Greetings from Sunny Whyalla!
I think this one is gone - and when getting home for a late log, discover it was disabled after I downloded to my GPSr, but before I went to find it. Oh well - didn't waste too much time considering the charcoal around...

The kids were trying out the skateboard park on their scooters so I wandered over here hoping for a quick find. I checked the sign thoroughly, checked the tree best as I could. Nada. Nix. Nothing. Such is. Nice bit of history though.
SnapesOnAPlane strike once again! The feeling of finding this catch was like catching the snitch back in the day
I had a spare five minutes on the way home this afternoon so what better way to spend it than by making a quick cache grab of the many on offer around Ballarat. This was the closest on offer and with nobody around at GZ made for a quick although exposed find. Thanks for the cache sully1.
Quick easy find especially since the location had been set on fire recently. The cache is undamaged but very obvious. Might be worth moving it a little. Tftc
Found it! The Walkabouters were having a long weekend in Ballarat so I took the opportunity to go exploring and find some nearby caches before everyone was up and about.
I looked in a couple of extra places before finally spotting the hide. Great place and thanks for the history. TFTC SL

2:51:00 PM. Our last for the day after some shopping nearby. The better half really had her eyes on today and spotted it. I retrieved it and the log was signed. Thanks sully1 for placing this cache.

Staying nearby, thought we would go for another walk to finish some more of the local caches .... Walking around Australia for Prostate and Breast Cancers

Quick stop for a couple of caches before making my way back home.
This one seems somewhat familiar but shows up on my screen as unfound.
Maybe found on a previous Ballarat trip and didn't log it.
Didn't have much trouble retrieving the log, but amazingly became busy when time to put it back.
TFTC, Cheers.

This was my first monthly trip with Biggles Bear for the year. It was my turn to drive, and therefore my pick for where to go. After 14 years of caching, I have only recently determined to complete my Difficulty/Terrain grid. Over the last few months I have reduced the deficit from around 5 to just one. And there was one near Ballarat that would complete my matrix, so out here we came.
Once my "must do" cache was found, everything else was a bonus. This was one of them. It took a few minutes of hunting before it was discovered. My thanks to sully1 for the cache.

Found 12:58:00 PM, whilst out with Muzza for our first joint caching expedition for 2016. Today we headed to Ballarat to allow Muzza to complete his terrain/difficulty grid.
TNLN, thanks sully1 (F=6440 H=63).

For two shortish people, this cache was a bit of a challenge to get. Took a bit of f searching and determination to get the cache, but soon it was in our hot little hands. Clever hiding spot, difficult to see. TFTC.

After having earmarked today a caching day with Poppet_93, we never expected the forecast of 40 degrees!!! We decided to set off early and hopefully beat the heat.
No:14 for today. I think we just might make our predetermined target of 20 caches before the Mercury tops 40 degrees! If not we might have to give up before we melt!!
We were just tall enough to retrieve this one. Well camouflaged.

Out with dad, kenbryl and kenare grabbing a few smileys for the day. This is my 200th find and thanks to dad for reaching this one for me. Tftc
First found this one in the middle of winter with my sister. We were in a group meeting in the car park and while waiting for everyone to come, found this one waiting to be logged. We jumped out and found it reasonably quickly. I did not have my name on the log and it has taken all this time to get back for it. I am blessed with ducks disease so a bit hard manage. Not many people around being so hot. TFTC
Found it! Once we followed the GPS to GZ a good search and this one was logged. Interesting history. Geodog enjoyed the walk and look about. TFTC
It was a lovely evening for caching, I drove asthma this area many times, but now I had an excuse to stop.. ..
We had to check the hint before we found it!. Tftc.

Day 2 at Smythesdale we headed out to find some of the local caches in town. We started with the Symbol Series Plus a few bonus caches.
This was a nice series to walk, the weather being a little kind meaning it wasn't raining but very cold.
Thanks for placing this cache sully1

Thought we should pick up a few caches after attending Saturday's events and before heading home. There were certainly plenty of caches to choose from! Found quickly by Mr Squalid and I was back in the car before you could blink! Bitterly cold today - that wind. We'll be back in summer.
Holidaying in Ballarat ... so just had to do some caching!
Also needed a find for my years cache finds calendar.
After being to Sovereign Hill yesterday, it was nice to see some more local history related to the gold rush. Mrs Seek3rs spotted this one!

Staying a few days in Ballarat on our tour of Australia.
Boy it is very cold here this week. Maximum of 10degrees. From Perth WA that is VERRRRYYYYY COLD. [8)]
We started our morning in the CBD then moved back towards our caravan park. Bit of a mixed bag out and about today but being soooo cold we didn't really stick around to do too much tourist stuff. We were frightened of being frozen to the paving.
The logbook was full here so we added a new one, whilst dodging the bus drivers using this area as their terminus.

This was a meeting place for an outing tonight and I was sitting in the car waiting for the others to get here when I realised there was a cache within a stones throw from us. My sister and I jumped out of the car and did a little searching and bingo, there it was. Too cold to get out and socialise but cant just ignore a smilie when its so close . TFTC
Nice find just on dark
this is another monument I would have passed 100's of times and never knew it was here
thanks to geo caching we discover our own city.

