Highly populated area today on this sunny lunchtime weekday. Cache was easily in hand. As others have notes, there is no physical sign anymore but we went there and then used the description to help us answer. The second co-ordinate should be E(ast) not S. Geology and history are cool! Thanks for maintaining this cache.
Today is a multi dot-day, so I decided to head out this way to find the nearby multi and five others in the vicinity. That was yesterday when I was making those plans and today, on the train to Mana station, I realised I actually planned to get more than one cache! This is big. I had been working a streak for so long that I had developed a "just one is enough" mindset, and I have been trying over the last six months to get out of that. Seems to have happened at last.I got off at Mana but I almost wanted to stay on the train. There was a large family (great grand mum said she has 28 grand kids!) . It is 2 year old's birthday, and he loves trains so they all came out for a train ride. It was loud and fun. When I got off the train with my bike I yelled a "bye everyone" and got a big bye and hand waving from them all. Was so cool!In preparation for these multi dot days, I have solved a number of multis (more than I need, actually) and visited most to confirm I had the right coords. I had visited this one but that was a long time ago and could not remember what the site was like. But I remembered when I got to GZ. All good here.I have seen these dragon's teeth in various places, but it was this cache that actually taught me about them. Many thanks for that, gets you a fave.Another multi dot-day done, just... 8 to go!! But that is all the way through to September. In the end I did not collect two of the caches I had targetted. They were regulars and I am also working my regular dot-days. I'll save them for later.
I'm staying at the Ngati Toa Domain area for a couple of days, so thank you for taking me on this doggie walk.A treasure for exercising locals on a Sunday morning. Now I must go back to view the Dragons Teeth.
Day caching in Wellington and Mana/Paremata area. #19 Quick multi, lovely location. TFTC trancer96
Paid this a visit as the new owner to remind myself where it was. I was surprised to remember the exact the location where it was hidden pretty well. Still has the original log which, while serviceable is getting a bit manky these days. I will likely add a new log in the near future but keep the original one in there for prosperity. For now, everything is okay.
Apart from the missing physical signage, the puzzle is very straightforward for anyone who can read the description. I'd lost count of how many times I tried for this one. Anytime I would pick up a cache from the Kiwi Geo Trail series, I would visit here to have another go.At first, I would go to the dot on the map that pointed to the shore side of the track.I would sometimes search down on the shore, thinking it may have fallen down there.I couldn't find it there, but I did see what appeared to be a Dragons tooth.Though I wasn't sure as it wasn't as big as the ones out front. But it was never gonna be there. It never was there, but behind me.I did try the other side of the track many times, too, but had been checking way too broadly rather than a focused spot.I had been doing this on and off since March, and I had been noticing others were finding it seemingly easily. Now it's November, and submissively, I gave into a PAF.When I got the hint, I was so disappointed I did not see where it was myself. I decided to save this for one of those days.Today, being a "kids out with dad" day and still needing a cache for the day, I brought Miss 7 and Miss 4 to have a go.They followed the dot on my phone and, of course, was on the wrong side.Miss 4 wanted a hint, and I said, Watch out for the dog poo lol... and try this side. They were right there at the cache but started broadening their search.Think the heat was getting to them and asked for another clue.So I pointed to exactly where it is.Still didn't spot it.Yup, definitely, Daddy's girls! lolWait a minute, said Miss 4. And she pulled out the cover. She held it up and said nevermind, just rubbish.I said, Keep going. But I think they weren't reaching in enough. So I pulled it out for them, and they gasped, lol.Signed and returned where found.Log a little damp but workable.Took Sleepys photo against the near barren lowtide, and coupled with the hot sun, gave an almost desert feel. Finally, I give this an FP. (Did you see that coming?)Why?Because this one stumped me good and proper which should be respected.Cheers.Sleepy was here!
#294. Another Multi I dabbled with back in 2014. Glad to locate this one without troubles. Log is wet but signable. Glad to have table to sit down on a few metres away from GZ to soak in the view and muggles walking their geohounds. TFTC.5 of 10 - 10 Days Multi Streak.5 of 30 - Monthly Multi Streak.
How fascinating! Enjoyed reading up about these dragons teeth. Worked out the coordinates earlier and thought I could try on my way back to car after an afternoon traipsing around Paremata. A pity the red sign is no more- spied some teeth near bridge earlier and knew exactly what they were - thanks for that!
Interesting information. Enjoyed the walk about the inlet for the find. Many thanks for the cache.
A recent find inspired me to have another look. This time the cache was a quick find. Don't know how we missed it before. TFTC
Walking the dogs before heading to the ferry to Picton after staying the the night nearby and we came to see if we could find the final for this puzzle hide - which I solved overnight when I couldn't sleep to see if GZ was nearby. Took a while and finally turned up the goods in the first place I thought it might be but my GPS didn't quite agree. Thanks for the puzzle and hide SAROC! Travelling through from North Auckland to Nelson.
I'm wondering the same as what Skyuni123 posted.
I wonder if it is a small slippage at GL, too

