Find No. 1751. Found at 10.35am.

We had planned to take Geodog Penny on a caching trip to Wedderburn to get all those that we did not yet have. She has been missing out lately and has been unable to attend our caching days we have had, so today is her day out.

Heading out to do the Addams Family Series, that we have heard so much about and now we are finally doing it. If only Penny could talk. She loved walking over and around the rocks but there was one in particular that she had crawled under several times, it was so funny watching her. We looked at each other and said 'it has to be there somewhere' We knew Penny was trying to tell us that was where it was but we could not find it. Anyway finally Mr Tyred n Cranky approached it from a different angle and soon spotted the tricky hide.

Well done for finding such a tricky hiding spot and a FAV point from all of us.

TFTC. We decided to stay another day in Wedderburn to explore to the north around the Granite Hills and Korong Vale. Using caching as a guide.
We used to watch the Addams family in our youth, and then watched the repeats as the children grew up. A great series. We were not impressed with the Addams family movie. It was just not the same.
Thanks for reminding us and bringing us out this way.

18-Feb-17
Mogni made the find here. Gomez was my favourite from the show although when I was younger and slimmer I could do impersonations of his better half.
The cache was just lying on the ground so you might need to come and replace it where it should be. TFTC.

In the area with Aussie M & M, for an event earlier in the day so now it is time to head back towards our accommodation and find lots of the fantastic caches to be had.
This one is unfortunately not where it should be.... I followed my nose, didn't even take GPS from car.... spotted this one laying on ground near where I thought it would be.
Thanks

On our first trip to Wedderburn, a few years ago, this cache got the better of us. Being relatively new to geocaching, with inappropriate equipment, we still managed to find the approximate area. But Muggle Hubby was searching high, whilst I was searching low, all to no avail.
This time we brought in an addition to our search party - dalerious. In no time he had located the cache, but disappointingly it was just sitting on the ground in clear view.
When we'd signed the log, he replaced it, where he said he believed it should have been.
Either way, just for the scenery we were brought to, and the cleverly way it was originally hidden, here's another favourite point for you.

Out today on a country road trip to fill in some LGA's and explore the countryside.
Sun came and and it really heated up - great to explore some new spots!

This spot had me buggered. Was climbing up and allover with the pooch following, the sun starting to belt down. I returned and searched a spot once more for about the 4rd time. Ahhh didn't see that hole from that angle! Awesome. a fave from me Smile

Still a great area to go awandering
Thanks the old blokes for putting this cache out for us to find

Loving this show as a child , these caches were a must do for us this weekend. So we set off with TR! and honeysucker for the Addams Family series in The Granites Nature Reserve after a bite to eat in town , picking up a few in and around the area as we went. Us females sent the men up to this one as we watched from below giving advice on nothing in particular as they clambered and climbed their way to the sneaky hiding spot amongst the impressive granite rocks.
Thanks to the old blokes for the hide.

This series looked like a bit of fun, seeing we both loved the TV Series and Movies. So this was a definate for today.
Teamed up with TheTritonz today, and we had a lot of fun. There was laughter, fun and snorting to boot.

Out and about to catch up with some much loved members of the Addams Family plus a sprinkling of caches amongst the granitic outcrops north of "the burn".
As we clambered over the rocks, fellow cachers stood on the road directing us toward Gomez and his treasure. Our searching would have taken much longer but for some guidance - thanks Tritonz. A cleaverly hidden cache. Image added.

Our thanks to the old blokes for placing this cache.

Travelling around Australia with our Cat.

Staying a few days in St Arnaud, today we decided to head back up towards Wedderburn and find some more caches.

Pretty cold today with a minus 2degrees start and only 0.4 at 9am. Didn't deter us though a great day out touring. Razz

Hmm you Old Blokes, don't seem to be as OLD as your implying [?] Or are we getting older and hadn't noticed [?] Razz This was also one of our favourite shows.

