I have no idea how stealth I was being but managed to locate and sign the log. Container was missing it's life but log was nice and dry. TFTC
The weather was grey and overcast with rain threatening, so we made an early start to explore this area. We were fortunate to have gz to ourselves as it could have been awkward to find this one if muggles were around. We had to get down and low on all fours to find the cache. TFTC
Touring the far north and Auckland region with Flowerydaze. After the postponement of the Mega we decided to come north anyway and take time out for caching. Lovely area and lovely weather. TFTC.
Oh my poor knees! I was wearing shorts when I volunteered to go for this one while Talla64 just enjoyed the ocean view. The cache was a QEF thanks to good co-ords and a helpful hint. Re HMS Puriri, what a very sad bit of history. Thank you for putting a cache here and for giving us details of the tragedy. Very interesting.
Found lying on the ground.Could not find where it should be screwed back so have left on shelf.
Took a bit of team effort, muggle avoidance and awkward manouvering, but we got it!
Very interesting story.
TFTC!

Found after some crawling and looking at the view. Interesting story about the place. TFTC and greetings from Sweden!
Found after a nice day at Ocean beach, before heading back to Waipu.
Cheers from Sweden and TFTC!

Got it yesterday evening after some crawling (I prefer the view to the beach when coming out!)
Greetings from France.
Greetings from France.
Happy New Year everyone!
We have just attended the Sun rising event here on Ocean Beach at some ungodly hour of the morning to welcome in 2019. So had to stop off here to snag this one as its only a few meters away from Zara. The Seagnoid scrambles under while I search the perimiter after reading the info board. The Seagnoid finds the lid so we arrange a replacement to keep this one rolling along. Cheers. Ironic the HMS Puriri was a mine boat that was sunk by a mine?? Now we are out of here traveling to Palmerston North today.
Tuesday - New Years day - day eighteen - relocating from Whangarei to Palmerston North with the whole team on board.
Its another epic 3+ week geocaching adventure with The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and William to the Far North. What an amazing place to explore. Lots of walks, gravel roads and sand. Lots of amazing trees, beaches and interesting POIs. Lots of kilometers traveled by vehicle and foot. Vehicle breakdowns, making new friends and catching up with old friends and family. Snagged a couple of FTF's, lots of lonely caches and the odd event along the way. Lots of cache maintenance and replaced caches on this trip. But what an incredible adventure!!. Thanks to all the CO's who have made this trip so memorable..

After spending the a VERY early morning with a bunch of fellow geocachiers assiting some sunsmiths in making sure the sun would rise this year (The sunsmiths got the sun up, but alas rose it in the wrong place, behind the headland. We had to run down the beach, drag the sun to the right place, beside the headland). After a busy morning ceremony, ensuring another year's geocaching, Taybeedragon and I went for a crawl. Found the cache lid, but no sign of the cache itself. No worries, Zara has a full size cache maintenance kit. Soon we had a new cache mounted, same as the original. Thanks for an awesome dawn, time to head south now.
Day eighteen of an awesome, tiring, long, three week holiday geocaching with Taybeedragon in the upper north. Today: Whangarei to Palmerston North. The whole trip comprised of hours of walking on sand, sliding down sand dunes, hundreds of kilometres of unsealed roads, car breakdowns, paddling out to islands, lighthouses, dolphins, goats, events, FTFs, weird boulders. You name it, we saw it. Lots of bisons, lots of cache maintenance, lots of sunscreen. A month is enough. I am glad to be back home. Except that now I have to write up my trip. We averaged just 20 caches per day, but that is still a lot of logging!
Happy new Planetary Orbit from the Seagnoid!

I had a crawl around underneath today. Saw the remains of the cache top but didn't find the remainder anywhere. Might need checking up on by the CO. A lovely day for a stroll on the beach. The kids had fun on the sandy hills nearby. Thanks for tempting us to this nice area

We decided to go down to ocean beach whilst we had the windy wet weather from the side effects of cyclone Hola to have a look at the waves. Whilst they're we wanted to get this geocache as we knew it is always a busy spot and today no one would be there. But unfortunately for us we couldn't find it. After reading previous activity we think maby the cache is no longer here however we weren't searching long due to the heavy rain and strong winds!
#9573. A good day to do a bit of explorartion of Whangarei Heads. Learnt some interesting history here. Fortunately GZ was pretty quiet when we visited. Found after a short search and widening of the area. As per previous logs, the unattached cache was now without its lid and wet and gunky inside. The temporary log left by geotede was damp, but writeable. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.
We replaced the cache where we found it, although it was most likely not at its original location anymore. The cache owner might want to check it out.
Thanks for the placement and for bringing us to the site, and …

