Team G0LD (Geocachers: 0B80B8, Lis's crew and DaffyNZ) were on a mission today. We found all of the caches in Te Rau Puriri Regional Park and got our final mountain souvenirs all done and dusted. Now we wanted to spend the rest of our day filling in as much of this area with yellow smiles as we could.
Overall it was a very hot day with temps of 28-30°C. The time between caches this afternoon in the car was very refreshing with the air con set at 20°C. I found 49 caches and got lots of smiles on my map.
Our detour out to Shelly Beach was a bit disappointing with 3 dnfs out here. We all hunted but we just couldn't find it. Might need a check up.

We stopped her for lunch then had a really good look around. Considering the size of the container we do not think it is here any more
Pretty sure we checked everything that matched the hint, but didn't find the cache here.
After a couple of hours destroying moth plant with a gang of volunteers from North Shore/Papakura/Whangaparaoa (yes, no locals apart from one who put out cones so we wouldn't get run over), it would have been rude not to collect a cache whilst here.
Easy find once we found the right ponga.

A lovely sunny Winters day at Shelley Beach and the car park was overflowing with cars and boat trailers. Once at gz, it wasn’t long before we had this decent sized cache in hand.
I am sooo glad this geocache brought us here. Apart from the arrogant attitude of some fisherman in their 4WDs the place had a wonderful vibe. We loved it so much, we came back for a great feed of fish and chips! Nice sized dry cache!
Pazza asked me if I wanted to go on a road trip with them so I jumped at the chance. It was a beautiful day to be here, the water was like glass and we were early enough to beat the crowds. Cache was found in the first place we checked
Beautiful day with some stealth required as lots of muggles about!! Nice hidey spot, lots of room in the container! Tftc
Nice cosy spot to drop a trackable that is keen to tour. I'm sure it will enjoy the view after being in the same spot in Wellington for nearly a year. TFTC I can see a number of past geocacher trails as we are prone to our searching
First stop of the day and I was prepared with a fresh sheet of paper and a new zip-lck bag too. After adding my name to the log I also added in a nice US 'coin' to the container. Great place to find here, will be back again I am sure.
Last day of the weekends aims and a trip out to South Head was on the agenda, and a welcome option too. We were off at a decent time and welcomed the quieter roads after the busy-ness out at Bethells and Wainamu yesterday, A nice drive out with plenty of great views and noted a few cache placement options for next time we head out too. A bonus side-track lake at Ototoa/Rototoa was another of those wouldn't have known if not for Geocaching moments, nice.
It's been a pretty uninspiring week at work this week so I was hankering for a weekend of stimulation. So I took Friday off as annual leave and had a hope for 3 days of exploring and getting out (and a few caches thrown in for good measure).
Great day with awesome weather, which was the theme for the weekend and had a great time.

Use the easy track by going to the correct stump. Please bring more log paper, we just used the last space. Tftc.
# 1875 Up this way with a camper van for a tour of Northland. Stayed in the nearby designated camper spot and wandered down to find this one. Wasnt at the first hint item searched but soon found the decent sized container. Bit worse for wear inside so gave a good huck out and cleaned seals. Log is almost full. Cheers Tufty. Was happy to see a cache nearby!
Having just driven to 'The Lakeside Wonder' Cache I did a small detour to Shelly Beach. This certainly is a nice area to spend some time. Unfortunately I didn't have tie to stop today so will have to return. I initially went to the wrong hint item but then found the cache at the second one TFTC!
We had a very nice holiday in New Zealand. Almost every day beautiful weather. We traveled with the camper home from the north to the south island. we have found a lot of very nice caches. Thanks for showing the nice places where we found the caches.

Late logging this one. Didnt have a pen that day so will try upload my photo of the log. TFTC
Great find! After searching a few stumps we got it forgot a pen to sign but included photo of log.
In Auckland for work for a couple of days but with spare time today. I headed north and west to places I haven't been to for years, if ever. The weather was very unpredictable, generally blustery with showers getting blown in the wind too. I managed to stay fairly dry given the conditions. One of those places I'd never have visited if it wasn't for the lure of the cache. Nice one! No problems finding the cache. Only downside was visiting on a Monday in winter and the cafe was closed. TFTC, Biggles.

