We arrived here as the sun was setting.Headed back to the Hyw we encountered a wombat on the middle of the road and he took a stand, eventually taking off. The cast line here is beautiful.TFTC
We're out spending the day exploring this part of the Ben Boyd National Park with friends and our first stop was here to pay our park entry fee and admire the incredible view. Obviously we gathered up the required information for this earthcache while we were here.Answers sent. Thanks for find #6146TNLN
What a 10/10 location. Pic may help you understand! Found on the Mega Capital Geobash coastal loop via Adelaide - Barrington - coast to Mexico City loop. A lot of caches and white line fever was sweated out. Thanks VKC1SR and clear skies from TeamAstro. Cache the planet! Day 11 of our 2 week road trip south from Brisbane. After overcoming floods, a bogged car and vehicle electrical issues, we finally reached Canberra to spend a few days with relatives before continuing south for a loop around the Snowy Mountains. Afterwards we headed towards Eden for the run home up along the coast.
After staying the night in Eden, the first port of call on the itinerary was a visit to Green Cape lighthouse. Only a small detour from our route was required to visit this cache. Having been bogged already once on this trip I was quite apprehensive of what the condition of the tracks may be after all the rain. I need not have worried as the roads in were in very good condition and in fact we ran into the grader and roller crew working on sections of the road still needing some repair.
A fine sunny day today, with a complete lack of wind, which were excellent viewing conditions at the lookout and further on to the lighthouse. I can image how unpleasant this would be on a blustery stormy day. TFTC

What a great view here. And so nice to do an earth cache that doesn't require a university degree in geology. I've given more fave points on this short trip that any other time. TFTC
Thank you for placing an Earth cache in this beautiful location. Logging a day later (minimal reception at GZ).
Stunning views! Thanks for placing a cache here. Found together with Emandel.
Dropped by after completing the Light to Light walk. Enjoyed the amazing views and collected our answers before heading into another camp for the night.

After completing the light to light walk as an overnight trip (highly recommended, great beginner's walk and such beautiful scenery) we stopped by the lookout as we were picking up car #1. It was a lot windier than the previous day, making it a chilly stop. But the sun was shining and it was just a stunning location. Plans are forming about the Nadgee wilderness walk! We collected our answers and then beelined back to the warm cars for the long drive back to Canberra. TFTC
*It's a disaster*
*It's an incredible mess*
The roads to Disaster Bay are now lined with blackened trees, a reminder of recent events that have scarred the local landscape.
I recall passing through heavily forested areas en route to Eden only a few years ago; these areas are now populated by no more than long branches in the ground, skeletons of their former selves.
But regrowth is emerging, evident right back from Bairnsdale and beyond - this park is intriguing in particular, it copped a fair bit of the fire, but better the trees go than the explosives storage.
Eden is back too.
People line the streets for the Easter weekend, hunting instincts switched from chocolate to carparks - a small sacrifice for businesses who are somehow still standing despite facing more disasters than most.
And so an excursion to Disaster Bay seemed ironically appropriate today, a homage to disasters past, present and future.
What a beautiful beach.
A glorious sandy curve of the coastline with views stretching on further than the overcast weather would allow us to see.
But, just over the hills, it can be seen for what it truly is - a façade for yet another disaster to reach its domain.
Add it to the list.
*But it's all we've got now*
*Yeah that's all we got*

We're down in Eden for a few days for a break, and of course we're collecting some of the local caches - because the caches are in all the best places.
Today we headed south from Eden for a good look over and around Green Cape - the weather was grey and the rain was spotting, and the waves were huge and spectacular- all in all it was a fantastic day to head down there. Oh, and we saw lots of whales, some seals, and a bunch of Wombats
This was cache number two and we had the place to ourselves, so, despite the wind, and a bit of rain, we sat down and drank in the view - and watched the huge waves crashing into the beach from waaaaaay out. Oh, and we saw some more whales out in the bayl

Bit smoky today but got to show the kids another view of our favourite place!!TFTC will email answers this evening.
In the country visiting Seemyshell along with 3 muggle friends, we only had time for a few caches here or there and SMS cleverly created stops along the way based on high value targets that muggles would also enjoy, this one was part of that. SMS sent the answers for both, thanks for bringing us to this lovely location!

