Logs
Was at the GZ with hint but no luck. Quite steep and windy so didn't spend a lot of time looking.
After a good hunt we checked previous logs and realised there was more to it than there seemed. Relied on GPS and there it was
#622Love a good ammo can! The lid was a bit stuck but between two people we managed to prise it open.
Blowing a gale up here. Had a brief search...GPS spot on. Thanks for an awesome cache.
What a search this was. I must have looked at every bush within cooee range. It wasn't till I found the cache that I realised what the rest of the hint meant - I would not have understood that before finding the cache! The cache is, of course, pristine - for that, and the awesome view of the insides of clouds, this gets a favourite.
Hey - I'm not sweating anymore! Definately not 30 degrees up here! Cool, blowy, cloudy. Great tramping weather.
With my weekend plans cancelled I turned back to this - the climb up Climie. The weather report was okay (but was actually worse). A lot of DNFs on the first half of the trip up, but found every thing bar one on the trip across. And what a narly trip that bit was. Mostly no track, continuously losing and bashing through the bush to refind it. Strong winds and heavy cloud - ie thoroughly wet by the time I got off the hill.

Wow- what a view! This was turning into a very satisfying find until I couldn’t open it. Hoping a photo of the fabulous container will be enough. (Not taken directly at the gz but close and coordinates very accurate) Getting a bit nippy up here and I just can’t get the lid off! Perhaps the next person to find this and manage to open it could add my name to the log? Many thanks for a grand adventure and getting me up here!
Had a good crash around but no joy for us! Thought I was in the right zone based on previous comments but no go maybe next time
All day my GPSr had been suffering terrible drift issues up here and when it tried sending me down the side of the ridge I thought it had truly gone mad as it didn't fit the clue at all. And then it all made sense. Nicely done. Cache in good condition, despite the environment up here. TFTC TNLNSL
I came to Tunnel Gully to climb Mt Climie and hunt for some caches. It was my first time up Mt Climie and I had a very successful but tiring day! This was my favourite cache of the day - a quick find, good hint, great views and cache in perfect condition. Adding a favourite point. TFTC
Nice quick find here yeah rite after we looked three times eventully put some man eye's on and had a proper look and there it was safe and sound, it just had to be where could it go thanks for the placement and the smiley.
Found with 2bulbars

Found with Watcache on this nioce fine day many thanks for making this e bike ride up here so enjoyable
Found after a short search today on our morning tea break. Great container and all nice and dry inside. Thanks for placing this one
Mt it is cold up here. Searched for a long time under lots of bushes before ste eventually found the right one. Almost got blown away by the ferocious winds! Tftc
Today I had been invited along to meet up with some fellow Cachers to try to do the Mt Climie trail in Upper Hutt. I had a certain amount of trepidation, as it was supposed to be a fairly decent climb to the summit, and we were not sure whether we would be able to complete it due to both time constraints and the fact that we had Gale Force winds forecast for the afternoon!
So as a group of 4 adults and 2 dogs, off we set. As it turned out, whilst the gale was certainly doing it's best to blow the trees over, the trees were providing us with great cover so that we hardly felt a thing for most of the climb.
Only when we were exposed to the elements, at the higher points of the track, did we have some fun and games with the wind!
On the approach to this Cache, we were greeted by a growing noise that I would describe as "Airplane flying directly overhead!" such was the strength of the wind at this point. We had been lucky up until then that the trees had sheltered us so well, but this cache required us to break cover! GZ had no shelter at all, which made for quick find but an "interesting" retrieval. But once gotten, then we could sign the log before braving the gales to replace as found. A chance to get my breath back and then we decided to carry on a bit further.
Having just placed my first Cache this week, I have an even greater appreciation of what is required to put caches out in the field for all of us to find, and once placed maintain them. So a huge thanks from me for your efforts in placing this one.

TFTC. Wow it was windy up here today once you left the shelter of the Trees! Spotted by another member of the party and gratefully signed by all.
glad to be back up here to hunt for the rest, enjoyable walk/slog to get to the top, thanks for the placement - getting windy and time to put warmer clothes on.
Got it this time after I failed during a previous brief search The key is to be a bit liberal in your definition of the word 'near' It's all relative Adding a bit of structure to the search should help too I've previously admired the great views from this vantage point but not today All misty and grey TFTC
Going for a walk up Mt Climie today. The walk up was relentless but a good track. Worst part was the heat today at 31 degrees and no breeze or cover at the time. This was a quick find. Everything in order. TFTC

My 2017 birthday geocaching adventure! 8.5 hours of walking and geocaching, 21 finds, 2 DNFs, one very tired dog, and one exhausted human. Was pretty good haul for one day. Got all the way to 'It Can Be Done!' - didn't have the appetite to go beyond that. Weather was generally pretty good, although quite changeable. Views from the top were stunning. A great day's geocaching!
Bit of a scramble to get the GZ and I did end up on my butt a couple of times, but a straight forward find once at GZ. Stunning view! TFTC.

