Quickly found-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --French version below-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --Short late log but more complete now that we are back home. Our vacation will take us to the other side of the world to the land of the Maoris. After many, many hours of flying, a passage through China on the way there and through the United States of America on the way back, we will finally arrive in Christchurch which will be the starting point of our journey. We will enjoy the beaches of the Pacific Ocean and we will go back towards the North Island via State Highway 1. To combine business with pleasure, we will take regular breaks and small detours according to the caches that seem the most accessible to us.With a little more than 3500 km in 20 days, we will have discovered many facets of this island which is soothing. We will have to come back because there are so many places that we have not done . In broad strokes, the path will go from Christchurch to the Kaikoura Peninsula then towards Picton for the crossing to Wellington.New island, new road, and by State Highway 2 we go towards Hastings and Napier. We will leave the seaside for several days to go to Tongariro and Taupo. We will continue north towards Rotorua and Hamilton (without forgetting a detour via Hobbiton ) A detour to the Coromandel Peninsula and finally the almost north of the island with Whangarei and Waitangi to learn the history of this country. There will only be a few days left to spend towards Auckland and its suburbs before taking the plane back to the grayness of our European autumn. The majority of the boxes will be found, we have abandoned those where our English was lacking and where we could not understand the clue. Thanks to all the owners who brightened up our path, who took us to incredible places (that's also geocaching)In short, we had a great vacation, saw beautiful places that simply ask us to come back. We learned a lot about the history of this country and its traditions, it's a great motivation for our destinations.-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --Petit log en retard mais un peu plus complet maintenant que nous sommes rentrs la maison. 30-Jun-24
We had planned to spend the long weekend in Blenheim but came to Kaikoura after gk discovered this bike ride with loads of bumandworker caches on it. We are keen to find bumandworker caches as they are being archived often without the need for that to happen.I met an older man at the top as he was heading up and by the time I had been to find the cache and walked back up the track he was just heading back down. He was one of the only people I saw out walking this morning.I was regretting wearing so many clothes by the time I got back up to the top of this track. The cache was an easy find thanks to a very clear hint, love it when they are like this, less chance of getting muggled while searching. The cache is wet but the write in the rain paper is totally useable so no worries. Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

The track was a little slippery after all the rain last night. I didn't see anyone else while I was on it, so no muggle issues.

I little workout from the bottom of the track… lots of steps, good for my fitness levels and a test of my dodgy knees. Great placement with a good deal of thought going in to this one. Lovely walk through the bush listening to the birds. TFTC

Used the hint and recovered quickly. There was quite a bit of water in the container but fortunately that rainproof logbook was easy to complete. TFTC

Heading to Wellington from Dunedin. Staying overnight in Kaikoura. Had time to enjoy the area. After tea went for a wee stroll around which of course included passing a few caches.

Headed back to our accommodation along this track. Nice we climb. Cool hide. Thanks

18-Jan-21
With a little time to kill while the boys were on the skate park I thought I would attempt another of the wee tracks around here. I wasn't sure the GPS would settle under the trees but my fears were unfounded. A good hint for a clever house meant a quick find. I see what you mean about the stones and had to clear a couple that had fallen in when replacing the cache. Back down the hill to meet the boys and time for bed. Tftc

25-Dec-20
Christmas Day walk around Kaikoura in the drizzly horizontal rain. Shame we missed the views but perfect conditions for muggle free caching! Lovely little reserve and clever cache. Log was too soggy to sign and a bit crumpled up so took the opportunity to leave a clean logbook i'd been carrying around for ages.Tftc Smile

15-Nov-20
A cool hide. I think I didn't find this one earlier in my caching life.

Probably the last find for the day, back to the Lodge now for a shower and fresh fish

05-Oct-20
Out and about in Kaikoura, not far from our motel. Kaikoura virtually deserted at 7.30pm on a Monday. GPS spot for a quick find. TFTC.

12-Sep-20
It was a beautiful day today but the recent rain had left its mark as the track was very muddy and slippery.
Once at GZ we made a quick find and loved the clever camo. TFTC.

11-Sep-20
(# 5994). Day 2 of my South Island odyssey. Today is getting caches from Blenheim to Kaikoura. The weather was decidedly average with mainly light drizzle interrupted by heavy rain. It's the first time I have driven along the coast since the earthquake. I can now appreciate the carnage that occurred. Even how much the seabed rose around Kaikoura. A quick find after a nice little walk. Everything in order. TFTC

30-Aug-20
Nice walk and a quick find here - well camoed! TFTC!!