Home from a few weeks away and checking my caches, found Id forgotten to do due diligence on this little beauty. While staying in Eden we toured around Ben Boyd NP and stopped here to take in the view. The first time I was here I was on my honeymoon nearly 36 years ago. I really wish I was into caching then as I was a lot fitter (and younger). Thanks for making us stop to take in the view again. Answers in a message.
Enjoyed a day out around Ben Boyd NP, and this lookout was our first stop. It was quite chilly early in the morning, so I was glad to be wearing a light jumper. Spectacular views. TFTC VKC1SR

That familiar refrain is quite often the precursor to an adventure, and this was definitely one of those cases.
What can I say about that road? It's definitely an adventure all by itself, and poor leafotwind's comments about night making it even more interminable than it might otherwise be definitely had its merits.
But we got there, eventually.
VKC1SR, I hope leafotwind didn't subject you to *too* many of my (I thought) amusing answers to your questions. Thanks for the Earthcache, it really was worth the trip. We certainly got a unique view.
I grew up on the edge of the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, so have had a fair amount of experience driving similar roads in the Otways. The payoff, usually, has quite literally been the light at the end of the dark track. And tonight, after getting so close, I was determined to make it so. My grandfather, you see, was an assistant keeper, and my father spent his early childhood in isolated places like that.
Thanks, leafotwind, for doing the extra miles so I could see the Green Cape lighthouses.
---
Road trip!
leafotwind and I had meticulously planned a trip in the opposite direction to fill a few gaps on a variety of challenges, but with the weather forecast to be reminiscent of an Activities Week tour of all the wet holes in the southwest of the state when I was in high school, a mad scramble ensued to come up with a scheme to complement those goals towards the eastern border instead.
Crossing off a few of the Country Road Atlas maps, finding a March, 2001 placement and a whole lot of Earthcaches meant we got in to Mallacoota just before midnight. Now for day two..

After quite a long drive back down the coast, nirgalagrin and I decided to find just one more EC for the day. It's a curious thing, subjectivity. This road felt interminable as we bounced and jounced to the lookout. Due to it being night we didn't get the full experience but who knows when we'll be in the area again?
A road trip east instead of west! nirgalagrin and I had been planning a trip out over to Mt. Gambier but given the forecast of rain, rain and more rain all through the weekend we scrambled to replan the trip aiming for the other side of the state. As it happened we went a little further than just the border and explored the NSW south-eastern coast. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining the caches found along the way.

On our vacation this year, we did a great trip as GER-17 to Australia.
GER-17 are DieFraudiemitmuss, Lundi263, de Eifelaner and murri24.
We started the tour in Melbourne where we spend a few days sightseeing and caching, including some trips out of the City to the Grampians an to the Great Ocean Road.
Nice place to be and to see.
From Melbourne we went to Alice Springs including Ayrs Rock, where we saw some nice sunsets and other great stone formations and spots.
Back in Melbourne we started by car to go to Sydney along the coast with zig zags in to the blue mountains and Canberra.
Finally we arrived in Sydney and spend here the last day of our holidays with caching and sightseeing.
During our trip wi although visited some Earth Caches. We saw wery nice locations and other nice things that are related to EC```s

DieFraudiemitmuss, Lundi263, Murri24 and I made this year a very great tour together. Our first target is Melbourne. So we started early in the morning to visit the city and to make a few geocaches. We found very nice locations and interesting spots. One day we rent a car. Very early in the morning we drive from Melbourne City over Geelong to the Great Ocean Road. Along this road we found so much interesting spots, we see a great landscape, and had have not enough time for sightseeing. The weather was fine but a little bit windy. This day was very long and hard, but wonderful.
After that we visit the Grampians. A little bit rain, a little bit windy and a little bit sunny day, we had fasten all weathers. We visit waterfalls, canyons, sandstone fomations and any Look Outs. Puhhh, what a great landscape.
The next part of our journey is to explore the Outback. From Ayers Rock we take a car and drive over Kings Canyon and many other Look Outs to Alice Springs. We visit any very interesting Caches and had a great time by comfortable temperature.
Now we drive from Melbourne in direction of Canberra, Blue Mountains and Sydney. We want to see so much as possible of this part of Australia. Today we started in Lakes Entrance and drive to Eden. Once more we find a great location.
This Cache was one of my favorite Caches, wich I would visit in Australia. Thank you very much for showing. This theme was very interesting. I have learned a lot over the australian geology.

Together with Team "GER-17" (consisting of murri24, der Eifelaner & dieFraudiemitmuss and me) I was able to find this Cache today while going with a rental from Lakes Entrance further east (and later on further north as well). We planned to reach Canberra today but finally decided to stay in Coomba for the night.

