Seventh day in New Zealand ??. This is my first visit to this extraordinary country and the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream. In the past, it always failed due to the lack of a travel companion. After a stopover in Qatar and 8 days in Australia, our journey continued from Auckland to Queenstown with various stopovers.**We still had enough time for a few caches before we left Dunedin this afternoon. We quickly made the right grab and held the container in our hands. Fr mich ist es der erste Besuch dieses auergewhnlichen Landes und die Erfllung eines lang gehegten Traums. Es scheiterte in der Vergangenheit immer an einem fehlenden Reisebegleiter. Jetzt gab es die Chance mich einer groen Gruppe von berwiegend deutschen Geocachern anzuschlieen und ich ergriff sie mit Freuden. It is so odd to imagine that I am going to visit a place that is nearly on the opposite of the globe from my usual hangouts. In Denmark it is late winter/early spring, and I am exchanging the winter-part for late summer in Australia and early autumn in New Zealand. This is so exciting.The itinerary is Frankfurt (Germany), Doha (Qatar), Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns (Australia) and Auckland, Rotorua, Wellington, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dunedin, Cromwell, Queenstown (New Zealand) before flying back to Europe. That will be two new continents and three new countries for me - and as far away from home as I have ever been. It is a lot of places and travelling, but we also have a plan to find lots of geocaches and see the sights and beautiful nature.We are getting closer to the end of our trip, and in a few days we are heading back to Europe, but thankfully we still have some caching to do. Today we are driving from Christchurch to Dunedin with a stop over at Moeraki to see the big boulders. It is an interesting and beautiful drive along the coastline and with a view to low mountains in the distance towards west. Eventually we made it to Dunedin ahead of Pink!After the trip to Unity Park and the old cache from November 2000, I tagged along with some /new) friends from the tour group, and together we could find some more caches in Dunedin. This was along the road that we headed towards the city center.Tak for cachen til Guwapo.

I could see the cache on the initial walk past but was unable to attempt a retrieval due to muggles close by. But on the way back to the car, GZ was deserted and I made a quick swoop in on the cache. We enjoyed looking at all the historic buildings along Princes Street, TFTC!

Just arrived in Dunedin and dropped off the hire car, walking back into town. Glad to see that this has been kept alive in a temporary location, and also glad that it got me to the 2nd hand book shop - always worth a look, and got a book to keep me amused for the afternoon. Got quizzed by the owner for book recommendations, which isn't usually the way it goes... Now off to find food before chilling in the hotel for the afternoon.TFTC!(Signed SQG)

Thanks for a quick find tonight . Looking for some low or higher DT caches. There is amazing number of 1.5/1.5. So pleased to pick this one up for a challenge I am working on. Started at the wrong end of the rainbow, darn as it wasn't very clean .

Day 4 ( I think?!?) off my South Island roadie and I up early enough to get out to find a couple of caches before meeting my colleague.

A good time to visit before Dunners comes to live. Even in the dark the hint made sense and I soon found what I was looking for.

Somehow a park'n'grab in this busy street was made the most easiest Diff:3 plonk'n'grab at 9pm when an opportunity to stop while going past the closed business had the driest mint tin in hand with plenty of room of the logslips to sign log (somewhere) in the middle as the pages unfurled. A handy little peg kept the log from escaping the tiny baggy as the southerly flicked leaves up the street. A door park, another plus, as buses were not far away seen this one found in the second place I felt for. I expected an urban camper to be stretched out here but maybe it was too drafty? Returned to hide and away to the shops. tftc

We have come to Dunedin this weekend for our daughter's graduation. Unfortunately the ceremonies have been cancelled due to a terrorist threat. We are still making the best of our time here. I got up early and went for a walk from our hotel to find a few caches. Good spot for the cache. Enjoying all the murals and art work along the way. TFTC, Biggles.
