Visiting Acacia Bay with the Geo kids this afternoon. This was cool ??. My app didnt have the track quite right on the map. Luckily as we wound our way down the hill all was revealed. Mr C was right into visiting the cave while Missy B held back. We then stood at the entrance and read the hint. By the time Id finished Mr C was handing me the cache. Nice one.+FP TFTC
What a great spot! We really enjoyed the little side trip here, and found the cache no issues. TFTC!!
Awesome location. Great exploring to find it. Glad had my phone for torch light
I had cache blindness here. The others had already found this cache a few years ago so while they went off down the other track, I detoured here. I spent way to long searching the cave and struggled to find what could be the chimney so I gave up. On heading back I found the others had started down the track to find me so I u-turned and went back with them. They couldn’t remember exactly where the cache was so I showed where I’d looked and while doing that I saw something which could have been a chimney and lo and behold, there was the cache exactly where the hint said it would be.
School holidays so time for some travelling and caches. Unexpected trip to Taupo as we had to take a long detour as the road north of Gisborne was closed. Still a good opportunity to clear Acacia Bay of caches. Loved this cache. I checked out the back bedrooms before finding the chimney. Great hide. Happy to add to the favourite points.
wow! thanks for the cache from newbury park california usa. the chimney was awesome!
Still shaking, don't like insects so screamed once sighted wetas and will not return. That's a forever dnf for us
I enjoyed the walk to this spot only to discover there was a certain attribute that I had did not meet the qualification for. Never mind, I thought my GPS screen would provide some light. Once I sighted the chimney, I knew I couldn't be far away and I soon had my hands on the treasure.
This was an interesting little walk.
We weren't entirely sure what the chimney referred to, so spent a while checking the left side of the 'cave'.
Eventually mr rattll spotted the hide, and it all made sense after that.
What a great place to explore. Thanks for putting this cache here.

We are staying in Acacia Bay, so took the opportunity for a walk before the rain arrives. Of course there happened to be several caches along the way. A nice quick find, having explored a bit and admired the may spiders and wetas on the cave roof!

Amazing chimney!!
The kids and I explored it like Victorian sweeps!
spiders and even a cave weta!
The cache was quickly found.
The log was a little damp.

Found it. There was a guardian spider ️ near the cache so had to get my partner to grab it
Fabulous walk to the cache. Couldn't work out the chimney until on our way back, but then the cache was in our hands. TFTC
After missing another one on this trail, I hiked over to see about this cx. I was quite surprised by what I found. While I was exploring, a young fisherman came by. He was also intrigued by the cave, but didn't try to catch any fish there.
While we were talking about Geocaching, I was able to find the cx on the spot. Very nice camo. TFTC.

What an awesome location - this wasn’t what we expected to find but absolutely loved it. Th so you!
Found whilst in Taupo with ABCDF4, neat little wonder around the track, hint spot on. TFTC.
I had a few hours to fill in before I left Taupo; I aimed for the pleasant Acacia Bay and the Rangatira walking track. This was my first stop, approaching from the top. I didn't have any idea of the hide or the geography - so it's a good thing I didn't try to find it from the top! Found after a short search (from the bottom!) using the hint and some previous logs. TFTC.
The places caching takes me to! Loved this one. I had no idea at GZ but as my eyes adjusted i finally spotted it. TFTC
As the summer months come to an end, and with daylight savings ending for us real soon, it's time for an extended weekend trip to Rotorua (from Wellington). Lots of activities are on the agenda, and geocaching is one of them. I had several specific caches marked to find on this trip, some to meet specific requirements, some were such fun puzzle solves that I just had to come and sign the log, and are some just because. This cache is one of them.
A nice hide and camo, in a cool spot. All good here.
Thanks to Taupotiger for placing this cache here.

