Down from Auckland for 5 days on my own. Usually with rusty and Rebel but not this time. I solved this many moons ago, may even missed it on my last visit. But this time I have it on my radar. Got to the carpark and wandered over to GZ. A bit of stretching this way and that to get thru and viola! 10L, I doubt it, must have changed over the years. But all is good here today though.
Back home in Taranaki after a massive 5 days at the Dunedin Mega with MrMuggleNZ and its time to start logging my findsall 226 of themso wish me luck. Only 2 DNFs the whole time we were here so thats a testament to the dedication of the local cache owners and their maintenance prior to this event. Day 3A nice simple puzzle after all the brain torture Ive had solving some others around the area. Was glad to spot this one after a couple of false starts. MM went in for the retrieval and his new jacket got quite dirty. We also got super wet on the walk in and out but my feet were super snug and dry as I had my gumboots on. TFTC
Found on a trip down south to the Dunedin Mega with trayc.gsigned as MrMuggle or MM to save room..Thanks to the COs for all your caches. We had a blast. TFTC
This was one of the simpler puzzles that I solved in the lead up to the Mega. Looking at my map led me to believe this was likely to be a quiet place for caching and that was exactly how it turned out to be. The cache was spotted from a reasonable distance away but it took me a wee while to get myself into a position form which I could open the container and take care of the paperwork.
In Dunedin to gather some caches for a challenge. It is a big bush. All good. Thanks
Easy enough find but mind the sharp pencil. That is my blood on the end of it. Owwwww.
Quick find. My 20th large cache, so I can now go looking for the Jolly Green Giant - another day though. TFTC.
Had solved this awhile ago. Needed a size not chosed cache for my latest challenge and this was one of a small number. Pleased to make a relatively quick find as I was worried. Took an extra stroll out to the beach. Beautiful view.
Thanks for the cache Guwapo

Had trouble right at the start, as I couldn't see any of the required images on the geocaching app on my android phone, nor on Chrome on my laptop. Messaged CO who suggested I try c:geo on iphone or firefox on laptop. Sure enough Firefox on my laptop revealed the images and then it didn't take long to obtain the co-ordinates and hint. Today I was passing by and thought I'd give it a go. Went way too far, and then thought I'd found a geotrail, but it was the wrong one, though I felt pretty confident about the general location. Then found another way in (not really the direction of approach suggested in the hint) and went right in, looking about. Thought it would be easy to see, given the size of it - and finally I saw it - how on earth did it take me so long! Signed the nice clean and dry log. TFTC.
Super fun. Had a great time solving and finding this one. Had to go deep in the bush to reach it. Thank you for the fun
I luv QR puzzles. So few get used and an archived one in Cromwell was solved first but a search of the GZ revealed the plum tree was no more. Solved this puzzle and added it to the PQ for a drive up the coast. Like a few others I took the wrong path and appeared at the beach to turn around and try again. The big whey can was spotted after eyes adjusted to the shade and drew the cache from hide. No swag, TNLN, and popped the dry bagged logbook back through the narrow opening. Discovered a TB or two before returning the cache to hide. A qualifier for the Jolly Green giant should I find myself caching the Waitati someday. *RTP 700pt puzzle increased 150pt!*. Win win. TFTC
On a caching trip to the Dunedin area with Nosynel. Day 3. Worked out this one in our accommodation nearby so visited to collect. Took tb also, to continue its quest. Never been out this way before so it has been intetesting. Thanks for the puzzle and hide. Love the big container!

Jude_E solved this puzzle on her computer. She managed to find her way into the gz. It was a pleasant stroll as it was sheltered in this area.
Jude_E and I are on another road trip. We stayed in Dunedin last night. It was a bit rainy yesterday. That hindered the caching a bit. It's just blowing a gale at the moment. Thanks for hiding this cache Guwapo I appreciate it.

Easy puzzle but not so easy find. Spotted from 6 metres away but how to get to it? Managed it with some difficulty. Please to finally get this one after solving it ages ago. The cache is in great condition. TFTC!!
'All the information required - including parking and hint - is located in the images below.'
Oh sheesh what info? no personal notes jotted down and no service, oh well will try to search the cache out lol.
The 'beach access' was slightly overgrown! got thru it on the right track spotting the sand path now and again. In a way this helped as the geotrail was more noticeable. Now, just a look around and quickly spied the cache. Luckily, a nice sized one or may have missed it. Signed log, added a TB, plenty of room tftc Guwapo nice one!

