Gone=burger! This has now disappeared twice since I took the cache over from Hurricane Luke. I've had a cursory look at an alternative spot away from the pesky Toyota dealer's fence but so far I can't see anywhere suitable. I'm loathe to archive this one because of its historical significance but it's looking a bit that way unfortunately.
#3144. I decided to come over to the Wairarapa today so I could find 30 caches as part of the requirements for the MGSc challenge. I had planned for a series of easy park and grabs out in the boonies on the back roads north east of Masterton. But just before I went to fuel up, I discovered much to my horror I had left my plastic cards in my jeans back in Wellington. So with just enough fuel to drive around Masterton and then head back home again I had to radically change my plan of attack for the day. Parked nearby and had a read of the cache page. Checked out the hint as well as it was quite busy with traffic. Once I knew roughly where I needed to search, it was a quick find. Took the container back to the car and signed the logbook. Replaced the cache back where found. Thanks for hiding it here and the interesting cache page write-up.
Extremely busy road this morning but managed to fix my lose shoe lace. Ha ha. SL TFTC
TFTC!
This was a quick find for us and a good chance to practise our stealth tactics! We took a googly eye and left an X (for explosion, for the tale of this cache). This is our new southern-most find, thank you again for placing it.

Quick find, prowled slowly along and spotted it peeping at me. Ended up dropping my GPS, it bounced along so was able to put Cache back while picking it up. Not recommended. TFTC.
Cache container replaced - now a small pill bottle. Contains old log, so all good to go again.
Thanks hi.steaks.
I have removed the log and bag and will return in the next few days with it in a new cache container, muggle activity on the car-yard permitting.

Thanks very interesting reason for the cache. As a fire fighter I know of the danger of dust explosion but had not rad of any in NZ
Have learnt about such explosions as a fire fighter but they always quoted overseas events interesting to find we also had one here
Quick park and grab. Hubby works at Toyota HO and didnt know about the history of this site. Very interesting. Tftc
Tftc. A nice easy find with Sayplease and Elegantgoth. This is a piece of history that I didn't know about, thank you
Having notionally adopted this cache from Hurricane Luke, it was a bit embarrassing that I hadn't actually found it myself, in spite of looking for it on at least two previous occasions and one of those with independent assistance. As I remember it, an adjacent building that has now been removed, may have affected the GPS reception as it was indicating GZ over a good 20m variation from one minute to the next.
With the encouragement that recent searchers had declared it an easy find, I decided I had perhaps made it harder than it really was, so while we were in Masterton today, I tried again and found it with ease, admittedly knowing the general whereabouts, but this time without the GPSr putting me wrong.
Thanks for the hide, Luke, and the history. Now I can log a find and then formally complete the adoption!

Straightforward enough but very high likelihood of muggles. Nice to get one that is almost directly outside my house!
Reasonably quick find as the co ords are a little bit out. In town for new years with family. Remember when the button factory was there. Didn't know about the explosion though. TFTC
FIN (laalaa, janahola, temyllyl, kapeka) holiday in New Zealand. Wonderful country, I loved it.
Greetings from Finland.
Thanks for the cache.

Thanks for the cache.
Found it with Team FIN [janahola, kapeka, laalaa & temyllyl]
We had fun with caching few weeks here in New Zealand. Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was pretty good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and really scenary country!

13th day on our geo-roadtrip in New Zealand, and caching our way towards north. Logged using our group nickname FIN with janahola, laalaa and kapeka. After having a blast in South Island and in Christchurch Mega event, we had to start heading back home. Fortunately we still had few days left to spend in NZ while driving to Auckland.
On a geoholiday road tripping to Christchurch MEGA and around beautiful New Zealand. Our four people group (temyllyl, laalaa, kapeka and myself) from Finland used group tag FIN to log the caches.
Welcome to MEGA Finland in 5-7 august 2016!
Today we drove from Wellington to Masterton. We saw many nice places and caches. Thanks for the cache!

