I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in a prior reviewer note.
Hi ScruffyNZ
This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).
I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.
Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.
Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

GPS to us to open grassed area. Expanded search area as we looked including around the two sheds. No luck today
DNF ON PURPOSE. Too hard, weird and shi**y behind the shed. Good luck. App sent us to the distant tree, but that was what was weird!
Hmm had a look around, gps took us away from the sheds towards a tree but didn't find anything there. Searched around sheds but one was a bit yucky at the back so decided not to hang around
Found it lying in in the open and lid gone. Luckily still dry inside. I found the lid lying nearby so replaced it and tucked the cache away a bit.
Found it. Thanks to Tokerau who put in a kind of a log paper. Still I mag no metal. Fount it at
S 35*48.761. E173*38.667
S 35*48.761. E173*38.667
No log. no mag. Not even next to anything metal as the boats he'd is wooden clad, however I have taken its photo and left by the corner.
11:53 AM spent a good 10 minutes looking but didn’t find anything.
Add us to the ever growing list of DNFers

Not prepared to look too hard around the boat shed due to it being used as a toilet by some yucky people - feaces and toilet paper everywhere! Foul!!
I write "WRITE NOTE" because it's a time when we can't go on a long adventure, so I travel in the memories of my visits. That's why I'm only stretching the Travel Bug from the adventures in New Zealand. Writing "Found it" is no longer correct, but it wasn't today.
I am sending a beautiful greeting from the Czech Republic.

The compass and coordinates were bumping and jumping all over the place. We searched high and low at the sheds but to no avail. Lots of work has been done around the shed but the shed itself is untouched. Maybe we just missed it. Real shame to get this DNF after being so lucky with the rest of the lakes series.
DNF - looks like this area has been cleared out there is a bollard but it has a padlock on it.
Was the first of 11 caches we attempted around Lake Taharoa, on a family and friends weekend at the campground. TFTC
Beautiful Lake! The coordinates are not accurate, better stick to the description. Then you‘ll find it
what a beautiful landscape this is, wow.
At first we searched in vain near the coordinates. after another look at the listing, we were about 12 meters in the off find.
Tftc and greetings from Germany.

Set off early this morning for a well earned caching trip with my buddy and navigator at my side to get as many of these new caches that I could find. The day dawned bright and sunny so we set off to the wop wops in the trusty geo mobile. Initial parking spot had us deceptively close to the cache but not close enough. Finally found the way in and the cache was soon in hand. TFTC.
We came to Kai Iwi Lakes today for the earthcache, and after completing those tasks we had time to look for some of the Trads around the lake. We followed our GPS to look for Secluded Sailors. As the numbers counted down we could see a likely spot for the cache, but no, our GPS indicated further on. But when there was nothing at this GZ, we returned to the more likely location, and soon spied the container. TFTC
Out on a nice walk around Lake Taharoa. We guessed where this might be and were proved correct. Tftc.

Nice quick find. I disagree with the CO'S views of the campground fees. At $15 pp/pn I think they are quite reasonable and there is no kick out time either which means you can stay and explore and swim a little longer on the day you are due out.
Just spent a couple of hours at the Kauri Museum, now its back to Dargarville for an evening event. Come out tho Lake Taharoa for a walk around the lake. When we got to the southern beach and read the signs we realised this was going to take a lot longer than we had planned for. So we aborted our plans and returned to Toby. Snagged this one along our way. Cheers. Man this place is buzzing. Its New Years Eve and there are people everywhere. Even wardens at the entry checking up on 'Alcohol Free Zone' for the night.
Monday - New Years Eve - day seventeen - Whangarei - Dargarville - Whangarei today in Toby. Zara gets another rest. So lets go exploring!!
Its another epic 3+ week geocaching adventure with The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and William to the Far North. What an amazing place to explore. Lots of walks, gravel roads and sand. Lots of amazing trees, beaches and interesting POIs. Lots of kilometers traveled by vehicle and foot. Vehicle breakdowns, making new friends and catching up with old friends and family. Snagged a couple of FTF's, lots of lonely caches and the odd event along the way. Lots of cache maintenance and replaced caches on this trip. But what an incredible adventure!!. Thanks to all the CO's who have made this trip so memorable..