This one is no longer a film container, but we must say that the cache that is there blends in very well. SL TFTC
Geohubby had a seminar in town this afternoon and was catching the train from Melbourne after spending the morning at work. This of course would have meant a rather long walk home, so I decided to be magnanimous and offer him a lift home...to Geelong...which of course meant that I had the perfect excuse to spend the afternoon caching before he finished .
The weather wasn't exactly what I'd ordered, but it wasn't as wet as last time and the forecast snow hadn't arrived as yet so after a bracing coffee, I headed out. This was find number two as the rain looked set to continue for a while. I headed over for a look and hoped that the passing traffic was too busy concentrating on the slippery driving conditions to notice me. I made a relatively quick find, managed the retrieval and then battled one or two uncomfortable drafts as I replaced the log .
I was interested to read the history here as I have researched a little of it before.
Thanks sully1 for the history and the cache !

Have never stopped here before although have passed it on many occasions, very interesting history too. Cache located, but have decided (not for the first time) I am not tall at all, biggest problem was returning cache without looking suspicious to muggles carrying out their activities not far away, that was fun, but achieved. TFTC
Ballarat was our next stop on our meandering route from Adelaide to Melbourne to catch the boat back to Tassie. We spent a day caching in the area.
Initially we searched all around (not on) the memorial before expanding our search area further and finally locating the cache. When located, our GPS indicated that we were about 6m from GZ, just on the limit of accuracy of our unit. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks sully1 for the cache and for bringing us to this interesting and historic location.

Cache zombified.

I am sure I have visited this spot in my early caching days. No local muggles close by so I could search peacefully. Used the clue in the end and decided that I am not a tall person.

Found with sharkiefan
Spending the weekend in Ballarat, decisions were made to hit the Buninyong area and see how many smilies we could rack up.
After the hot day we had a rest and then grabbed a couple more on the way to get tea.
Took us a couple of minutes to locate this one. amazing what can be hidden in plain sight.

Is it hanging? I asked. Stood still and looked everywhere but immediately up. D'OH! Tftc
So, after celebrating harrowang's 2500th cache, we ordered dinner and decided to see what number WE were on - 146 it appeared, close to 150 so thought it would be cool if we could get to that on the same day they reached their milestone - and why not as we were in Ballarat to celebrate another milestone event of some friends - a wedding! Harrowang have done a lot of caching whilst visiting these particular friends' parents in Ballarat (also cachers), so they had a good idea which ones we should be able to get easily - and two of those were not far at all from where we'd ordered dinner, so it was out of the car again (the rain wasn't so hard by this time) and across the road, and there it was! Number 147 down... and still an hour and a half before the wedding.
A nice hide that took a few minutes to find. The caching tracks led us astray and we assumed it was where it was not. TFTC
Found at 1:15pm after the usual lunch stop at Beechworth Bakery, and on the way to the Grampians.

After being offered a weekend caching to and from Ballarat with Tounga and Moneydork, how could I refuse[?]
Sushilord joined us too and for 3 days we laughed and cached and laughed and cached until we could cache no more. [|)]
As for the topics of conversation, apparently mirth, maniacal murder and mayhem were the common themes for the weekend along with a few other topics
My total for a great weekend was 1 event attended in Ballarat , 113 cache finds 7 DNFs and a FTF as I wound my way home, alone, in the early morning
What a good way to start a day of caching!
A find and a history lesson combined
Luckily the boys are both taller than me.

Found on the weekend attack on Mexican caches by a couple of Kiwis and a couple of Aussies, surprisingly there were no slayings although we talked a lot about maniacal murders along the way.
Our first for the day. More interesting history.
Thanks for bringing us here sully1.

Found on a fantastic weekend away with Moneydork (Hero Husband), Locus Cache and Sushilord. It was not a quiet trip but oh so worth it! Lots of caching, lots of laughter and finally some sleep thrown in when we just couldn't carry on!
Thanks for your cache and helping make our weekend so great.

A couple of hours after kitten #1's netball final and the car park and general area was deserted making this a quick and easy find. The day was wonderfully sunny and the hide very neat. Kitten #2, not having the height requirements made an ascent to assist in recovery. Thanks sully1.
Found with our muggle brother while staying for two nights nearby. Tftc.
Found with DoorMatt during a lovely (freezing) day of adventuring and geocaching around Ballarat. Were practically kicking ourselves once we found it after taking too long seeking it out! TFTC
Found with Eminor93 on a geocaching trip to Ballarat. Took us a little while before spotting the obvious. Thanks for the cache.
Returning to a quick favourite with some TBs collected from QLD before dropping them off for a rest at a nearby TB hotel.
With a sense of deja vu, I returned to this familiar obelisk. There was no netball action and the area was completely deserted except for the cars passing by. These containers sure are ideal for this style of hide.
Thanks sully1 for the cache.

We had found the cache and were just about to make the grab when a council worker came along and drove his mower right up to where we were standing and proceeded to check the light at the monument. Of course we were already admiring the monument and reading the info board so no problems there. This chap was passionate about this monument and its maintenance, and also the history of gold in Ballarat, so we enjoyed a special 5 minute recital of its history, followed by recommendations for what do see on our "trip to Ballarat". He then moved on and we completed our mission. TFTC.
Found on a caching trip, trying to get away from the rain of Geelong, it worked til about 3pm when the rain finally came down. Arrived at GZ and thought wow this spot is cool. It was an awfully big carpark for such a monument. Thanks Sully1 for bringing us here, love this kind of thing. Cache was found easily, can't say I enjoyed the slap in the face by the branch while I was signing though, but that was my fault. TFTC...
Out with the geokids this morning looking for some "hidden treasures". This one took us a fair few minutes to find. Thanks
On a night on a mission to smash out caches in ballarat with geordiefamily and frog_lady.
