#4333 Today is day 47 of my geocaching vacation in New Zealand. I flew to Nelson for the weekend to get the last three regions of South Island. Found it! Interesting one. This made me wonder how the CO found this hiding spot. FP given.magpiy, thank you for the cache! -crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan on November 16, 2024 @ 16:18:34[GC2NA8M] Number 4 (Nelson/Marlborough) was a D1.5/T1.5 Small Traditional Cache at the time of finding.
Day #5 Nelson to Greymouth - The Mega New Zealand ExperienceA chance for an overseas Mega was too good to pass up. Especially with half the state seeming to be attending also. I set about some last minute planning. Flights still available Accommodation found Mode of transport securedLooks like its time to cross the ditch. Ive never visited the South Island before so it is bound to be a fun filled trip. After a day of exploring Nelson and a home cooked dinner from Grub62 and Bunadoorian, it was off to Greymouth via a number of sights. After a reminder about this cache at dinner last night I made it my first find of the day. A clever and sneaky hide! A favourite is coming your way.A big thanks goes to magpiy for taking the time to add Number 4 (Nelson/Marlborough) to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Wow! The fun just never stops.Have you logged your will attend for Victoria's first ever Block Party? (Think Mega but even more special!)Join us on 22-23 March 2025 in Sunbury to celebrate 25 years of geocaching by logging your will attend at [**GCAP417**](https://coord.info/GCAP417).
bunadoorian and I were staying in the area for the night and had picked a couple of caches out to come and find. This was one of them. I loved the ingenuity of this cache. TFTC and for bringing us here magpiy.Another favourite point from me.
Grub62 and I are visiting your fair country and thought that we would drop by to find a cache or two. Well this cache was really well worth the trip. Grub62 was the finder really but I did enjoy the entertainment. Thanks for that and TFTC.
A plan was hatched between myself, the Seagnoid, YetiNZ and TwigNZ to convene in Nelson to attempt to get a first to find on puzzle we had solved at our recent puzzle evening. 'The boys' are flying from Wellington on Sunday, while I drove up from Christchurch on Saturday. Unfortunately I received the notification while driving through the Lewis Pass that the FTF had been claimed, but hey, a day caching in Nelson still sounds fab.Fantastic cache! Well done! FP for sure. Thanks for the cache.
A last minute Sunday jaunt to Nelson for the day was originally planned around a hopeful first to find of a recently published puzzle cache. Sadly, it was a gamble that did not pay off. However the four of us that made the the trip all had plenty of unfound geocaches in the area and so the day was spent driving around and collecting key geocaches for various needs and / or wants, or sometimes just because they were there and so were we. Special thanks go to That Darn Bear for being our personal shuttle service for the day, and putting up with the rest of us behaving like the backseat driving Geocaching children that we are.We were drawn to this cache by the large number of favourite points, and deservedly so as this was an excellent hide that took us a few minutes to figure out. All logs were signed with the team name of MYST, to represent myself (YetiNZ), the Seagnoid, That Darn Bear, and Twig NZ.---Thanks to magpiy for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.
Today I was spending my day in Nelson with YetiNZ, ThatDarnBear and the Seagnoid on a impromptu geo-trip. We had hoped to get the FTF on a solved puzzle but were beaten to it yesterday. But there are many other reasons for being here, not least of which is that it is such a wonderful part of our nation to visit and explore and I always enjoy coming here.As is usual for us in these circumstances, we attempted to come up with a team name for the day. Typically it's a play on caching initials, and occasionally we struggle due to a lack of vowels! But we had a Y, so we decided to be team MYST for the day even though we didn't have an M. I guess we just liked the name, but in any case MYST were Myself, YetiNZ, the Seagnoid and ThatDarnBear. We had now traveled as far from Nelson as we had intended to, and were now making our way back stopping at a few caches along the way such as this one. We had spotted the high number of FPs and were curious. It actually only took us a couple of minutes to make the find, but we were glad that we had stopped as we could immediately see why this cache had such a good rating. No issues to report regarding the cache or log, and we were soon back on the road to the next one Thanks for setting this cache up. Gets another FP to add to the haul
Visiting Nelson today, and out with a local cacher who is kindly driving me around. After I checked a couple of places, he kindly pointed to something I hadn't checked properly, and was amazed when this cunning cache was revealed. Very clever, certainly a FP, TFTC
This had us searching for a while. Looked initially, then discarded it. But then had a closer inspection of it. Such a great cache. Worth a favourite point. Tftc
Looked in obvious places & then returned to the first place I looked. I lifted it while buzzybb shone the torch because we thought there was some sort of monster in there. She got a stick to check it out & what we discovered was amazing. Fave point for the work that has gone into this.
Out for a nice cycle ride today along the coast.
This was a bit of a mission, but with success in the end! The place looked a bit weird for a cache hide but the many FP's drew us here. After some fiddling around at various place and even attempting to undo the top of the black box (don't do that!) we were a bit lost where else to look. A complicating factor was a big election sign being strapped to GZ. After concluding there was only one logical place it could be hidden, we squeezed around behind the sign and were able to make the find after all, good one! Ttfc & favo!

