Nice cache in a nice place. We camped here with the RV. Cleaned up the cache a bit - dumped out some sand. Took a benchmark geocoin and left a gorgeous gold-bar geocoin we got from the owner in Florida. Fav of the day! TFTC!
It is just really too bad when a business trip is planned in a place like Las Vegas and I have an opportunity to come early to do a little caching before the meeting. When I found out I was heading to the south west, I made arrangements to do just that. Come down early and hit the Route 66 power trail. I have wanted to do this trail for quite some time. Last year I was down in the area and managed to get the E. T. Highway cleaned up. Of course, I will need to plan a return trip to that trail at some point since they have added quite a few more caches since I got the 1500 that were there last year. For this trip, a good friend, Vulcan64, was able to get some time off and join me for a caching adventure. So we flew down on Tuesday from Sioux Falls and then we worked our way down to Barstow, grabbing a couple of caches along the way. We tried to focus our attention on virtual caches and earth caches for the first night, but there were some terrific targets of opportunity that we could not pass up. In the morning, we took a little walk to grab a nearby cache since breakfast was not ready to be served. Once we got a quick breakfast, we took off for the trail. Once again, there were a few nice targets for us to grab before we made our way down to cache 001. From there we hit the trail with gusto. We did get a couple of other nice caches along the way as well, but our goal was to get the Route 66 trail done in a day. We managed to get it done. What a great trail! We had a lot of fun and we managed to stay safe. Only a few cuts and bumps along the way. By the time we the moon was starting to rise, a beautiful full moon, by the way, we were still about a hundred short of completing the trail. The light of the fading sun was precious, but fleeting. We went as fast as we could, but we ended up finishing in the dark. Good thing we brought flash lights along with us. We signed the logs as VB for Vulcan64 and Beta59. Thanks for all of the great caches, on the trail as well as before, after and in between.
Beta 59 and I flew into Las Vegas on Tues. afternoon to start our adventure. We headed out to Barstow, Ca. as this would be our starting point to begin the Route 66 caching trail. Our goal we set for ourselves was to try to get all the trail done in one day. This was my first trip to the area. Certainly different than South Dakota. Warmer and drier. During this trip I was able to make some new records and add to some current ones. I appreciate all the work involved in making this trail. I enjoyed the whole day. Doing a trail like this with a good friend really makes it go so much better. We signed the logs as V B. TFTC
Quick find using the geosenses once I knew how far I needed to go and the general direction of GZ. Didn't even need the GPS outside the car. When the cache revealed a military man TB I had to pick it up considering we are on our way to Ft.Sill, OK to watch my daughter's graduation from Basic Training and then visit Ft.Leonard Wood, MO to see her off to AIT and visit family in the area. Great cache and plenty of room for more TB's. We left a couple in there for others to swap out.
Holiday power cache run! We came here exactly a year ago to start the series, today we finished! Thanks to all that placed and maintain this series. All quick grabs even when we got punchy near the end!
This is a great highway for caching, the weather was great and no traffic. Thank you for all the work in placing all these caches for us to find. All logs were signed as the CIA. Thanks for the break, nice spot. TFTC..

The CIA, a team of cachers from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, are having a great time on Route 66 and with the extra caches. Many thanks to Alan victor!
Found with the CIA team on the last day of our caching adventure. If anyone ever told me I'd get up at 3:00 in the morning to go caching, I would have said they were crazy, but that is exactly what I did this morning. It was worth it. This was my first time in California and caching Route 66 made it a trip I will never forget. Thanks to all for placing these caches.
Trekked to this one after an enjoyable hike out to the crater itself. Well stocked cache but TOLO. Signed the log, of course. Thanks for the cache.
Alaska's Team KLM is having fun and getting our Kicks and Kaches on Route 66! We enjoyed the warm weather, scenery, and history along the roadway! we enjoyed the break to stop and look for an ammo can and learn a little more about the area after we found this one! SL, TFTC, [red]Li1gray[/red]
Enjoyed the view of the crater, but the heat was too much to spend a lot of time here. Stopped by and picked up the only trackable in the cache to move along. Thanks for the fun!
Travelling Route 66 with micaparamedic and decided to visit this cache. Took TB. TFTC Alan victor

Yep well worth the short side trip to check out the area, and good to see what a bigger cache looks like after all these micros about hey.
Nice excuse for a break, thanks for the large container.
After many months waiting we are finally here, we where fortunately enough to meet the cache owners at an event, but even more fortunate to have mild weather.
We completed the series plus a few side caches in about two days and loved it

Signed our logs using team name: SAM : (Sol de Lune ,Albida and mtrax)

US12. This was a welcome diversion from the power trail. It was a bit different to have to walk a bit further. Thanks.

Nice break from the Rt 66 series, everyone got a chance to get out of the van to stretch out legs. Thanks for the cache!!
Lovely to see ammo box after a sea of film cannisters on the powertrail. Nicely covered in too by its wall of black rocks. Fascinating volcano but too hot to take the walk. A TB hotel with no TBs, so dropped of a coin which is on its way home from Australia. Thanks Alan victor.
We did take a break here on our second day of caching along Route 66 and traded tbs. We took 2 and left 2. Thanks for the diversion and a large cache to leave tbs.
A welcome diversion from the Route 66 Power Trail.