Very windy and cold on top of Mt Climie today. We found this one quickly and beat a quick retreat. With a Tararua Tramping Club group. TFTC.
Tararua Girl had organised a hike up Mt Climie with the Tararua Tramping Club and invited me along as the "geocaching expert" of the group.
We had stopped for lunch before we got to the repeater as it was more sheltered and quiet than what our scouts had reported. This was to be our turn around point, but as we were so close to this one it would have been rude to not pay a visit, especially as it's an ammo can so the newbies could get a chance to spot one of these relatively rare container types (for NZ).
I was a bit apprehensive though, with the previous logs, but I set to work anyway, heading straight for what seemed to be the obvious spot. Hmm nothing there...tried from a different angle and still nothing. I looked around and then I spotted the cache in a different spot. Clambered over and soon spotted what was referenced in the hint and came up trumps! Brought it up to the others where the log was passed around for signing, then back down for me to replace.
Very cold and windy up here and while I was a little disappointed that we hadn't made it any further, I was OK to head back down. Even though it was a relentless slog up, and an agonising (for me) descent, it was an enjoyable excursion. TFTC+Fav

The bushes here are a bit low but I would have thought anything this big would have been obvious unless the camo is really good.
Nice hide up here. Unfortunately the weather is closing in a bit and it's gone quite cold. Calling it a day and heading back down. TFTC.
Had the day off work, and decided to go for a walk up Mount Climie - both for a bit of fitness, and also to grab a bunch of caches. Fantastic day for the walk. Quick and easy find at the corner. *TFTC agcnz #147*
We went on a group walk and found a few caches, forgot to log this one digitally; tftc.
A weekend in Wellington and so a walk with Cache.Mike is on the agenda. This means a walk up a big hill for him and plenty of caches for me so this area was a good choice.
A cold wind here so it was time to put a light jacket over the tshirt before starting the search. The find was not a quick one but once we trusted the GPS CM found the hint and soon after the nice cache.
Thanks agcnz for the cache.

A day walk out with Kiwiexplorer and we found plenty of caches, some of them along the way, some after bush bashing or extrem bush bashing - but those were my favourites of the day! Thanks for all the caches [^] Sorry for the copy / paste logs [8)]

Great day - sunny and calm.
But no luck partly due to lack of precision of cellphone gps, and mainly because of the 20cm of snow.

Collected as part of a whole lot of caches on the way to Mt Climie on a sunny but slightly nippy winter's day.
Beautiful day to be up here, made even more memorable by discovering another of my favorite cache containers. I have hidden half a dozen of these myself and appreciate the effort made to cammo them and lug this one up here. Good job agnz!
The view is spectacular today as the sun is with few clouds, and there is not a breath of wind. Amazing.
I spotted the 'Corner' quickly and knew I was onto something. Yes, there she was tucked in and waiting to be found. Signed log and returned as discovered. Of course the log was dry and happy, although sometimes a log can be wet if signed in the rain, rather than water leaking in. No chance of a leak here!

Down from Auckland staying in Paraparaumu for 4 nights, caching as much as I can here on this mountain and in Wellington and a power trail in Palmerston Nth. This area has been on my list of climbs to do for awhile now.
At last I get to see the top, well almost the top, but this repeater station is a welcome relief from the steep grind up so far. I descended a little further to find the cache and what a container! New everything. I hope it lasts too! Long way up to replace it. the view here is stunning, probably the best...I took a panorama foto which I'll post soon. then I carried on to the top. yikes, more steep hills I can see...

Another quick find by Mr. Always nice to be first in a shiny new logbook! TFTC
Cache number 200 overall, and I am done for the day. Legs too tired to ride further... looking forward to the ride back down. Huge thanks to all cache owners, I would not have made it this far if not for the incentive of reaching my next milestone!

