Wellington's Windiest Picnic Table is now just a table. Maybe the constant exposure to the salt spray and gales saw the demise of the seats.
It looks very forlorn so I'm going to take the opportunity to retire this cache, one of our most popular but also high maintenance. C'est la vie!

As others have said the picnic table is in fairly bad shape. The cache might disappear if they decide to fix it.
A nice spot.
Found with hayleyhnz, hannahhnz and hollyhnz after doing some ice skating in the nearby facility.
Thanks.

Not so windy today, but could be one of Wellingtons worst picnic tables. Cache all good though.

20-Apr-18
In the area this afternoon for the first time as a geocacher and enjoying getting a few.
With this one I concur 100% with the previous logger.

And yes it was windy

#455. Having taken a friend geocaching for the first time, and come up with 2 DNF's, K was determined to find this one. Bingo! First place I felt. Nice easy park 'n' grab. Now to go back to those other 2 some time. Tftc.

During my holiday in New Zealand I stay on the campground nearby. So it was a easy walk to visit this place. It wasn‘t windy today Smile.

07-Oct-17
After I visited the first cache of New Zealand I continued my trip around Wellington.

It was raining all day - so perfect to go for some caches.

Quite a cold day but at one point I rented a bike to go for spotting Pinguin - unfortunately without success. Anyway, it was a nice but short trip to New Zealand .

Thank you very much for the nice and good maintained caches and all the best from Switzerland

Nice quick find on a perfectly still winter morning. Didn't last long though, as the Southery picked up and the rain began to fall soon after we left gz. Favourite point added for the very entertaining description!

A bit of a habit coming down this road now. Quick find where all good at GZ. Thanks for another smilie.

Did you know that planning has started for a Mega Event in Wellington in 2018? Check out the details on the [Wellington Event NZ (WENZ) Website](https://sites.google.com/site/wenzgeo2018/home) or visit the event's page on [FaceBook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/590545297801072/)

Thanks to the Cache Owner who has gone to the trouble of creating this cache, determining the coordinates and then averaging them to make sure they are accurate, placing the cache and registering it online for our enjoyment. Without Cache Owners doing their bit, there wouldn't be a fun hobby that we all love - so again a big THANK YOU. For our bit, all we need to do is find and log the cache that was carefully placed for our personal enjoyment. As we log it we should consider that the Cache Owner also needs to maintain it - when the log sheet fills up, they must replace it. When the container becomes full of water, they need to empty it. When the container is broken, they need to repair it. When it goes missing they need to find or replace it. Well..... the great news is we can do our bit too - make sure your log doesn't take an entire page - just a name and date. If full of water, empty and dry the cache as best as possible. Be careful when handling the cache and make sure you replace it where you found it. If it has a bag, seal it. Just remember - the Cache Owner showed respect to you by placing the cache - please respect them and fellow cachers that follow you by being careful with the cache. And if you have a spare log sheet and the cache you are at needs one, please leave it behind. Finally, if the cache does need maintenance, please let the Cache Owner know - you can log a Maintenance Log or you can drop a line to the Cache Owner. Above all - have fun and remember the Geocaching Code.

Quick find, all good here!

05-Mar-17
I was checking on caches that i had not visited or had not logged and discovered a small group of caches that i had or Did Not Find and which had not been logged so these are rather late logs. I drove around behind the main road and around the coast line on this port road. I had previously found a couple on port road but needed to complete this coastal route and locate the caches along here. This was my second stop.
This certainly is a windy spot and i do not imagine many would partake of a picnic at this spot. the day i visited was extremely windy! Thank you for this cache and another smiley face.

26-Feb-17
Nice view, TFTC

19-Feb-17
(un)fortunately I picked one of those 0.87% days to come visit this world famous tourist attraction. The biggest challenge in completing this cache was getting access to the table between muggles using it for a picnic (how inconsiderate of them). Quick find, cache is in good condition. *TFTC anzac61 #130*

I think we got to the right spot, and could see a rusty outline mark where the cache might have been.

Desolate industrial windswept area, day threatening rain… but easy find and fresh logbook improves things; TFTC

13-Nov-16
I wanted to do this yesterday when it was blowing a gale to keep in character with the cache description. Muggles ruined that plan. Returned today for a quick find on a pleasant decidedly non windy day. TFTC.

14-Apr-16
Had flown to Palmerston North with our sales account manager to visit a few customers and then drive down to Wellington to visit some more.

Luckily everyone at works knows about my geocaching addiction and trips like this have to accommodate a couple of finds.

Was driving around here searching for the next customer to visit and past this and thought to myself gee that would make an awesome place for a cache.

Arrived early at customers and my work colleague says did I want to see if we could find a cache. I checked and what do you know. There was a cache in the VERY spot I thought would have made a good hide.

We drove to GZ. I jumped out and bought the cache back to the car for signing duties. Returned to its hiding spot and jumped back in the car.

We arrived back at the customers with 10 minutes to wait until our appointment!

Easy to find .... nice mild southerly tonight should make the ride back to naenae quick

25-Mar-16
Out and about in cold southerly drizzle on Good Friday morning. Stopped by this location to see what I could find.

To my surprise there were a few people around and I had to wait for a lady and her two dogs to go past before I started the search and completed the log.

Thank you

What stunning views from this windy spot. The cache was a quick find (what a strong magnet!). Signed log and returned cache, then admired the view for a while. Very windy today, I watched a yacht taking advantage of the summer sunshine and the wind. Thanks for the cache. Worth a FP.

20-Dec-15
On holiday from England and to celebrate our 60th birthdays we are exploring New Zealand for 30 days in a campervan. We are trying to find a few caches in every place we visit. Today is day 11 of our trip and we had an hour or 2 to spare before catching our ferry over to the South Island. As this area wasn't too far from our campsite we thought we would come and find some before going to the ferry terminal. We went straight to this one, but as the name implies we had to make sure we held onto the log sheet, otherwise it would have gone flying. TFTC

19-Nov-15
Found this one while on a holiday from our home in Whangamata. TFTC

25-Dec-14
Not so much wind today, and almost free of muggles this evening. The lid has come away from the rest of the container, but this is usually the case for these types in marine settings. However it still holds on with a firm grip, much like the container itself! TFTC