What fascinating history. We thought an evening visit might be appropriate here so we drove up about 7:30. The cache was soon found and we walked away from the GZ while filling out the log to avoid attention. I don't know if we had already attracted attention or if it was just co-incidence when a security guard turned up, took a look at the gates (still open) and then went inside. We couldn't even sneak the cache back as he left someone behind in the car. So we had to get back into our car, drive away and come back later. This time I parked around the corner and walked back. I'm sure James Bond never had this problem .
Can see why it could be a muggle problem. Arrived too early for them so no problems. TFTC
Found during a quick stop to let the dog stretch his legs on our way back to Wellington. No problems finding this one. TFTC.
The log book is damp and a bit hard to write in. Could do with replacing next time CO is in area, but not super urgent.

Great history on this site and nice little cache. I'm a local and had no idea about this little piece of history. Great write up. Actually my family are learning so much about local history by doing local caches .
We left around 8.30am this morning and planned a big day down in masterton and to grab any caches that would be on the way, we have added paracord kaychains or block heads to the caches that would fit them in. finished up with a total of 33 and home again by 4.10 so not a bad way to spend a sunday and thank you for placing the cache, sorry for the copy and paste logs.
Cahe-hunting after fantastic WoW Airshow. WOW !!! The Community Service Building now appears to be an empty demolition site, and fenced off from road. Big sign at front reads that a Development Site of 10,000 sq.metres is available for sale. Mag.micro was found at adjacent premises. Thank you.
Wow - what a cache write-up! Love it when I learn of something fairly significant to local history through caching. Nicely done.
Searching approaching 10pm on a lovely evening, and no-one about but the odd car passing by.
TFTC!

Thanks for the interesting history of the site. It's an easy find shame that the site is being redeveloped. Thanks for the hide.
Muggles talking near a car in the carpark of the nearby premises, no chance of enough stealth today!
I spent the evening driving around Masterton picking up a handful of caches before getting some dinner. A quick find here while all was quiet on a Sunday evening. TFTC!
In Masterton for the day and decided to add some caches to the 'to-do' list. Interesting bit of history, although only a bare section now remains. A quick find in the first place checked between passing traffic. TFTC.
Found as part of my quest to complete GC572GM 100, 10, 7 Challenge Cache. Number 25/29 for the evening. TFTC
#1314 Found during a 24 hour caching raid in the Wairarapa with Nic-jay- seeing how many we could find in 24 hours. Quick find under the cover of darkness. TFTC!
Found while on a 24 hour caching adventure with Skaga through parts of the Waiarapa.
What a very interesting story and history! A nice quick find in the dark. TFTC

A quick find on the way home from cubs tonight. A quick find although was very wet inside. Have replaced it lid down TFTC
Tftc Found in the rain lol had to come back at night when they wore closed. Because I felt a little shady poking around during the day
Checked this one and replaced the logbook - original still workable but getting a bit scruffy.
Interesting information about the button factory. Cache was in first place we looked. TFTC.
Nice spot. Loved the information about the explosion. Cache fill of water so replaced upside down
I think the people in the Toyota dealership were looking at me. TFTC.
Cords exactly 8m out for me.

Wbond1116 and Wbond-Jnr went on another day trip to Wairarapa to try to get 100 caches. It rained most of the day
The great news is that we got 101 !!!
Some of the caches we logged with both our names, however to save your logs we simply placed "Wbond x 2" on many. We trust this is ok.

On a mission to find 50 caches in one day all at least 1 km apart. Left Hastings in the morning and collected the required 50 by the time we had reached Masteron. Mission achieved. Thanks for placing this cache and enabling us to complete our mission.
Great spot for a cache. Easy to find once you know what to look for..one of my first finds. tmann421 standing back encouraging me.
Suddenly the penny dropped!
A cache found before the Picnic in Pongaroa event on Saturday 18th January 2014 and Pohingina Car Rally on Sunday 19th of December 2014. Quick stop and away. TFTC

A day caching in Wairarapa on my way to Carrington Park Finnish Event in Carterton tonight. Thanks for the cache.
Every now and then, caching teaches us history forgotten. this cache listing was just that!
Thank you for such a great write up..... fascinating!
Oh, and a cache to find too.... but left wondering which site the button factory was on.... is it where St Johns is now on the other side of road, or the pile of rubble adjacent to the cache site?
