We were expecting a different kind of hide. Soon found the cheeky little blighter. Thanks The Traveling Smiths.
We are on a short (three day) caching holiday in North Western Sydney, staying for two nights in a park cabin at the Ingenia Holidays Avina BIG4 Holiday Park at Vineyard. Hoping to collect some previously solved Mystery/Puzzle caches, complete some Adventure Labs, and accumulate enough cache finds for the current "Wheel of Challenges" (hard) souvenir and the "Celebrating the Solstice" souvenir. Photos will be uploaded to some logs on our return to home base.
Today (day 1) we travelled out to Vineyard, going via Galston Gorge with a stop-off at Fagan Park, then followed Annangrove Road out to Windsor Road and to the accommodation. This was the 12th of 14 finds for the day (day 1), and 12th find of the holiday.
The GPSr wanted us in the middle of the road, so that left us with two possible targets. Checked one of them, but nothing found there. Ducked over the road to the other one, and bingo, CIH. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found.
Seen quite a few of these over the years, but this one is well placed and could even be seen as being functional. TFTC The Traveling Smiths.

Oof, nearly gave up but then got there in the end. Didn’t get any mountain views but had a nice night ride out here thank you
Wow that took a long time to spot. I was thinking something completely different as I kept walking back and forth between both sides of the road. Spent about 40 minutes all up here. TFTC
Took about 10 minutes to find this one as the needle jumped all over the place. I looked in the likely spot, but had to extend my search, then bingo. Thanks for the cache.
Day 2 of post-Christmas caching with aubeasty and we still had a bunch to find before we reached our goals. Rain, wind and humidity could not stop us and the mix of ALs and trads in the area got us over the line before the end of 2020, phew!
So many wires here going all places. Some views, but probably better a little further up the hill. Good container for the site.

If it’s not one pole, it’s the other! Loved that my eye spotted the geocaching symbol well before registering exactly what sort of cache I was looking at

An afternoon in the Riverstone area for the new AL and of course supplemented with a few extra caches.
After not being able to find a solved puzzle nearby, I drove into this dead-end street for a mountain view. I was not disappointed and I was rewarded with glorious views. I wondered how long it would take for the area to be ruined by more development.
Using geo-sense the cache was quickly found.

Last cache for the morning which turned out to be most of the day.
I came past Vineyard Station and heard the announcement for the train going to Richmond then headed along Bandon Road towards the cache.
Wow, what a great view of the Blue Mountains from this spot!
I had planned to do this cache by train with a nice walk out into 'the country' but due to viruses I'm too scared to use public transport these days so added it to my caching trek out in the Ponds area today.
Parked near a locked gate and walked over to where the GPS pointed. For me the co-ordinates were quite good and the cache was a quick find. Nicely used camo!
Signed the log then drove back towards the level crossing just getting across before the bells and the barrier. Stopped and took a photo of a spot which probably will be outdated one day.

TFTCM, my GPSr had me dancing around for the GZ. Had to trust my instinct to finally find this one.
I succumbed to temptation today after 6 weeks of restraint! We were visiting my cuddle muggle's best friend and at one point while they chit chatted away, I ducked out to buy some stuff I needed at Bunnings ... and then took the long way back to her house, for no reason other than to allow me to find a few caches. I must say that it felt really good to be able to pursue my favourite outdoor pastime again after such a long break ... and the irony of it all is that I never got closer than 100m to another person while I did so.
This took a little while to find, partly because I had to wait for a muggle electricity worker, who was coming out the nearby gate, to leave and partly because the coords are a fair bit out. Like others before me, I had to end up searching both sides of the road but eventually, I spotted a tell tale sign of a hide. TFTC Travelling Smiths.

Found after not caching for ages, then they made it so we couldn’t cache at all. We initially went to the wrong side of the road here.
Found after a short search. Someone has lost a cane basket here. TFTC The Traveling Smiths.

Just picking out a few caches to make sure the current streak keeps happening. This cache was more tricky to find, but a careful look spotted the prize. Name signed, all good. TFTC.
Co ords had me 8 metres away. But spreading out I soon spotted something odd.