Boy didn't Gomez give us the run around. Mrs Felix arrived after a while with a torch, (read that might be handy somehwhere) anyways mutter mutter was coming from Gz. Ive looked everywhere, theres a good spot here, im sure it was there, must be gone........ I don't think so... Sure enough a few minutes later click clack but no comments about finding the cache. WinkTwisted lol

Thanks for placing your cache to assist with our touring of the area, and feeding our geoaddiction. the old blokes Cool

A weekend in Wedderburn caching with the Sisterhood of the Cargo Pants brought us to this cache. we love the Addams Family so we had to do this series. We loved the granite boulders and as always we took the hard way. TFTC the old blokes.

Was good weather today and with good company, we decided to tackle the Adams Family series. I love these granitic outcrops, but oh so many places to hide a cache. After some rock scrambling, crawling and feeling into crevices, we finally had success, nice hide as usual. We then discovered a much easier track back to the car, which required a lot less scrambling. TFTC

10-May-15
Our coords were out so took longer to find than it should have. Found it after sheltering from the rain.

Find number two for this beautiful autumn afternoon. A bit of a scramble up the rocks but an excellent hide. TFTC

19-Apr-15
Wow what a fascinating area I could spend all day here, did a bit of investigating with Tamzy and young Macie and Aunty Lill, Tamzy got real adventurous but to no avail, then we rethought the information and took a slightly different direction to the GZ and with the hint in mind it wasn't too long when I managed to find the sneaky hide, well hidden great spot TFTC left one of my path tags for the next adventurous cacher TFTC

19-Apr-15
Have wanted to do these caches for a while but haven't had a chance, over this direction while on the hunt for new caches put out for the event so couldn't miss out on the opportunity to grab a few in the series. Unfortunately didn't have time to get them all! Had lots of fun at this one climbing in between all the rocks! TFTC

This was well worth me lumbering my way up here I enjoyed this cache immensely views for miles TFTC

Nice walk to GZ , the moss covered rocks were a delight. Lots of caves for roos to shelter in. Found cache after awhile all safe and well. Tfth

I found this one, cool spot. I liked the climb and I was able to crawl in to make the find. Saw a wasp nest too.

Caching this morning in Wedderburn with McLookers, Glanville Girls and Motndarg.

18-Apr-15
We chose a route to this cache that resulted in a bit of a climb. Tomstache was able to access the cache. Once we had signed the log and replaced, we found an easier way out. Another excellent cache, thanks the old blokes.

In Wedderburn for the weekend and caching this morning with Tomstache, Glanville Girls and Motndarg.

We mad the approach to this cache much harder than it needed to be! But we found a more simpler way down. What a beautiful area. Thanks for bringing us here.

18-Apr-15
We had found our way up this neck of the woods while chasing the 2015 event caches, and we simply couldn't resist exploring the Granites Reserve, especially with the Addams Family themed caches in there. We picked this cache as our first one of the series, and boy what a great one to start with. We absolutely loved clambering over the rocks and experiencing the views. Chook went up one way and Chunk another, then we turned around and Wozzle68 was there too. This was a real buzz to be up here for all of us. A nicely tucked away hide too. Thank you so much for bringing us here. A favourite for this one from us.

We came to Wedderburn for the 2 events and stayed a couple of nights to make the most of the weekend caching time.
We found your cache Gomez Addams on 31/05/2014 2:14 pm. This is our find #3761 and find #16 today. Aaron had a great time climbing the rocks! The cache is in good shape.
Thanks the old blokes for the cache!

31-May-14
Found during our stay in Wedderburn for the Wedderburn Events with LionJRB.

What fun we had here crawling and climbing. We took a good 15 minutes to make the find which was in a very sneaky place. How you find these spots is beyond me but I love them all.

Thanks for the hide. +1 Fav Points.

As Gomez himself once said, "Now, if you'll observe, my dear, croquet is a combination of TWO things: balance, timing, peripheral vision, superb coordination, and a killer's instinct!"

