Since todays paddle got squashed, it was decided that myself and Duppers would meet up at Ewan Maddock dam around 11 am. I decided to head up a bit earlier and grab the other ones that she has already done around the other side of the dam. Im hoping to have enough time to cache and visit my father-in-law in the same trip.Quick find in a likely spot.I found your cache, Blackbutts on Ewen today.jasenjanine, TFTC, TFTH & TFTSF
Today, I strolled around another part of the dam, signing challenge caches. With time on my side, I headed to this part of the dam to find some more caches. This cache was quickly located and the log signed. Thanks to my caching buddy for the company today. TFTC
Without breakfast, and already hiking 5Ks plus, I needed to stop for lunch. After a pitstop at Mooloolah, it was a drive towards this cache and a few others that were on my agenda for today. I walked to this one first, as it was furthest away from where I parked.Arriving at GZ, the cache was found in great condition. I recorded the required information, replaced everything as found, and continued on, back towards my car and the next cache on my list. Thanks, jasenjanine.
Nice quick find for the Mrs today, thanks for the walk looking at about 15kms today
Tacking the Ewen dam hiking trail today to tick off some more cache locations. All caches were eventually found after some looking around and in usable condition, unless otherwise specified.. Thanks to the owners of the caches along this trail. It was much enjoyed!..
WallabyTim searched for this one as I waited with Zelda the Woofy Wanderer. After originally overthinking it, he soon turned around and made the find. TFTC
A rude awakening by a very early phone call meant it was time to continue our caching day. With an early start it means some early caches before we meet up with Willis007 for our bike ride assault on Ewan Maddock Dam. A quick brekky a pack up and we were on our way. We started from where we left off, collecting caches in the Caloundra area and working our way to Landsborough.
We set off riding around the dam collecting caches and signing logs. This place is awesome with some really quiet and beautiful areas. We found all caches around here today; some really interesting caches and a few ammo tins, (love an ammo tin cache). We even visited a couple of caches twice as we backtracked around completing the multis of the area. The puzzles were fun to do and between the three of us, we had the solutions to all. Thank you for the caches, we had a lot of laughs today and some good exercise on those hills. Thank you to my caching buddies for the day out, it was a fun day.

Heading to this area today to find some caches around Ewen Dam with chamad and Triple Turmoil. We headed around the dam on bikes, others were enjoyable walks.
The cache was quickly spotted, log signed and all replaced as found.
Thank you jasenjanine for the cache and for bringing me here.

Chamad and I decided to meet up on this lovely "getting closer to spring" day. We need to get 555 Sunshine Coast caches for a Challenge cache we collected last weekend. Let's just say I am a looooooooong way off. So we spent Saturday afternoon and way into the night collecting caches and so early the next morning that I am wondering why we bothered to go to sleep
This cache was one of the early morning ones. Our second day saw us on our way at 6am to meet Willis007 at 730 (which ended up being at 830) to ride around Ewan Dam. This ride was pretty challenging at times. Certainly got the heartrate up. Either by riding up a steep hill, walking up an even steeper hill or even riding down a steep hill at full speed. Lots of fun and lots of exercise.
Another clue for the final.

We think we found it?!! First time with miss 10 & miss 7, expected to find a container, that's not what we found so not entirely sure if someone could confirm, that would be fantastic for my girls. Thank you
Ok, FOUND IT! Definitely a container Phew, Miss 10 was losing her sh*t that we walked 7km to find a painted rock which was close by to this
Running around listening to the birds singing is glorious. Finding caches is fun. Getting exercise makes me feel healthy. A quick find. TFTC
Relogging found caches under the name Bonkersandshush to my other accountGAZKERSH.Thanks.Nice quick find while walking in the area Thanks for the cache
Out on a cycling Geocaching adventure with fellow cacher Seizer. A great day out but beware of the mozzies!!! TFTC
Found out in the open so
Popped it back in and covered with the obvious previous camo! Tftc

After accidentally taking a ‘short cut’ from the last cache we reached GZ in the glooming. Worried that it was getting too dark and the trees made the GPS bounce around a little, after looking where the GPS said GZ was with no luck, I kicked in my geo senses and had this soon in hand. So glad to get one up on The BFG.
My muggle friend Emma wanted to go for a walk and I suggested we come out here for a little 5km walk. We were so happy we picked here as it is such beautiful spot with lots of beautiful trees and paths. My compass was all over the place. I think it was the cloudy day so we used our geosenses to find this cache. Thanks for the fun . I was lucky to remember to get the clue. Nearly forgot
Our favourite pastime is having a nice walk in the countryside. We weren't sure what we would find here as there was a tremendous storm last night but it didn't stop us coming to look for the caches around Ewen Maddock Dam. The area was very wet, with puddles across the path and also fast streams in places. There were also a couple of trees that had fallen across the path so it was a case of climbing over them or finding a way round. We walked for over 5 miles and still didn't find them all, so we will be back.
Another quick find. TFTC

