Having been "muggled out" at my planned hunt by a couple of tradies having lunch, I return to "Sandy Central" for lunch myself. While I was there I observed the general location of this cache... so impossible that I won't even call it a "DNF"... the suggestion of "out of business hours" seems to be a good one. Another day... and time.

Spring Victorian Incursion 2024.Day Eleven: Bayside, Frankston, Dandenong.Weather: a bit of everything. I parked myself close to GZ for this one having spotted something that looked promising. Unfortunately a young couple were sitting right next to it. I waited them out, and then discovered that my promising spot was a dud, and the real area of interest was actually pretty much where Id been waiting. I moved back to where I started, waited until the coast was clear (quite easy this morning) and then struck like a viper. I like the large as possible philosophy, and dont think highly of nanos in the bush. Thanks for this cache gmj3191.

Nice, easy find on a lovely day. All in good condition. TFTC

I found myself driving up tonight and thinking to myself why is everywhere so busy..... oh yeah it is a Sat night of course, so with that realisation and my struggle to find a car park, I was soon around the corner, parked, and heading down to GZ. With a quick glimpse I soon realised where the most likely hiding spot was and after a quick look, the little treasure was revealed! Thanks for the cache and the little adventure.

While having some morning tea at a local cafe - we realised there was a cache not so far away. bunadoorian and I came here and started looking using the seat and my large handbag as a distraction. What a great size container to find here. TFTC and for bringing us here gmj3191.

Quick find in a really great spot! in Australia for our 50th anniversary. Hoping to get our 10,000 find over in this beautiful country. Thanks for the hide

This had the potential to raise dodgy looks but a casual sit and quiet enough evening solved that. Today...time for many things and one is the SOLSTICE souvenir rush. One is for memories of time near the beach and wistful dreams too. And one is for "casheering" as my dear mum Mollie would say. After fish'n'chips at Sandy's shop just up the road, taking a slow way home and enjoying the setting sun and chance to wander. Cache located in where directed and signed with no muggling issues. Thanks gmj3191 for placing the cache.

14-Dec-23
Found at 9:45pm at night, it was nice and quiet so didnt have to worry about muggles. Had a nice view of the Christmas tree. Definitely need to feel this one out!

14-Sep-23
This is such a cool clever hide! It's just brilliant! So out in the open in front of all the muggles, it really tests your retrieval skills. We managed to successfully complete the rendezvous mission without drawing attention to ourselves. This is a fantastic hide! Thanks for placing this cache here gmj3191

Came to look for this one but we were surprised at the amount of muggles here even a cold windy day.
We sat for a while but see we had no chance of looking.
We will return another day, perhaps early morning before the shops open.
Thank you any way gmj3191.

This is such a brilliant hide and quite unexpected considering the location. Steve found it quickly, then it was a case of choosing the best time for the retrieval. It’s a busy place, but as we watched the locals, no one was watching us and the cache was soon discreetly in hand. Log signed and placed back as found without anyone being the wiser.

Great cache gmj3191. Thank you.

With geodog Tonka on a perfect caching weather day
Driving to Melbourne from Port Lincoln to visit my son and had a few picked out on the way.
This was a bit tricky. Muggles every were. Thought muggles were sitting on it at one stage so took a seat and Cachly made its sound that I was on it. Happened to sit right on it.
Sneakily put my hand down to retrieve. Stamped on the back of the first page to save realestate
Then while everyone was watching dogs have a fight I replaced it

The last cache of a delightful day in the company of my beaut hostess Let Them Eat Cache.
Just before she let me out at the Sandringham Station to catch the train back to the city, she told me there was one more cache I should find.
It was unexpected to locate this larger than expected cache in such a high Muggle suburban area.
Thanks for placing it there to end my caching day on a high note.

08-Jan-23
Very sneaky hide, so cool. Made easier by the Vesper parked In front of me, blocking the view of any muggles while I retrieved the cache

08-Jan-23
TFTC, good clues and a beautiful area. Nice easy find and cache was placed back in the same spot as we found it.

02-Jan-23
Nice hide, fortunately the public holiday crowd was pretty light so able to find and replace stealthily. Nice tree too! Tftc!