29-Jul-20
Easier than our last find but still a good challenge! TFTC Smile

17-Jun-20
I am spending today caching in and around Kaikoura. Finding a bunch of caches, old and new. This is my first visit to Kaikoura since the earthquake and it looks like it's been nearly 10 years since I found any caches here. That's a long time between drinks! The weather was stunning today. Blue skies and warm, my car said it got up to around 20C today. Very warm for the middle of June I think. Anyway, I had a great day so thanks to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining their caches. As I was approaching from above I had to reverse the logic of the hint to find the cache. All good here. TFTC, Biggles.

08-Mar-20
Walked from the beach up to this one. A pleasant shady walk and quickly located thanks to the helpful hint. Thanks b&w.

Out for an early morning walk. A quick find here. TFTC

16-Feb-20
Nice little hide TFTC

13-Feb-20
I literally used to live within 200 m of this cache and I thought about getting it many times but always left it because I thought I'd need a close to home cache. Well today is the day to get it, so I made my way up to GZ along the very pleasant path and made a quick find. Only the fantails were watching and they were pretty excited by the insects I stirred up. All in good order here. It's great to tick this one off. Tftc.

09-Feb-20
Found as part of a group and now continue on my own. TFTC

09-Feb-20
GPS bounced around for a while but when it calmed we realised we'd walked to far but walking back it was a quick find and a cool design. Thanks for making and placing the cache!!

06-Feb-20
Enjoying a short break in Kaikoura. This cache was a quick find along a rather nice track. TFTC.

01-Feb-20
#7762. I have a meeting in Blenheim next week so decided to add a few extra days to the trip and rent a car so I can pick up the Marlborough TMGT caches. So flew over early on Saturday morning and heading south today to do the Kaikoura section of the tour. Its a nice day but lots of fog and haze around on the trip south although it was sunny and warm on the Kaikoura Peninsula. After doing the TMGT hilltop cache I headed back to the car and then noticed this one was down a path near where I parked the car. So wandered down the meandering track to GZ. Nice quick find at GZ. Signed the logbook and returned the cache where found. Thanks bumandworker for the cache.

26-Jan-20
Number 17 and the last find of the day. A bit footsore after 12km or so, from the bottom of this track where I parked. Not far to go now. So pleased it's an easy find and in the shade. Stones scattered... they said I'm going to befall a big sleep. I'm sure that will be so. **TFTC and the series. Really enjoyed it, especially GC2T505 for which I’ve given a Favourite.**

Quick find. Thanks. It's a little bit damp inside

03-Jan-19
Found with NZDi. This morning I stirred as NZDi got out of bed and must have dozed back off because when I woke again an hour later her car was missing and she was nowhere to be seen. I sorted out something for breakfast and was half way through it when she came in the door after a walk in the Wither Hills Farm Park and said 'Rattle ya dags, we're going to Kaikoura to do some caching'. While she showered, I cleaned up breakfast and ran a couple of Pocket Queries, the route to Kaikoura (slim pickings) and everything within a 15km radius of Kaikoura. That gave us a fine selection. While I had my shower, she prepared a picnic lunch and we headed out the door around 8.30am.

This was our twelfth find of the day and this time we took the right option by approaching from the bottom. There was nobody else on the track today and as we approached GZ I started looking for somewhere matching the hinted description. It was an easy find because the previous finder had either replaced the cache as he found it, or had totally ignored the hint in the worse possible way. The cache was exposed for all to see sitting on top of what should have been sitting on top of it.

A QEF SWaG (Short Walk and Grab)

Today we made a walk around the penunsila and on the way we searched and found some Caches. it was a woderful day with sunny weather and warm. We enjoyed the tour. Now was our tour nearly on ist end, the box we could find quickly.
Greetings from Germany and tftc!

11-Oct-18
Heading north on our first grand family road trip. The plan was to head north to Auckland and then tiki tour our way back to Christchurch. Back on the Mainland and we headed to Nelson to visit friends for a few nights. We were now in Kaikoura for our last place before heading home.
We had just been at the school playground and heading home for some dinner and I had DNFed this 5 years ago and had another crack. My phone/gpsr must have been on crack that day as I was wayyyyy off. Easier find today when you are in the right area.

Thanks for the cache bumandworker.

Thank you for the cache!

----------------
Visiting New Zealand for three weeks. After hanging around Auckland for a few days it was time to head south! Early morning flight to Nelson, a walk in Abel Tasman National Park with camping in Torrent Bay, then back to Marahau and a ride to Kaikoura. A short ride to Christchurch, then two rainy days in Dunedin and Invercargill, before beautiful hiking in Queenstown, Wanaka and Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park. West Coast was tricky as expected but not too wet, then a rush to Picton to explore the North Island for a few days.
