After cooling our feet at WP1 we set off for GZ. A nice easy find where two black cockatoos were yakking away to each other . . . or at us! TFTC Wombat-1, a tragic story about water safety.
Went out today to do a few more of the caches around Port Macquarie. Such a pleasure caching around this scenic location and with this great variety of caches. The beaches were well populated with school children learning how to surf.
Thanks to Wombat-1.

A bit of a scramble over the rocks to the plaque, from there a short walk to the cache. Such a tragic story. Found on a caching day with Jamie2750 while visiting from Sydney. TFTC
Found the first Waypoint easy but then had to read it. The ocean wasn't too bad today so we could get to and read the plaque easy. Went off to the cache and it was found after a small search. TFTC
1615 GAFF1 DNF, and GAFF3 find (about 8m from 'GZ') Terrain for WP1 2 today.
Seems Landcare have spent a lot of time in the area recently and I was seriously wondering if they had cleaned up the cache as well. But all was good.
Left ziploc bag for logbook
TB, coins, and shirt thru

A little tricky find as the required calculations couldn't be seen via the geoapp. Had to go to the website then cache was quickly in hand. TFTC.

My son went geocaching with his geograndparents and signed the family name for this one. Thanks Tyler. I remember the terrible day that this happened. I still don't let my kids swim at this beach anywhere except between the flags here.
T.F.T.C and the reminder of beach safety.

I tried this a few times today! First thing in the morning the tide was right up the beach. I left it a couple of hours, but there was still a lot of water around where I wanted to be. Just before lunch I tried again - and it was fine.
Collected my information and did the sums.
A very sad story.
Thanks, Robmc.

Worked out co-ords for this one yesterday but weather stopped my hunt for the final location. Today I had the log signed before the car had even stopped haha x] TNLNSL. The Eyles Crew
Visited this location today & I recall the incident as clearly as if it was only yesterday. How can we ever forget that fatefull day.
Thanks for reminding us how deadly the sea can be.

I managed to get out to the plaque this afternoon without getting my feet wet, but I certainly wouldn't be complacent about the natural threat of this cache, and feel the Ratings are quite appropriate in the circumstances.
Anyway, worked out the GZ co-ords, and they proved to be spot-on! TNLNSL.
TFTC, Wombat-1!

Ran over to this cache from 'Max Dupain'. Is a sad story behind the plaque but it made possible for a good multi cache.
Did the math easily but tok us a bit longer than expected to find the cache. Nice finish to a good multi. Our 2nd multi for the day. TFTC thanks for the run along the beach

Happy Boxing Day
This one had us puzzled for a while as the clue related to many of our surroundings
Half an hour in Seaeagles1997 and I had cache in hand

Tide in too far and very rough didn't want to add to this areas terrible statistics so didn't attempt.
Think a warning about the tide should be at the top of the description.

After reading Yella Belly's comments I thought I would make one of my own.
The 3.5 terrain rating is an average. On a good day with a low tide and calm surf it could be a 1.0. On a high tide with an angry surf, the plaque would be unobtainable.
As I put in the comments, please take care with this one. As numerous people have commented the sand moves heaps in this area and as I have stated be wary of this location.
It was only two weeks ago that a man retrieving a ball for his dog, walked out along a sand bar in knee deep water had the sand bar disolve under his feet. He was washed out to see in a rip and drowned.
A note to all... PLEASE TAKE CARE...

Well this is another wierd one.
I went out to the cache location three times in the last week and marked the waypoint each time on my GPSr. Now I have two distinct sets of waypoints some distance apart. One lot from the last week and the other lot from a couple of weeks ago when I put the replacement cache in. I hope that these new coordintes and their associated calcs bring people to the correct location finally...