What an amazing view. Well worth the drive in our low 2wd. No issues with the gravel road in the dry. Great stop and excited to carry on to the lighthouse and pay the modest park fee. Answers sent.
On a trip around East Gippsland that will eventually take us passed Sydney. Stopping off at Eden and Batemans bay plus a few other places and I will looking for the occasionally picking up a geocache along the way. Today was Disaster Bays lucky day and I thank VKC1SR for placing this cache in the Ben Boyd National Park.
Had stayed the night looking over this view and got up early to explore this end of the park. On the way out, stopped in again for the EC. A top location especially with the early morning glow and clear skies. TFTC!!!!
Have previously 'found' this Earthcache, but took the opportunity to visit some trackballs as we were in this stunning area once again after 2 and a bit years...
What a great spot! We were fortunate enough to be staying in the area (Pambula Beach) while the Eden Whale Festival was on, so took the opportunity to come down to Green Cape and do the lighthouse tour which was fascinating and a tremendous view, if very windy! We also saw about 20 whales breaching, blowing and doing whatever whales do. Kids had a great time, and we stopped in at this lookout on the way back. It was worth the long drive out to the point. thanks.
I walked the Light to Light a month ago and its taken me this long to log the find. TFTC.
Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! Our journey started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island, before heading to Melbourne via Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Coorong, Mount Gambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park, Port Campbell, Cape Otway and Lorne, cramming in as much as possible on route. The second leg of our journey was a fabulous 9 days in Tasmania. Having then returned to Melbourne we set off on the third leg of our journey, which is to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota, Pambula Beach (where we are heading to at present), Thredbo, Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. After a visit to Sydney we will travel on to the Gold Coast, then after spending a few days in the nearby mountainous birding hotspots, followed by an overnight trip to Fraser Island, we will fly from Brisbane to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!
We are logging a Write Note only at present in order to keep our cache finds in order, but as soon as we can during our travels we will send our answers to the CO in order to be able to turn this note into a Found It. In the meantime thanks so much for the cache!

Came past Disaster Bay on the way to picking up four Majura venturers on the Light to Light walk at Green Cape. Had to stop here and check out the sensational view and answer a couple of questions. Looked for the chilli farm in the distance but couldn't see it. Thanks for highlighting this wonderful area. Went on to pick up the venturers who made it safely from Boyds Tower without any hassles.

Apologies for the copy and paste sections, I'm running out of time and still have a few logs to write.
We recently purchased a new camper trailer and we wanted to try it out on some short trips before we take it on a bigger trip to Cape York later in the year. Eden seemed like a sensible choice as geo daughters name is Eden and we knew she would get a bit of a giggle out of being in 'Eden town'. As usual Geo mum needs to be careful and not schedule too many 'Geo's' or the boys ( geo husband and son) get annoyed and she doesn't get to do any.
So I (geo mum) usually focus on the area we are visiting and do an advanced search firstly for Virtual or Web cam (very rare that those are around) So my usual first port of call is Earth caches they are my fav type of cache. Then I look at most fav points, oldest, letterboxes ect.
This Earth Cache certainly didn't disappoint, if i didn't already owe two other caches fav points I would give this one too, there s a down side to not finding every cache you go past you run out of fav points, what a view! It looks amazing down there, we could see poeple on the beach way off in the distance, it looked liek they were on a quad bike or something similar.
Geo hubby was keen to check out what was further down at Green Caope, being a fisherman its an iconic Australian fishing area.

What a lovely view! what a beautiful coastline! Geofamily staying in Wonboyn for the week and we took a trip out to Green Cape. I wanted to pick this cache up and it didn't disappoint. Grabbed the required info and headed off the check out the lighthouse and the Cape. Looking out over that beautiful beach was amazing and two days later in the middle of summer, on the school holidays on a nice warm day we had the whole 3 1/2 kilometre beach to ourselves. This is paradise! The fishing is great as well.
I really like learning about the local geology of a area so a favorite from me.
Thanks VKC1SR,

Suscoe's 6th find of the afternoon as we wandered the back blocks south of Eden with Phetlern.
We had just finished the SST trail and this was a good opportunity to locate some further off the track caches.
A bumpy ride in along the road today, we arrived and took in a beautiful sight.
What a splendid place for an Earth Cache.
Congratulations to VKC1SR for creating this cache here.
A most enjoyable geology session.

A bumpy ride in along the road today, we arrived and took in a beautiful sight.
What a splendid place for an Earth Cache.
Congratulations to VKC1SR for creating this cache here.

The plan this afternoon, with our fellow Victorians the Suscoe duo, was to head south as far as this cache and work our way back to Merimbula. In contrast to the last couple of days, around the SST series, the ratio of caches to kilometres was vastly different in the south.
We really enjoy doing Earth Caches, learning more about the geology of an area while taking in the spectacular views.
Our thanks to VKC1SR for approval to log.

What a great view. No disasters in sight today. Could not work out what City Rock was all about. Thanks VKC1SR

Interesting spot, didn't think I'd be here when I was planning this trip. A little bit of 4WDing to get here - you could do it in a 2WD but it's more fun in the Jeep. We explored the rest of the park after paying the relevant fees and checking out the great views from the lookout. Thanks for another earthcache VKC1SR, number 94 for me, favourite point added for the views!