Enjoyed this one - needed something that didn’t use too much brain power

Stretch0 had solved this ages ago when we were coming to the Dunedin Mega !!!! Nice to get the find today - looked in wrong place first then we found the right way to GZ thanks for the puzzle and the cache - log signed
Solved this ages ago but not living here i had to await for me to return, finally able to make the find. Had to recheck some info on which confirmed things so after a little more of a check done we found our prize Thanks for the cache:-)
(# 6096). Day 7 of my South Island odyssey. Today is getting some caches around Dunedin as well as having a good look around. Solved this some time ago. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC
Worked this out ages ago, and this weekend was the time to track it down. Thanks for the fun on a lovely winters day.
Going for a road trip to Dunedin for a new scenery. Doing a challenge and getting the ancient and modern places.
Worked out this a while ago.
Found, sign and put back in place.
Found with annielin and downsouthinv.

We made a stealthful approach from the south to sneak over the border.
After attending the community event we spent the afternoon picking up the wonders of the world (modern, ) and before tea we made a list of the next day .
So a early morning start to pick up a dt cache that been on my to do list for a while now.
And the was a puzzle I work out some time ago but just bo time to come to the big smoke for a caching trip so today is the day to pick up some of the caches on my solved list .
A recheck of my cord and we walked this one down .
A quick search soon had the goods in hand.
A beautiful day for a walk .

Found was at an event picking up rubbish and we headed off to find this cache. Nice to change this from an old DNF.
We parked up and intially took the wrong path to GZ. Realised our error and backtracked, and soon found ourselves near GZ. A nice big container that was easily spotted in its hiding place. TFTC
#17646. The shrubby thing at GZ was huge, so I was pleased to spot the cache. Carried on to the beach and then headed back to the car. TFTC.
Found with StreetWalker on our last full day in Dunedin, so mopping up a few solved puzzles was our focus today.
After a morning of drizzle, the sun had finally come out and it was warming up as we walked to GZ. I tried to access from one side and was pleased when SW said the magic words "found it". Great to find a good sized container, just a pity it is listed as "not chosen". Thanks for the puzzle and TFTC.

A quick stroll from the carpark found GZ deserted. Walked on a bit further after signing the log before returning to the car. TFTC
Solved this one a very long time ago but with it not been found for a very long time so I never attempted it until it had been found by someone else. So off we went to have a look and after a bit of time KJR found it. TFTC
Was glad to see this one had been replaced and so with the 7 day streak waited for an early finish from work and today was the day and lovely one at that too and with spring getting closer the days are getting longer. A bit of a stroll with Gadget169 and then a few minutes of wandering around and BINGO there was the cache hidden well but very visible from where I was standing. Glad to finally have a smiley here TFTC
A good one to tick off for International Geocaching Day. Been here so many time glad can cross off list.

Glad to see this one maintained and went to find it today while doing a few new caches in the area. And there it was! Yay... have spent many hours trying to find this one. Looks like it deep within the dunes. TFTC Guwapo
Yep, GZ has changed a lot! The dune has taken over and the tree on the beach side of the large broadleaf has been half-smothered and died. Cache not found since 2016, despite intensive searching by a couple of people, and two Needs Maintenance logs haven't been followed up.
Had this one worked out and Natalie247 suggested we go and try to find with our stabbing poles and spade as she had tried for this one before. We spent sometime around GZ and Natalie247 gave this one a good going over. We didn't hit anything much to our disappointment. Would be good to get a big cache. Maybe CO could check the area to keep it alive. Its been 2 years since a find.
Tried again this time with another cacher - 2 poles and 1 spade. After 90mins searching the GZ and expanding area by 15m.... still nothing. Think the container must be more than 30cm below sand.
No luck, two years since last found.... wonder if buried now or muggled as no strick with my stick after 20mins crawling around at go.
I've had this on my solved for AGES.. finally went to have a look, couldn't find it.. then read the logs and I see it's not been found since 2016.. so gave up as I don't like my chances.
I got started on this one almost a year ago when visiting a friend in Auckland who used her cell phone to decipher the thingymaghs. I made a site visit not long before christmas but the vegetation was too wet and it looked as if there had been a lot of recently blown in sand. I returned earlier this year and concluded that the cache was buried beneath the sand and that I'll need to return with a probe of sorts. Today I had arranged for a walk up from the Tomahawk Lagoon carpark to the soldiers monument and would tackle this after. I had some bamboo for probing and phoned KiwiChris and katie w to see if they had any suitable metal probes to bring. After the walk we set off into the dunes armed with probes, a spade and GPS receivers. We were soon at GZ and the probing began. Katie w had found it on an earlier occasion so unless there was cache creep we were pretty sure of finding it. Sure enough after several minutes katie w asked for the spade and the upright 10 litre bucket was found under about 8 cm of sand. The bucket is now sitting about 30cm higher than when found and should be easy to spot.
Solved the puzzle a long time ago, and then put this one on to my "I'll do this when I am next there' list. Well it turned out that the temporary leader of the Wednesday Walkers hadn't found it either, so we set off (with a previous finder) suitably armed with probes and spades as we suspected that it might be buried.
After much probing and pushing, katie_w exclaimed "That sounds funny", at which point out came the spades and we started to dig and, sure enough, after shifting about 10-15 cms of sand, the outlines of a bucket appeared. Given that it had started life standing clear, about 60 cms of sand must have drifted in.
Contents were all dry and in good condition. Grabbed two TBs that had just been dropped in and will move them on.
TNLN. TFTC.

