On way back to state highway 1... took this road for the geocache.Hidden valley feel to it.
Little detour here to collect this one after staying in Taupo overnight. Picked up on our way home. All good here with this cache
On our road trip back home, we collected a few selected/random caches. Not sure what the hint meant - we had an idea which was wrong - sone were looking slightly in the wrong place. Read a previous log which alerted to some damage. Found quickly after that. Thanks McCutchan Cache Clan
Having visited Orakei Korado we did this as we passed. The hint item seems to have had an accident, but we found what we were looking for.
First cache on holiday trip tho a cold rainy day. Still happy to have claimed one tho!! Tftc
A nice quick find said hi to Paul. Pencil in cache needs a sharpen so finders should bring own writing utensil or a sharpener. Nice drive through the forest to get here. Tftc
On the way back of the great Orakei Korako we stoppt and grabed.
TFTC!

On way back from Orakei Korako, quick park n grab, might need a new container soon. One of the 3 lid laches is broken. Left a swiftmantis sticker for next finder. TFTC.
Such a quiet spot. Great place to stretch our legs before arriving in Taupo TFTC
It's my Mega weekend road trip! This is day one, on the road to Auckland. Will expand on my logs, post photos, qualifying caches for challenges, etc. When I get home. TFTC
A short detour down this road to pick up this remote cache for a lonely cache challenge.

Picked up this smiley on the way in to Orakei Korako. Good spot - no reception so I didn't have the hint, but it wasn't hard to find. TFTC
We didn’t find Paul Buckley but we did find the cache.
Our trip starts again after being curtailed on day 2 when we went into lockdown (that was an 800+ km day to get back to our respective homes). The trip with LNM1961 (logs signed either with our own names or ‘LE’) continues. We are travelling around the Rua area of the PWGT to collect all of these caches, plus some in the Tahi area. However, we aren’t just focussing on them. We are targeting others - oldies, ones that help us qualify for challenges, ones out of the way (especially on the Desert Road), as well as having fun, exploring NZ and seeing the countryside. TFTC

Done this one years ago, let my siblings find it. Pretty visible so we covered it up a bit!
Thankfully the cache wasn't where the hint suggested it would be, but I feel that is a little disrespectful, but maybe you know him.
Quick find anyway.

Road was deserted until we parked, then it became almost a highway! Quick find once the traffic moved on, TFTC
Couldn't believe how busy the road suddenly was once we were looking for the cache.
I remember coming here back in 2012 but there was no cache here to be found. Avenged that today, no problems this time. The cache wasn’t quite where the hint had led me to believe it might be, and there is now no name legible on the cross. Cache is in excellent condition - signed log, TFTC.
Found on our way to Orakei Korako. Take a little longer than it should have. This was found as part of our North Island roadtrip. We forgot to log these in January and just found on our phone. Sorry for the late logging. TFTC
Found this one when I was going to Orakei Korako Thermal Reserve Park, was me and Line_Moh were going to stay there for the night, we had some time to find some caches on our way.

After a soak in the pools, it was time to drive home, but made the time to make a quick detour to find the cache. With rebel98 and gorby on a mini caching adventure
Once we had the right rock and the right side of the rock the cache was soon found. Thanks for the hide.

A fairly quick find. The hint was meaningless to us, and after a quick Google, we were still none the wiser, although further investigation later on suggested the unlabelled cross nearby was a memorial to him. TFTC
On our way to Orakei, it took us longer than it should have but if was found in the end. Tftc.
Today we're on our way to Orakei Korako; the must-see thermal area in New Zealand. When arriving at this crossing we found the cache shortly after finding Paul Buckley...
Easy find, no lead in pencil and can't find pen in car, took photo, delete if you rather I sign. Thanks, never been up this road before.

On our 31sttday in New Zealand we travelled from Turangi up to Rotorua. We enjoyed the drive along beautiful Lake Taupo even though the weather was not that great. But we were glad that after the heavy rain last night it was at least dry. We then had a longer break in Taupo where we were really surprised of the hustle and bustle there. And afterwards with visited the Huka Falls and then on to Rotorua. Along the route we stopped every now and then for some caches. Most of them we found well but there were again some DNF's.
We were first a bit puzzled at this location. Where GPS showed us 0m we only found some years old animal heads. So we looked on and soon found the box.

