Apologies for the late log, we have just come back from a 10 day holiday in SA and Western Vic and spent as much time with family as possible so no time for logging lolWe are on holidays in SA and have spent the past 4 days catching up with JMelbs family in Adelaide (and only found 2 caches during those 4 days!!) Today (30/9) we checked out of our accommodation with the intention of finding some local caches then some of the Wandering Heroes caches on the way to Karoondah, our destination for the night. We had lunch at the Train Park at Tailem Bend and and then set off to do the Wandering Hero Caches, We found about 15 of the WH series but time was getting on so we decided we should make our way to Karoondah and check in to the Caravan Park. We then set off to find caches around the town of Karoondah and this was next. We collected the info for this one as we wandered around doing other caches over the afternoon and then calculated the final. We found this one after a bit of a search, just as it was turning dusky. Find # 14320I'm in the Adelaide area for the Great Leap Forward event. Not just for the days event, but making it a week long trip of caching n catching up with mates.Flying solo......Day 8. Homeward-bound.Day started off with a tree climb and a big stretch off the ground. Then a bit of a look around Mt Barker. Then it was the trails. It's been a while since I've hit a long trail and being alone it was just me and the caches to fill the rest of the day in. Some power trails are tougher than others, ie parking locations and barriers can be annoying and chew up time. But happily I managed all hurdles. Even the odd orb spider that made some tracks mazes. Happily that what I'd pland out fell into place with only a couple of DNFs.End of day was a surprise with my biggest solo grab of over 300 in a day. But I have plenty more trails in SA to utilise if I want to better that score TFTC team mono

.Day 7 of our Great Leap Forward leap year Mega trip of 2024. Traveling today with GLISS! Always wonderful to be travelling across the country enjoying the amazing scenery and caching along the way. Main focus for this trip has been to tidy up the last couple of counties needed in Victoria and make a serious dent in the South Australian ones. Plus a few days in Adelaide enjoying the mega fun. A hot dry trip this time around. Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches so we can enjoy the game.

We decided to make a day of it before and after the "Come Climb CP's Tower" event.

A successful day, with 29 finds for Goldy and 31 for Goose. With 1 DNF.

A lot of interesting history to be learnt in this town!

After a most relaxing couple of days on the Proud Mary cruising on the river, it was time to track down some caches.

The plan is to grab caches in the last few LGA for me to complete that challenge.

I stayed the night in the Karoonda tourist park in one of their eco cabins, Meteorite, so I could make an early start. What a neat little set up, perfect for a couple or a solo traveller
.
Before hitting the sack I gathered the required information, including walking into the cemetery in the moonlit night to find a tall headstone!! After solving the final coordinates it was time to call it a day.
Early start and cache was in hand.

Borders are open (sorta) and Christmas is fast approaching so this can only mean one thing, WATBAC returns to SA to spend time with family and friends. This can also only mean one thing, that a caching day out with my geomum, Doctor Owl, was long overdue and very much needed (because apparently I am not great at finding time to go caching otherwise). So I sent a text to let Doctor Owl know that I was in town and Doctor Owl let me know that she had some maintenance to do on some of her Wandering Heroes caches. Perfect, there are a lot of them that I haven't done (in that I had previously only done about 10). So off we went...

Doctor Owl had the details for the final location from a previous outing so we punched them into the GPS and off we went. There was some debate about which side of the fence the cache was on but we soon found it. The bottom of the inside of the container was a bit damp but otherwise everything is fine. TFTC.

22-Dec-21
Owl's geodaughter WATBAC was in town and this means caching! Owl had maintenance to do and an ever-increasing Wandering Heroes cache list to find so this was an obvious choice. A hot day so they took it easy and didn't even come close to finishing. However, the maintenance was done, WATBAC did her 700th cache and a good day was had by all. This was on the countdown for the 700th and a cache that Owl has been working on for 7 years! Nice to finally get all the parts finished and have an excuse to come and get it.

Caching with the JAMS crew finding Wandering Heroes caches. We ended up finding over 300 and hiding 2 more. We replaced a lot of containers that were broken. We had a few showers of rain early which were getting us wet but they didn't last too long and it ended up being a nice day. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches.

