Found during three weeks away with e.gregory1 on a trip along WA's Great Central Road and a caching circuit of the WA Goldfields. We travelled North on the Stuart Highway and out to Kings Canyon to Uluru and Kata Tjuta. From there we headed in a south-westerly direction along the Great Central Road with a number of detours along the way, including Surveyor Generals Corner and Empress Spring. Then it was down to Laverton and Leonora before turning South to Menzies and Kalgoorlie. A few days were spent on a circuit back up to Lake Carey and around to Queen Victoria Spring before returning to Kalgoorlie, then out to Coolgardie, Kambalda and Norseman, and heading for home along the Eyre Highway. The WA Goldfields is a fascinating region of incredible scenery and history that we experienced over a number of days while touring the area. Thanks for the cache team plats!

Found on another enjoyable trip with FeatherWaite over 3-weeks through South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia. This time the plan was to head up to Kings Canyon, across to the WA border via Uluru and Kata-Tjuta, then down the Great Central Road, with a few side-trips along the way before eventually getting to the Goldfields and then home via Queen Victoria Springs and the Eyre Highway.

We had some mixed weather to start, with a few overnight showers initially, but mostly warm and sunny days. The nights were often cold though!

After refuelling and restocking in Kalgoorlie, we decided to do a quick circuit out to Lake Carey, then down to Queen Victoria Spring and then back to Kalgoorlie via the Trans Line Access Road in time for the event later in the week. It was ambitious, but we had the required permit to transit through the Cundeelee Reserve and managed to cover the 800 kilometres within the 3 days we’d allowed, finding all the caches along the way, including two first to finds.

We were a bit confused about where the track into this one started, but once we found it, the drive in was straightforward. We parked down from the cache at what appears to be a well-used campsite before walking up to have a look at the battery.. The well concealed cache was found after a short search.

Thanks team plats for the cache.

We found this cache at 0621pm after a short search Big Grin - and the container and log are as noted in the Fieldnotes below. TN, LN, SL. Out for a 4x4 adventure with N2O Beaker and Team Red Roo.
What a cool drive up here. It was sunset when we arrived so being dark added an extra element of adventure to this search. Beaker was the eagle eye who spotted this. I need to come back when its light to check out the view. Great place for a hide - thank you
I found your cache team plats which added to my adventures. Thanks for placing it. Your cache makes my 6160 find.

pug002 went to find this 3/11/20, due to the heavy rain the night before the road was impassable we got as near as 1km, but as we did not have any recovery gear and no signal decided we would do this next October when we hopefully come again and our Kal friends are familiar with the area. Thanks for putting out the cache team plats. Smile

We headed back to Kalgoorlie for Christmas, and I wanted to make sure I grabbed a few caches, so we headed for Bulong.

What a great spot for a cache. A beautiful view out over the salt lake, and very interested by the remains of the old battery. We stopped for a while and the better half took a few photos. Better head back to Kalgoorlie to continue the festive celebrations.

TFTC team plats.

team plats, I found your cache Flat Battery on 24/12/16.

Unfortunately didn't want to risk the car or ruin the rest of the trip so turned away around 1km from the cache.
Possibly on next visit to Kal we will find this cache with a different car also

Went on a trip from Perth to Kalgoorlie down to Esperance and then back to Perth. Spent 6 days finding, hiding and even maintaining caches along the way.
The majority of caches were found easily and in good condition even some archived ones.
Took a few travel bugs and placed along the way.

Before going to search for this cache we had a Boxing Day picnic lunch under the trees on the banks of the creek. Though the creek was dry, and the car's temperature gauge was reading 44 degrees, it was a very pleasant lunch spot. We headed to the cache site and took in the awesome views of the lake below. Cache found and log signed, we drove down onto lake for a closer look. Thanks for bringing us here team plats.

Took the trek out to flat battery on Diaboli-Kal's recommendation and we were not disappointed. What a great spot!! Great views and a bit of history to explore in the old battery. So we extended our stay and spent a bit longer here opening a bottle of champers and having a picnic on the bank under the shade of a tree. Great place we will be adding a favorite point to this one.

Geohubby and I loved our day caching and 4x4'ing around Bulong. Very surprised to see near GZ the amenities that have been left by previous visitors Surprised

We parked at the campsite and walked to GZ. How amazing those views are to the salt lake. Not much water in it at the moment though. The stamp battery was very interesting too. A great spot.

Many thanks team plats for showing us this great place. A favourite point from us. [^]

10-Aug-13
The drive out to this was almost as interesting as the cache location. We loved the set-up campsite with the lounge chair and BBQ. Nicely done Wink
When we finally got to the old battery site, we initially thought that the local kids had been building cubbies here. That was until I looked at the construction closer. It had a very definite ‘military’ look about the way it was made. We then turned our attention to the constructions at the top. The corrugated iron revetments were a dead give away and after noticing all the wrecked car bodies out on the lake, I came to the conclusion it was some CMF unit (I don't know of any regular Army units that were ever in the area) that had built an anti-armour range here, with firing bays and command posts. They could have taken their concertina wire home with them though Twisted.
…. There was also a cache – which we found [^]. TN but left a TFTC card. Cheers and thanks for highlighting this place.

Great location and nice view over the lake.
Seek permission from the station owners, house with the wagon wheels

Big Grin Found it. Interesting place and enjoyed a wander around.

It is amazing how the people designed their environment to cope with the conditions. Think walls, underground bunkers and in the side of the hill to provide the height needed.
