Labour Day and the weather is perfect. With Kauriforest, we have ridden from town to the Marine Reserve and now have time on the return journey to take a few rest stops and maybe find a few GCs on the way. This is the first. TFTC
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up in Gisborne … decided to head out & complete a few Kiwi Guardians on behalf of the Grandchildren, an Adventure Lab & some local walks … picked up this cache along the way … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,647 for us.
It was just after sunset when i got here. Beautiful spot, thanks for the cache nzkeko

Nice hide in a very scenic and off beat route. Nearly missed the turn off. You need to be on your game to spot it.
I decided for today's caches that I would try to locate the ones on or near the coast North of Gisborne.
The container is in a sorry state but will probably last a while yet.
Cheers for the cache.

Another nice stop on this coastal road. Cache has seen better days but as long as it faces downwards it should last much longer. I spotted a seal drom GZ which I suspect has found its final resting place. Very breezy.

#8031. Day 3 of our long weekend away from Wellington on a road trip to Hawkes Bay and Gisborne. I have driven up here with Infoferret. Our main aim is to pick up the TMGT caches and also a selection of other caches in the area. Stayed overnight at the Gisborne motorcamp in the city. Today we are heading north to Tolaga Bay and Tokomaru Bay. The weather is starting to turn with showers expected this morning and rain this afternoon.
We overshot the entrance on the way north but turned the car around and came back to the subtle exit off the highway up to the cemetery. We walked over to the beach and soon reached GZ. The cache was found in the first place inspected. Its rather rusted but the log was OK. Signed the logsheet and returned where found. Thanks nzkeko for hiding this cache here. Lovely views out to sea and time for a short spell of bird-watching.

31 May 2020 10:07. Overshot the parking spot and had to turn around and drive back. Fortunately no tangi in progress, so we were able to walk past without disturbing anyone.
Took a bit to spot the cache, then a fair bit longer before GSEL was able to tear himself away from bird-spotting, head back to the car and resume our journey towards the next TMGT cache. Tftc!

Called here this afternoon on the way back from getting the two TMGT caches up the coast. A quick find here although the salt exposure is making a mess of the container. Signed log, TFTC.
Away in the camper for a few days doing TMGT caches. Parked the geocamper outside the cemetery and headed off but no, not that way. Turn around and found another path. It was a hot walk to GZ and it was quite windy, which kept the temperature down a little bit. Down on the beach a man was fishing. Did not seem to be having much luck though. Mr S got there first and had the cache retrieved before Mrs S arrived. Lots of those funny little fluffy things blooming in the sand dunes. As kids we called them bunny tails.
Thanks nzkeko.
Thanks nzkeko.
One of seven located in the Gisborne / Tolaga Bay area today after we’d flown up from Wellington this morning. Short walk to the cache, pleasant surroundings. The container itself is as rusty as any I’ve come across! #2798. TFTC.
Off on a 5 day mission from Northland to the East Coast with the main target being the last two CANZ caches that I had not yet found. The opportunity to grab some $25 airfares to Napier was just too good to miss, even though it was winter and the days might be short and the weather might be dodgy.
Day one though was a real mission, with early morning fog for the drive to Auckland, untold time navigating the long Akl parking lots, delayed flights before we took off and then again in the air before we could land causing a missed connection for the rental cache mobile pick up. To top it off, the weather was cold and wet, but I still managed four caches in the dark.
Day four dawned much better with a cloudless sky but still a chilly sou'west wind. After a trip north to Tolaga Bay and a walk out to the lookout above Cook's cove, it was time to head back to Gisborne. Stopped off here and took a walk out to the beach. The cache was soon located, but actually access it was a lot more difficult, but eventually I had it in hand, signed the log and then replaced, securely but more accessible, ready for the next cacher. Awesome place! Cant believe I havent been here before. Its beautiful! TFTC. Easy find. All in good nic
Travelling further up the coast. A windy walk in, and the cache has seen better days. Beautiful view though! TFTF
Nice little walk. I stayed the night before in a roadside parking lot just down the coast.. nice to wake up right next to the beach as the sun rose..

Today we made a trip from Hicks Bay to Gisborne, again on the route of the Pacific Highway, thereby visiting many new sightseeing locations and looking for caches, too. On this trip we searched, found and logged a lot of caches. The weather was very good all day long, a bit colder in the morning but it got warmer in the afternoon. Funny clouds were our compagnions especially in the afternoon.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had other things to do than observing harmless geocachers.
Thanks to nzkeko for showing us this location and for the fun we had at Pouawa Marine Reserve Boundary (East Coast). The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

Day 5 Gisborne to Te Araroa today. So lets get rolling along!
There is miles and miles of beautiful beach and NO HUMANS. What a waste. Nice hide here but container rusty. Cheers
The Seagnoid, Zara and I are on another epic caching adventure for the next two weeks, starting with the Wellington Mega, then East Cape, Taraunga, Waihi, Rotorua and back to Wellington. Its been an awesome journey, over 2500 klms later, visiting many amazing places. Thanks to all COs

Has there been a name change for this reserve? All the signs state Te Tauwae o Rongokakao Marine Reserve. Its a nice hide here, although the container is rusted out.