One of today's aims was to walk around the lake. But I had badly underestimated the distance, so we aborted. Now we are heading back to do a few at the other end of the lake. Lots of muggles but no problems retrieving the cache.
Day seventeen of an awesome, tiring, long, three week holiday geocaching with Taybeedragon in the upper north. Taybeedragon and I scooted over from Whangarei this morning, especially to visit the kauri museaum, then back to Dargaville for a sundown event and back back to Whangarei for bed and a sunrise event. The whole trip comprised of hours of walking on sand, sliding down sand dunes, hundreds of kilometres of unsealed roads, car breakdowns, paddling out to islands, lighthouses, dolphins, goats, events, FTFs, weird boulders. You name it, we saw it. Lots of bisons, lots of cache maintenance, lots of sunscreen. A month is enough. I am glad to be back home. Except that now I have to write up my trip. We averaged just 20 caches per day, but that is still a lot of logging!
Happy new Planetary Orbit from the Seagnoid!

I was able to find this Cache very quick after locating the Boatshed. This was the first Cache on my walk around Lake Taharoa.
Today we had a trip around Dargaville, thereby visiting many locations especially the near Kauri forest, and looking for caches, too. On this trip we searched, found and logged a lot of caches. The weather was good all day long, but it got more and more cloudy in the afternoon.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had other things to do than observing harmless geocachers.
Thanks to 'ScruffyNZ and Sparkyxx' for showing us this location and for the fun we had at 'Secluded Sailors (Northland)'. The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
This Cache was our first one here in this lake Region, but it should not be the last one, too.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

Quick find here. Unfortunately all the paths round here are closed until the 31st so unable to do any other caches here today which is a shame as it's a beautiful area.
This one took us a while, as we located the correct object, but not the correct hight. IN the end, we succeded. Thanks for hiding!
After setting up camp we used the beautiful weather for a stroll around the lake.
Here we had to search a big longer. The combination of listing and hint brought us to the right spot. However, the terrain rating of 1.5 is only correct if you are about 2 metres tall. Fortunately, there is a bit of a ledge that shorter people can stand on.
Thank you for this Cache!

We came to see the lakes here and logged some caches on the way. The coords were here way off, but still M found the cache quite quickly some 25 meters from the GZ.

Not a quick find, but got there in the end. Final find for the day. Tnlnsl. Tftc!
Tricky find this one, but find it we did on our bike ride round the lake with Kiwiterm and 3 wee bucks. Legs are getting weary now, especially for the wee ones
We had booked to stay at the Pine Beach campsite for one night when planning our visit from the UK and found it almost empty when we arrived yesterday evening as the heavy rains had sent everyone packing! Luckily we are travelling in a campervan, so the rain was not such a problem. We were pleased to find it had dried up this morning and we could find a few caches here before heading south.
We guess this place would normally be a hive of activity at this time of year, but the weather meant we had it to ourselves for a quick find. We’d parked the camper over the road from the track entrance and when we got back we spotted a Kingfisher flying over the pool and it landed on one of the many dead trees sticking up from the pool. We watched it for some while as it flew from tree top to tree top and dived down for a meal a couple of times. Just beautiful and so much bigger than the Kingfishers we have in the UK. SL. TFTC.

I don't went to try camp here... Lot of signs about forbidden. Easy find but fare to the GPS coordinates. Hopefully I had read hint. TFTC
Wow....so exciting to be driven up here while on holiday in Dargaville ....
Had no idea how beautiful or is !
So keen to return and find the other caches...and have a swim and a kayak.!
Well today I made a start....was with a non walker so this is the only one I could do !