Started the Ewan maddock puzzle multi at this one. Enjoyed the walk alongside the horse ranch before turning in on the path. Thankfully the mozzies weren’t out today! Cache found in excellent condition . Took note if the clue and continued on our walk. Look forward to seeing more of this area. TFTC
A lovely walk around this area this morning led me to find this cache. All good here on to the next one. TFTC
A couple of medically-induced days indoors out of the wind and dust, so I was keen to ramp up a few kliks on the MTB My original plan to do the E.W.D. circuit was deferred but I came prepared to mud(dle) thru as many caches as poss As I pedalled down the main track the puddles got deeper and wider. At some point the track was impassable and so I veered onto the single trail to get uphill a bit. Any delusional thinking on my part about both the bike and me staying clean and dry went west Keeping up the momentum seemed to help with getting thru the thick mud and doable puddles and culverts. Sticking to the edge of the track and ducking branches also helped On the way back down the main track the water had dispersed and it was a comfortable pedal. Stopped to take a couple of pics from the dam wall I was praying for a cloudburst or three on the drive home, to rinse off the bike. Yup, the rains came in abundance but much of the sticky mud stayed put So hot shower and feet up with a after a muddy adventure along the lake trails. Bet it’s a spectacular trail on a dry day
Scooted down here spraying mud everywhere as I pedalled Actually did try and avoid the goop but not always possible. No probs here due to great coords. Dropped a trackable to rest in the rainforest.

No idea what a blackbutt looks like but I'm pretty sure what a cache looks like. It looks like this thing I'm holding while nikid1 is searching over there. Lol. A quick find and then we moved on to admiring the beautiful bottlebrush on the trail here. Thanks for the cache
The last day of autumn dawned with a crisp but clear morning, a great time to go ride some of the trails and clear up the unfound caches on the western side of Ewen Maddock dam, starting from the southern end and working north.
It's a great time of year to ride, with cooler weather keeping the heat bearable. The tracks were in great shape with only a little mud that was easily avoided. Plenty of other track users were passed along the way, either hiking, jogging, cycling or horse-riding. All of the caches were found, most quickly with a couple requiring a decent search before being located.
Clue noted for later.
---
Log signed at 10:37 and cache returned as found. Thanks for the smilie **jasenjanine**. This log is trackable.

This was my third of 12 finds this morning. Reached the spot from the narrow winding path to the south and made a quick grab, taking note of the extra info for the series in the container. Loving my first visit to Ewan Maddock. Thanks for the cache, jasenjanine.
We were following the well formed trail closest to the dam when it suddenly disappeared and was replaced by head-high reeds, mud, water and corruption. The map showed a trail but not even Indiana Jones would consider this fun. We had to continue because we weren't far away from our final cache of the day.
Mrs Woodyrothwell doesn't use the phone to cache. She just follows me, leaving me to handle all the tripping over and cobweb collection and when the numbers get low enough starts her search. It was only fitting that she once again came up with the find on our final hunt.
We had picked up all the caches I had put on the list and my wife had gone above and beyond the step count she needed for her challenge. We now have all the clues collected and will try to attack the mystery on our next visit. Hopefully by then my caching mojo will be back along with my shattered confidence. tftc

Clearing of a few more around Ewan today it wasn't till we got home that we realised we forgot to look at the clue.

Friday. Whilst Mr SP was out playing golf in the heat, Mrs SP headed north to Ewen Maddock Dam. In the heat...
I was on a roll now and finding some nice trails and paths that didn’t show up on the little map. Such a lovely area. This was a quick find and log was signed, cache replaced as found and details taken down for cache final for reference. Cache cover removed slowly in case any slitheries around today as it was very hot and sticky and in fact it ended up being a storm later in the afternoon. Such a lovely area in here and no end of trails to choose to get around. Bike would have been my choice of travel to get around to these caches, but I walked to get our collection of smilies today.
This was the 2nd of 6 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***jasenjanine***, for showing us this place.

We had planned to get some more smilies in this area ... And on Easter Monday not too many muggles around.
We kept on walking ... And mozzies weren't too bad (partly thanks to repellent). And collecting the missing clues for the Ewen Maddock Mystery.

