Day 2 - Labour weekend extended road trip with Kiwicampnut - relocated to stay south of the ditch.
Didnt stay long on the way back from the PWTG cache. With the current situation, I wonder how long it'll be before things are decentralised and small communities have a revival.
Thanks for the cache erninz

No waiting hete. A nice quick find. Jude_E and I are on another road trip. We stayed in Dunedin and Oamaru. Last night we stayed in Waimate .Thanks for hiding this cache erninz I appreciate it.
I'm sure I remember waiting in a train here for another to pass, some decades ago ! It is around about midway from Chch to Dunedin.
Thanks for this cache, erninz.
Thanks for this cache, erninz.
Probably should have read the description, as I didn't notice the history. TFTC.
Nice easy find in a very interesting area. My father has many summer holidays her back in the 1930/40’s. I am imagining Dad arriving at the station by steam train and standing on the platform with his older brother and younger sister with there cases. Their uncle would pick them up and take them to a nearby farm where they would stay for 2 weeks or so. I remember stories of fishing, rabbit hunting, feeding the chooks and collecting their eggs. He always referred to it as Studholme Junction and how he enjoyed the time with his uncle and Auntie. TFTH favourite point from me.
Heading home from picking up a car in Wellington. Off the ferry and heading home but had to get a few caches on the way. This was nice and easy to find TFTC
For our NZ visit we created a "wishful-thinking-to-do-list" ... knowing we can not do them all but we can at least try. Old caches, earth, virtual and webcam are on the top of our list... but also some traditionals, multi etc...
Today on our way to Christchurch and decided to stop for some caches along the road as we calculated that we should not have much time left considering the travel distance for today...
Quick find not really much left to see here...

Found with nissan 65. Flew in from sydney for a short holiday. Hoping to see as much as i can on the south island and pick up caches along the way . Thanku for the cache.
Found with StreetWalker on our Queens birthday weekend trip down south.
Good to have the time today to travel off the main road and find some caches on the back roads. Didn't take long to track this one down, it's been waiting patiently for nearly 7 years for us [:-)]. TFTC.

After travelling down to Waimate I was in need of a cache or two. Noted that this was one I had missed on my last visit down this way. TFTC.
JD and I were caching our way down to the Geofest and we passed a geocacher at St Mary's, we giggled to ourselves and stopped to grab this cache. After we'd signed it we were about to put it away when the cacher in question showed up. It was lovely to meet you Agazo and I'm glad we got to get more caches over the weekend
This was the eighth day of my driving trip down to Oamaru for Geofest 2017. I stopped every five to ten kms or so along the way to grab a cache. This expanded my driving time to a total of two weeks to get there and home again. I ended up going a total of 3,500 kms.
I knew I was getting close to my goal when I ran into two cachers already at GZ. Nice meeting you jess.daphne and Injeanious! TFTC.

Driving down to the event in Oamaru with Injeanious, we drove slowly and took some of the back roads to pick up some caches on our way. We signed the log as JeJe to save time and space. While signing the log we met another cacher also heading to Oamaru, TFTC!
Well I saw no patients and I did not need to particularly show any patience but in any case, we still used our best geocaching hunting ability to come up with this one. Good to get off the main road for a bit. Thanks for the cache, all is fine here.
Heading to Timaru for the weekend so a few caches to be found along the way. Quick detour off SH1 and a nice easy find but wasn't where I expected. TFTC
Easy find, but a pity we got bogged! A nice local helped us out but watch that grass on the side of the road - it's pretty swampy!
I have been planning this trip for a while now as I had some airpoints due to expire and wanted to go somewhere for Wellington Anniversary Weekend. So I've made it a 4 day weekend and come down from Palmerston North for a caching road trip. I have two goals for this weekend, to get to 2500 caches before 23 January as that is when I took up caching last year and to get caches on as many latitude minutes as possible that will hopefully qualify me for a challenge cache in the Manawatu. This is day 2 - Oamaru - Palmerston - Ashburton.
After spending the morning on a quick run to Palmerston and collecting a couple of must dos in Oamaru, I'm now heading back north to ashburton.
I missed this stretch of highway yesterday due to an accident diverting me through Waimate. Very quickly spotted this easy cache. Tftc

A quick find on the way home from caching trip over on the West coast. Thanks
Heading to Dunedin for the marathon tomorrow so spent the whole day travelling there collecting some caches alone the way. TFTC
On a trip south to head to the Higlanders Game on Saturday and collect some caches on the way. Quick easy find. Thanks for the cache.
On a mission around South Canterbury/North Otago. 114 found caches today. Thanks to all the CO's for their effort. Sorry about the cut and paste. TFTC.
I was down this way from CHCH to conduct a wedding. I had a bit of extra time budgeted into my travel today, so I decided to leave the beaten track and to grab a cache or two along the way. This was the first of my finds, and I drove to within 5m of GZ, a pretty straightforward find.

Cheers for the cache.