Back over the hill to finish off this month's challenge. After a good look at this one a couple of weeks ago, it was straight to it today. Quite cool too.
Over the hill today to pick up some highly favourited hides. And, despite the recent couple of days of heavy rain, it was a pleasant drive over and not a drop of rain as I geo-cycle-m-version 2-ed the 24km loop. This was not one of them. I think I have run out of caching senses now.
Day 9 on our holiday in New Zealand. Today we are in the area and surrounding area of Nelson. We also visited this tradi, found it, and signed the logbook.

The location is a bit sketchy, it does not feel very secure walking along the road. Great hiding spot though.
This one had us stumped for a little bit but Buzzybe figured it out. Great hide!!
Had a local pull up to see if we were okay, we said we were good and they carried on.
Thanks so much for the cache

This is fantastic. Thanks to some previous logs for some help to find this one pretty quickly.
Found it. On a second attempt today. I got to the gz.got thrown off course by GPS. Started to drive to look for the next.
I stopped, read the description, then the light bulb came on. I drove back. Went straight to the hide.

#11,366. I am geocaching around Nelson today before flying back to Wellington. Heading out towards Mapua direction for a challenge cache I ran out of time to sign yesterday. But picking up a few others along the way. I stopped here last weekend for a look. Discovered something that seemed promising but didn't deliver a cache. I had parked poorly and had to move the car to let a muggle out. So gave up. Half way to Motueka the penny dropped. So back here today and this time it was an instant find once I gave the thing due diligence. Soon had cache in hand. Clever cache hide. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks magpiy for hiding it here. Who am I to deny this one another favourite. Its worth two of them.
Took a little while to work this one out but got there in the end. Found with madcow 2 - tftc
A nice quick find thanks to the hint. Nicely hidden and favourite worthy. Was pleased I could disappear amongst the grass once off the road. It was quite busy today so waited a wee while for a gap in the traffic before making the dash to gz. TFTC
I stopped here first today, but didn't figure out where the cache was hidden. As I was hiking to several other caches along the walking trail, I had an epiphany, so on my way home, I stopped by and confirmed my suspicions. TFTC.
On a roll today!! Parked up and strolled over to a likely suspect! Ah haa, lookie here, Another idea, so another fave from me. Found with downsouthinv

Found at 26 January 2021 8:56 am on a short holiday to Marlborough-Nelson-Tasman, logging my finds as I go (where possible). Will expand when I get home. TFTC
Logged out of order. Found yesterday evening but forgot to log.

A sunday adventuring with Missnboyz. Park and grabs today dodging between the rain. An excellent cache here. Another FP for you! TFTC
This was my favorite find of the day! There was so much I liked about this cache....it just about had me shafted, thank goodness I know how to handle my shafts
Nicely done cache. RG1972 figured out how to retrieve it. My second time here. Glad to tick it off. TFTC magpiy.
Out today with RG1972, and we decided to go for a bike ride from Richmond to Rabbit Island, mopping up a few stray caches on the way. It was good weather, and good fun and exercise. Plenty of other people with the same idea (minus the caching bit). Thanks all COs.

