Sadly I have to archive this one, as I no longer visit this area as I used to. Was hoping the original container - a ammo box re-appeared, but looks like it is long gone.
Hope a local cacher can put a cache in this interesting area.

After dropping off the GeoMuggle at the airport for a flight back to Adelaide, I spent the afternoon clearing all the caches south of the Gap. TFTC.
Great view from up here. As with previous finders a new container is required.

Not much more than half a plastic bottle with a receipt in it now apparently... Nice spot though
Found, but not sure it was the original cache. As the previous finder said. Tftc

Looks like someone got to it recently and scattered it all about. I found a plastic bottle with a hole in it & a receipt to write your name on. The pencil was a few meters away.
I put it all back together and reconstructed the stones.

After climbing up the hill we searched all over the place eventually finding remnants of the cache we decided to put one together and place it back in the hiding place.
Found at 4:45 PM GAFF?.
We took some time to find the access to this area and then were surprised to see so many muggles about. Even a land yacht racing along the dried swamp! We then weren't prepared for the steep climb, but Ian scampered up there before we had a chance to take a breath [B)] Then the fun began and we just couldn't locate the cache in any of the "cairns" that were around GZ. We eventually found a green Keno pencil and thought that it must have been part of the original cache, so we "constructed" one around that. Signed a bit of paper and re-hid the cache in the cairn at GZ.
Thanks JWstorming.

Unfortunately despite the nice climb and awesome views, this one remains hidden. Geokids were getting too hot and after about half an hour looking in all the obvious places and turnign up nothing we decided to call it quits on this one. Found the original GZ though.....
TFTC TNLN Cache was out in the open - I put it back in its spot. All seems ok. Beautiful views - nice spot!
I detoured from Larapinta Drive on me way into towne today and ended up driving through the Ilparpa Swamp Protected area.
I thought I was driving through a war zone [:o]
Burnt out cars litter the salt pans, and there are tracks running everywhere through the scrub !!!
Protected Area ??
Protected by what or whom ??
I followed the maze of tracks to reach the base of the climb up the hill.
That looks better
A nice bit a scrub here.
A quick run to the top and the views were damn good
Away from the salt pans, the Ilparpa Swamp still boasts some large areas with few tracks running through it.
The surrounding hills look great too !!
And I could see the pooh farm ponds closer to towne

Travelling around Australia, and we are now camped at the showgrounds in Alice Springs.
Enjoyed the climb and the view as the swamps had water in them from recent rain.
Cache was found quickly, and in good condition.
Many thanks for placing this cache, JWstorming, for us and others to find.

On a mission to collect all the Alice Caches, find no: 3 for the day. Today my caching adventure took me to the caches I have been looking at for awhile, planned on doing them but just don't.
Jess (the Geo-hound) and I headed out early a did the walk about halfway up Quarrying the past, then headed to this one. Great hike up, and the view - spectacular. We did not enjoy the decent very much, after all the rain it has made this very slippery indeed. We made it in one piece and I didn't fall on my butt, which was a surprise in itself.
So excited to find an Ammo can, yay! been wanting to find one of these.
Cache is in good condition
Left a Animal keyring & signed log.
Took a bird toy.

Beautiful climb up to the cache on an overcast afternoon. Took my five-year old who found the climb difficult but got to the cache himself (to his great satisfaction).
Took a River's (clothing) metal tag, left Lackey GC.
Beautiful views, would be even better after one of our infrequent rainy periods.

If not for geocaching we would never have known about this lovely secluded 'hill'. And what a climb it was, especially difficult for Mrs M who badly twisted her ankle the other day. Put on a brace and persisted though and it was worth it for the magnificent views at the summit. We could imagine all of the birds and animals visiting this swamp in the wet and expect it was a good hunting place for the indigenous people. The log book is there but it was falling apart so we replaced it with a sturdier one and left all the old logs that had fallen out with it. Impressed with the site, and sights, and the container so left a book by the Dalai Lama and a kid's game. Great to find a big enough container to actually leave some decent swaps in for once. Took a small red jewel. Decided to take a different route down with more rocks for foot and hand holds but it took just as long. Less stress on the old ankle, though. Took a painkiller (well, two actually ) with a cuppa and all was well. Logging our find at the base of the hill...can't believe we have internet here. Thoroughly enjoyed this cache, giving it a fave. Quick find this morning while out and about in the area. Got speared by a spinifex into the little toe and smashed an ankle on some great big rock that took a disliking to me. Oh well... such is life.
Also ran into two ladies who were taking their dog for a walk and were having cups of tea on the summit. How very civilised!!

This one has no log book, I didn't have one on me otherwise I would have left one
Taken a travel bug G8Z4ZM

Decided to do a bit of caching while in the area. Cool cache. Excellent view. Thanks JWstorming I enjoyed this one.
This was our 3rd cache in our caching run today - and we found it at around 10:59.
(So this is our 4542nd total find.)
Phew, what a climb. And then what a spectacular view.
This must be the largest "small" cache we have found.
Took: Nothing
Left: Balancing Eagle
Rescued the TB
Thanks JWstorming for the hunt today.

The sight of an ammo can is very refreshing in Alice Springs. Other sights at this location included far-reaching views and a lazy husband who didn't want to climb the whole way up here. Tftc
Found on the Anja & Setsujoku honeymoon tour!
After getting married on the 19th May it was time to head off for some rest and relaxation, or rather camping and lots of walking!
Find 56 of 74 on our tour of the Red centre outback.
An interesting drive out to the cache, following tracks, but what they are there for, who uses them, or even why you might come out here is a bit of a mystery!
Thanks to JWstorming for the cache and another chance to see the outback.

After caches huntings on western side of Alice... I drove to Ilparpa area by Nuvi and went into private property... checked on description for the waypoint...OOOPPS...put co-ordinates on Nuvi and went back to the waypoint...drove on track, surprised to see large dried up red swamp till to nearest GZ...started walking up the hill from the car park, 50 metres up...batteries in GPSr went flat, S..T! S..T! so went ahead on top of the hill and a great view of MacDonnell range...waited a while hopefully batteries still survive for a short period of time and then realised that I was 7 metres from GZ...quickiy searched around even in rocks or whatever...found the cache in white ashes with the evidence...CSI (cache Scene Investigation)took photos of the evidence with the remains of cache, found money coins, luckily no trackables and this place was burnt recently, could smell the smoke. We stayed at the caravan park when the thunderstorm came in yesterday arvo and it may have caused small fire in Ilparpa lookout. Thanks JWstorming for this great view.
Left early and headed out here on the bike before it got too warm. enjoyed the ride, and the different views out this way. Good scramble up the hill, then briefly fooled by the camo, but a second look confirmed my suspicions. Thanks JWstorming for showing me this location.
Rode past this one last night but was too late to find it (no lights and still had to ride into town)so rode back out again today this time rode along the base of the range, very rocky but not a bad track for a mountain bike.
A difficult ascent to get to the cache.
The view is spectacular as promised.
The cache was well camoflaged as indicated.

Great views. Climbed the other hill afterward for an even better panoramic view.
did a drive by of this yesterday with geodaughters in tow. It was too hot to climb the hill, so back at it this morning before 8am. With the sun in the east, there were some fantastic views west along the valley. Been to the clay pans a few times, however never been up this hill before. Thanks for taking me there.
