Checked on cache and there's no sign of it.
As I'm getting a bit less mobile will retire this cache.

30-Oct-21
Had collected the info previously but there were too many horse muggles for an attempt. Today I couldn't remember if the coordinates in my phone included the projection or not so quickly gathered it again. Strangely, no horse muggles today on a lovely Saturday morning, and I was able to get to the cache, placed just as it says. The last (and only) signatures in the log are the signoid and taybeedragon from back in December 2019. Cache a bit muddy as expected but log nice and dry! Tftc

Soso wanted to go caching yesterday but to the caches here that we have done before so she could check out their swag. I said if we're doing that, we also had to do the multi so I could actually log a cache.
We had a lovely bush walk counting bridges. Worked out where the next Waypoint was. Once we got close we sat on a nearby seat to work out the final and off to GZ. There was a hint item close to my projection but no cache. Tried several other hint items nearby but no cache, only the bones of a small dead animal.
Checked my projection coordinates again this morning with satellite map and the first item we went to is there right one but no cache, although the grass is in places 1-2 foot long. Last year when we were here there were horses in this area but there are no fences now.
Thanks for a nice walk.

oops, was supposed to be a DNF...

EtherLady and I are in New Plymouth for a weekend away.
We've thrown the EtherKids out at my parents' place in Wanganui, and now we've arrived in the 'Naki!

Actually, today is go-home-day, and wouldn't you know it... the weather has finally decided to play ball! Typical [B)]

We gathered the required information on our way round the loop, but despite finding the obvious marker and projecting the waypoint, I could not locate the final cache despite finding a good location that fitted in with the hint..

Hopefully someone else can find this one to confirm that I was just cache-blind Smile

Today was dot day so I picked a good cache and as it turned out there was what looked like a good little walk with a few more caches near by. It ended up being a six cache mission of three types that took about ninety minutes and 5000 steps.
I was near by where we had determined the final to be a long time ago so I thought I'd have a look. This time though I took a different approach. I briefly tried one spot before making my way to a more likely spot after a short search I found the cache. Turns out last time we were at the wrong end but near a similar object.

We messed around a bit with this cache, but eventually confirmed there was a prominent feature at our mark point, and although our projection took us to a definite feature, we failed to find anything there.

12-Feb-20
Checked on 12/12/2020. The cache is still there but needs a new container and logbook.

25-Jan-20
2nd attempt at this. checked all my answers and redid the math. all good to market post and a fabulous view of the mountain. pity that nothing was found at the distance and direction of final. checked lot's of posts and long grass then went to gz on GPS but still nothing. I see this hasn't been found for some time. lots of hungry ponies have been at gz?? it has gone missing.

Taybeedragon and I were going to walk the 100 Aker wood clockwise, till I saw this here multi. A quick partial solve and suddenly we decided that Widdershins is the way to go. I just discovered a capability on my GPS - I can do a projection from a remote waypoint - I though I could only do a projection from my current location. Way to go Garmin!
Had a lot of trouble at the final, taking about 15 minutes to find the cache, but once we actually found it and I rechecked the GPS I found the coords were good, so why we were checking over 30m away i have no idea!

Day thirteen of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Today is wandering about New Plymouth. It's Christmas! Merry Happy Birthday everyone!!

Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit of a shame. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates Sad
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* Lots of cache maintenance!

***[======== NZ Mega 2020 ========](http://nzmega.com)***

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:

* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!

Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

Merry Christmas. Loving walking around this reserve. Grabbed the info at the start. Now off to the Dam. This one remained elusive fore some time. We searched for ages before finally getting the right spot to get this one tagged. Cheers. Now off to visit Piglet.

Day 13- Merry Christmas, Wednesday 25 December. Around New Plymouth again today.

The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

Had a lot of fun finding this one today. Such a beautiful spring day for a multi so we set out after school, parked up, gathered the required info then somehow picked the right track, more gathered info, a junction sign and some good looking coords to the marker. Once there though it took 3 attempts to find cache. I headed off in the most likely direction, had a search around then thought oh it must be up over there but had a quick re read of the description and figured out where I went wrong. Haha tricking me like that!! Even when we got to GZ I found it in the last place we looked. Was very satisfying finally finding it!! Log sopping wet and mushy. Photo attached of log. TFTC

We’ve walked these tracks a lot lately so we were pretty sure which one to take and we were right! Was starting to get quite hot searching around but was good when found. TFTC

22-Jan-19
This geocacher reported that the cache might be missing.

22-Jan-19
Checked it out while in the area having previously found it. GZ os a mass of blackberries and the cache doesn't appear to be there

22-Jan-19
Cache was checked and is still in place but becoming buried by grass. Did a bit of gardening to make it easier to spot.

15-Sep-18
I dnf today. I got to the pony club with coordinates but then go confused by the hint. I'll try another day

20-Jan-18
Gave this on a go after an unsuccessful troll hunt nearby.
Was maybe a bit to optimistic as my battery went flat about 200m before arriving at the marker.
Still with all the information gathered, I will likely be back.

I enjoyed this bush walk and tracking down the cache. The mountain had a bit of cloud obscuring its peak but it was still a great view. TFTC.

Re-visited familiar territory on a brilliant day, so enjoyed the bush walk on the way to GZ.Had to scuffle around a bit to find the right spot, but got it in the end. Luckily no muggles t wonder!