We spent a couple of hours driving to Karoonda and grabbing any Wandering Heroes caches that have been published since our last visit and then completing the caches including the Lab cache around the nice little mallee town.
We loved the beautiful artwork on the silos and were very impressed by the facilities around town.
The playground and Pioneer Park are very impressive for such a small place.
We visited the waypoints to collect the required info and soon had the cache in hand.

Many thanks for this multi team mono

After driving DPA down to, but not around, The Bend I set about finding what I could find in the surrounding area. Firstly it was off to Sherlock to finish off, again, The Great Detective series. Then north to Karoonda for the AdLab there and all Karoonda physical caches. Then down to Tailem Bend to fill in time until DPA needed picking up. Ended the day with the AdLab, 32 physical caches and no DNF's.
Thanks to team mono for putting out this cache for me to find

A plan was hatched with Rapidlywild to attack some of the caching trails down in VIC/SA. With the boarders slowly staying open we thought Easter might be a safe time to try since the QLD boarder was still too fragile to attempt going to the MEGA and it also looked like it could be rather wet there.
Our team “The Mob” consisted of GoodLook, LíB, Rapidlywild, The Drovers, feathertop and ourselves. This team ended up being very productive and some new friendships were made. Always a bonus in my book. All logs were stamped with “The Mob” to save space and time.
After completing all the trails, we had set out to do and a couple more for good measure it was time for this mob to go its separate ways.

After deciding to bail from doing the wandering heroes we looked on the map and noticed the ROTF trail. So headed out early with Rapidlywild to see what they were like. Weather was lovely and overcast and besides gaining a passenger being a rather large huntsman at one of the caches the trail went pretty smoothly.

After finishing off the ROTF trail we meandered our way back to Loxton collecting random caches of interest.
Quick find at this one after working out the GZ

Thanks for the hide team mono and for the fun Rapidlywild

For the first time in a long time, it was road trip time. With COVID-19 keeping everyone at home for so long, the borders were finally opening and the feet were itchy for a decent caching trip. Plans were made with FurfacesLL to do a 10 day road trip across to Mildura and Loxton to do a heap of caching and we were excited. Across the 10 days we racked up over 4,300km in driving, multiple hotels/motels, brought home enough red dust to create our own sand pit in the back yard and collected over 1800 finds between us. It was a massive trip and lots of fun was had.

We teamed up with GoodLook, FeatherTop, The Drovers and LiB and signed most logs as "The Mob". There were a few caches which were signed as individual team names as some teams had already completed said caches, those will be noted individually.

Our target caches were the Turtle Series, the Paddle Steamer Series and the On Ya Bike wherigo Series, heaps of other caches were also collected along the way but our primary target caches were completed which made us all very happy and very tired geocachers.

With the Turtle done, the PS Series done, the On Ya Bike done, the TdU & TdF done as well as the Riddlers done, our targeted caches has been accomplished. With the teams now split and it was back to FurfacesLL and myself, we had heaps to choose from. Yesterday we did some Wandering Heroes caches which were time consuming. Today we chose to head further south and do the ROTF series instead.

Picked this one up after finishing off the ROTF series. A nice easy multi in Karoonda with a nice simple hide at the end. No issues with the find, signed and replaced.

Thanks for the hides team mono Big Grin And thanks FurfacesLL for a trip to remember [^].

Today fitzy_1965, two geo-kids & I moved camp from Murray Bridge to what turned out to be Renmark instead of Loxton.

23,095. Found with minniek during our Post-Christmas escape to South Australia.

This trip to South Australia was on again off again due to the changing circumstances in the various states we had to travel through. Finally getting a green light from all 3 states we headed off early boxing day. Day 12 of our adventures took us from Murray Bridge to Renmark - caching along the way cherry picking on the Wandering Heroes series and completing the OTD May series. All caches were found quickly and in good order unless otherwise stated. Next find of the day. A quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, and then headed off to the next one.

Thanks team mono !!

Out and about camping and caching. Was a nice walk on a cold day. T.F.TC

26-May-20
Found on a trip to the Riverland with FeatherWaite.

It was nice to be able to finally get out and about again for a few days of travelling, camping and caching. We were lucky with the weather, with mostly sunny days, relatively warm temperatures and no rain to speak of.

We targeted specific caches and areas and found a good selection of traditionals, multis, puzzles, letterboxes and a wherigo. Most of the containers and contents were in reasonable condition, although we did have to replace a few.