Day 5 of my Mega trip: Gisborne to East Cape. Two weeks of travel with Taybeedragon, from Blenheim to the 2018 mega event, then on to my mum's eightieth birthday in Rotorua via the East Cape and Tauranga and the hole in the ground that is Waihi. Dropped the dragon off in Wellington while I continued on to Motueka for more family time before at last arriving home. We may have only found 230 caches over that 3000 km, but I qualified for 4 badge upgrades, hit the 10,000 cache mark, and even have a missing month ticked off! Throughout most of the trip we targeted special caches - earth caches, virtuals, wherigos, etc, although there were a lot of traditionals too. On the cache maintenance side about eight caches were replaced, and many more logs were added to or replaced. Many thanks to everyone who made this an awesome trip.

A beautiful morning in Gisborne and after breakfast I had time for a quick run up the coast before starting work for the day. Overshot the entrance to the urupa so had to double back. Pleasant walk to gz where the cache was a quick find. Container isn’t really suited to suites to marine conditions and is completely rusty and the kid has detached from the body. TFTC
12:08:00 PM. Yes, the weather is starting to clear and warm up. We made the pleasant walk to GZ and soon found the cache. Log signed. Container starting to rust away from the elements. Beautiful spot out here. Thanks nzkeko for the cache.
Day 2 of a 3 day roadtrip with jgirl1880. Weather is finally starting to clear up! Quick find here
Found with Mum as 'Jess & Caro'. She is now Carø and I now have my own geocaching profile so we are sorting my logs for caches we found together. TFTC!
Continuing our holiday in NZ we made our way south today towards Napier. This cache was on my list simply because I love the beach, being near the water, on the water or in the water! This cache gave me the opportunity to look at the water so that was a win. I filled my shoes with sand... should have put the jandals on for this one! Great views, thanks for another neat cache, nzkeko.
Another beautiful Aotearoa beach that I would not have visited without geocaching. The area was deserted here today even though it was a gorgeous, sunny day. This made finding the cache simple. I really should visit this area more often. TFTC
An important part of preserving our marine life. A gorgeous vantage point up here. We were told we needed to move because a tangi was on the way to this spot very soon. Lucky we were just returning to the car. TFTC
Travelling around the East Cape for the long ANZAC weekend and now reaching the home straight into Gisborne.
Mrs NZT parked the car while Mr NZT made quick time to GZ and made a quick find.
Headed back to the waiting car and we headed off.

Thanks for the cache. I found it on 26/02/16 at 2:48 PM. After 3 fails further north it's a pleasure to find this cache. Wow wow wow, what a view. Thanks for bringing us here.
thankyou for the cache love going new places. was an amazingly sunny great day to be at the beach and go for a drive with LauraB6623!
We enjoyed our visit to Pouawa Marine Reserve and had some successful finds including this one - nicely hidden thanks nzkeko.
Did a 'Pouawa' hunt this afternoon with family, lovely day and lovely place. TFTC, took geo coin to travel on.
Day three of the July school holidays, what better way to spend the Winter Holiday then driving up the East Coast, looking for interesting caches and climbing up muddy/slippery hills.
Thanks for a great cache, another story I hadn't heard before. SL TFTC.

We debated (quickly!) if we should find this cache, as we were running a bit behind time, but this one looked worth the stop. It took a minute to get to GZ, and I almost fell over a small drop- TFTC
Nice walk on a sunny winter day. The surf was huge and the cache was a nice easy find.

Nice views at the Marine Reserve Boundary, spotted a lone fishermen, fishing on the correct side of the Boundary. Our last find before retiring for the evening. TFTC.
We have logged this cache as part of 12-12-12: A Challenge? http://coord.info/GC42CNY

Lovely day to go beachwalking... and another little place that I never knew existed. TFTC NZKeko
A breezy walk to GZ today but no problems negotiating the access to the cache. We spotted the cemetery but didn't go over to investigate. A nice and predictable hide with some good views of the coastline. Thanks for bringing us this way. TFTC

A quick easy find, but it took us fully 10 minutes to extract the cache from its hidey hole, after returning to the car for suitable equipment to assist. We replaced it slightly differently to make it easier for the next person. TFTC

Traveling north with the Pprass team, we really appreciated the clear skies and sunshine after a few rather dismal days on the north island. We probably should have walked to this cache from our overnight campsite. If we had done that we would have missed visiting the quaint little cemetery nearby.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt nzkeko.

Found at 5:39 AM GAFF5 in the company of Phetlern. We made it hard for ourselves getting to the cache - cross country for a while, but it added to the adventure. Marine reserves are well marked here in NZ - not like in Ozland.
Thanks nzkeko
Thanks nzkeko
the Difficulty on this one was founding a car park but cach was very Easy to found TFTC
We didn't even get a chance to get out of the car! We interrupted a MAF "operation" and were asked to leave! Classic...we will be back AFTER the illegal poachers have been caught!
Lovely spot on a beautiful spring day. If I had been looking for snails would have found it straight away. But it was a bit harder. TFTC
Beaten by the Swiss for FTF! All is good, a very cold, wet and windy afternoon made this cache hunt all the more enjoyable. TFTC nzkeko, cheers SiLiRy