Not too many muggles about and none looking at us. Quick grab and restore once the hide was located. TFTC

A tricky find as we had to watch out for muggles and fortunately the size of the cache made retrieval somewhat easier tha trying to hunt a micro.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for placing this geocache here for us to find today, for without those who like to hide geocaches, there would bething around for those who like to find geocaches.

After a late night first to find with n0w0rries I decided that on the way home I would have a crack at this in the hope that being later in the evening it would be clear and easier to make the find. How wrong I was. Even around 10pm there were people all over the place. Luckily immediately around GZ was clear so we to a seat for a slow casual look while talking to n0w0rries. I was lucky enough to get a hand on the prize and extract it from the hide without anyone seeing.
I can't imagine how hard this would be in a peak time.

Thank you gmj3191 for a bold hide

I grabbed this cache today and found it straight away but struggled to get it out of its hiding spot. I also struggled to put it back in but that is fine. I logged my name and continued caching.

Much stealth needed for this tricky little one. I sat myself down on the bench and enjoyed the cool breeze while waiting for the perfect opportunity to get the cache.
Once in hand I signed the log and carefully returned it back. I am glad I came at a good time. During the daytime peak would have made being undetected difficult.
Thanks for the cache.

Found 7.26am
Staying very local for the long weekend this cache was difficult to grab with lots of people just sitting around with nothing better to do but watch us. We spotted the cache on our first day but today was the first chance to grab it and sign the log.

TNLNSL Thanks for placing a good size cache for us to find.

In the area today for a geocaching event and thought, seeing it was a public holiday and it was quite early, that it would be early enough to grab this cache before the Locals came for their morning coffee or breakfast.. but no .. they are obviously early risers… no one cast a glance in my general direction so it was a quick find. Thanks gmj3191 for placing the cache .. Oh and the coffee here is great too!!

This was about the time my phone went flat. But we still had Mrs Papi’s phone to work with. Had to use expert stealth mode as we sat and watched the passing muggles.

Drove passed this one earlier on the evening but too many people around with the cafes/restaurants.
Came back near midnight, in the rain so thought I’d be safe to search.
Didn’t count on the train and bus adding muggles to the area so had to interrupt the search a few times.
In the end I didn’t find it so will have to come back another time.

Melbourne is currently in a Stay At Home situation.
If you found this cache within walking distance of your home, go ahead and log it.
This is within the bounds of legitimate exercise.
If you found this cache by driving to it, you're interpreting the rules to your own benefit, and not the community's. You should not be travelling to exercise, and interpreting caching as exercise is a long stretch anyway (pun intended).

07-Jul-20
First day back at work today for awhile and thought I’d grab a cache to celebrate. This is a great sized cache in what would be a a busy muggle area during the day. Thanks for the cache. Off to the grocery store now and hopefully people haven’t gone nuts panic buying again. Left a travelbug.

Great one! Went at night pretty easy!

30-May-20
Tricky one to find!

11-May-20
Re-enabled as Covid-19 restrictions are eased off.

28-Mar-20
Disabled for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis.
Although exercise is ok, beaches, parks etc are gradually being closed, and we are being asked to stay home.
The possibility to transmit the virus by surface contact exists, so why take chances?
At the end of the day, geocaching is a game, and we are dealing with a serious Public Health issue.
We need to get our priorities in order.
I believe the responsible thing is to disable all my caches, until the crisis passes.
Thanks.

Wow, now this cache was unexpected!love seeing such a large cache in the area! It's a pleasant surprise. Replaced edit was found, a little closer so it is in reach! Love the variety in the area! Fav point for me!

Out with all 3 geo kids, FoxyLoxy, SowaMLE and Snook after dropping hubby off in South Yarra for a night out.

Our last cache for the night after finding a few on our way home. I've been meaning to come here for some time but somehow it just didn't happen. I wasn't sure if tonight being a Saturday night was going to be the best muggle wise being in a very busy central area. We took a chance and attempted it anyway.

We found a parking spot nearby and sussed out the muggle factor. Not too busy at all. Perhaps the night is a bit young and this area doesn't liven up until later.

At GZ, SowaMLE makes a quick find. It was rather easy to not look suspicious here with 3 kids providing a distraction/decoy/cover to what I was doing checking the contents of the cache and signing the log. Returning the cache was also trouble free.