Surprisingly we didnt come across any many other people on our travels. Perhaps it was just a product of where we went, or maybe people are holding off for the June long weekend.

This was a nice, straightforward multi that didn’t take long.

Thanks team mono for the cache.

Today we formed a small team to tackle a section of the Wandering Heroes series between Loxton and Karoonda. It was an early morning start today, and the four of us, FeatherWaite, GoodLook, @gridge98, and I, agreed to stamp the caches with a 'thumbs up' emoji stamp to save room in logs and for our ease. It wasn't a bad day to tackle this series, with blue skies and the sun out allowing us to run in/out and look for caches. Some may argue it was too good of a day to be stuck inside a car for half the time. There was a bit of banter in order to take our minds off the significant number of cache finds for the day.

This cache was collected and stamped as a byproduct whilst driving the Wandering Heroes series, and it was an interesting tour of the town. The cache didn't take long to find, and the container and contents were in good shape, cheers team mono.

A great little adventure around town to find all the information and with a quick check, had the numbers, we managed to come up trumps with the correct answers.
We found your cache tucked away nicely, though a little wet, with signing duties done and dusted we replaced the cache as found.

found with jacknor. Came up today to find my newly published wandering hero's cache and stop at the puzzles and if time do the multi's as well. This was almost bypassed since we in the middle of a dust storm and the thunder storm is right behind it. I didn't want to get 1/2 way through and then get drowned finishing it. quick find at gz.

sir_spectre wanted to get this one since he is chasing multi's for the SFE multi challenge. Found before the rains came in ( by about 15 minutes ).
sir_spectre wanted to come down and find his wandering hero's cache. He invited me along for the trip. We stopped at the puzzles and did 1 multi before the dust storm got worse and made driving down to 60 km's for a while before making it to his cache. Then the thunderstorm hit and it bucketed down with rain till we drove back to the lost hero's trail and we completed that with almost no rainfall. quick find.

Another weekend and Mrs Gizmo was once again dragging the male team members out caching.
Having recently completed OTD May and the Oz Mega & Signal geo art, she now has her sights set on the Wandering Heroes.

Today we drove to Karoonda with the aim of filling in some gaps in our Wandering Heroes map and also finding some other nearby caches.

This was find number 9 of 19 for the day. After lunching at the Karoonda Bakery we had fun visiting the waypoints and gathering the information for this multi. A quick find was made at the calculated coords.

Ismartis and I decided on a day caching some of the Wandering Heroes and a few extras in her quest to reach 3000 finds and to put down a new cache for another Wandering Hero. [^]

We started off from Tailem Bend and headed to Karoonda and beyond and had a great day managing 77 finds for me Smile and 4 DNF's. Sad

Cache # 115 of 221 for this long weekend.

The Parrot was on a roll to try and get closer to the 10, 000 mark as this last 500 seems to be taking forever.
Unfortunately the knee didn't hold out and I had to retire from the field.
If you have stitches in your knee you really should cover them over before pushing though bushes.

I had a fantastic time cashing down some trails that have been in GSAK for far to log,

I worked on the Oz Mega, OTD, Geopets and Wandering heroes series over 2 days.

A nice break from the trail .

Travelling today from Berri towards Murray Bridge. Decision made to leave the house on wheels and the cat at Karoonda then backtrack to collect some caches with comparative ease. [^]

The weather was turned on at a magical 25degrees and sunny. We saw lots of rabbits and goannas out enjoying the sun too.

We did not realise that the Mindarie-Halidon Races were on or what a big thing they in fact are. Wow so many horse floats, cars and motor bikes heading to the one spot! Razz

Great day caching and visiting some great caches and some truly historic and informative locations. We also managed to knock over a few more of the Wandering Heroes caches too. Wink

Shame the Caravan park at Karoonda is closed until November at the earliest so be forewarned if you are thinking of heading this way in the next few months. Twisted

Took us ages to find the cache here. Were paranoid we had the wrong co-ords but as usual quitters luck and the well covered cache turned up a few metres from GZ.

Suscoe headed out today for a long day of caching in the company of Phetlern to both the south and north of Karoonda.
We had a great day caching, chatting and fun with Pheltern.
After a very quiet night out here in the Mallee area we were ready to take on this challenge.
All up today we were able to reach 150 finds, a very satisfying number.
Our logs were signed in our fast mode with "S and P".
We had decided to do these caches in safe mode with an outbound and an inbound order which ended up to work pretty well and mostly avoided the worry of crossing the road.