21:3 Awesome third find with the nephews today and they seem pretty happy with the whole adventure.
The plan was hatched a few years ago now and it has been a standing weekend away with a few of us mad keen cachers. This trip was made up of Karma Reprint, Team_Gaters and me (TheWanglers). We couldn't use a previous anagram to sign the logs as one member was in Aussie. So we had to come up with another... Hmm, KiTT? We decided on KiTT but after signing the first few logs something KR mentioned took a while for me to sink in and I didn't really take on board until the next time I signed the log. "Hey, the double 'TT' looks like Pi!". Oh, that's what KR said! So we signed the log this trip as KaTT pronounced 'Kapai'! And the trip was kapai!!! We had an epic weekend starting with a detour to Peel Forrest for a few FTFs, stopped in Omaru, thrashed Dunedin and detoured to Port Charmers for a FTF and then back to Pleasant Point and Peel Forrest to finish off the weekend with more FTFs. We got home to our families at a respectable hour after clocking up just over 1100km!
We had a few milestones we really wanted to crack. My 4000th, TG's 5000th and KR's 10,000th. We cracked my and KR's goal and got really close for TG. It really is about the numbers. This trip was awesome as it has given me some ideas
Quick find as I could see if from the road.
Thanks for the cache.

Cache number 50 for todays total of 123

Show weekend and a Road Trip to Dunedin with 'The Boys'....Karma Reprint & TheWanglers. Initially came up with the acronym KiTT but on seeing the TT looked like a Pi symbol we quickly changed to Ka(Pi) (ie. Kapai)....and a fantastic weekend it was. 3 days, 1100km, a heap of caches and great fun.
Quick find and sign along the way. Cheers.

Headed down south with C&D and 11HPG11 for the CHCH Mega as part of the HOAC team, and decided that a Mega road trip/Mega Mission was the right thing to do. After a great day caching from Dunedin to Omarama we manged to get a few hours sleep before the big day 2 started.
Day 2 was the start of a ambitious plan to try and find as many caches as possible in one day! To maximise our chances of a big number we decided a 24 hour caching day was the only way to go. What an epic day, and some great moments too. The rough idea was to cache from Omarama to Oamaru, and then head north towards Christchurch. A huge thanks to everyone for the cache placments, and I apologise for the copy and past logs.
Find #275 for the day.

This was the start of a MEGA caching weekend in the company of good caching friends. In the company of both HKCB & 11HPG11 this was going to be another memorable caching road trip for many reasons.
This is the mission that we had set ourselves up for several months back. It was HKCB's idea, I was just dumb enough to think it was a challenge and I'd be up for it, 11HPG11 was silly enough to come along for the ride once we confirmed a spare seat (Nova Lightening pulled out for family reasons).
We were going to try to beat the NZ one day record in New Zealand (it would have been easier with 4 people), so after 2.5hrs sleep after a good feed at Omarama we were ready to go. This was the number two hundred and seventy fifth on what was to be an epic day with what amounted to 401 caches collected for the day and about 38 DNF's. We managed this with 10minutes to spare but by this time we were done for and still had to drive back to Kaiapoi. All in all an epic days caching with good friends and something I don't think any of us will repeat in a hurry.
All in all it was going to be a big day with a number of challenges, great scenery, and of course great company. Fantastic driving along and up here as the landscape was so different from what we are used to back in the Waikato. One good thing about backroads being that we could continue our neferious activites without being disturbed by muggles.
Nice quick find here without any issues .
thanks for the placement , thanks for the cache

What a Mega Mission for a group of Hamilton Over Achievers! A great trip, a long time in the planning. I teamed up with Cats&Dragons and HKCB to grab a couple of caches while in Christchurch and surrounding areas for the 2015 Mega Event. We flew out from Auckland on Friday night and traveled to Dunedin in the dark of the night. Stopped for a few hours sleep before setting off to grab caches in the Otago area on Saturday before attempting a few more on Sunday and then arriving at the Mega on the Monday. An amazing, yet crazy road trip. Signed logs as HOAC to save room
When C&D mentioned a day with over 400 caches I should have turned and ran... instead I said yes, and here we are. 401 caches in 23 hours and 50 minutes. All done on about 2.5hr of sleep. It was hard work with only 3 of us and there were times that were hard and tiring but I still had a blast! An amazing experience that one has to be slightly crazy to even consider
Interesting area, thanks for bringing us here and placing caches for us to find

The geo-kids found this while out on an adventure with Captain Starship and Rayzr01 tftc
On our epic CANZ trip around the South Island. Have found Marlborough, Nelson, Tasman, West Coast and Canterbury, now heading south to Oamaru for a conference and then on to find Otago and Southland.
Today was a easy day with no pressure so we quietly geocached our way from Timaru to Oamaru, but as we were finding caches live with the iPhone it was bit difficult as cell coverage was patchy.
No 7 cache for the day. Mr S soon had this one in hand while Mrs S waited patiently in the Geomobile.
Did see a train earlier but not the people kind.
Thanks erninz. One more smilie in the SI.

having discovered on "Humming along" just back there... that we could look for another cache while navigating to another by using the cursor position and a bit of cacher dead reckoning with out disturbing the other route.. we stopped to have a go at this one.. lucky the cache was in the "likely" position so the lack of clues or description using this method didn't prove to be troublesome
Quick and easy.thanks

Another short detour to stretch legs and of course find a cache. Not to much left here with the cache being an easy find.