A scheduled maintenance visit on a tramp to find four recently-placed caches in the region. The logbook has been replaced with a new one and double-bagged. A new cache note has been left as the old one had disappeared. The main cache container is now a camouflage-painted steel ammunition container which should give a lot more protection than the original Xeonic container which had leaked. The original container has been dried and is now inside the ammo box as additional protection for the cache. Hopefully I shouldn't need to make another visit for a long time!
Cache # 2,700 - Took a little bit to track this one down. Certainly the scariest cache grabbed today, even compared to the ones at the end of the ridge beyond Climie. Read the latest log and brought along a new ziploc bag and put in a temporary log sheet. TNLNSL. TFTC.
Decided to climb Mt Climie today with Wandering Dragons. Was an absolutely beautiful day and quite a slog up the mountain. Views from the top were amazing being able to see as far as the South Island, Kapiti Island and even the Wairarapa along with Magnificent views of Upper Hutt. Most of the caches were easy finds, but some took a little longer as the vegetation has grown quite a bit. Thanks for the cache
Like "Return to Climie" next door, this cache will have to have a repeat visit in the near future for the same reason. The log has been temporarily removed for remediation.
I expected an uncomplicated search here given the nature of the location and the hint. (With 'apologies' to George W. Bush), I misunderestimated the deviousness of the CO and searched under 4 wrong George Ws before looking at where the GPS wanted me to go. So once again a rush-job took longer to finish, but a satisfying outcome in the end, all the more so for having found caches placed by 11 different cachers on the Mt Climie track itself, and one other on the way home, and a mountain-bike ride to die for (but didn't)!

Saturated log removed today for drying. Until it can be returned, please either place a signed temporary log in the cache or take a photo as proof of find. Thanks.
A very cold & exposed spot here. Sadly there were no views for us today so we focused on looking for the cache. Didn't take too long to track it down. The log is soaking wet - etched our name into it though.

#953. After a long steady climb uphill without any stops to locate caches (I had done a bunch of the middle ones a month or so back) this was the first cache to check after the Climie Spur junction. Reached the repeater and started to look for the cache. Well I checked quite a few places thoroughly and didn't see any cache. Decided to widen the search a bit more and soon saw a place that fitted very well with the hint. The cache was found shortly after. Someone must have found it as the lid was open and the logbook was in its bag but not zipped up. The paper was soaked but still just able to sign it. I left the logbook out in the sun and breeze while I carried on uphill. Later on my return downhill I put it back in the plastic bag. It was marginally drier, but not helped by the dense clag that had descended in the past few hours. Returned the container to a more secure spot under the bush. TFTC
Brrr definitely a lot colder up this part of the walk! And very windy. Quick find of the cache all in good order
Aha! Got you at last! I couldn't find this one on my last visit up Mt Climie. I was put off by the creepy sounds coming from the tower. Turns out I was looking in the wrong place anyway and the hint made much more sense once I was in the right spot! TFTC!
A quick find with TregearP doing this Power Trail in what started out in fine weather and finished up with a torrential down pour.
TFTC.

At last, almost at the top, very strong wind and visibility is starting to close in but so far a good walk, TFTC
wow a lot more caches than I expected to get today and this is my last one to log so thanks for the cache really love it up here.
Perfect weather for a stroll up Mt Climie with tmann421 today.
Cache found quickly and in good order. Great views from here after being in the trees for a while.

It was a long haul on the mountain bike on the way up. The prospect of snow kept us going. It took me longer than it should've to find the cache because the iphone wasn't as accurate as the gps I left in the car... The clue was obvious once I rethought it... TFTC
Number 16 of 17 on a 5 1/2 hour jaunt around the Climie circuit from Tunnel Gully. Cool south easterly blowing with cloud down to about 700m: visibility is very poor, about 100m.
Kordia team still on site - must be working late!

Called briefly on the way past this afternoon. The cache had been moved several metres from its correct hiding spot and the hint was no longer valid. Now replaced back where it should be. Everything else in order.
Out caching with kiwimudgie on an overcast day. The weather cleared enough for us to appreciate the amazing views offered on the climb to the top. This one took us a quite a while to find, eventually kiwimudgie laid his hands on it.
Thanks for the cache
Thanks for the cache
Found with Emvy_us and McTees while on an afternoon walk up the Mt Climie track. TFTC, #6233
An enjoyable walk to Climie today with McTees and Waiiti20. Great views - and some weary crew members at the end! TFTC
Decided to have a crack at my 200th cache today up Climie. Can I manage it so the trig is number 200??? Never been up here before, so we will see how it goes. This one #197. Getting closer !!!!
All good here - log dry etc