06-Sep-14
we had a lovely walk through the recommended way for this cache lovely walk. Its nice to engage with nature ,after some distance we found the right direction but we didn't mind as the scenery was very nice. We found the cache finally, and the cache was smaller that we expected, nothing in or out thanks for the cache.

05-Sep-14
Yay, finally knocked this one off. Helped Juty Bug years ago to complete this cache when first placed, but hadn't done it myself. Of course it's changed since then, but hint & logs helped to locate the cache fairly quickly. Done with Krystal Kath for whom it was her first visit to the dam. Apart from with JB, I've been here many times, this being one of Orienteering Taranaki's principle maps. TFTC.

The cache has been replaced - all dries out and with a new outer bag. However, a more waterproof container will probably be needed in the near future.

Cache checked. It was still in place but well covered by grass - probably because it's been a while since it's been found. Water has got into the container and the book was damp. It has been temporarily removed for a dry-out.

18-Apr-14
A fun cache which we found after reading the cache notes carefully plus a few hints from Cave Weta. A good walk to finish the day with. Cache very wet but exactly where it should of been.

12-Mar-14
Couldnt find this one. Is it still there? The coords took me to a certain post, but no luck

23-Feb-14
Nice walkway, alright paddock and a very unimpressive dam.
Not sure where we went wrong here but nothing seemed to line up as well as multis like this normally do.

01-Sep-13
No luck here for us today

Found on my fourth attempt. Made it harder than I needed to. TFTC

05-Apr-13
Should be a new log type that says "Finally Found It" which is what I did today on my third attempt... Thanks for this one... Wasn't really as difficult as I made it... TNLN TFTC

30-Mar-13
Spent 2 hours searching. Think i found the right post . Cache could have fallen to bottom?

24-Mar-13
This one really showed our newness. First time out we got as far as the sign and collected the appropriate numbers, but as it got dark we were unable to carry on. Second time out we had the GPSr run flat as we approached the second waypoint. Third time out we found the waypoint but it was too dark to get a proper bearing. Fourth time out we got a bearing but it turned out to be 20° out and we spent ages hunting in the wrong area. Fifth and last time was the charm. New batteries, plenty of daylight, proper bearing and straight to the spot. Signed the log, and left a small bracelet. Thanks for the cache, the fun and the walk, on which we found glowworms.

06-Mar-13
Found at last! Glad to finally find after 3rd attempt: all of which I have enjoyed. Tftc

22-Feb-13
Loved the area ,went down to the dam(both sides) for a look.Can see how it might work during heavy rain.All the ponies took me back 50-60 years to my pony club days SL, TNLN, TFTC

26-Jan-13
Checked location and state of cache - it's still there, and still in good condition.

14-Dec-12
Not sure where I went wrong here!

01-Aug-12
Cache intact - shame about the old location. Code placed.

18-Mar-12
The original hiding place is being demolished - the cache has been temporarily relocated by about 2 m until a more permanent spot can be found.Sad

17-Mar-12
well! I really thought I must be going in the wrong place!!!! It wasn't private property after all!
With out a compass it was a tad harder and a visit right down to the dam was at least interersting if nothing else! But will the hide survive the "man-interference' taking place around it? This was quite an effort all in all! but nice sense of achievement in the end!

Was in New Plymouth for work and when I finished I decided that I would pick up a few caches before I headed back home to Wellington. Arriving at the given co-ordinates it really didn't take that long to get the information at the start of the track and then off down the walkway, and after gathering the balance of the information I was soon on to the next waypoint after doing all the calculations. Arriving at Wapoint2 it was a quick projection and then a quick walk to the final GZ, after initially looking in the wrong spot, I soon spotted something and bingo there was the cache, what a clever little multi and was definitely worth the walk in such a lovely bushwalk that I never knew about, thanks for placing a cache here and for bringing me to this lovely spot, TFTC TNLNSL (4244)

Great, found on first attempt Left yellow truck, took lion Big Grin

26-Jan-12
Found the cache dislodged from its hidey-hole and fallen to ground level - replaced it and will add a note re positioning.

21-Jan-12
We managed to have a go this time, every other time too many people around and we didn't want to explain ourselves. So we did our deductions and and there is was. Good hide. Thanks. Never realised how many horses there were in New Plymouth.

10-Jan-12
Second attempt at finding this with johnyoung. First time did the maths wrong (in my defence it was after a night shift) and went the wrong way. With the correct bearing the cache was quickly found, though my GPS ran out of battery.

TFTC!

10-Jan-12
Went looking the other day but maths was a bit off Sad Worked out where we went wrong and found it. Took meccano key and left funny elephant creature with a dice in it.

03-Jan-12
Found what we thought to be the marker but could'nt figure second part and having no idea what a pepper tree looks like didn't help.

22-Dec-11
Found on second attempt. One of those caches where we were in the right spot, looking in all the wrong places SmileCheers

20-Dec-11
After a time of wonder I found it with a little help from a friend TFTC

18-Dec-11
Corrected instructions to get rid of typo.

FFTF!!!! Yay our First FTF.
Nice view from the top of the Dam,didn't know that was there.
Got a bit tricky with the F value that wasn't used & G value that wasn't mentioned in the clue....

We were a bit confused as there does not appear to be a value for "G". We did a logical deduction and found what almost certainly must be the marker but of the tree mentioned in the clue we could find no sign.

Long time loging, (no pun ment!) last way point easy, no compass for last clue, GPS not that flash, went by meters in the general direction, once we found the large peper tree it was an easy find! Smile