Yup its definitely there. Not much metal around so we were scratching our heads for a while but persistence prevails. TFTC
TFTC, cache is defiantly there, it is a tight squeeze, took some time to gain access to it but successful nonetheless.
Found together with metoll after hard minutes of calculating the real Coords. They are 30m off - didnt like the place of the cache though. (Campers toilet!)
8.05am - DAY 1 of 3. This is our first full day of caching in the Northland Region on this trip. Plan was to travel up from Dargaville through the forest to Kaikohe and stop when we needed sleep.
Sorry to say a lot of caches on our first leg were missing and a lot needed repairs done to them.
Would advise future cachers to check the DNF's before wasting lots of time trying to find these ones.
Trip took us to lakes, boulders, churches, cemetries and a great array of other locations.
The kilometres just seemed to flash by with food and drink stops sometimes missed.
Don't know how we ended up in Kaitaia for our night stop but woke up the motelier at some unusual hour for a bed. SLTFTC

Fapandgap, Squirrel Nutcase and I traveled north from Rotorua last getting as far as Dargarville where we stayed the night. Stopped here to get a few Trad while doing the earthcache nearby this one took a little while for us to find as co ordinates were out a bit for us but once we got in the right GZ Squirrel soon had cache in hand. Signed log BGH our initials.

Visiting Northland for Easter... The plan for today was to head up the Kauri Coast to Hokianga Harbour, then skip across to the Pacific Coast until we were somewhere near Kaitaia. We really hope to make a big dent into several challenges we are working on...
The coordinates seemed well out for us. Using our instinct, we were able to backtrack to a more suitable location and the hide was spotted at the right angle. TFTC.

My caching buddy and I went on a lovely drive today from Okaihau, to Omapere, Kai Iwi lakes, Dargaville and then back home. This scenic route was beautiful. I loved the forest being so close to the road and the kauris were amazing. I must bring the kids for a drive. I'm not sure if I've been to the lakes before. We just had a look around today and didn't do the walk around the whole lake. We'll be back another day for that. We figured the cache was on one of the buildings but it still took us a while to find it. Our co-ords were S 35° 48.760 E 173° 38.660. TFTC
Visiting the lakes today on a very hot day, hoping to find all the caches here. First on the list was this one. GZ was a wooden building, but after thinking about the hint, cache was soon found.

In the area for the day with Trout-fly and we were circumnavigating the lake. Parked at the entrance to the campground on the main road and followed the trail around the lake and managed to find them all. Took 3 hours on foot with caching/rest stops and this was the first one along the way. Cache soon located once we ignored the GPS. TFTC
Other than the back of the building being used as a toilet, phew it stinks, no worries with the find. The cords were 20m away from the hide but it was in an obvious place. Thanks.
After some searching we headed in the right direction and Mr came up with the goods, TFTC a busy wee spot at the moment
Found with Spanish Dancer who is a natural and tracked this one down quickly while I was still getting my bearings. TFTC
Found while out grabbing the nearby Earthcache. Managed to grab just before the rain closed in. TFTC
#639 After catching up with fellow Whangarei geocachers for the Earthcache, we quickly got this lakeside cache with &Co (who needed extra encouragement to avoid the water). TFT(shed)C.
No vestige of a cache matching the hint or other log entries at this location. As others have commented the co-ordinates don't match the hint, so we ignored them.
Found yesterday, Easter Monday, with muggles everywhere but came back today with no-one in sight and the PEN we forgot yesterday. TFTC
Found while on our last day at the Lakes.
Unfortunately its a well "Used" area...
Coords out a little.

#10985. We'd heard that the lakes were well worth a visit, so made the side trip. Time was getting on, so we just looked for this one. We drove on to the motor camp, which was well patronised. Lots of people were enjoying the water. TFTC.
To day we left Doubtless Bay after spending 6 enjoyable days here and took the scenic route to Whangarei - via Apihara, the Rawene ferry, Opononi, Kai Iwi lakes then Dargaville. A big day, so had to drive past caches, but a most interesting trip.
We had never been to these lakes before so made the detour to have a look. Luckily there was one easily accessible cache to find, though the off co-ordinates made the search longer than need be. Our co-ords are S 35° 48.764 E 173° 38.658. TFTC.

Nice easy walk from the camp, cache and swim. Shame people are ripping off the community by free camping here.
Diverted to here this afternoon on the way south to Dargaville as we had a bit of time available. The comment in the previous log is quite correct, the cache was 29 metres out for me. But if you use this information in conjunction with the hint you'll find it fast. Signed log, TFTC
Found while camping with friends at Kai Iwi Lakes. Lots of wasps nests and prickly things in this area. Coordinates seem to be a bit off but the hint really helps. TFTC