#5101. Sunny day without much wind. Great views. Found after a short search. TNLNSL. TFTC.
I found it during track to Mt. Climie. It was beautiful day for geocaching. Thank you.
The weather changed to foggy and cooler temp. Limited view of Hutt region, looked for a little bit to until we found location
The polofleece top was back on as the temperature had taken a decided drop combined with the rather strong northerly making conditions not all that pleasant. At one stage the sunglasses (forever hopeful) were whipped out of there slot on the pack harness and blown almost 25m down wind. The Hutt valley was only glimpsed occasionally between the fast moving and brief breaks in the cloud. Had been in misty cloud for some distance before reaching this location. After finding the cache moved back a bit to take some shelter from the wind while filling in the log. Almost got blown away while returning the cache with the up current of wind racing up slope. TFTC

Enjoyed the last 200m to this cache - it was mainly flat! Views from here fantastic as promised, but couldn't really linger as the buzzing sound from the repeater was most irritating. Took us well over 2 hours to get here - including finding 5 caches en route and a stop for morning tea. (We travel at my speed which is sloooow.)
We picked a great day for our walk up Mt Climie, mostly sunny for great views but it was not too hot as we toiled uphill. Many thanks to all the cachers who have placed the wealth of caches along the way.

#5139. We were enjoying the views now that we had got above the bush. The was a cool breeze, but not cool enough to require a wind breaker. TFTC.
Found during a walk to the top of Mt Climie, good day out. Rained at the top, a must for the region. TFTC
Owner checkup. Called briefly while up this way to find some of the more recent caches placed since I was last here. All is well - gave the cache a good thump and got a satisfying squawk in reply from its occupant. I don't think anyone has discovered this yet!
Waitangi Day caching. Nothing better. Bagging caches around Rimutaka Tunnel, Gully and Mt Climie.
Enjoyed a great series of caches of which this was one.
Straightforward find, cache in order, log signed; cache safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!
Lots of huffing and puffing, and pleased to get to here for a wee rest.

Found on the way up to Climbie with some fellow cachers and Scouts. Nice day for a wander up her and a few gliders going over as well. TFTC!
Found on a cache-placing mission with the simpsonsrgr8s. Thanks for the lovely walk.
We decided the weather was perfect to head up Climie today with Feildwork. We hadn't been before but really enjoyed it.
The return journey took about 4.5 hours to collect all of the caches up here and stop for lots of photos.
We picked a different spot to start looking but quickly decided to follow the GPS and there is was.

The corner clue was a bit misleading until we got closer. Nice spot for a photo.
What corner ? Aaaah - THAT corner ! Found with 1Grunta as part of our walk to the end and back this morning. Great views down over the Hutt Valley from here. TFTC !
Had a bit of a job finding the right hiding spot. Mrs B was worried I'd fall off the mountain! It looked worse from where she was standing though. While I searched for the cache she tried to spot the Long Tailed Cuckoo that was making its warning call from a tree just the other side of the track. They are, however, notoriously harder to spot in the trees than a well-hidden Geocache is, so she had no luck while I did ! TFTC.
#987 Found on my wander up to Mt Climie to pick up the new caches on a nice warm day. Great to pop out to the views here. No problems tracking down the cache once arriving at GZ. TFTC!
Re-visited on an early Xmas morning hike to the top, as part of Boxhill's "Peak Performance Challenge". On my return journey back from going out to "Climie Rocks", the last cache up here i still had to retrieve.
Brought a bagful of TBs and GCs to visit, but decided not to drop anything off as so few people seem to come out to these exciting caches.
TFTC ... again!

I used to make the effort to get up once a year. However, in recent times, geocaching has encouraged me to go to all sorts of places and I no longer have any regular walks.
I'd had a couple of attempts at finding the cache that was hidden nearby and has since been archived. I expect it is still there.
Thanks for putting another cache here. It was certainly easier to find than the other. I enjoyed the hike up here. The cache owner's description of relentless as the way to describe it is spot on.

This is as far as I had ever come before (nearly six years ago now) on this track, and that was to find the original Mt Climie cache, 'Climb to Climie' http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=9a9c5e26-e883-4066-8a00-d3901d88d2a7 which was only ever found by 8 people before being reported MIA. Possibly it is still there? I remember it being quite a difficult find with the hint distance being a bit inaccurate. It was definitely in the Toitoi however [xx(]
Good to see another cache here again, and a reason to come back.
Many thanks agcnz [^]