I was able to spend several hours out and about tracking down hides today. Not to forget the matter of enjoying a drive in rural west Auckland. While the day started off with clouds and a bit of drizzle it is starting to heat up now. Anyway, I parked up in the car park near the playground, in a shaded spot and contemplated access to GZ. The reason contemplation was in order as there are earthworks happening the length of the beach, basically. However, public access is still available to beach and GZ can be reached without entering the construction zones. Once at GZ I found the hide in the second spot I checked. Right, think I will check out the cafe, for a drink, and the wharf, for the view. Cheers for the cache placement!
Thanks for bringing me here! Started at wrong level. Then moved to mentioned place. TFTC
Out for a ferry trip on a beautiful day. Had a short walk after having lunch at the cafe. A quick, easy find. TFTC.
Out for a cruise today on Kaipara Habour tour and picked this up after some lunch with Anastriel and Lycurgon, TFTC
Saw a voucher deal for a ferry trip from Helensville to Shelly Beach, and thought it would be a lovely day out, and was glad to see a cache here. Quick find, on a beautiful day. Thanks for the cache.
Bit worried about the state of the foreshore and the possible problem for your cache but all was well. The beach looked sad but the highlight was a very early pohutukawa in glorious deep crimson flower.
Found. Nice drive with kids the get south head caches. Great day. Took tb and left tb. Tftc
We wanted to find 3 caches today to add to our tally on this date, but one of us has work. There happen to be 3 caches that we haven't found up towards South Kaipara Head, so the other went for a drive.
There are a lot of earthworks going on between the carpark and GZ, but luckily there is still a narrow pedestrian access available. Made my way there and soon spotted where the cache would be. Thanks.

I didn't know where the hint ended, so I checked the first one I came to before I got the right one. TFTC.
Nice dry cache. Great discover a decent sized cache. Thanks for the visit to this delightful beach even it's rather cold and windy this evening.

Our first time in the area, mainly to find the most western cache in the auckland region for the NSEW Auckland challenge, and we were pleasantly surprised by the beach here. Gorgeous murals on the building walls nearby. We made a quick find here and watched a dredger barge coming through the harbour as we walked back to the car to continue our journey. Found with darthcacher1 and purply.
On a caching mission out west with Keylev today. We parked up and walked the short distance to GZ, started searching the hint items but whilst trying to find a better approach through some puddles I got totally freaked out by the size of some spider webs and then turned to see the rather large owner of the webs sitting right in front of me on a tree branch, well!!! I can usually contain my slight arachnophobic tendancies, but not today!
A rather concerned Keylev wanted to know what all the squealing and hyperventilating was about. A nearby muggle was also having a quiet snigger to himself!!! after I composed myself we realised we had the wrong hint item after all and soon made the find some distance away from my new found 8 legged friend. Needless to say I was rather more wary of bush bashing after that. Thanks for the cache and the adrenalin rush!!

Mrs NZT and I set out north on a day trip to grab a few caches in peace. After a slightly delayed start due to a quick trip to the doctor after laval fell off a bouncy castle and hit his head very hard we were free to go and had a great day.
There was quite a bit of water around the first structure we approached so Mrs NZT decided to try and find a way around to it without getting wet. Unfortunately she encountered an extremely large spider which was not part of the plan and I'm sorry to say I did have a bit of a laugh at her predicament. There was a muggle nearby who moved on after watching us dealing with the spider issue.
Anyway back to the cache I started at the next structure but it was found shortly after at the next one along. Nice quick find when you look in the right spot!
Thanks for the cache.

On our way home and decided to stop in here for a look as neither of us have ever been here. Being the holiday weekend the carpark was pretty full with boat trailers and many caravans and motorhomes enjoying a break from the city. Judging by the chatter it looks like lots of folks come here very regularly.
We walked down to GZ and discovered that Mrs Tuolei is better at following the hint than I am and found the cache, nice and quickly. We found a TB so we picked that one up to move along again. Thanks for the cache, all is well here.