Solved this one before we left on our trip here and today was a cracker of a day to come find it. Had a good think once at gz and came up with the prize. Was good to find it as it could of taken awhile. TFTC #2300
Too hard today as no info on the sign to help. Another day we will be back to think again.
Cycled along the trail after work today, such a nice coast line. Quick solve and nice hide at the final, TFTC
Had another look today with Chels_j, who managed to find the cache in a place we were sure we’d looked before. That’s geocaching for you
Very happy to turn this one into a smiley
Much easier now the area has been pruned back. Dropped off a trackable.
Love the history of this one, and have surprised a few people telling them about it. Hopefully the sign will be reinstated soon

Solved a few weeks ago and wandering past today to collect some GeoTrail caches. Interesting cache, im glad we get such a awesome range of caches and information. Much appreciated. Log quite wet. TFTC.
Solved the co-ordinates, but unable to locate the cache. Interesting to learn about these dragon’s teeth.
After grabbing a coffee from the container, we had a quick look here. Admittedly not too deeply. Probably still here ️
While waiting for the rest of the crew to turn up we did what we do best...
Slight stumble was the now white sign but that's to the clever CO we have the cache in hand

A nice little multi didn’t take too long to get the final coordinates a quick find here signed log and replaced as found tftc an smiley
Learnt something totally unexpected when I solved this one this morning! A miserable morning, but still lots of joggers and dog-walkers around, so had to pick my moment. Log a bit damp, but no problem to sign. Tftc!
Very interesting information about the tank traps - we've visited this area (and driven past) numerous times before without noticing them. It is a shame that there is no longer a sign post to explain them but my youngest son noticed a small plaque on the ground behind one of them that has a brief explanation (and the cache page was very informative). We came down to spend the sunny day doing a bit of kayaking and playing at the beach and there was time for a short walk afterwards. Didn't take long to find the cache. It was very wet but still managed to sign the log book. We let the logbook dry out for an hour while we ate our hot chips and it is less wet now but still damp and could do with some more airing out. On replacing the cache we spotted a strange-looking animal nearby - turns out it was a rabbit with no ears! The things you see when geocaching! Thanks for the multi and TFTC
Thanks Hurricane Luke - And SAROC for placing this cache
This was a lovely straightforward multi - just the kind I like
Enjoyed learning about the Tank Traps and a nice walk to GZ. Co-ords were accurate and cache retrieved, signed faintly in pencil as I firgot my pen. Log is quite damp but would dry out if left in the sun for a few hours.

Found in the 2nd place we checked. Quite a bit of water in there and log book soaked.
Driving from Palmerston North to Wellington for caching day. Travelling on both islands for 22 days holidays. Unfortunately been searched for 20mins and no luck. By the way, lovely beachfront houses and the beach.

Thanks - Miss Five enjoyed learning about the Dragons Teeth, then we sought out the cache at the end of our family walk around past the boatsheds.
This one ended up being as difficult to get as a dragon's tooth. Tried a few months back when I was here for the mega event, but failed. Had a new attempt a few days ago and couldn't avoid the muggles.
Today, I came back. Grey day, high tide, so very few muggles. Except for one in the yard above the final!!! I waited till he was gone and swooped in, foraging in the bushes until, at last, the cache was found. What a great bit of history, tftc!