Logged with permission from the CO. What a stunning viewpoint! TFTC. There seems to be a fair shortage of caches in this area, perhaps Parks NSW don't allow the physical ones?
A simply beautiful lookout. We can see why this is the sapphire coast. The blue blue water and rugged coastline is very special. Thanks so much for this cache. Answers emailed to the CO.
Wow - second visit, we should have logged this a year ago but forgot. We intended to come back and stay a bit longer this time round.
On our first visit there was a pair of Lyrebirds right next to the platform!
Saw about 10 this time in and around the Bittangabee Bay area.
TFTC - love the outlook. Loved the NP.

Just wow. Most amazing view I have seen for a long time. Thanks for bringing me to such a great place!
I was down this way with the Scouts to undertake the Light to Light walk and this was the only cache for the weekend that I was passing.
What a great view from GZ, I always love this view and the distance you can see on a clear day, well worth the stop. TFTC

Out on a long-weekend-long caching adventure with BatgirlandCo.
Finally we made it down here. What an awesome spot! Views are fantastic, and it's definitely worth heading down to Green Cape lighthouse too.
As Batgirl noted, we thought we'd been thwarted in our attempts to get to the lighthouse. The road was closed, but fortunately the rangers opened it while we were pondering what to do. Phew!

Car-trouble on an attempt to get to Green Cape exactly 12 months ago ended that trips caching exploits and entailed some disasters of our own. But whilst not to plan we still enjoyed some local sights, sounds and caches in the vicinity that time.
We almost thought that this trip may end in another Disaster when, having completed this one first up as we entered the park, we were confronted with lots of Road/Area Closed signs. Thankfully the park ranger arrived whilst we were considering our options to re-open everything! Thank goodness we didn't get up early and miss that! Had we been only a few minutes earlier we might have turned away (I was briefly thinking we were going to have to make another trip next year for this). So with everything up and running we spotted HEAPS of whales, diving birds, lizards, a goanna, a rather pretty python (yes folks - it's warming up), a sea eagle and lots more! Views are spectacular and the area well worth exploring. Thanks for bringing us here VKC1SR!

Love the view here was only tipped by seeing killer whales just down the way at the lighthouse tfth
This is, in our opinion, the best view on the south coast of NSW - wilderness as it has appeared relatively unchanged for a very long time. We enjoyed a day exploring (again) the many beautiful locations in this area. Thanks VKC1SR for a fantastic cache.
As WalW said we completed the walk and then did this cache on the way out. Great view with the blue sky finally coming out from the clouds.

We finished the Light to Light Walk, so it was time to head back to find the car at the other end. Though a bit wet for the walk, it made for spectacular ocean conditions. Thanks Bruce, Felicity, Hamish and Yvonne for a most pleasant 30km stroll!
We stopped briefly at the lookout to enjoy the views and visit the Earth cache. After finding the requisite information and taking a pic we headed onwards and homewards.
Email sent to cache owner. Thanks for the cache VKC1SR!
best wishes,
Wal

Had a great (if dusty) drive though the forest and then came to this enchanting place. Great views - and a cache to go with it. Many thanks VKC1SR.
Disaster Bay is absolutely, breath-takingly stunning. Thanks for making us take some extra time here.
What great views. Loved this earth cache. Interesting knowledge of the area.
Taking a virtual tour by satellite of your beautiful country and your cache caught our attention. Wish were were there to enjoy the scenic view and reply with answers. Thanks for letting us visit.
In Eden doing water drop support for 4 scouts who are doing the Light to Light hike in Ben Boyd National Park. It was nice to have a cache in the park and what a spot to have one. The view was magnificent and how the bay was greated was interesting. TFTC.
Wow what an awesome spot. Was driving out to see the sights but did not anticipate these views. Have sent the required info to the cache owner, and photo to be uploaded. TFTC.
6069 + 699 = 6768. Found while doing a trip down to the Green Cape Lighthouse region.
I really enjoy doing Earthcaches ! You always learn something and visit interesting areas. This is certainly up there for views and interesting information. Info gathered and sent off to the CO. Hope I get a "Pass" mark. Thanks VKC1SR !! A Favourite Point from Me !!
TNLN - TFTC !!

TaurusSix and I enjoyed our drive out to the lighthouse near here and stopped here for our 1400th cache. Logged in anticipation of verification.
Made 2 visits here in 2 weeks... Forgot to bring the questions the 1st time so I took photo's of the sign boards but they were to blurry to read... So I had to come back again 2 weeks later, for another viewing... But the scenery is deffinately worth it... Thanks for bringing me here...
Grrr... Not happy... Was here on Monday and because I didn't have the questions, I took a photo of the sign and thought I would work it out later... The trouble is that I must have moved and my photo is blurred...

Thoroughly enjoyed the view from here. The beach reminded us of a similar view overlooking Wineglass Bay in Tasmania.
The road in was a bit bumpy though. I think we've travelled over better 4WD tracks.
Took: Nothing
Left: Nothing
Thanks VKC1SR for the cache
