It was quite hot this afternoon, but I did enjoy my stroll along the ridge. No prickly stuff about, but lots of new plantings. Going to be quite nice here once they get established. TFTC
Located with Ricardinho
We arrived at this site & there was a lot of prickly shit around, so I volunteered RNZ for the bush bashing. Not sure what he was on today, because I missed the wall of horse
I am completing the 50km a Day Challenge with a team from work & I need to exercise every day of March. Today we decided on a mountain bike ride from Tasman to Mapua along a track adjacent to the new main road. We have looked at this many times driving to Motueka & talked about doing it, today was the day. My reward for the exercise, a pastie from the Ruby Bay Kitchen & a drink at Golden Bear

A tricky one to get to. We walked up and back trying to find the best access but there was either a wall of horse or an unscalable slope. In the end chose the best access of a bad bunch, but the geotrail suggested I was not the only one to come this way.
A few minutes searching, found about 10 metres +/-. Nice to tick off, toughest of the day. TFTC B&W.
It was a nice early autumn day, and I am over the hill again. Today RG72 and I decided to go for a bike ride starting at Dicker Rd in Tasman township.
We have often driven down the highway here to Motueka or wherever and commented on the cycle way up on the ridge to our right (when going that way) and thinking we should get out here for a ride. Exercise for RG72; that and caches for me.
That discussion picked up again when a few more caches were published along here recently.
So I packed the two wheeled steed, chucked on RG’s too, and here we are.
All up it was very successful. All caches found in good shape, further notes for each at the above. Thanks all COs

Not the easiest one to get to! I found a reasonable access way through the gorse and the low pine branches. Clear around gz and a quick find. TFTC!!
The gorse seemed to be taller then some of the trees. I quickly read some of the logs and found the best way to approach GZ. Once there, I had no problem finding the cache. But then I didn't want to go back down the same way, so I hopped over the fence and hiked back toward my Geovan through the paddocks.
Not too long after, a vehicle pulled up. It was the farmer's son who gave me a lift back to Dicker Ridge Stroll. He only had a learner's permit, but drove very well only hitting a few bumps a bit too hard. See my log for this cache for the rest of the story. TFTC.

We found a chook in the gorse when we were trying to find out way up the bank, hopefully she's from a nearby farm and she finds her way back. Quick find once we were on the bank. TFTC
Lots of gorse here so walked along a bit further and climbed up the bank. No gorse up here to get this one snagged and tagged. Cheers
Its another weekend exploring Nelson and Tasman with The Seagnoid, Toby and Zara. Early start out of Blenheim getting to Nelson by 8am. Had a great weekend picking up a couple of Labs, even a new one on our way home in Havelock.

An interesting exercise this - there is a nice road access to the cache, but it is completely covered in gorse. So Taybeedragon and I climbed up to the fenceline and wiggled our way along. After that it was easy, GZ nice and wide open. And free of gorse!
Given that I am leaving Blenheim soon, I am putting in a concerted effort to cache out the South Island. 40 caches this weekend, only a few thousand more to go. A couple more weeks should do it! As usual I have Zara, Toby and Taybeedragon along for the ride. We were supposed to be going to Murchison, but there is some horrible weather that way, so we came here instead. Much better!!

Staying at the McKee Memorial Reserve and decided that it was time for another cyclocache ride. This ride was to include the Dicker Ridge Track. The direct route to the cache from the track is now covered in head high gorse. I had to backtrack a bit and take the fenceline route. Nice quick find.TFTC b&w
SJT_NZ and I were off for an afternoon stroll, I'd walked most of the Dicker Ridge track on another occasion but ran out of time to complete the caches in the middle. Today completed the two that I missed and a nice caching wander, thanks b&w cache all in good order.
Found whilst out on an afternoon stroll for a couple of caches to qualify for the Goodbye 2019 Souvenir. All in good order - although a little challenging to get to with all the gorse and blackberry. Signed log and replaced as found. Thanks B&W for another cache.
Walking along the Dicker Ridge this morning. Had to find an alternative route in as the presumed route in a bit overgrown. Quickly spotted when in. Able to claim 972m towards the DGSc distance challenge. Thanks for the cache.
We went for a drive this evening to see how close we could get to one of the caches along this track. We parked up fairly nearby and made our way up to the ridge and headed along the track. There was a bit of gorse to make our way past and once up the bank GK made a nice quick find, he signed the log and returned it as he had found it.
Thanks for placing the cache and thank you for the smiley

Came for a walk up the Dicker track today in glorious hot sunshine. It's a nice walk along this ridge with plenty to see on both sides. The farmer was bringing in his sheep for a bit of a hair cut so he asked us to park on his lawn to keep out of harms way.
We knew exactly where we needed to get for this one but these days it's not so easy with all that gorse. On the way in we went straight up, not much gorse but steep at the top. Came down along the tree line then bashed the last metre to get out. TFTC.