Today was the last official day of the Mega.
Plans were to collect as many puzzle caches that we had solved in the area plus anything else that came along.
Most of the puzzles were road side witch was extremely busy so parking in some cases were peoples driveways and balancing on road edges and some we didn't go for as they were to difficult to get to. Another day and we have to return.
Al in all a very successful day. SLTFTC

WENZ Mega Weekend is finally here... Our big focus for today will be to clear out the Kiwi Geo Art trail around the Pauatahanui Basin. We are expecting some challenges here - narrow roads and lots of muggles. With Gap (of Fap and Gap), NZFlossy, and McJandals...
Sunday: We were a little more relaxed today, since there were no pressures to be at certain places on time... After dinner and a couple of ales, it was back to the trail for some more punishment... One of our team had already found this one. Her input was extremely invaluable. We were able to derive the final coordinates, and find this tricky hide in the dark. TFTC.

Attending the mega with TeamBOP. Great time to catch up with other cachers and visit Wellington lLots of fun and laughs while finding lots of great caches Thanks to all the COs for providing all the caches and the work that goes into them. Sorry for the generic logs will try to add to them once back home Thanks. Excellent coords for final and cache a little wet but good
I mucked up the numbers to start with but soon had that sorted. We spent ages searching and would have given up if it wasnt for the fact I needed to get a multi today for a a challenge and we were running out of time. It was a last effort to find it, I figured it hadnt been found for 6 months, that's a lot of regrowth so I buried my head in the bushes much to the enjoyment of Nanzie who was busy taking photos of me (its usually the other way around) and there it was. No luck for me today. Rustled around in the bushes once the muggles were gone but I couldn't see anything. Thanks for the info about the teeth though, I'd never noticed them there!
Yippee found it after 3 attempts first when I was trying to get points to get me to Pluto but I still got there any way
Many thanks for what was a simple multi

A quick solve, but between muggles and searching took quite some time to find the prize. Had hands on it eventually, all safe and dry. TFTC
Thanks we are rushing for our points to Pluto
Didn't find but I am sure I had the right Co ords after a message from the CO

#3488 2 of 15 today.
Day 4 in NZ and I'm leaving Wellington heading for Whanganui, a 2.5 hr trip that I managed to make take about 6. Sadly I took lunch with me, so I can't blame it on an extended lunch break. The weather today was pretty ordinary. Grey with showers increasing the further up the road I drove. I stopped in various towns when the weather permitted and grabbed as many caches as I could. It's still raining here, but the forecast is good for the next few days.
I quickly worked out the final coords as the rain was getting heavier and headed around to where I though gz should be, but could find nothing. I decided to call it off due to the rain when I walked past a spot and said to myself: "that would be a better spot" and guess what I found there ? I was right and so nearly missed it.
TFTC SAROC.

I looked and looked for this a while back but with no joy. I was so focussed on one potential hiding place that I overlooked others. When I checked the terrain rating I realised that there was no way it was where I was looking and the cache was quickly in hand.
Out with RosalieNZ and found this cache just before the rain arrived. All very, very interesting and I wonder how many people know what the blocks represent, especially as the sign has now gone. Another reason for geocaching -the history you learn. TFTC
An interesting location and to find this one on a nice day was superb. Lucky we waited a day as the crashed helicopter was parked there after being retrieved from the inlet the day before. A nice walk around the inlet followed. TFTC
Quickly solved the puzzle before heading out for a walk. Never been to this spot before and enjoyed the sheltered walk. Nice easy find. Tftc
'Cheated' and solved this in car on way to Xmas event. Walked right up to cache!
Found with Wb1116 and the CO while attending an event in the area. Cache is in good shape. TFTC
#2762 - I checked the sign and there is no way that any info can be discerned from it. Thankfully the info is very clear from the image on the cache page - thanks SAROC. Final coords were a quick solve and then a short walk ot find the final. These teeth would certainly slow any mechanised advance - history shows us how well they were used a little over half a century ago. We now see their big brothers all over the place - large cube blocks about three times the size making our walk/cycle to caches that much further!
Met up with CO and he popped along to do some maintenance, so as you can well imagine all is well at GZ for the next finder.
Thanks for the multi and my second cache of the day (my first physical following the nearby drive by.

