A little day to ourselves in Whakatane found us the perfect opportunity to explore this neck of the woods! A great day trekking along the Nga Tapuwae o Toi track with some spectacular views, whilst picking up these caches at the same time. A fun Greek lesson at the same time!
Another quick grab along the track. Many thanks for the hide!

[green] Home for Christmas. Well, sort of. Home is actually Palmerston North, the rest of the family are in Rotorua, and now I am in Opotiki with mum and the rest of the family who left for the beach a few days ago, staying at the Tirohanga Campground. I haven't swum in the ocean for years!! Got here Christmas Eve after caching most of the way up from Rotorua, with the exception of Kawerau to Whakatane. The wind slammed the car door shut on mum's hand, and so we had to get it checked out at Whakatane Hospital. No bones broken, luckily, but plenty of other crush injuries. Time will fix them easily enough.
Day after the day after Christmas. I borrow my sister's car to spend a day on the hikoi o Nga Tapuwae o Toi.
Log is full here.
Thanks for the cache, and Merry Christmas from the Seagnoid!

Thanks to Geckoh for this nice and challenging cache-series [^] - and cheers from Germany!

A trip from Rotorua to Whakatane (for a Greek Lesson) and then on to Tauranga. Another lovely day on the road and a few caches to boot. Thanks for placing them.
Working back in Whakatane and daylight saving meant I could tackle at least some of this walk - what amazing views thanks for bringing me here. Quick and easy find. TFTC
Enjoying a good walk finding caches on the way.beautiful weather. Cache all good thanks geckoh
A lovely day but a little chilly when on the exposed ridges in the wind.
Many thanks

Was in Whakatane for the long weekend with the family and mother in law. Decided to get up early and do the TGC walk while the rest of the house was still fast asleep. Did the required reading the night before and headed out as the sun started rising to commence the walk. Did not have too many troubles finding the caches I looked for. Only problem was I misjudged the length of the walk and the caches I was going to do on the way back I had to skip as need to be home by 10am. TFTC and for getting me out into the bush again! Really enjoyed the walk even though it did make me realise I am not as fit as I thought I was

"When you see someone putting on their boots, you can be sure that an adventure is about to happen!" .... and it did!!
Mrs D-A went with son Sam, daughter-in-law Nat, little Dominic (DJ-2006) and little Aidan and off we went for a day in the sun along the Kohi Point walkway --- many caches here that have needed finding for some time.
Mr D-A was in charge of transport at each end --- very necessary
It was a grand day and lots to see and bird life to enjoy --- and having these caches interspersed along the way made it a grand adventure for the littlies --- 7 years and 4 years old. They had such fun and were instrumental in securing many of the finds.
Thank you Geckohs for our day

Good descriptions and hints, easy to find, excellent weather, caching is fun. Thanks CO
Our second for the day. Enjoyed our walk, great idea it was to spend couple hours walking on this grand day. And some caches to find as well. TFTC
We do a part of the Kohi Point Walkway today. It's very windy, sunny and warm. Easy found.
We do enjoy the walk and the views very much.
Thanks CO

Met some other cachers at GZ, they had the cache in their hands- so we had a catch up while we signed the log. t4tc
TFTC and for encouraging us to tackle this track. WE are from Auckland and have never walked this track or even knew what we were in for. BUt it is a lovely walk with super stunning views.
2333 GAFF2 Some up, some down, but still a lovely walk. Think I took a photo of the city view, but not sure how it will turn out. Good coordinates, cache dry and intact.

Just got some wi-fi so trying to catch up on some logging.
One thing I have learnt from trails such as this Nga Tapuwae o Toi track is, if you enjoyed the walk to the first cache, and you time up your sleeve, then why waste scenery!?! Day or night, the walk is a delight. DNFed on Beta cache, but wanted extra exercise anyway, so came on out a bit further to get a couple.
Love the sounds of the birds at night. Soon found the cache, TNLN, then on to Zeta

Second cache of many that I found today on the Nga Tapuwae o Toi (in the footsteps of Toi) track. The excellent hints ensured that no time was wasted (this proved to be important later on). TFTC.
The second of the caches we found on the walkway. This was a great series. Good clues, easy finds (as they should be) and the incentive to do the walk. Ta heaps. Nice bear
ohh, another rewarewa! I know what these are now . On the homeward straight back to the car which is good as the rain is starting and it's not going to be a passing shower!
Teamed up with Spiderhouse to try and knock off a few more Eastern Bay caches. The weather held long enough for us to launch our assault...
On a mission to find the TGC caches. Have done this one already, but a first time visit for Spiderhouse. Cache is all good.

Out for the day with Squirrel Nutcase for an assault on Geckoh territory. The Squirrel has found this one before, but good to have company.
Thanks Geckoh.
Thanks Geckoh.
Spoke too soon. Now seen 5 people. Haha, 3 of them are walking my way and passed me! Glad I know what a rewarewa looks like. TFTC

The last of six we found today. Such a great track with beautiful views. Lovely to see so many people out using it!
Kiwi69 and I decieded that this was our challenge, so made an early start for Whakatane from home. It's The day is going to be a warm one.
Some great views along the coast and back to Whakatane well worth the early start

Out & about caching in Whakatane with C&D, with Toi's circuit as our main objective for the day. Amazing views & a great walk, TFTC
This one took slightly longer, but only because we were initially using the hint for another cache. TFTC
Day 3 of the trip home to Christchurch, Whakatane to Te Araroa. Another quick find. Thanks for the hide
Thankyou Geckoh for all those Caches we picked up of yours today, very good walk from "Westend to Hillcrest.TFTC
Was about to head back, when I noticed how close this cache was to the last. Had to get this... even if it meant carrying the sidekick.
The narrow path leaves no room for error... one slip and you're history. Anyway, found the cache quickly and did an about turn. TFTC.

What a beautiful spring day for a walk along the Toi track! Spring is definitely here.
A weekend in Whakatane was the perfect time to tackle this series.
Thanks for placing the caches along this trail, with (in our opinion) very accurate coordinates and difficulty/terrain ratings.
There were quite a few muggles on the trail today, but nothing we couldn't handle. Locate the hide and stealthily replaced it. Thanks for the cache.

Started on the TGC challenge tonight and visited the first 5 caches in the dark. Found this one quite quickly with the hint. SL TFTC
Completed the whole series. Enjoyed the walk and views of all the bays. The weather held up well too thankfully. No caches posed any real difficulty's. Thanks for bringing me here.
After spending quite a long time searching for the last cache it was nice to find this one so quickly.

Spent a lovely morning ducking in and out of rain showers, around tree trunks, foliage, viewpoints, Maori Pa's, mud puddles & generally having a great time. And we saw a lot of geckohs! Thank you Team Geckoh for all your efforts.
We were in Whakatane on a lovely sunny day & ideal weather for such a challenge. The hint was most helpful which made for a quick find. We were about to leave GZ when a large doggle with a Hi-Vis vest came sniffing around. It's master (a DoC worker) was checking out the locality of recently released kiwis with her TV antenna. We had a great conversation and the DoC worker commented that she had heard about Geocaching while visiting her mother in Wales! She already had a GPS so was considering taking up Geocaching. An ideal job to being looking for caches. Now onto the next cache in this challenge.
Out for Saturday jog – haha, walk, jog, walk, slip, climb, jog, walk etc…
Why did I start at West End ? I know it’s harder this way – definitely more ups.
Track way busier this end - have to keep tying my shoe laces - lol

Had to go back later for this one as it wasn't on the GPS. Stupid. Drove to top lookout though. Found OK. TFTC