Some pretty flowers in pot plants over hanging from a seating area outside what I think was a pub or some sort of cafe. Not many patrons as yet.

The kids and I liked this one a lot for its size and so bravely hidden in such a central muggle area. It gets a fav point from us.

Thank you for the cache here gmj3191

Came here on a Saturday midday, so the area was quite busy. But luckily there was a Ferrari standing close to the hide, so people weren't paying much attention for what I was doing ... Thanks to the car owner for the distraction and thanks to CO for placing and maintaining this quite big cache! TFTC and greetings from Austria!

Coords spot on so that assisted in finding this fab urban container. I was reminded once at the station of a train overshoot incident back in 2011. You can see the repaired brickwork of the bank from the end of the platform.

This cache has been on our list for a long time. but it's a challenging spot to search in considering how busy it is around here. Good Friday was a perfect day to look for it though, and Mr Squalid found it. Great hide, thanks.

Cool cache...
Took ages for muggles to move. So went and grabbed lunch for GeoSon and myself. Came back and new muggle had settled in... arrrggghhh...!
All good, new muggle finally left and we could sign the log, visit 2 TB and depart.
40 mins from sighting it to getting it out and signed...

Came to Sandy train station to wait for GH (GeoHubby), & after several previous aborted attempts (too many muggles, too hard or out of sight), I finally had success! There was a lull between trains arriving & waiting parents/partners, & my GPS was behaving, and BOOM! Success is sweet. I replaced, so that the next geocacher doesn't have to dislocate shoulder to reach, but just out of sight. Thank you Geoff for this surprisingly 'large' cache. Loved finally getting a smiley face.

GeoWife & I have only lived in the area for a short 4 years, but boy do we love it. Sandringham line & station are a great service, but never did we think maybe some of those people milling around the station might be stealthy looking for a geocache. Well, not til beginning of this year (2019) until we were introduced to geocaching. Have been past this point many times, but it was never quite right, what with lots of muggles coming or going, cafes & shops close by, passing traffic, you name it. But GW was happily waiting for me when I disembarked from train, and admittedly she'd already found it, but signed log & replaced without any disturbance. Nice hide gmj3191!

Melbourne Day 4: Sandringham and Brighton

Nice sunny day today, so I took the train down to Cheltenham and cycled my way to the beach, picking up whatever caches that I encounter along the way. Very nice and big caches along the way here, which made the hunt very pleasant and enjoyable throughout. I am looking out particularly for the Archibald caches which I have solved beforehand and a few nice multis along the beach. Very scenic views and good fun all round! Thanks for all the caches!

The following is the specific log for each cache:
Cute little spot for a cache. Wandered around the fairly quiet town centre and spotted the cache peeking at me from its hide. Got it out, signed in and heading on back to the coast. TFTC!

"International Earthcache Day" - a check for our closest unfound earthcache. Great, just 36kms away! Ahoy me hearties - way across the bay!
After attending the "Come and Visit Parkville Nov 2018 - Mordialloc" Event, this is one of a variety of caches we found as we made our way back to the other side of the bay.
A favoutite - very sneaky end to the day!

Thanks to 'gmj3191' for placing this cache on the geo-gameboard.

We've recently been on a road trip from Hobart to Adelaide, and are now on our return journey. Today, we're travelling from an overnight stay in McCrae, to our final accommodations in the Melbourne CBD (we'll be back on the ferry to Tasmania in a couple of days).

Along the way, we stopped to have lunch with a relative in Sandringham, at a little cafe not far from the beach. Our daughter was keen for a visit to the nearby playground, and we spent some time gazing over the water, watching the yachts go by.

Finally, it was time to tear ourselves away, and continue on our journey. But of course we couldn't leave Sandringham without collecting at least one cache along the way!

We knew we were looking for a reasonably large container, and upon reaching the GZ it was fairly clear where it might be hidden. Sure enough, it was quickly located by feel, right were we thought it might be. We were still surprised with just how big it was though! We definitely prefer that kind of cache over the micro or nano you'd usually find in a place like that, so thank you so much for taking the time to find a way to hide a larger container.

TFTC!