As I lumbered on my muggle other half calmly followed the hint and found the cache! All good at GZ. Gets a favorite from me.
What a hard find, it’s not as deep as you think. And a torch is definitely a must
Wow, great hide!! Definitely being a torch, we only had our phones and that was a bit weak but managed!
We have been walking this walk few times but never been inside the cave. So awesome. Good hint and very sneaky. Thank you
Had a look into all the gaps and holes, spotted some creepy spider or small wets. No glimpse of white paint, but a nice little spot. Team Mouse
Won’t lie… my phone light did not suffice! I was a bit creeped out on this hide. I live in the states and there would be snakes “all up in here” !!. Thx for getting me out on a cloudy day. No pen/pencil to sign log so took an area pic.
Spent ages checking all nooks & crannies-not even sure if we were in the right area!
The definition of chimney made things tricky here, until we spotted the chimney! Lots of wetas, big and small. Cache all safe and tucked away. TFTC!
Cool find, took a while to find as I wasn’t sure what the chimney was to start with. Once I found it it became obvious. So many little wetas in there. TFTC
I've hiked the Rangatira Track many times over the past 20 years but never was aware of this neat little cave. Would likely never have seen it if not for this cache. It was a rainy morning and the resident cave dwellers were out in abundance. Cache was found without serious problems but highly recommend use of a torch or light source of some kind. Great use of camouflage. Log book and pencil were in good condition and all was replaced exactly where found. Great hide. Thanks Tauoptiger!
Found the chimney, but not the hide after a pretty thourough search great place for a hide though
Had a good look around but this 1 has eluded me. Plenty of wetas though but all small and interesting! Pretty impressive area and will try again next time in Taupo area
Wow, not easy. Went till the end and back and around. TFTC ... the lid is fine and the best at this box. You must just put the cache box with bottom first back.
Soo many wetas, couldnt quite find the paint but found it anyway. It needs a new lid. Thanks
With Gap (of Fap and Gap), the nieces, and the dog... We didn’t visit a whole lot of caches today, but we did make some important finds...
In the greater scheme of things, this cache illustrates the benefit of experience... We visited this cache early on - When we were still very much caching greenhorns. We didn’t find the cache, and didn’t log our DNF. The cave spiders really freaked us out... Fast forward to today, and a few more years of caching experience. This time, we applied the hint and made an immediate find - A very clever hide too. As for the weta and cave spiders... Didn’t see any. If you don’t look, you don’t see! Thanks Taupotiger and TFTC.

Had an enjoyable walk along here this afternoon and found this cache. Think the directions in the hint are a little off so I didn't look in that area but my muggle hubbie did, fortunately. Great spot, TFTC
Find number 6737. Nice walk to GZ and interesting spot. I ventured in and out a few times before I finally spotted it. Pleased I signed and placed it back. Thank you for the placement.
#17- whilst out hiding a few caches myself thought I would detour and give this a go on the way back. I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive going to far in but the description and hint pit my mind at ease and helped a lot. Great hiding spot, nice area! TFTC.
In Taupo today with kids to do a bit of geocaching quick find here. Tftc
Kids loved this cache the expored for a while after we found cache. FP from them.

That was a surprise find. Scared a few creepy crawlies but no harm done I think.
There's 2 ways to get to this one, we opted for the longer but flat entry point at the first carpark.
Missed the turn at the big tree around halfway as a branch had fallen, hiding the track.
It was a quick find once we saw where we should go and spotted something a little out of place.
Took the shorter but hillier way back to the second carpark and R ran ahead to fetch the car .

Was welcomed by the locals on arrival but they were too shy to stick around for a photo. Clever hide. Tftc
Before we go back to the motel, we'll take a walk on this side of the lake. We will take the opportunity to soak our feet in the lake.
We do not imagine that there is that here!