Out to capture the Dicker Five this evening. A pleasant stroll atop the ridge watching the cars and campers whiz by on the highway below. It must have been quite a different view pre-bypass, six-ish years back.
Few problems at the GZ, spotting a likely spot as I negotiated the slope and gorse.
Thanks

Saved a few caches for a bike ride and now the bikes are all set up for summer we decided to test them out. Unfortunately the body is still in winter mode and I was in low gear for most of the ride.
With plenty of tracks from horses and bikes in the dried mud, I'm glad this path is well used and glad my feet are joining them

This was our turn around point today, having come in from Stagecoach road end. As it turned out we would have had time to walk to the next one since we had to wait on the way out for a very large digger to be loaded during which the road was entirely blocked. No problems with Hazedarus getting back to work on time though.
Thank you bumandworker.
Thank you bumandworker.
Our last cache for the day. This could be an attractive track if the gorse is tamed. With the local population growing that might well happen. Meantime the track is in place. We expected some wild life taking advantage of the abundance of locust that were flapping around but maybe they're not very tasty. Thank you bumandworker
A bit of gorse to negotiate before we got to GZ and it took a few minutes for the GPSr to settle under the trees. We were so busy looking for a typical b&w cloaking device that we initially failed to spot the uncovered cache! Left it was an extra large covering, should be easily found by the next cacher. TFTC.
#9555. GZ proved to be a good place to observe water on one side, and the road on the other. TFTC.
Found this but now on reading logs had been replaced with a micro, this was a container lying out in the open, all nice & dry, so signed it and tucked it in a little out of sight about 11mts from where gps took us. TFTC
No luck here looked it all the possable places the clue had to offer looks like its gone sorry to say
Out for a good walk/jog around the Dicker Ridge track to pick up all the caches, I carried on while rediguana went back to the car to meet me at the other end. I looked and looked and looked, but found nothing that matched the hint. I canvased GZ for a good 10 mins. Goose egg for me.
Nice track. Cache in open. Rocks washed or blown off. Made it snuggly again
Picked up trackable.

Almost enjoying the bike ride too much to check the GSP. Fortunately came to my senses before going too far.

In Motueka for the morning and had time to find a few caches on the way back to Nelson. Passed a few caches in Motueka, but they all had too many muggles about.
This was a quick find. Cache was partly uncovered when I found it. I left it with a bit more cover. TFTC

I liked the patterns left on the grounds by the tanks - quite cool! Cheers Gav [10306]

We were driving along the highway and noticed an open gate and turned this into one of those loved drive by caches

Thanks for telling us about this ride, this time I actually had the geocaches loaded and so found them no problem
Once, before the gates went in and the houses went up we drove along here and back down into the highway from about this point. This time we stopped on the highway and scrambled up to Water Was. Found it just before the rain set in. Thanks for the series.

Yes. Had a great drive down here one day, then cut down the hill to the road. Pity they had to go and spoil our fun. I remember the tanks. Did you notice their removal left cool patterns? TFTC.
Nice One!!!!!!!!! Picked the right spot for a very gentle 90m climb to GZ. View was something else. Really enjoyed this series as #2 became #3 find. Some very sound advise made it a winner. Much fun! Thanks
PL (Post Log)7/10/11 After watching the Tour de France, never thought we would see the same roadside design, so far from France. Must be some kind of a record. Very much worth a picture on the cache page.

Sobad is known to refer to fish on bikes when discussing Mrs Sobad's cycling. Which would offend me but it is true. We didn't have time to do the full walk as it was getting cool so popped up from the road to do the 2 closest caches. It made a nice stroll on the ridge. Thanks
Our 2nd stop along the track today. Quite muddy down on the track but no problems near the cache. Dropped in a cute trackable, although I doubt the real thing would have made it up here. TFTC, Biggles.
I nice wander up here late this afternoon. There are some very interesting marks or patterns just by the cache and winter solstice has just passed - I wonder! TFTC #2259
Enjoyed the walk along the ridge - the sunlight playing on the low tide water was a welcome sight after all the rain of late !! Last little bit was a tad slippery after the rain to but managed to get there with out falling on my a*** - hmm of course hadn't noticed they were gone - I assumed they where here for the road builders. The cache was uncovered but I dont think it is cachers that are responsible - I think some bovine friends are exploring the smell and are knocking the rocks off as they snuffle - evidence of this is the very fresh deposits on the other side of the fence right near the cache - have recovered the stone from that side of the fence and placed on top again - so we will have to wait and see lol thanks for the cache one day soon we will walk the entire loop
A great walk along this ridge and as the last cacher said it was great watching the traffic roar past oblivious to whats going on up here. Got to GZ and realised that this was an area we had often said we must get up there and place a cache!! Well we snoozed and lost. Thanks for placing one here hadnt noticed the items had been removed allready! TFTC
Dazzaboi had already done this one the other day so we departed ways bay at the junction he had to get to work.It was a nice walk along the track above the road watching cars go roaring passed not that many noticed me on my stroll.Nice cache with a neat view, cache was well covered.TFTC
A nice quick run to cache this morning. Very nice views up here. Im glad you are still planting caches its starting to quieten down. Thanks heaps for the cache =)
please people recover with rocks, thanks to ricklc for the fix up. be safe. b&w
An early morning FTF but was I first? did spacemen land and leave there calling cards TFTC
For you crazy night cachers, this one could be accessed from the highway entry point, as you do not cross private land from here to the cache.