Solved the puzzle easy enough. Came for 2 looks but no luck. Judging from past posts should have found with ease. TFTP.

Last summer the idea was born to visit [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green], together with [url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url]
After some important decisions regarding the beginning of our trip, the flights, the general route and the car were made, the most important question was still unanswered: which caches can we visit during our tour [?]
To get an answer for this topic I was fetching almost every cache from both islands [8)][:X]
[url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] and I love [Teal]'Geo-Arts'[/Teal]...so we added all these cache series to our wish list
After this decision was made this list was more than 300 puzzle caches long...unsolved puzzle caches
Two weeks before Christmas it was getting time to start solving all these mystery caches
Even with the different language I could find almost every solution
In the case I was not so successful I was contacting some of the CO's...and was always getting help from them...many thanks for this support [:X]
During the following weeks our cache list was growing and growing...meanwhile more than 1000 caches long...too long for a simple bookmark list from GC
Time to get our route and caches in sync...time to save the PQ's to our Garmins...time to start this holiday:
Chapter 7: Lovely [red]Dunedin[/red]
The real bad weather conditions from the last few days were over...but it was still stormy
Therefore we had to change our plans: visiting [red]Dunedin[/red] by bicycle was not anymore an option for us
Although we could see a lot of interesting places...and of course some nice caches in the area [:X]
This unknown cache was one of them
I needed only a couple of minutes to figure out where we had to look for this cache
After a nice walk at the beach we finally reached GZ...and some minutes later we also could sign the logbook
I would like to thank all the cache owners for showing us these great places and maintaining all these caches,

many thanks to the owner!
during our stay in dunedin we solved this riddle and went out one morning to search for the final. wow, you'd rather have to be blind not to find this superhuge container - the landscape behind is so beautiful! I lost my much loved hat somewhere out there, came back next day to search for it, but sadly it was gone. thank you for the riddle!
Bored CJ-Curry equals puzzle binge. Puzzle binge equals a lot of puzzle caches to find. Having not had a puzzle run for a while, I called on Silvachief and he and I blitzed through a bunch of puzzle caches this afternoon.
I'd not yet been around to this part of Dunedin, and nor had Silva. We went the long way around to the marked GZ and came up with nothing. Looking at the codes again, I confirmed that we were in the right area, then saw a part of the codes that I'd overlooked last time. Silva had a look around while I took some photos, and he came up trumps. What a lovely location for a cache - a favourite simply for that!