Doing a spot of caching with team mates urbangypsynz and supernanny today, one other team member has gone home already, Jard1037. Supernanny has found this, so just us 2 me and urban needed to sign in. Wonderful beach here alright! So since it's about lunch time I guess me must dine... at the nice cafe they have here, that'll do me! Potatoe wedges with sour cream and bacon and a nice cold beer and some nice chatty company. Thanks Tufty!
Carrying on collecting the South Head caches with Supernannny and Gorby, I was a bit suprised how quiet it was up there on such a scorching day. The good condition cache was quickly found. I had forgotten what a lovely spot this is. Once the log was signed we headed off to find the cafe. TB dropped.
Came here this morning on my quest to clean out South Head and it was a pleasant walk down here and a quick find. TFTC
Stew Sleuth and I had just finished a nice horseback ride and had a nice lunch. To round out the day we took BeeBee on another GC hunt to introduce her to the fun. When we found the cache it contained two logs...a nice new one and a paper mache one in a broken ziplock bag. We got rid of the old one and left a flight attendant wing inside. TFTC
For all the many times I've stayed up at my friends' farm, I'd never actually been to Shelly Beach, which is quite close to their home. Very nice spot, and a nice warm and sunny day for really anything, but geocaching in particular.
The box was quite wet, but we cleaned it out, and left a few small treasures from San Diego, CA. The prior log was soaking and the bag was ripped, leaving rain water all over- hope you don't mind that we disposed of it. Thanks for bringing us to such a nice location-

Nice easy find while in the area !
Had some replacement paper on me but someone had already replaced it last month.

We are in New-Zealand on our holiday for 6 weeks from The Netherlands. We love your country. Here on Shelly beach we found the cache. In the box there was 2 cm water. Every thing was wet. We put a new zipperbag and a new paper in it. Thank you for show us this nice beach.
It would be great if the next cacher to visit placed a new log book/sheet as I won't be able to visit until next month. Thanks in anticipation.
Found it after quite long search on the false places. Altought it was really easy. But you have to find out which stump it is. Tftc
I had the geokids home from there weekly learning institutions. So I thought I would go for a drive and ended up here. Great spot nice and quiet and a playground.
#136 busy little spot, most people making the most of the good weather before winter kicks in! As for the cash, nice easy find, log was very wet however there were some dry pages in the middle, no surprise with the weather we've had in the last two weeks. First time out to Shelly Beach and it was the cache that brought me here, well worth the trip! TFTC
A quick find after wandering along the beach. Lots of people making the most of the beautiful weather.
I've wanted to head up the South head of the Kaipara harbour for a while now, so made the plan to head up and find the caches while I was up this way visiting family. Having spent a fair amount of time fishing on the Kaipara harbour when I was younger I had viewed the South head from afar but never explored it. The old man tagged along for the trip also.
This was a place I really wanted to visit as I had heard about it many times when I was younger, and it turned out to be a pretty neat spot. I tired to park the car as close to the cache as possible, but however we seemed to of missed the signs apparently as a local quickly shoo'd us from our chosen car park as it was meant for campers. Once on the other side of the gate, and the car parked, we took the stoll to GZ. The cache was found without anymore hassle, thanks for bringing me here.

Gorgeous day. Never been to this beach before! Here with our classic car club for our Xmas function. Quick find. Concealed a bit better than the way we found it. Log book a bit damp. TFTC
Found with my Pokémon playing friend while in the area. I went to the wrong tree first then found it at the next one. Tftc
Good weekend relaxing out at Shelly Beach. Found this cache while taking a stroll on a stormy Sunday. Tftc!
We headed up to Shelly Beach today with my parents and very good family friends to take a look at a section of land. We haven't been up here for at least 10 years so it was nice to come back and take a look around.
After viewing the section, we headed down to the cafe for some lunch. Once we were finished, we all took the short walk along the foreshore to GZ. A few campers parked up as we walked on past. At GZ, we quickly spotted the hint item and not long after, the cache was in hand. We showed our friends what geocaching was all about and they seemed quite interested. Nice to see a good sized cache here, TFTC!

Travelling in style on the 'Kewpie Two' we disembarked at Shelly Beach to savour the exotic delights of this vibrant community. Having a little time on our hands we ventured forth to the far end of the beach and by chance discovered a large container with sundry trinkets and a faded parchment with curious notations. Seemingly it is the custom to enter one's own comment, to which end we made some mundane entry duly signed and dated.
#257 Was on a rare visit out this way to have a meeting with a client. Spent a little extra time during picking up some caches that are usually out of normal reach. Nice little walk along beach and quickly found cache. Sat in sun at a nearby table while I entered log. Traded some neat little swaps.
