Not an easy place to stop and the cache was a bit further away from where I was expecting once we did pull in. A quick find made up for it. TFTC
Travelling down to Wellington via Cape Palliser for the second week of school holidays. Stopping for a few caches on the way. Quick stop here. Cache all fine. Thanks for the smiley.
Wandering in Wairarapa between Easter and Anzac day. Started at Cape Palliser and ended up in Martinborough. Found several hides along my way. This hide was one of them.
I had to wait for some workers to leave the spot. Easy find afterwards.

We are down around Pirinoa for a week and visiting a few caches amongst other things like The Pinnacles the Cape Palliser Lighthouse etc . we had been past this marae several times but finally decided to stop and get this ticked off. thank you for this cache
Over here for some r&r which always includes geocaching.

After staying overnight in the DOC campsite overnight, we explored the Cape Palliser area today and picked up a few caches before heading back to Featherston. Well into the return leg at this point. The cache was a quick find. #4013. TFTC.
A quick find for me today on the way out to Lake Ferry for an adventure. TFTC, Sorry for late log
Felt a bit odd parking in front of the marae, but the cache was a comfortable distance away and quickly found. Thanks post33.
Looks like there was something happening at the marae but we were far enough away not to disturb anyone. TFTC post33!
With the prospect of a nice long weekend available, I decided to spend a day or two over in the Wairarapa chasing archived Skindo puzzle caches and any other caches I would be passing right by including this one.
This was a nice and straightforward park 'n' grab. The cache was found in the obvious spot, and encountering no issues with the cache or the contents, I was able to swiftly sign the log before replacing everything exactly as found and heading back to the car.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, and Happy New Year to you.

#1253. Looked unsuccessfully in the obvious place, but then spotted the cache lying in the paddock. Hopped across the fence to retrieve, signed and returned under appropriate cover.

We're traveling round the bottom of the north island on a week away from the madness of our normal life in Invercargill (and to escape the freezing weather) we spent last night in Martinborough and we're taking the long way to Wellington today. A quick.find here today. TFTC
Trouvee durant notre voyage en Nouvelle Zélande ! Longue route aujourd'hui, on en profite pour faire quelques caches ! Pas de souci pour celles-ci !
Merci pour la cache !

Our first cache of the day as we travel on to castlepoint! Quick find in the obvious place. TFTC
Today started very wet back at our campsite, but by the time we reached here the sun had come out and it was lovely to stop and look at this marae. We’d have flashed by in the car and never seen it had it not been for the cache. Excellent.
On our way home we had to stop for this one. For anyone driving past we were just talking to the cows. Signed and replaced. Tftc.
We're on our way to the Cape today. It's Canterbury Anniversary weekend so JDScout and I organized cheap flights up to Wellington awhile back. We stayed at a friend's house in Greytown and have based ourselves there. Thanks post33 for placing this geocache 7939 find for me.
Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.
======== NZ Mega 2020 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. Thanks for hiding this geocache.

Today we went to Cape Palliser for enjoying this amazing spot!
On our way back we stopped for logging this geocache.
What a wonderful view all over this area!
Amazing what was created by nature.

Another road trip to the Wairarapa, this time to pick up caches for the Mystery at the Museum. I headed out to Cape Palliser as I haven't been out this way for a few years - before I started geocaching so there's plenty for me to get.
Managed to squeeze my car off the side of the road before heading over to grab the cache, which was quickly found. A group of cyclists went past as I headed back to the car, so I waited for a while for them to get ahead as I knew I'd catch up and then need to pull over right afterwards at the next cache. All good here. TFTC

Found on our way home from a lovely night in Lake Ferry. The tin of beans was a nice surprise tftc
After the 2018 WENZ Mega event
mr and mrs went on a Wairarapa tiki tour, and...
parked and grabbed this cache.
You don’t always find a cache with its own can of beans.

MEGA TRIP 2018.
As usual with the annual MEGA event, we partook in our annual MEGA Trip. However this year was a little different from others, with much more sleep and a little less time caching than usual, but just as much fun being had along the way.
The general goal for the trip was to focus on all the new Virtual caches published over the last year, visiting Cape Palliser (for the Southern most cache in the NI), and Castle Point, along with spending time at the MEGA Event. With this in mind hiring a campervan from Hamilton and seemed like the best way to tackle this goal, plus sleeping in a car with four people, would just be too cramped!
The trip was a great success, and our goals were achieved. A big thanks to all CO's for there hides.
LEG 3: Mega, Cape Palliser and Castle Point: Todays plan was to spend some time this morning at the Mega Event before heading off to Cape Palliser and then working our way North to Castle Point. Two places that have been on the to visit list for a while now.
On the way from visiting Cape Palliser Lighthouse to Castle point and finding a few caches along the way. A quick find here.