Found with sesblocker.
Inaccurate coordinates made for a tougher find. We also started on wrong side and thought we should 9ja widen the search area.
We give this a favourite point.
We are staying in Richmond for a couple of days and decided to collect a few smilies.

Cache #1800
After crawling along after a small bunch of cows finally arrived at GZ. My GPS wanted me to go to one side but after looking for way too long I checked out some past logs. Ok i will check the other side... still nothing. Checked logs way back further and found something... back to look again and found it!!! Signed log and returned as found. That was one sneaky cache!

Followed a truck down here who turned out to be lost and had to find his bearings before turning and heading out again, leaving us time and space to search. Neat hide, same same but different. Great view - tftc!
Spent way too much time looking around the wrong one... finally found it in the end. TFTC

I'm working in the area for a few weeks and looking forward to collecting lots of caches in this region.
While searching for this and the past two caches a police helicopter has bee scouting the area, hopefully I'm not looking to suspicious to him going from place to place looking for things.
Seem I picked the wrong pole to start searching, but once I got the right one the hide became apparent.
1 DNF
2nd of 14 finds today.
Cache/Log: Both in good condition.

GPS was not doing us any favours today with this one. Nonetheless geo sense kicked in and we came up with the goods
GPS had me jumping abit but 9nce on correct side, something caught me eye. Yes there it is. Log signed
Geo-gangstas getting sloppy - he missed the tell tale symbol here! GPS out though and we had to check the other to find it. Good hide that's unlikely to be easily muggled. TFTC - our last of the day.
I missed this one completely! AWTYOW only needed to glance at it to say that is it. I'll open my eyes a bit better next time! TFTC

Number 17 for the day. Interesting place. I wish people would not dump rubbish. It was a good cache and a nice fit. TFTC.
#612 - Garmin eTrex 30
I am catching up on old logs. This was the only find for the day. I drove down to GZ and was a little wary of the signs about surveillance and enclosed lands but luckily no-one was around. It sure is serene around here. I headed in the direction of one likely spot and circled it. Unfortunately, nothing revealed itself. I noticed a potential geotrail to another spot but that was empty. I then read some past logs which gave me an idea that I was on the correct path but on the wrong side. I crossed over and was relieved to see the geocaching logo on the cache. SL. I then returned to the car, only to realise I dropped my pen in the long grass. I returned and luckily, managed to retrieve the pen. TFTC.

#2319 (8 of 15 today)
Decided to head back up Windsor Road today, and then stopped once I'd got to Riverstone. Plenty of possible finds up this way, and I did indeed hit the jackpot with 15 finds (plenty of Blundo Busters' Train Spotter series actually found), 1 DNF and an "OOPS, I'll call that a DNF too".
Back home via Annangrove Road for a few more finds before heading for home well before dusk.
END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION
Well, I was looking for the right think early on (one of a few possibilities) but was in the wrong spot. Good thing too as what I thought was GZ was hiding a blue tongue in a spot ('d normally put my fingers to check. Checked a few other possibilities nearby but still nothing.
Eventually got to the right GZ and there it was staring at me.
Completed signing duties and replaced.

Out with JJCC on a morning cache run. GPS had us in the middle of the road, so check first probable location with no results, a check on the opposite side of the road around the additional candidate and we soon had our find of a familiar looking cache container. Signed log and replaced - TFTC The Traveling Smiths
Caching with Team Merlin a bit of a look for this one then finally having CIH. Great camo and hide have seen this cache style else where this would certainly catch a few. SL and replaced as found. Great cache name. TFTC
Accompanied with Sevabo... she take me drive to winsdor few caches... Beautiful warm today... Hide well .. Thank
Found on an epic caching expedition to uncover Trainspotter and other nearby caches starting at Schofields and ending up near Bligh Park / Windsor Downs. Quite a nice view of the mountains, all was quiet out here this morning and like previous finders, the coordinates placed me in the middle of the road (perhaps a result of the electromagnetic disturbances?) and I spent a bit of time searching on both sides before finding the cache and carefully retrieving it despite protection offered by several nearby prickly plants! SL TFTC Traveling Smiths!
Found it on a sunny spring day while in the area. I also looked on the wrong side of the road first but didn't take long when I crossed over. TFTC
after a wet morning came out for a little caching when the sun came out. Parked nearby and was rewarded with a find. The type used I haven't seen before but there was a tell tale sign on it. tftc
I could feel the power. Had to check both sides of the road before claiming a find.
I was in the area picking up a multi and a couple of Train Spotter caches and decided to give this one a go too. Fortuitously, I chose the correct side of the road, saw something familiar and had CIH.
Nice one, thanks The Traveling Smiths.