Ironic that if you replace the word croquet with caching this is a great summary of the qualities required to get this particular cache.

It took a little longer than I expected, but soon the cache was in my hand. I loved this location, loved the views, loved almost everything about it.

A favourite indeed!

Coming home Broken Hill with Dr Who 2 this was our second Addams Family cache. Although the page warned about the rock in the wet we headed off with the rain getting heavier. It took us quite a few minutes to locate the great hide and sat near it to add our names to the log.
Even in this weather we really enjoyed this location and the hide and are leaving a favorite point and will return for the rest another day when the weather is a bit better.
Thanks again The Old Blokes.

We headed off yesterday with a plan to head TOWARDS Horsham, but as our trips are generally slow (based on how many smilies we collect on the way) we made it to Charlton after dark, so this was our stop for the night.
Charlton cleaned up, the question of where to head next? Having attended the Wedderburn event earlier in the year, we knew there were some out of town caches we hadn't attempted, so decision that would would do the Mash & Addams family series.

A quick find on this one. TFTC SL

Took some geokids out for a drive this afternoon to get them out of the house and to test run my aGPS app without data connectivity.
After dropping by to visit "Wednesday" we decided to see if "Gomez" was home as well.
The geokids had fun navigating up to the rocks and were delighted with their find.

TFTC Old Blokes, we will try to get to the rest of the "Adams Family" while we're here in VIC.

Found with bogonghazy whilst in town for the days Events and a weekend of quality caching. My sincere thanks to the old blokes for providing us with many memorable caches, and the work and effort they put into their hides. Well done!

You certainly have to be at the right angle here. Sully and I grabbed our headtorches in the fading light,
and needed all our persistance to search the whole area on so many different levels until at last I finally spied this one.
Very clever use of props again, thanks again TOB

Now onto the Addams family series. I started with this one and first parked just inside the gate of the reserve when I thought, nah, lets see if I can drive down the road for a shorter walk which I could. The walk up to this series of boulders was good, uphill through some vegetation then the rocks to deal with. This was one cache where the final few metres took a while, both whilst looking for potential hidey holes and scrambling. Eventually had a very likely GZ and looked, no. Try another spot, no. Down here, no. Back tot he original and a better look soon had the cache in hand. What a brilliant hide, loved it. Thanks to the old blokes for bringing me up here.

Sorry the old blokes for the generic log but I'm trying to catch up on my logging, I currently have over 1000 to log before hitting some powertrails in the US after the block party next week. As always I enjoy the hunt whether I'm solo or with some of my caching or muggle friends. Thanks to those who have accompanied me to make the day more pleasurable and many thanks the old blokes for placing this cache.

Found by Mary & David at 1355. So many memories of Gomez! Dancing; kissing Morticia's fingers, then hand, then arm; his reaction when she spoke Spanish ... Another great place for a cache - how do you find them? Took a torch, but today it wasn't needed. Our thanks to the old blokes.

No. 18 for today of 29

What a good way to spend 1 day of my holidays. Head over to Wedderburn and try and get them all. The home of the old blokes, what challenges await me.

Not quite in Wedderburn but i am now becoming more of a fan of the old blokes. Had to tackle the Adams Family Caches.

A nice climb over the rocks and a few bumps of the head later and i had the cache. This is another amazing GZ you blokes have found.

A big weekend away up north west was had which took in just over 100 caches, including 4 First to Finds, about 1000 days towards the Unloved Cache Challenge (GC3KWWQ) and some really fun adventures both solo and with new and old friends. Topped off with a great well attended event cache at Wedderburn.. (with yummy food too) Thanks to all the various cache owners along the way and my apologies upfront for the copy / paste style logging of those 100 odd caches.. Some of the Caches hadn't been found for between 6months and 18months which added greatly to my 15 years required for GC3KWWQ.. Thanks..

Many of the caches were a blur and thus there isn't too much I can add from an individual cache log point of view, my apologies to the cache owners who each have put a lot of effort into their respective hides..

