the verge of going missing.
Had a good for this cache with Team Pedal Pushers and could not find it. Noted the last couple were DNF. May need to be checked.
Looked good and hard in the dark, no traffic around to disturb us, but we'll be darned, no nano in hand, left with tail between legs
Happy to have found this one since it's been replaces, a small cache indeed!
Something about this location has a feeling "I've been here before", but I haven't!
Oh well searched and found and signed for what turns out to be my 400th cache!!(Yeah).
Looking back in the logs, my guess at to it's function seems to been narrated by others. So I must be right!
TFTC. TNLN (obviously).

Quick find in the dark on my way home from work. Could not find out anything about the Cambridge Recorder, will have to keep looking! Thanks for the cache Trail06.
Greetings from Tasmania
Found this cache while on a caching trip to Adelaide. Found some great caches while there including a 5 difficulty traditional (I'm a Bastard 2), a 4 terrain traditional (Tapleys Bird) and many great hides in great locations through out Adelaide. Thank you Adelaide cachers for planting so many good caches. My wife did ask me to pick a favourite, and I think Besser Block Mail Box would have to be it, by Tamam Shud, Zen and the Art of Geocache Maintenance and the two above would be up there as well.
I did manage to find 250+ caches in the 5 days I had caching in Adelaide, and would like to thank Astro and Freddo for taking me on a night cache on the first day and Astro for giving me a couple of hints on some that I was stuck with.
Let me apologies for the generic log, especially if I have found more than one of your caches.
A great item to highlight. Really enjoyed this cache

A really interesting cache. It was good to read the log to find out what others had discovered about the Cambridge recorder.
Out for a night's caching on my own. The locus cache event that occurred here was number 13 of 21 caches that I managed to find: sadly, and unusually, tonight I also had 4 DNFs out of the 25 caches I visited.
Hmmm, that strange thing there? [?]
Interesting object for sure. Now I need to Google it to find out how it works

Sixth find of the day and first Aussie nano. I used to love finding these in the UK. (My favourite kind of cache) SL TFTC
Closest to home cache and I have never gotten around to actually finding it!
Grabbed it on the way home from school on my bike.
Quick find and sign.

A quick find while geoson was at training, not seen one of these recorders before TFTC
Impressed geomum with just how small these can get! I too would like to know what this is!
Awesome cache! Easy find! Very interesting too, enjoyed looking over the location and reading what was said on it.

An interesting device. Log book is totally full and i couldn't write anything.

Yep, I think I squeezed my name in the very last little space in the log!
I think the gadget is a speed radar from days gone past. If the milk or bread cart goes too fast the horse hooves would wake the neighbours who would complain to the council and this gadget took their photo so they got less chaff in their nose bag. The horse I mean. Did they even have photos back then? I think there were box brownies not green cambridges. Nice nano - not so hard to find like they usually are. TFTC

Found today in the company of a muggle friend. Parked, short walk, found, signed (managed to squeeze initials right at the end), replaced, recorded some cambridges, left. TFTC
P.S. Managed to squeeze initials right at the end, now it's proper full.

Great I have passed this a thousand times. Easy find. Log book full but I managed to put my name in but no date. Thanks Trail06
No idea what it is, cept maybe something to do with the sewer system? Measuring outflows of gas? lol
Spawn of Satan, but appropriate and easy to find in this case!
Thanks

Found on a caching night with The St Clair Clan. This is our first nano and I am amazed that paper even fits!!! TFTC!
We can be added to the list of not knowing what a 'Cambridge Recorder" does. SL TFTC
After finding numerous Why am I here?s today, this was a refreshing reminder of why I cache. TFTC A fav point from me!
Found by Team GeoCoopers.
Only a few blocks from home after my morning walk from Seacliff.
Thanks Trail06.

What a fascinating piece of equipment! It's the first time I've seen one of these, and would love to learn more about them. Cache was found after a quick search.

Odd looking item and Google ditn't shed any light.
Probably some sort of machine for monitoring the gas or measuring for leaks.

A few old muggles had full view from their window. The little ones and I did a pretty good job pretending to be interested in the Cambridge recorder. Actually I was quite interested in what that thing was?TFTC