Thanks to team mono for placing this cache. An interesting tour and it showed us the other side of the town. Karoonda is a nice little town, very neat and tidy and friendly.

Day 4 of the Oz Mega Event, and I was heading for an overnight stay in Bordertown. The day included a few caches around Murray Bridge, the Lost Wanderers series, and some of the Wandering Heroes caches that had arisen since I last cleaned it out. And then there were some more down to Coonalpyn. Sorry for the generic logs - there were just too many to log individually. My thanks to team mono for the cache.

One Family - 10 days - 2600 kms - Oz Mega 2014

Bound to Oz Mega 2014 in Murray Bridge over the Easter weekend, we left the Saturday before and camped along the way going along the Great Ocean Rd. We stayed at Apollo Bay, Port Fairy and Mount Gambier before getting to Murray Bridge. We managed to pack a fair bit of local tourist attractions in getting a number of caches along the way before getting amongst them in Murray Bridge.

Saturday we left home and headed down to Torquay, checking out some local sights, before tackling the Great Ocean Rd in earnest. Some of the highlights on the way down to Apollo Bay included visiting Bells Beach and Erskine Falls.

Sunday we packed the tent up and grabbed a few local caches then headed to visit the Cape Otway Lighthouse and Otway Fly before heading through to Port Fairy.

Monday bought us some magnificent weather as we made our way to Peterborough, discovering all the natural wonders along the Great Ocean Rd until the 12 Apostles where we headed up to sample some local cheese and chocolate, yummo!! That night we ventured to Tower Hill for some night caching.

Tuesday we made our way to Mount Gambier visiting Portland and Cape Nelson, hastily making our camp before watching the lunar eclipse over Blue Lake.

A lazy day afterwards ensured our batteries were recharged as we packed up early Thursday morning and drove straight to Murray Bridge, setting up camp under the watchful eye of Gonefishen07 where we tackled Fruit Loop and a number of night caches.

Good Friday we headed up to Borrika to grab some of the unfound Wandering Heroes caches and visiting our own to show Campbell. The evening meal was nothing short of spectacular with a roast enjoyed by all as we relaxed around camp (some calling us heathens for eating Lamb).

Saturday saw Trent, Gonefishen07 and Lazzal head to Loxton to finish the rest of the Wandering Heroes, whist Katy, Campbell and Zobo04 went shopping in town, coming home and making Loom bracelets for all and sundry for a price!!! The highlight of the night being the fireworks show provided by Team Crackers!

Sunday saw us head in to Adelaide with a bunch of other cachers to grab a virtual and webcam cache. Heading back to Murray Bridge, we attended the flashmob and CITO, grabbed a few more caches enabling us to complete 12 different caches in a day!!!

Monday we bade farewell to Murray Bridge and the Oz Mega and ventured home saying our farewell's to the new caching teams we met over the four days.

After we unpacked the camp spot and got everything set up for the weekend, made some lunches and dodged a few showers we headed out to grab a few caches along the Wandering Heroes that have populated the area after our visit last June. With Gonefishen07 and Zobo04 on board and Lazzal following we set about grabbing around 30 caches before heading back to camp to cook a couple of legs of Lamb for dinner.

Thanks for all the CO's for placing these caches!!!

We pulled into Karoonda & parked the caravan in their lovely little park. Then went off to find a few caches near by.
We don't normally do multi's when we are travelling but we had some time, & a short tour around town led us to our final destination.
Thanks team mono for placing this cache.

9am at Wandering Heroes ... The Honour Roll and Clare007, Mrs Burtons and I had only a few moments to wait before the McKee Clan turned up.
Then Gizmo's Gang arrived and off we headed for a full on day of caching! Smile
I managed to locus cache 99 caches by the end of the day as I had been here to play before!
Congratulations McKee Clan on your huge 180 finds, really amazing considering you had 3 children in tow! Cool

Our last cache for the night and what a way to finish before Clare007, Mrs Burton's and I crawled back to the Karoonda pub to shower and then rest our weary bones in bed, after having had a lovely meal there a few hours before! Smile
I had not managed to get this multi last time I was at Karoonda so it was great to get the guided tour of the town and finish the night with a non WH cache Cool