I arrived here with the plan of spending the night.. after grabbing a few of these ones which were quite unloved (no finds for at least 6months) After a good nights sleep witha fresh mind I was able to find Son of Telstra..

Thanks The Old Blokes for an awsome assortment of new and old caches and a wonderful event.

Find #2583

Last of the day before the pub meal. The previous logs had indicated to us that we were the first to visit this weekend which seemed strange because it was not that far from town. Maybe all the locals had already done the series. Swaggie1 does not particularly like caves but it was good to see that this was only one persons description. What we would like to know is how did you find this spot? Get caught in a rain shower and needed shelter? Still another off the list and now off to the pub for a well earned drink. TFTC the old blokes.

I left featherdown in the car again and packed in my pocket the world's smallest torch, just in casae I needed it.
I then made things harder than they needed to be by approaching from the rear.
The cache never seemed to get any nearer so I scaled the boulders via a narrow gully and emerged in the cave.
It was beautifully cool in there and I could easily have sat there a while and enjoyed a snooze or lunch but I had better return soon to the car.
The cache was hidden in a terrific spot.
Thanks again

We live with in a short vacinity of this cache. Great views. A little bit of information for those visiting the cache. The nests inside are actually mud swallow nests, not wasps as some had mentioned earlier. You will see many of this type of nest around the area. Take some time to study their building skills. Lovely spot

Almost there - the last we found in the series before the big ? cache - which we have saved for another upcoming trip after I somehow work the co-ordinates out - a task akin to torture for me but a happy torture! Found this one in the company of 'The Comrades'. TNLN. I'd like to thank 'the old blokes' for their efforts with the series (and other caches notably at Boort). All have provided enormous enjoyment and challenges in parts of this State I'd never have imagined visiting - and that's the fun of geocaching, you never know where you might end up or doing! Too, thank you 'The Comrades' for driving about, you saved pain in the plod legs.

31-May-11
This one took me longer than it should, although not that long. Probably because of normal satellite movements the coords were not quite as excellent for me as recent ones had been (they were still pretty good) so I didn't check an obvious area until I had gone back to the car for a torch, which in the end I didn't need anyway. Nice hide thanks the old blokes.

It wasn't hard to find the way up the top (unless you went around the wrong side!), but once we were there finding the cache was another story. Lots of little caves an nooks that would hold a cache. Eventually, Lady Morris found the container.
This made our last Addams Family cache the trickest.
Thanks for this great series, Robmc.

27-Mar-11
13th find of the day, and 2755th total find at 14:40.

Another great day of caching the area with the Morris and RobMc
We watched the Adams Family when we were younger, and tried to find a similarity between the character and the hide.
It took us a while to find this one, as the true path is not really that obvious. But with three teams clmbering around we think we found a couple of ways up, but the best way down.

Took: Nothing
Left: Nothing

Ah, Gomez:

Well we certainly had bliss with this one. We really enjoyed rambling around the rocks. What a great area to explore.

I ambled the short distance from the road toward the pile of rocks Smile
I always take longer than I should finding caches in this type of terrain.
It is so easy to get distracted climbing to the top of the highest rock and jumping across the deep ravines between them Big Grin

Oh! Yes.... the cache....!!

I poked and prodded,
I knelt and peered,
But wherever I looked,
No cache appeared Sad

I returned to the car,
Came back with a light.
Looked in the same places,
And found the cache in plain sight [:o]

A great bit of landscape to explore here.

Found by Roma and Max.
It was nice to see this addition to your Addams Family series, and particularly as Gomez was one of our favourite characters!
On our way to GZ we approached an ominous collection of large boulders and once we manouvered our way up to the published co-ordinates it was obvious there were many opportunities here to hide a geocache!
Armed with the recommended torch Max was delegated to eliminate these possibilities.
We were pleased that your numbers proved to be accurate and it didn't take all that long to make our find.
Thanks the old blokes for bringing us back to this lovely granite area.
Romax.