Tried for this one years ago without success. Needed to up finds for today and a sunday so less activity all around. Nicely done. Tftc
Great! Another fav from me, that was an "aha moment", I played with the right thing at the beginning but then moved on to search down low. Read the hint and up again, could it be? Yes!
Thanks for this cache magpiy.
Thanks for this cache magpiy.
Hmmm, I wonder where it is? That looks interesting....nice! Thanks magpiy a clever hide.
What a great hide! We were about to give up when we saw something weird and started investigating this a bit further. Could not believe that we were on the right track but eventually the container was visible. Thanks for the effort.
Today the next tour with Vesperugo in Geraldine. It is a wonderful Region and we liked it so much to walk, explore and search the boxes.
This one we searched a while without success.
Many thanks to hide the box, show us the place and do the maintenance.

Out for a quick bike ride after a morning plane ride. This was my main target as grabbing some Carnival points. Not disappointed and after a bit of thinking discovered the well hidden cache. All very clever. Signed and replaced as found. Definitely deserves its fav points and just got another.
Novel cache and well thought out...soon found and noted TB signed and replaced as found...d 1.5??? Really
Wow the well constructed caches keep coming. Excellent and devious hide. Thanks for bringing us here magpiy
Taybeedragon and I are in Nelson taking some stress off a later trip to Christchurch to hunt for the elusive turtle. I thought this section of the cycle way might be a could place to find the dragon that hopefully will give us some tips to finding that turtle. Well, we found that dragon, but the turtle, as expectetd, is proving to be a problem. I don't think it is here in Nelson.
I like the this hide. Especially as I examined it closely and rejected it. The dragon decided to have another look and found the cache. And it is big enough for a trackable! So I dropped on in, in addition to a path tag. And since it meets my minimum size spec, it gets a favourite.

The Seagnoid, Toby and I are off to Nelson to hopefully find some hidden creatures along our way. Im looking for the elusive dragon. Its an early start out of Blenheim just after 6am. Weather forecast is for rain this afternoon so the earlier the better. Its a bike ride along the estuary so Jack and Jill have come along for the ride.
Nice hide here. Nearly outsmarted the Seagnoid with this one. He looked but rejected it. I gave it a closer inspection. Fav from me. Cheers

Down in Nelson for a 10 day holiday and one of our annual big treks in the wilderness somewhere in NZ. Mr Jag50 was onto it and quickly figured this one. Gets a favourite point from us.
I have been to do this cache a couple of times and every time I have pasted it has bugged me.Paddle chick and I were on our way back from Rabbit Island stopped to have another go with pc help we soon had the cache.Very clever hide this cache deserves a favorite .Tft Magpiy
A DNF fror me here. Only had a couple of minutes spare so will come back another time in the far future.
TregearP and I have completed part of this path from the other direction but hadn't got this far. Today we had a couple of hours spare and decided to attack the remaining caches from the other end.
A reasonably quick find with all in good order. Very nicely done and earns another FP - love your work.
Signed log and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache.

Excellent effort...there for every one to see...if they can. Dry as a chip snug as a bug, what a top spot. Favourite from us, really enjoyed that one, thank you
An easy find on todays bicycle ride from Nelson to Rabbit Island . This one deserves another favorit - tftc!
This must be the 3rd time over the past six years that I have visited this site. But today I noticed something a little unusual.[^] The old log is full and the additional added scrap of paper was sodden and needs to be replaced. Needs maintenance.
On the way into Richmond tonight we had to bypass 2 caches due to activity nearby. This one was clear on our return trip so a quick stop was made to find the cache.
Our first day caching on the bike trail and we took a small diversion to get this cache Glad we did as it was a good one. TFTC. Favourite from us.