We left home early to cache the ferry over and wasted most of our day just getting to the North Island. After a very long day traveling we quickly had some dinner and headed out to get a few Kiwi Geo Trail caches. We had solved this at home some time ago when I planned our route so we could go straight to GZ. Mum was onto this one quickly and found the cache before the GPS had started counting down. This is Day 1 of hopefully an 11 day Multi cache streak. We picked up the coin/TB in the cache. Thanks for the easy Multi/Trad and the smilie
Thank you for sharing this piece of history with us. A peaceful meander to find this cache. Nice to just sit and watch the bird life. TFTC Picked up a Rattll rock which is always a bonus.
A nice area around here. Quickly located the cache. Left Havelock North at 5am this morning picking up jordiporsche on the way. An overnight stay in welly to grab as many caches as we can including all the kiwi geo art puzzle's. Log signed as b&p.Tftc Hurricane Luke - Adopted by SAROC. Find # 3213
M9 in TregearP's and my journey on 10 multis on 10 consecutive days.
This one was straight forward - or it should have been. Got the information and headed out to the GZ. Parked across the road and decided against taking the GPS as TregearP had her phone and was "all under control". After walking round the block on the Southern side of SH1 I started being a bit more strident in my requests for distance and bearing.
Soon we were in proximity and after a quick search the cache was found. All in good order - TNLNSL & TFTC.

Took a rather circular route as we had some time before testing out a few kayaks near by, information was retrieved from cache description but found the examples of the teeth on both sides of the highway. Cache all in good order at GZ, logged and covered up. Day 9 of 10 M's in 10 D's
Interesting artifact. Got the wrong coords initially and found I was standing in an area with no reasonable hiding spot. Rechecked and went straight to it. Found at night to avoid muggles.
Found it during a stop in this area. Interesting history about this.
Thanks for hiding the cache!
Thanks for hiding the cache!
One thing I love about caching is how seemingly ordinary objects can come alive with some knowledge you didn't have before. This is a great example - seemingly innocuous pieces of concrete with a deep history and meaning. Thanks for pointing these out and for a nice hide at GZ.

A quick, easy find once the GPSr had settled. I've seen many structures like this strewn around southern Britain where the threat of invasion was obviously much higher. I hadn't realised the extent of defensive works in New Zealand until I started caching here. Thanks for filling in another piece of history.
# 388. Solved this last time we were out here but couldn't pick up due to muggle activity. This time, the coast was clear and a quick find was made. Great to learn about these Dragons' teeth. Think I saw some more along the Hutt River trail too? TB out. Tftc!
When we met at the morning for our great trip to Mana Island I was really surprised to see dragon teeth here because I didn't know up to now that things like that were also built in NZ. In Germany you can see them quite often especially at the western border, the "Westwall". After returning from Mana Island I could not resist and heve to work out this little multi. It wasn't a problem to get the right figures and after a short walk I recieved the cache.
Thanks a lot for the interesting cache.

Sorted this one before leaving home, & stopped for a quick pick up after the "Mana Island" trip.
An easy find in a quiet little area.
Left a pet rock - a bee, & dropped off a TB

I solved this remotely earlier in the week, which was good because the sign does not bear any resemblance to what it should have been. A quick find in the first place I looked. TFTC
Solved coordinates but couldn't make the find because of muggles. Will hv to save for another time. However, the sign itself has seen better days... see current image attached. Luckily still able to work out answers by reading the cache description carefully....
A quick park a grab. TFTC!