Thanks Taupotiger for the geocache [^]

Found in spring rainy morning during trip across Australia and New Zealand. ´´Thank you for this traditional cache
We made our way to the point, and over to the area of the cache location. It took a wee while to detect the actual hiding place, and a torch was certainly helpful. The hint certainly helped although which side was somewhat unclear. A compass direction would have been preferable. The nicely camouflaged lid is no longer attached, but seems to stay on. A favourite from us. TFTC
Getting back into the full swing of geocaching and it's adventures. Look at my app this morning and thought that's where I'm going today. And it was well worth the visit. Cool location. Giving it a fav. Tftc

Well - cave and its inhabitants were not my friends today - I was not able to get to GZ - too many insects watching me... Maybe next time together with someone more courageous...
This one had me going quite some time got there in the end not as far is as expected

Came here without the muggle friends , they were busy sightseeing and a bit tired of the geocaching stops and detours
I guess two years ago I logged a dnf and that blue sad face on my map reminded me to go out there for another try
It was a lovely walk to gz, bearing in mind the hint I looked for that chimney, found it real quick and same with the cache
What can I say... so easy this time, devastated the first time - love that game
Merry Christmas with greets from Vienna/te Ngaere bay

Apart from Dr Zeuss's Chair (which seems to have gone missing), the other 4 caches out this side of the bay are among the best examples of what makes this game so enjoyable.
It took us a while to zero in on the hide but once in hand, the unequivocally clear description and hint made perfect sense. Worth a favourite point without a shadow of doubt.

Day Three of a 12 day, 3000 km road trip around the North Island with the primary objectives being the Taupo Ultra Marathon on the 13th and my first ever caching Mega event in Wellington on the weekend of 20th & 21st. With thousands of possibilities for caches to look for on the way, I had to be very selective and decided to concentrate on special types, solved puzzles, ones that would fill missing spots in my statistics grids and those with good numbers of favourite points, plus maybe a few extras that were close by those.
After completing my 26 km leg in the Ultra yesterday in some very cold winds, today was much nicer and ideal for some short recovery walks to pick up a few caches around the Taupo area.
After finding the one at the point, we walked back to this one. Whilst GZ was quite obvious, I struggled for a while with the find of the cleverly concealed cache as I hadn't worked out which was left and which was right. Once I finally sussed this out, the cache was right there as described in the hint. Lots of cave wetas about today, but by the time I got the camera sorted, most had retreated out of good photo range. TFTC

Nice cache, were a bit afraid of the bugs but got some courage and found it. Thanks
both hubby and I hadn't been over here before, with weather not that great what a better way to spend the day, thanks for the placement - this one prob took the longest none of us were keen to go far in and hubby was the only one that managed to really make it in enough to hunt for the cache, the wetas and spiders were out in force gets a fav from us
Awesome cache! I love places like this, the sort of thing I wouldn't have known existed if it wasn't for geocaching! Saw lots of small wetas. Not the same as the big ones I've seen back home in Gizzy. Tftc.
This one took much longer than it should have. Had no problem getting to GZ... and then we had a couple of little issues... I don't like enclosed spaces... and 'ltemaipi' doesn't like spiders or wetas. Meanwhile the wee grandbaby was happily asleep in her backpack. Spent a few minutes going in and out without much luck. Took the grandbaby off my back when ltemaipi made it clear she WASN'T going in the cave again... such a 12 year old thing to say! I decided to look back on the activity logs and realised that I hadn't actually looked for the chimney. Entered the cave again and looked for the chimney rather than the cache... found that and then within a few moments had the cache in hand. Thanks for an awesome hide!
You do not have to go to the end of the cave! Met a few wetas along the way once we turned on light on ph.
Great camo.
Great camo.
Well I went a lot further than was required. Pretty sure the boy took pleasure in my discomfort! TFTC was a good camo job had us stuck for a little while!
We looked in every nook and cranny even deep into the cave but no luck for us today.
Walked this track with grandsons from Tauranga. Loved the track and finding the cache was a bonus as a great hide. Boys loved the cave but beware of wetas. TFTC