Turned up to do this cache today with no gps and no smartphone, I wasn't too worried as according to previous logs having these tools would only give me a bum steer anyway. I decided the best approach was to get close to gz and think like a cacher. In the spirit of the cache I did go and read the memorial plaque and from there it was off to find the goods. I got pretty lucky because I was signing the log after a short 10 minute search. After finding the cache I spent a bit of time watching a whale play in the sea not more than 300m off the beach, this is a great place to live. Many thanks for the cache Wombat-1 a really top location.
Found at 1.00pm GAFF3 in the company of lighsaberlodge at a distance of 96 metres! Gosh Wombat-1, you certainly know how to make a multi difficult for us poor battlers!
After reading the sad story and learning of the owners involvement we headed off to search for the plaque. We worked out the formula and immediately we thought that we had mucked it up as we were taken way up the back streets which looked very improbable. So we started to follow a line that we thought was right only to find nothing after 30 minutes. Then we met up with LSL, who promptly told us that the value for "U" had been altered from what we had! Now when did that happen?
We then joined forces with the new co-ords, but again nothing after 20 minutes. We then split up and the girls and Luke headed one way while the guys the other and within a few minutes we get a call from the girls - "we found it!" They did very well finding it at a distance of 96 metres away.
Thanks for the adventure Wombat-1, but you may have your XYZ's and UVW's mixed up!

on the way back from a geo-placing tour of the Hastings, geohusband chipped in with lets find a cache. The only one left on the Port-side of the highway was this multi. checking the logs on the drive to the beach we found some adjustments from the CO.
Here we have to admit to our second drive-by for this cache.
Whilst geowife was suffering the effects of geohusband's windy mountain road driving and stayed in the car to do the 'maths' the boys headed off to climb rocks. After deciphering the clues and progamming the Garmin geowife joined the team. Geohusband said, look I understand you have the co-ords but there is a lady in a bright pink top looking like a cacher, lets follow her!
As it turns out we meet up with p-pprass and c-pprass and had a joint adventure.
After a few attempts as one large group we parted ways, and wise Luke chose to team up with the girls and climb and scamble up the beach whilst the boys headed the opposite way. [^]
Thinking like a cacher c-pprass located the hide with the aid of the force and claimed bragging rights.
Okay, after all that hard work we needed a great cuppa and called into the fabulous pprass cafe on the way home

I went out again this afternoon to check on the cache in it's new location. Took a couple of new GPS locations to get a better average and modified the maths accordingly.
Take care and best of luck with this one.
The new location is not too far from the plaque.

Couldn't find it today, after nearly being swept off the rocks, I finally got the date but my gps took me on a wild goose chase out to Kelvin grove will try again tomorrow
After the previous cache was taken, I have relocated the cache container into an area that there is less chance of it being muggled as well as changing the maths involved in finding it.
Take care and happy caching.

Found final location today; we have been wanting to get to this one for a while. Followed clue but couldn't find cache. We will try again another time but this one may need maintenance.
I went out cheching caches today. And after reading the post from freshjc I thought I had better check this one out as well. It was only six weeks since I had looked at it last.
It appears that landcare has been in the area and done a massive amount of poisoining. The location where the cache was situated is now totally clear and the old covering has been spread to the four winds. The cache itself is gone.
I am disabling this until I get a new cache container organised, and will need to amend the clues to point to a new location that will have less chance of being found by muggles.

Checked out the site after speaking with LHBFan.

I thought it a good idea to check this cache in light of the extreme weather and king tides (I went on todays low). The cache is still in good order and dry.
I am going to change the terrain rating however because there is no sand left and anyone trying to get to the plaque WILL be waist deep in water even on a low tide.
Dependent on what the tides are and the rips are doing this could now be dangerous...

A touching little tribute. Met a local and he told me the sand moves so much in the area that the plaque on one of the rocks was once under the sand. Hard to believe and very interesting. I told him I had heard about the plaque and that it was what I was looking for. TFTC.
09:40 Got it after high tide made for wet feet to get to Bridie's plaque. I had to wait out two oldies who were basking in the sun on the lookout chatting about their children and their ailments, but I had a nice bask myself. I use Bridie's plaque as a benchmark for the much-changing sand levels on Beautiful Lighthouse Beach. Took Travel Bug MAD MULLET. TFTC Wombat-1
Found 6:50am. Picked this one up on the way to work this morning as it was virtually on the way. Headed off down where they put the camels on the beach untill I looked at the gps and it pointed north to 530m. Back in the car and a closer look at the map sent me further north along the beach. On approach I was thinking "this could be bl##dy anywhere" to myself. It was the right time of the day and the sun was brightly reflecting off the plaque....phew. Got the details and back to the car to work out. Didn't make it that far, as I saw a likely spot, couldn't resist and there it was
It was an absolutley beautiful morning down here, thanks for bringing me back to the beach for an "early" cache (surf, that would used to read). A truly tragic story too, I bet there was much dissapointment down here all those years ago.
TNLN cheers from the Browngang.