Well it's the WENZ Mega Weekend and a plan was hatched to motorhome (as we thought it would make a difference from sleeping in a car which is our normal accommodation method) down here in the company of HKCB, 11HPG11 & Alpenmilch80 and head for a few caches along the way.
As time was of the essence and we had planned to spend bugger all time at the actual mega but rather head for specific caches that we would otherwise not collect.
The record keeping for this trip was a total of 1750kms, (fuel = $450) and less than 100 caches, plenty of Beer & Wine and I still call it a complete success as we got what we came for.
After an amazing trip along the south coast it was time to cache back up to Castlepoint the next point on our itinary and enjoy the Waiarapa countryside.
thanks to all the CO's for whoom without this trip would not ahve been possible.
thanks for the placement

During lunch time on Friday I flew into Wellington from Auckland to meet up with some crazy Hamilton’s (11HPG11, Cats&Dragons & HKCB) to spend some time at the 2018 WENZ Mega and then driving the huge campervan back to the Tron.
After the night spend with a hearty meal and good drinks we refreshed ourselves before moving in the direction of the mega. Afterwards we left the Hutt to drive out to Cape Palliser. And now we are on our way to Castle Point collecting geocaches on the way. TFTC

It's Mega time! This year we decided to hire a motorhome and travel down in relative luxury, very different to the last few years. Our team this year consisted of Cats&Dragons, HKCB and later on Alpenmilch80, and myself, logs were signed as MEGAHOAC. We went on a bit of a whirlwind trip round the lower half of the north island, chasing virtuals, earthcaches and anything a little bit different.
An interesting little historic spot. Thanks for bringing us here.

Found while in Martinborough for a weekend of cycling around town on Saturday morning and then driving out to Lake Ferry in the afternoon for some sightseeing. TFTC
Was going to attempt this, but found ourselves on the wrong side of the road with no turnout there, and people going into the Marae. Decided to try again on a different trip.
Flew down to Wellington with some very keen Westies (Rebel98 and rustynz) from West Auckland. We 3 regularly go away for 3 days for caching adventures on very cheap grab-a-seat deals. We hire a car and stay in cheap accommodation.
Our first cache for the day, and gradually we're making our way to the airport, but first we have to do Patuna Farm and the chasm walk, our high light of the day this will be!!

We were returning from a fossil hunt (it's International Fossil Day) and stopped for this find as the weather turned from sunny and warm to windy and much cooler. The cache was in great shape and had our favourite swag (paracord from Marisa&Kaleb), so we swapped for a Little Shop. Thank you for bringing us here, we especially loved the white stone sculpture at the front of the building.
#4726. A sunny Saturday and I need to get my cache numbers up for the month. So decided another adventure in the southern Wairarapa was on the cards. So drove over here in the morning and after doing a few at the northern end of the lake, it was time to head south. Hadn't notice this marae on previous trips down this way. The cache was soon located. Signed logbook and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache post33.
I have a full day meeting in Wellington starting early on Monday morning, so I decided to take a leisurely route to it, via a two day tour of the Wairarapa. Booked me a cute little Airbnb cottage in Masterton and planned a route to an area that I have never been before. Left the Manawatu in the pre-dawn light to make the most of the day and it has been an awesome day, with springlike weather, and full of lighthouses, seals and of course, braces, powerpoles and caches.
Pulled off the busy road and had to pretend to make a phone call as the neighbour arrived home at the same time and the kid kept watching me. He moved on and then the lovely horses kept watching me. Found the cache quickly and had time to give a nose rub to each of the horses. TFTC

the weather is not great but its good for keeping other people in doors and helping keeping the areas muggle free while we make the finds, thanks for the placement it has been another great out over this way caching.
This was our 69.th New Zealand cache on our trip!
Thanks for placing and maintaining the cache.

I have passed by here many, many times without stopping. Today I was heading home from a night at Ngawi & the cache was a good reason to stop. The cache was a quick grab & all in good condition. As this find wasn't planned when I left home I had no swag with me. TFTC

Out with Loth making our way to Cape Palliser. Logged many caches on the way and we hiked through the Putangirua Pinnacle to see the paths of the dead. We also saw seals along the beach and rocks. Tftc!!