The coordinates are quite a bit off for this one, and for that reason it took longer to find than it should have. But after bouncing back and forth across the road a few times, and then reading a log that mentioned the symbol, it clicked. TFTC
Enjoyed this, other than the mountain view, had 6 kangaroos hop across the road and through the field in front of me. And that right in the middle of the day. Loved the old shed and bus too. And yeah the cache as well. Log full. TFTC.
Didn't take very too to find this but hidden nicely. Great views west close to sunset. Quite lovely. TFTC.
Over from NZ on a little geocaching holiday.
Enjoyed touring around this area and finding caches along the way.
Soon had it located. SL TFTC

Was on the wrong side of the road at first. Found quickly once on right side. Great cache container - fantastic camo. Lots of spiders, beetles and disturbed an ant nest. TFTC!!
Nice quick find today as part of our 'get to 300 today, day. TFTC. Gps was sending us to other side of the road but geohubby had read logs so made the find. Nice container!!!! This was number 299 for us - one more......
Like others, flipped the coin and ventured to the wrong side first. Saw the telltale GC sign and had CIH. SL TFTC
For me the co ords were on the wrong side of road but thank you for the cache it's a pity people have to dump stuff near by
Our last Day in Richmond time to finish a few we missed earlier. Today we are going to concentrate more on the train spotter series.
Started off quite confidently & the finds came quiet easily.
We also started out on the wrong side of the road. Too hazy to get a goo view of the mountains
Thanks The Travelling Smiths

Last for the day after a couple nearby. I'd had this in the GPSr for some time as lately I've only used the phone with the Garmin as a back up. It was fun to use the two devices side by side and have them both point to the one object. Both were wrong as I headed to the other side of the road. Well either they were wrong or the coords are off enough to make the difference. Anyway on the other side I soon spotted a familiar symbol and then had to go back to the car to get a tool. That done I signed and replaced, not as tightly as before but also not as obvious (but in exactly the same spot).
Thanks!
Thanks!

After another successful day on the WRPT and completing our daily logs at around 11pm (NSW time, only 10pm QLD time ), I realised that we only needed another 3 finds to make a nice round find-count of 30 for the day, so I headed out for a spot of night-caching close to "home".
I'm another of those people who had the GPSr pointing to the middle of the road. After searching the closer of the two objects, to no avail, I read a few previous logs and noted the point that I should be able to see the mountain view from the cache's hiding spot, so I switched sides of the road. I also noticed the previous log that mentioned needing a tool to get the cache free from its hiding spot. After a short search, I spotted the tell-tale Geocaching symbol and retrieved the cache. Luckily there wasn't any need for a tool in my case, because I don't think I had one in the car anyway.
Thanks for the cache The Traveling Smiths.

We spent the morning doing some of the WRPT series while the weather was a bit cooler but then decided to find some caches where we could retreat to the car more easily and enjoy the airconditioning. This was one that was close to the location we were caching in so were happy to make a find.
Nice work with the cache thanks to The Traveling Smiths.

I took a break from trainspotter caches to detour down the road to this one. I was backtracking a bit to get to this one, should have studied my map more carefully when planning my route I guess.
I'd read a few earlier logs for this one, saying that GPSs were pointing the searchers to the wrong side of the road. So when my GPS clearly pointed to one side, I wondered if I should just go straight to the other side first. Luckily I didn't, because the coords were spot on for me & I found the container in the first spot I looked .
Thanks, nice mountain views from here