Unsere nächste Etappe ging von Turangi nach Rotorura. Wir kamen flott vorwärts, als Mittagshalt wählten wir Taupo.
Zuerst waren wir beim Falschen Stein. Beim zweiten wurden wir fündig. TFTC

trip up north to grab some caches, great weather and some great hides, thanks for the placement - couldnt see a name anywhere got got a fair idea of what I was looking for
Great location for the cache with no muggles around today. Not sure of the relevance to Paul Buckley but found the container where we expected it would be. Thanks CO for the cache
We were on the way back to Auckland after watching a friend compete in the Taupo Iron Man and decided to divert and look for this one. It is such a nice drive and location so we were pleased that we did.
There was no traffic in sight making it an easy find.
Thanks McCutchan Cache Clan for bringing us here.

I've done cache maintenance in Waiouru, stayed a night in Taupo, finished a hard challenge cache by Cats+Dragons, now I'm gradually heading back to Auckland, but a few more caches along the way would be nice. Now I'm here. Driving to GZ was unusual... it seemed like I was driving through fog but it more likely was steam coming of the road, it had been raining here obviously and the roads are wet, and the sun has come back out. It looked quite cool. Then I found the cache, all in good condition. Cheers for bringing me here MCCC. Later I was to find out that if I drove just a few more km's I could have seen Orakeikorako, a place I have never been to see!
Found this cache together with my family (Sibuk and Finn). For details see the log of Sibuk.
Thanks for the cache, Lupid

On a road trip from Hamilton to Taupo and grabbed a few caches along the way. One way to turn a 2 hour trip into a 4 hour trip this was a lovely peaceful spot to stop and take in the surroundings. A few trucks passed by which then disturbed the serenity. Looked in the wrong spot but made the find eventually. Thanks for the cache
Found when returning from Orakei Karako. Log wet and apparently missing recent logs. Tftc MattyH from Tassie
On our way to Orakei Korako we stopped to find this cache. A quick and easy find. Many thanks. SL. TFTC.
#5064. Had a short but enjoyable stay in Auckland. Now its time to head home to Wellington for Christmas. But first another mission. My DGSC bulk find challenge concludes on Boxing Day and by then I will be trying to find up to 200 caches to bring up 1500 qualifying finds this year. So have three full on days of geocaching before arriving home. I stayed overnight in Te Aroha so I could visit the old timer cache 101 today. Then heading south via the Napier-Taupo Rd and staying overnight in Hastings so I can have a big day out in southern Hawkes Bay/ Wairarapa on Friday. Parked on this deserted country road and headed over to the GZ. A quick circle around and I had the cache in hand within a minute. Signed and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache McCutchan Cache Clan. I remember I was going to do this one as part of the Rangitoto Island GIO licence challenge series (remote caches) but in the end didn't require it for that. So pleased to get it signed off today.
This cache was perfectly en route for a quick stop before ReCached and I got to our campground. Container was in perfect shape. TFTC McCutchan Cache Clan!

This was the first day of my driving trip down to Oamaru for Geofest 2017. I stopped every five to ten kms or so along the way to grab a cache. This expanded my driving time to a total of two weeks to get there and home again. I ended up going a total of 3,500 kms.
This was a nice secluded spot to grab a cache. TFTC.

A mission that has been a long time in the making. Today our goal was to collect 10 different cache types in a day. For Kiwis69 and myself this would have been fairly easy and a short day, but because we were tagging along with HKCB, this meant a few more kms and a wider caching area. We started the day at 3.30am and due to deciding to continue back to another event in Rotorua I got to bed at 5.30am the following day. Sleep is for the weak right?! A memorable day, spent in some great company and superb weather just to make the day even better. All up we did Hamilton - Auckland - Hamilton - Tauranga - Rotorua - Taupo - Hamilton - Rotorua - Hamilton. Travelling all those kms and still ended up in Hamilton
Second leg of the journey now, time to head to the Bay. Kayaks loaded, coffee fix had and now the sun was up it felt a lot more normal to be out and about.
After a couple of kayak caches HKCB was kind enough to stop to let Kiwis69 and myself grab this cache. Found quickly and back on the road.

