The cache has been removed - apparently by maintenance staff. Reluctantly, I've decided to archive this cache...

Found this cleverly hidden geocache on Harvey Street, named after the esteemed 1st class surveyor William Harvey. It's fascinating to uncover the history behind this quaint location, with its ties to Cavenagh-Mainwaring, a prominent figure in South Australian history. The cache itself is a testament to the ingenuity of its creator, tucked away in a spot that surely goes unnoticed by most passersby. While Harvey Street may not be on the typical tourist route, discovering its significance adds an extra layer of appreciation to the visit.Remember to bring your own writing instrument, as there's no room for swaps here. Happy caching!

A very clever hide. Took us a couple of visits but we found it

09-Mar-24
Found, almost immediately! By pure chance, it was the first thing I touched. I can well imagine it presenting a challenge for some, though. Log was slightly damp, but I signed it nonetheless, and was the first to sign what appeared to be a new log. It was also pleasing to see a type of hide which I had not come across previously even though I've been playing this game for a long time. It gets a favourite from me.

Didnt want to upset the Pluver nesting nearby

1st real cache in Darwin, picked up the 5 labs at the airport last night, but this was my first physical container in the NT and presently my most Northerly find. Being only 250 odd meters from the hotel it was always gonna be first cab off the rank.Took a stroll in the stifling humidity and was soon at GZ. Circled the object a couple of times with an image in mind of what it would be. At bit more robust than I imagined but had the log to hand fairly quickly. Still a great cache construction deserving of a favourite. As a bonus there was a scooter nearby so jumped on that for the short trip back to the hotel.LandlockedSailors I found your cache at 7:11am, this was the 1st of 3 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 8396. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.

After an amazing few weeks exploring the NT and parts of WA, it’s time to head home, but we have a few days in Darwin beforehand, and of course we have to cache around in that time! We’ve had a great time this trip finding some amazing caches, and Darwin was no different!

Quick find here, cool container! The power poles around here have so many hides, they’re great!

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache LandlockedSailors!

Our last day in Darwin. We have the day free for caching, so are grabbing various challenges and puzzles mainly, with whatever else appears… This morning we concentrated in the outer CBD area while the rest of the team went fish feeding.
Clever camouflage here! Log is 3/4 full….
Thanks for hiding your cache.

Day 52 of our greynomad trip up north and after a the JLWEvents, a tour of Maralinga and caching to claim LGAs in the Eyre Peninsula, we are attempting to escape the southern weather that has been wet and windy. Not sure that we are acclimatised to the northern heat yet as we are feeling it by early afternoon, but out sightseeing and caching in the morning.

A not so quick find but it deserves a fav point.

Today is our first day in Darwin and we heard that the trucks of the supercars will be in town. As we were a little to early for them, we decided to take a walk to some nearby caches.

Little Inegüxle and Dad-Inegüxle searched for this cache quite a long time. Only after Mum-Inegüxle came to help us, she could find the well hidden cache. For the sneaky hide, we like to leave a favorite here.

Thanks for the cache and regards from Switzerland.

This tradi has often been a destination during visits to the city in recent years.
Unfortunately, the search was always unsuccessful.
This time, a previous log entry helped. But still, a thorough search was necessary to discover the hiding place.
Finally, the signature could be made Smile

Thanks to Landlockedsailers for this Traditional!

On our last day in Darwin we simply went for a walk: some caches in the morning and some shopping in the afternoon, with pizza in between.

At last, one for Mrs Bear! This time Mr Bear didn't recognise the cache. That's why it's good to be a team.

I came back today with a little bit of information and it was the second thing I put my hand on. I had touched it during my previous visits but because it blends in so well, didn’t investigate too much. Log was damp but I was still able to sign. So glad to make this one a smiley so fp. Tftc

Looked for this one last year and with an extra year of geocaching experience, I thought I would find it but alas not today. It’s been a few months since it was last found so hopefully it’s still there.

10-Sep-21
Super extra sneaky cache! Love it! I pre-read the logs on my way to this cache, so I had an inkling as to what I'd be looking for. What I had in my mind was different to what I found, and it took me longer than I care to admit to find it. But it blends in very nicely and would be nigh on impossible for a random passer-by to find by accident. Brilliant how well it blends in to the surroundings! There were a few spots where I stuck my hands in where I was a bit wary about spiders and such but luckily didn't have any furry (or scaly) encounters. Thanks for the cache Landlockedsailors!

04-Sep-21
We finally found it!! We have come back here at least 3 times and today we triumphantly discovered it!!!! What a great cache!

As we approach our 100th cache, this one caught my eye! For number 99 cache we wanted something with significance to us. I was born and raised in Adelaide and I loved the backstory of the street layout which links Darwin and Adelaide. Thanks for the great information and for placing this cache ️

While visiting Darwin for the first time and spending some time here, I intend to find some of highly favourited local caches. This cache is one of those and today was a good day to explore parts of the city centre I've bypassed so far.

Well, yes, this street might need more uplift and attractive features to become a visitor magnet. Razz But not every street can be the best-street-ever and we'll give this it's own space.

The find? Well, perhaps this is at its best on a quiet weekend morning, or so, instead of a weekday afternoon when people are starting to leave their offices or return back home.
Poking and prodding, measuring things intently with eyes but nothing popped up. Next time, then...

TFTH, Landlockedsailors.

I found this yesterday on my hot amd sweaty meander north of the cbd.
Took me a good few minutes of touching poking prodding staring glaring and thinking before something moved that probably shouldn't've and suddenly it was in my hot little hands.
Easily another fave for such a cleverly constructed cache.
Thanks landlockedsailors for raising the bar on traditionals in darwin.

I didn’t know what I was in for here. I had a hunch and conducted my search. I then thought I was in the wrong place and moved to another spot. I soon decided to go back to my original search site and sure enough I soon picked up the sneaky signs of a cheeky hide. I’m first on the new replaced log.
I was very impressed with the thought behind this cache.

DNF by Peanutbeagle and The Marathon Man during the last morning in Darwin before we had to get to the airport to get our flight to Sydney and the next day to back to Canada after holidaying in Australia for almost 3 months (it was great). At least we missed 3 months of winter in Canada

Just could not find it and we did a good search

Darwin Day 1, Part 2:

After a little break in the hotel to cool off and sleep, I was raring to go for another round of Darwin. This route centred around the caches in the CBD and Waterfront, and was thoroughly enjoyable. The hides in the CBD featured some rather tricky ones, so good fun all around.

This is the specific log for each cache:
Wow, I picked a really tough one to begin with. The search area is fairly narrow, but what could it be? After what was eternity under the sun, I spotted the one thing that didn’t belong and voila! The cache! Lovely camouflage! TFTC!

06-Oct-18
Looked for ages. Read all the logs. No luck

01-Sep-18
That was hard! would have never found it without PAF!

TFTC Landlockedsailors. All good with this cache. A favourite point for the history. We used to live in Adelaide for 16 years, so the names of the streets in the description sound familiar.

If it's possible to award another point for the ingenuity of the cache, I would! Lucky I didn't unscrew anything.

Now that was clever. Nice use of the surrounding material. After about 30 looks around I was still none the wiser. Then i poked some stuff that didnt seem alright. Is that a log?! Another several minutes to figure out how to get it out. Ohh so easy when you know.
Ive only ever had a brief vist to Adelaide but am farmiliar with these items. Termite proof. Dam straight.
Thanks for a great cache.

We were staying with Landlockedsailors, who took us to the general area and introduced us to the background of this cache, our first in the Northern Territory. They were our original reason for geocaching! We are very impressed with the workmanship of this cache! Devious, eh!