#1871 After a wonderful day out on Mana Island and then a DNF at Marina View, we couldn't end on that note and made one more find. Hadn't even noticed these before so it was nice to learn something and bag another find for the day. TFTC!
Barnaby was parked up for the night at the domain and Mrs B had stayed inside in the warm while I went for a walk. Wanted to try for this one before I headed back for tea, though it was getting a little dark. The red sign is now getting very hard to read: no hope of reading the bulk of the words (that are luckily in the cache description), but it is getting a bit hard to read the important ones that gives the answers for the co-ordinates. We've cached at a different type of tank defence recently in the South Island, which made it more interesting to compare the models used.
Anyway, I could still read the relevant bits form the sign and calculate the answers so then set off on the short walk to GZ. One muggle lady walking two muggle dogs had me sitting at a picnic table until they had left the vicinity, then I went to search. Didn't take too long, but managed to step on a dog bomb that the lady hadn't spotted to pick up after one of the pooches. Sigh. Cache was fine, but my shoe required strenuous cleaning. Luckily there are some VERY smart loos nearby to provide the required paper and water . TFTC

What an interesting bit of history! I would never have guessed what they were, and in fact although I have passed here many times, I have not even noticed them. Thanks for setting up this cache, and in such a pleasant spot too. Worth a FP for the history and the view.
#968. Stopped by today to finish this multi. A while ago I worked out the coordinates (or thought I had done so) and ended up spending ages searching under shrubs uncomfortably close to someone's house. Only when I got home and looked at my photo again did I realise I had messed up the answers. So today with the correct answers it was a short walk and quick find in the first place checked. Logbook still dry. New plastic bag added as the old ripped one got caught in a wind gust and headed out to sea to became turtle food. Oh dear...TFTC and pointing out the "teeth" that I would have never noticed previously.
Aaah, third hunt of the day on a geowalk around Paremata-Plimmerton, but first success. Quick easy solve, and a quick find-and-sign at the final. TFTC.
'Twas a dark and stormy night. Well, it was the night following a stormy day. But it was dark and there were lots of puddles about.
I was disappointed to be unable to read the sign but remembered that this cache owner would almost certainly have put interesting information on the cache page for me to read later.
I acquired the required information, instructed my GPSr where I needed to go and headed off to quickly find the very nicely concealed cache.
Thanks for a very interesting caching experience. I am hoping this becomes the first of ten multi finds over consecutive days to qualify for a challenge cache. I need to find another find in the dark after work tomorrow and then, thanks to a week off work, the remaining eight should be a lot easier. Last time I took the challenge on I didn't even get to complete day two.

25 way-points spread over 15 kilometres of bush clad mountain ranges.... No wait a minute, this looks like my kind of multi. The puzzle was as easy as the walk and the find at GZ. All done under the cover of darkness this evening. Great bit of local history right there, thanks for making us aware of it. TNLNSL TFTC
It's been a month since my last caches found on the North Island so good to be back home for Christmas and doing what I love best; travelling to be with family whilst finding concealed items of 'treasure'
Heading North up S H 1 picking off a few pre-selected caches that caught my eye as quick an easy finds, mostly traditionals and none too difficult or time consuming (at least I hoped so!)
This was a cache that fitted the bill nicely and was indeed a quick and easy find once I'd got my Ts and Ws the right way round. My first final G Z looked like a quick swim (maybe find that kiwi in the harbour?)
Nice actual hide at G Z, should be safe enough thre I hope

Solved this on the way to the event but got my teeth into it afterwards.
Thought there might be a long list of finders but at the stage I visited that was not the case, though a few people were still at the event then on my way out of the area I recommended it to one cacher.
I lived in Paremata during my teenage years - rather a long time ago as any who knows me will be aware
and I had no idea about this history. I am intrigued because I have seen similar looking structures in all sorts of places!

Mrs Biggles and I had a planned weekend in the Wellington area and were intending to go to the event near here today. After finding a few of the nearby kiwi puzzle caches, we had brunch at the cafe across the road. I wandered round here via the Marina View cache and then had a look at this multi. No problem getting the information and then it was off for a short walk to GZ. Overshot by a few metres then spotted what I needed to see. Thanks for showing me these interesting historical objects and TFTC, Biggles.
