#4934 - 12:45; Our week in New York was drawing to a close and we had checked off most of the sights we had on the 'to do' list for this trip. Going Coastal’s NY-NJ Harbor Estuary EarthCache Discovery Trail in Liberty State Park in New Jersey was on the 'to do if you can get there' list on the recommendation of a caching mate back in Australia who had been here before. I was happy that I was able to make it over the river to walk the trail, although the temperature in excess of 90 degrees F made for a hot one. This was the fourth stop on the trail and we were getting closer to the harbour now. Not quite like the beaches back home in Australia, but a nice quiet spot, pity about the rubbish and pollution . Gathered the required information and email sent to the CO for the OK. TFTC Going Coastal
Next visit on the walk around the area. A great walk area on a great day. E-mail has been sent.
Thanks for another one Going Coastal....

We saw the Liberty park; habitat (birds, caterpillars of Monark etc...) it was a nice visit. thanks
fenced off, but we still were able to do this.
wish we could have gone farther to clean up some of the debris on the coastline.
thanks for the schooling

Oh come on. First you ask me to draw things, now you're asking me for colours. Trying to make it hard for the colour blind! Hopefully my educated guess is correct on this one.
It takes time to decide on the direction of the tide. Waves on the shore make it difficult to tell. So I pick a landmark in the water and watch for a while. As it slowly disappears it becomes obvious than the tide is coming in.
The geese look really fed up. Don't know why but they aren't happy. I, however, am happy, I'm enjoying this walk.

We found that earth cache on our US-tour. Due to the rain not so perfect, but interesting.
Many thanks to the owners.

See my log for Liberty Enlightening (GC2T1KZ) for a discussion of my approach to this series.
Earthcache #6 of the series complete! I got to see the snow geese playing (or fighting) on the beach as I was gathering the information. Thanks again for such a great Earthcache series!
With such a beautiful day what better to do than to visit LSP and get some caches. Had a great time. Mosquitos were very active. TFTC
On my way to Cape May, NJ from NH to visit the folks, for Dad's 81st and mothers day! Was able to score this find on the way down! Will send the answers over the next day. One at a time. The devestation of sandy certainly has influenced the area. I spoke with several park rangers and they are not sure when things will fullyreopen! Thanks for bringing me here! TFTC, ponil
Visiting the area from New Hampshire with Preferida, Kballsey and Team Salford on the return leg of a five day caching trip that covered NY, NJ, PA, and DE. Many thanks to the folks from Going Costal for placing this series for taking us to both of these unique spots, and for the great educational lessons. We really enjoyed it! Answers wll be sent soon.
was able to nab 25 earth caches in one day which is a feat i had never thought possible. visiting the area from NH with 3 other caching friends; TFTC's and nhtravelers5 has sent answers to you
Had a very nice time visiting this area and enjoying looking for several earth caches- just stellar! NH Travelers submitted our answers for us. My thanks to the CO for the work put into creating these. My apologies for the very late log!
Well the tide is out right now. It looks like it can go no further. There is a lot of sand around not on the beach as Sandy did her thing in this area. TFTC
Finally had time to find all these Earthcaches. Awesome place. Thanks for the many geography/geology/history lessons.
I was genuinely pleased and surprised to see how very little trash lined the beach here. Wind was beginning to pick up as the sun continued its climb in the sky, but otherwise the weather was looking good for a continued walk around Liberty State Park.
Another visit on my EarthCache day tour of Liberty State Park.
It was very windy today and I didn't see any birds along the shore. I enjoyed this location, and tried to take a couple of pictures until my camera blew over! LOL