I have got the second and third info, but i am strugling to get the first one. Is the first one important to get?
A nice walk for PC Sniff, Basil the dog and me along the beach before finding this cache. Thanks for placing this. I love it when I find a puzzle cache I can solve, and even better when it is a 10 litre.
I supplied the GPS while jrb5050 had this techno thingyamagiggy on her phone, so was quickly zapped or something like that and we had the co-ords and even a clue so off we went and thankfully was an easy enough find and a 10 litre bucket for the Jolly Green Giant Challenge TFTC
Knew what was required when this first appeared but lacked the technology so put on backburner and stumbled across it again just recently. TFTC.
Been trying to get to this one for some time so good to finally get there Thanks
A nice solvable puzzle and a great little walk to the final! Thanks for the adventure.
We'd had thepuzzle worked out ages ago so not sure why it has taken us this long to do the leg work and actually find it. Co-ords were spot on and we enjoyed a wander along the beach afterwards. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
Love these big caches! Followed debsnz who had the GPS but then she stood back while I had do to the grovelling part to grab the cache and then replace it. I guess you could say this was a 'team' effort. Found with debsnz
Post Xmas dinner hunt. Had worked out puzzle a while ago. Retreived Finland TB
A brisk walk out to see Tomahawk dressed in beach wear of 3 layers of jackets, marinos & thermals. We went the cross country route that PurdiePurdie tends to take but MacPacMum bounded bushes and tussock to make the find. Strangely for a public holiday in Summer no-one else wanted to be on the beach (or outside) today. It was great to see this perfectly dry large cache. Left Finland TB. #107th Mega cache for MacPacMum
TFTC. A perfect day for caching about the beach - cold wind and the rain just holding off!! A nice wander to GZ had MacPacMum heading to the right spot and presenting a large, well stocked and dry cache to us.
Then we went a little further to get great views of the ocean and take a few photos.

579 - We had fun here. I was out caching with macpacmum and purdiepurdie after the mega cleanup and this was one puzzle we wanted to get before we headed for home. Even though it was raining when we arrived we decided we were heading in. It stopped raining by the time we found the way in and we trooped over the the cache which macpacmum found. Lots of cool swag in there! Being so close to the beach, we had to go and have a look over the dunes. What a nice beach, even in this weather. We took a few photos and then headed back to the car. We moved to nearer the swing and after finding that cache too, we went and enjoyed a swing on that really cool equipment in the park. We had the place to ourselves. We looked for a little fellow but he must have been busy elsewhere today and I don't blame him at all.
I enjoy the embedded info found in QR codes. We've come along way from Jetson futurisms!
My apologies for the lateness of this log. I'm back in Dunedin for a few days and only now realized I'd missed logging a few found with Rosmar and FMZ on a cache raid during the NZMega event. Seemed like I was a yoyo in and out of the car.... and I missed out on logging a few. I think we quit after 3AM....
Thanks for placing this cache and adding to our fun. It's a player driven game after all.

I wasn't sure whether the container was how it was meant to be when I found it, as it was staring me in the face and no hunting was required... I walked up to GZ and there was something I could not miss. I popped it open to reveal that it was indeed the cache... Hmm, that was a little too easy...
Log book out and a sticker added for the group, the cache was replaced and a little camo added to keep it safe. It's nice to see a good size container in use in the area, we don't get enough of them...
Found in the company of fellow Queensland hunters Kaisho53, OziBags, TheFourBees, Ghostgums and Mr Meccano.
Cheers Guwapo.

We were in Dunedin for the NZ Mega event and we were out and about finding caches in the company of Funkymunkyzone and IndianaJill. Able to solve this using modern technology and one agt GZ this was a quick find. Good sized container. TFTC.
Questioning reality would come later when we cached until 4am one night and then nearly 5am the next... TFTC!!!
Had solved this one at the beginning of the year when I knew that I was going to attend the Mega. A nice big cache.
Cheers for the cache.

These pictures are certainly catching on these days as more and more people buy smart phones. Nice dune walk to a nice large cache. Here with Tufty.
On the way to gz doubt set in as to whether I had actually solved this one. But it all turned out just fine. TFTC

I apologise for not leaving a completely personalised log, but I do want to thank you for the time, money and effort you put into placing your caches. Without people like you who place caches, there would be nothing for the rest of us to come and find. You are fantastic

Driving around the peninsula, primarily looking for solved puzzles, This one was quickly 'solved', but getting to GZ was a bit wonky.. first there was the 36 hour flight to get from Denmark to New Zealand and then there was rhe 3 day drive from Christchurch to Dunedin.. and then there was us, just walking the straight line between the car and GZ.. which, of course, is the wrong way to walk to GZ.. doh!
When we finally got on the right track, the cache was an easy find

Good one, I like it, a quick night find with Ingidayna and CachemanChris after a PTA meeting. TFTC
Usually my phone can read these, but it didn't seem to like these ones, so I had to use an alternative method.
Enjoyed the cache location and didn't take long to find the cache.
Thanks.