Met up with CDAH55 today to do some more caches around Ewen Maddock dam. Some he had already done and some I already had done and a few neither of us had done.
We completed this by bicycle. This is the only way to travel. By the end of the day this Energiser Bunny's batteries had run out. We were two cachers possessed, no stopping for rests or for snacks. We don't have time for those things, like normal people. We were determined that we would complete what we had started.
Unfotunately we ran out of daylight, and will have to come back and complete 3 more. CDAH55 complained about saddle soreness, I told him to toughen up. Full of sympathy I am.
Some of the distances were misleading as it is "by the crow flies". Unfortunately we are not crows and cannot fly over water. I don't think my bicycle would have approved of going for a swim.
This was another of several today.
Quick easy fun find

Dora the Explorer and I had set a target today to gather the caches around Ewen Maddock Dam and it was decided that the best way to do it was by push bike. Some of the caches had already been found by Dora the Explorer and some had been found by me and some caches had been found by neither of us.
We succeeded in making it around the dam gathering all the caches bar three when light had failed us. The distances are deceiving as they are measured in a straight line. Some over water which we were not too keen to attempt on cycles. The next challenge was to determine which track to take when there are choices of many.
We had to back track from the previous cache to get to this one and after some decision making we ended up finding the correct tracks.
At GZ, the cache was found, the log was signed and returned to the cache and the cache replaced exactly as found.
All is good with this cache.
Find #691.

Good to get to this one. We found a winding shortcut trail that brought our troupe of three from the last cache on our run/cache day at the Dam. Clue noted. Will be back to get the rest! TFTC
Out today breaking my caching drought with mojo and poco yo. So many giggles. Thought the tracks would be more boggy with the recent rains. Thanks girls. Cache in great order.
I came across from the last cache towards this one hoping the track went through, well of course as luck would have it I got 130m out and water in front of me, impassable as a direct line, however as luck would have it previous intrepid adventures had faced the same challenge it would seem and soon I was following a not so direct trail, at least it saved the potential of trekking back to the main trail. The search did not take to long upon arrival and I was soon signing the log.

After finding a few other caches away from the water it was decided that we would head back to the edge of the Dam for the others.
Just walking along and chatting was a great way to pass the time and before we knew it, we were where we needed to be. After a little looking around, checking here and there, we soon came up with the goods.
After reading over the logs and checking out the stash, we put everything back as found.
Well, it has been a long time since ZooyDes got together and headed out on an adventure. We had to get the team back together and we decided that we would get out and hit up Ewen. It is surprising, as this is really the only place on the Coast that we can cache together and actually have caches that neither of us have found.
Thanks for the cache jasenjanine. All is in order here.
It's amazing what a good chat between friends and Mother Nature can do for the soul. As in isolation, Mother Nature keeps all of your secrets and listens without judgment.

Booyah Found it!
Met up with MinkosDes today to do some long overdue caching. We weren't going home until we found 100% of our finds and luckily we found all that we had set out for!
MinkosDes wondered off to a likely spot but I followed my phone instead and it wasn't long before i yelled "Booyah!"
Clue taken for final series.

I was staying up at Maleny for the weekend as a result of attending a wedding on my wife's side of the family. As part of the arrangements, I negotiated compensation, for having to suffer through the various events, in the form of a day of caching. The wife and daughter would travel up with her sister and I was free to roam the countryside on the way to Maleny, gathering caches at my leisure.
The stroll around Ewen Maddock Dam was my main mission for the day, so after gathering some other caches on the drive up, it was time to grab the walking pole and hit the tracks. After a previous DNF on this series this one was found safe and well and got me back on the front foot to solve the series. TFTC

Out grabbing caches with the boys & The Big Kids while daughters play with ponies nearby. This one had us searching for a while as the Gps was bouncing. Soon had our hands on it though Tftc.
Out with the Rattenbury Family grabbing caches. We've been slowly ticking off the ones needed to complete Ewen Maddock and wouldn't you know it? Forgot to grab the clue from the logbook! Argh! Will have to come back another day. Thanks.
Went the wrong way to this one. Although I notice in the previous logs we weren't the first ones. Found a small track which really tested the all terrain wheelchair that brought us back to the main track and were then able to locate it. Thanks for the little adventure!
We were out today walking along a few of the tracks at Ewen Maddock Dam and dropped by after solving a puzzle or two. We had gone down one track for a cache and kept going not knowing whether that was the right track or not to reach Blackbutts on Ewen. It probably wasn't but we did find a narrow track which took us through to the main path again where we had to watch out for the school kids doing afternoon sport riding their bikes along the track with their teacher. Gee, we don't remember having it that good when we were at school!
Once at ground zero, we found the cache easily enough and added our name to the log. Thank you jasenjanine for having placed the cache for everyone to enjoy.

This cache was a bonus today as we didn't think we would have time to get it with darkness closing in. Luckily we made it here as we found the cache out in the open on arrival to GZ. We signed the log and took a photo of the clue. The cache is in good condition and we left it in its hiding spot covered up. Thanks for the cache jasenjanine.
Great little spot off the main track. Found quickly in good condition. TNLN TFTC