Joined forces with HKCB & 11hpg11 to find 10 different cache types today. Because HKCB has already cleared out every cache vaguely near home, it soon became clear that the three of us fulfilling this challenge together would necessitate quite a bit of travel (~ 700km!) and a spot of kayaking ... gulp... and hence the plan saw us leave Hamilton at 3.30 am to head to Auckland, back to Hamilton for a CITO & to collect kayaks before heading to Tauranga, Rotorua & Lake Ohakuri, with the aim of being back in Hamilton by 6pm for our 10th cache type. Totally ridiculous but a whole lot of fun!
On our way back from lake ohakuri, tired & keen to get to the closest coffee pit stop but couldn't resist stopping here for 'just one more', TFTC

Had to head down to Taupo today and of course have to reward myself with a cache. This one wasn't too far off the main road. Fantastic to see a bit of sun. Poor Paul's memorial has seen better days, as have a few pigs as evident by the number of skins etc around the area. Thanks for the cache placement McCutchan Cache Clan.
Not sure who Paul is but I am guessing that the white dilapidated cross may be his memorial....the cache was soon found and signed....looks like a few wild pigs never quite made it as there are jaw bone, teeth and body parts laying around.tftc
2963 On my way home from Taupo after "having a go" as a swinger on a side car at the race track. You pay $10 and get 3 laps of the track on the motorbike of your choice. Veered off SH1 to collect this one. Cache quickly found and signed. Very little traffic today so was all peaceful at GZ. Plenty of parking near GZ. Did a u turn and did not head in to the forest. Thanks for the cache placement.
After completing the earth cache at Orakei Korako, we decided to forego the rather pricey walk through the thermal park and head back to Taupo for a swim. Stopped at this cache on the way and made a quick find. TFTC!
Whew. Still stinks after a month. Happy for the find anyway. I've replaced the container and put in a new log book.
Jeepers you guys bring me to some strange places. It being about 8pm, there were no one else around other than me and the dead possum. Nice quick recovery of the cache, and then I was on my way into Taupo. Last one of the night.
On our way home from the Bay, and we had a bit of extra time to make a few finds on the way.... This was off the main route but not by far so the small detour was acceptable ....

Heading to taupo for a couple of days and find it off there is only 1 cache on the road between rotorua and taupo. Had I known where it would be I probably would not have stopped, sorry but I don't think that's very respectful to that person and my apologies if you know them
a quick stop and find on another day of caching heading for the mega, tftc
So, we were heading down to the MEGA from Auckland, and had only tried for one other cache on our trip which unfortunately ended up as a DNF. We really wanted a cache for the day so had a wee detour off the main road to have a look here. We pulled up at a space near the cache and noticed a truck pulled off here too. As we stopped the clouds opened and the rain came down - pretty much our first for the trip. We waited for the truck to move on, or the rain to stop. Neither was cooperating. Finally the rain eased a bit so we pulled the car over closer to the cache. We got out and then the truck driver decided to move on, so we stood and paid our respects to Paul. The truck moved off and then another truck came, so we continued to pay our respects - and then a car - what a busy road just now. Finally the road was clear and we started our search. There was an item just behind Paul Buckley that seemed to fit with the title of the cache however our tentative moving of this object with a stick did not reveal a cache container. Then we followed the hint and finally made a find. Found with purply
On my way to the turangi mega - aiming for 50 caches today. This was find nr 17, nice quick find in a quiet spot. Tftc
A quick detour on our way to Hamilton for the night. Wasn't so keen on the dead animals here. TFTC
Travelling home.... A quick stop to stop the kids killing each other. Kids said this one was creepy!! Nice photo op though - Mama Drylie
Braved the rain to make a quick find here, only an occasional car going by today. TFTC!
Interesting spot for a cache...... (a hint for future cachers, don't look behind the big rock that stands out as a potential cache hide when you approach the intersection from SH1, the cache isn't there, just some rotting animal flesh, bleugh). Interesting to see how this spot moves quickly between moments of extreme tranquility and moments of trucking noisiness. Tftc