After hiking part of the Te Whara Trail, I then headed out to Ocean Beach to take a look for this cache, which was quickly found at GZ. As others have mentioned, it is without lid at the moment. A nice outlook over Ocean Beach from here. TFTC!
Great day to be out on the beach....enjoyed the views form GZ and the interesting history of HMS Puriri...thanks for the cache.
Beautiful here today, enjoyed a walk alog the beach and the history here. . Tikitour and I spotted the cache and also the lid, but not attached as intended. Couldn't replace onto the lid, returned cache as found. Thanks.
Thank you for the cache - I have learnt something today. The cache has no lid and the log a soggy mess. I have placed a temporary log in a plastic bag.
Remedied my previous DNF. Found cache unattached and rather damp. Attempted to sign. Sorry didn't have any repair goodies in this car. TFTC
Brilliant weather for mid winter, if a little bit chilly, and surprisingly few muggles at the beach, so was able to have a good uninterrupted search for this one. Found it after a couple of minutes, but quite tight to access. The log inside was soaking wet, but just managed to get a signature on it. TFTC
A lovely warm day and pretty well empty beach - just beautiful .
Cache was well concealed but tough to access - got there in the end.

Very interesting spot. Had not realised the war impacted New Zealand as it seems so far away. Attempt 1 at the cache was thwarted by rain but after a few minutes we tried again and there it was. Tftc

Oh and what a view

Found with mum and dad and some of there friends from a cruise. The log book is soaked. We tried to dry it out a bit but had no luck
Found today. Log soaking wet. Tried to dry it Visiting with hedgehog's spoon and Plus Elle from Calgary Alberta Canada. TFTC.
I would consider changing the hint, because actually a lot of screws are already loose. It also leads kinda in the wrong way. The logbook is totally wet, needs maintenance.
Apart from that very nice spot and good Idea

A quick find before an early morning walk along the beach. Interesting bit of history.Tftc
So with the nice weather this afternoon and all the jobs done at home I decided to jump in the car and head to the beach- and figured I would grab some caches while I was here- and on my way home.
TFTC and giving me added reason to head to the beach Great spot for a hide

First cache in the morning after spending the night at the lower parking. Too wet too sign.
A quick stop here and a quick find to be had. No muggles around which made it easier really nice spot! TFTC
Here for the annual ultimate frisbee tournament.
Quick find with a few other people wondering what a friend and I were talking about.
Thanks!

#11083. Great views, and an interesting bit of NZ history; well worth a cache here. TFTC.
Target for today was the Whangarei Heads, so we decided to go there via Mt Tiger Rd and return via Whangarei Heads Rd, which would increase the caching opportunities . Didn't all go to plan as we had to drive past some caches where parking was tricky.
What a great location, with fabulous views. The waves looked dangerous, you wouldn't get me out there! But there were quite a few people in the sea. No-one else at the lookout which made an easy job of searching. After a bit of peering, and trying not to kneel in the dog poo [:(!], the cache was in the end easily located. Wet inside the container and so log book was soggy. TFTC.

Wow, this is a really popular place! Had to wait ages for muggles to move on, only for more to arrive. And then there was a break, so went in for the grab. No crawling involved. Cache in plain sight.
Beautiful clear day what a wonderful vista...nice easy find here log book very wet otherwise all good ;)
A beautiful day at the heads again. Looking after 2 year old Grandie. Good excuse to go around. Thanks
Nice viewpoint - we did this one as the last one on the way back to the car after a nice walk. However as we got near GZ the light smattering of rain turned in to all hell breaking loose and we got soaked!! Nice quick find though and it didn't look like there were any muggles in the bach.
Visiting NZ from the US. Had to wait for some muggles to clear out before making the find. TFTH!
Nice and easy find after walking on beach ....keen for a swim but looked pretty rough and no one else in .....
Thanks for this cache butters ...

heading out for a days hiking, just waiting for the rest of the gang to turn up from Russell, knocking off a couple of caches in the mean time to minimise pain for the muggles... Log all nice and dry.. nice and overcast with strong breeze such a refreshing change from the blistering humidity yesterday and beach is deserted.. just how I like it lol
Nice quick find after an enjoyable ride out to the beach on the motorbike. TFTC
Found location without problem but did not fancy crawling underneath with a dead pig!!! Ugh!
In very sad state so Poppa J and I have replaced container and log. Replaced where it should be but instead of screwed to lid it is hidden by 'hard' camo.
Found this one while on holiday from home at Whangamata TFTC found with no lid and contents on the ground sat piece of wood on it to stop blowing away needs maintenance
Found the cache just lying under the deck. No lid and ...eeeww! full of snails and their droppings. Log book is there but damaged. Sorry but I didn't have any supplies with me to replace the container, so it really does need attention.
found the cache, no lid but someone got a bit hungry and started munching on the log
I noticed that this cache has been in need of owner attention for a period of time well in excess of the period of "a few weeks" as contemplated by the cache guidelines published on Geocaching.com. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other caches from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache, or archive it (using the archive listing link in the upper right) so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location.
If you plan on repairing this cache, please log a note to the cache (not email) within the next 30 days so I don't archive the listing for non-communication.
