Nup, gave up. Found 4 nails in the tree but I don't think any are usefull for finding the cache.

Couldn't find it today but in the area for a few days so may well be back for another look. Looks very much like someone has had their ponies tethered here... Lovely!!!

I don`t know how I`ve missed this hide last time .... Well placed anywya. Busy Sunday morning in Orewa. Cars parked almost at GZ! TFTC

25-Aug-18
I had nice conversation with old lady about tonight All Black game did not pay much attention to find this one as it was almost dark already. I will be back someday!

14-Aug-18
Awesome hide...just hope the tree doesn't grow to quickly lol...needed a tool of trade to xtract ..oh bother the logs full as...sorry I did have one with me or would have done it thanks Azza-ro for the great all round cache

14-Aug-18
We were just admiring the view when MacWatt disappeared. Came back smiling. I went there without looking at hints and name of log but came up short. Then looked at name of cache and went straight to host object and soon after the cunning hide. Log is overly full. Thanks for the placement azza-ro.

12-Aug-18
Good job just hard to get out

15-Jul-18
Third time here, but confident since it had been found just yesterday. Followed the hint properly this time, and spotted something almost right away. Very sneaky hide, TFTC

14-Jul-18
As so often seems to be the case, after our previous visit was a DNF we came back today for a second look and found the cache immediately. Not sure how we missed it last time but we are very pleased to turn it into a smiley.
Thanks azza-ro, very nicely hidden and quite unique. Well deserving of a favourite point.

29-Jun-18
....................had a check here as someone couldnt find it.
Yes is there - all OK.

23-Jun-18
We saw a very likely spot consistent with the hint but no luck for us today.
It’s possible the cache has again become embedded a little deeper than intended but we couldn’t spot it.
We’ll be back for a second try the next time we're in the area.

27-Apr-18
No luck today, bit blustery and the presence of an elderly walking group sat on the nearby wall prevented a prolonged search... The kids made a good attempt at providing distraction by cartwheeling and handstand in but we still came away empty handed. Headed to the surf club for the start of the oceanswim swim camp...

25-Apr-18
Apart from getting dizzy from walking around in circles, nothing else was achieved Sad

29-Mar-18
As this was last found in December we thought it should be checked. Somehow the cache had got wedged in very tight and inaccessible. Anyway its all good again now.

20-Feb-18
Nice place, warm and windy. Unfortunately, we did not find the horkrux, but the tree is amazing.

31-Dec-17
Team Beer and young niece-to-be are 2/2 now haha. Luckily with her, she can be her kid self running around the tree to purposefully act as a distraction while we both search. Had to use a stiff natural tool to help us get it out though haha bc perhaps the tree is still growing and making this sit very tight.

The waterproof log is completely full though, but could make room for an additional one rolled up in it. Thanks! I'm glad that the niece-to-be is interested in this since her auntie isn't as much in doing it with me .

06-Dec-17
No luck here despite searching long and hard twice.

15-Nov-17
We had the great chance to travel around New Zealand during six weeks and were able to see wonderful cities, landscapes and meet nice Kiwis. While staying in NZ many cache owners gave us the opportunity to search for very well hidden treasures and we thank them very much for preparing and maintaining them.
Unfortunately we could not find this one. It was too well hidden for us.
Greetings from Swiss geocachers

07-Nov-17
Very Very nice hide pick this one up with ABCDF4

22-Oct-17
Popped up to meet KrystalKath’s rellies for brunch. Parked here as an ideal place to park the campervan. Oh wow there’s a geocache right here, but not to be unfortunately. Searched in all the hinty spots to no avail. Perhaps another time as we also discovered Freedom Camping spots here and Hadfield Beach.

15-Oct-17
Too cold for little scrawny aussies too spend enough time searching

30-Aug-17
Very clever. Taking cover from the rain hopefully deceived any muggle eyes.

31-Jul-17
Took some time...sneaky thing. Smile
Thanks!!

Finally! This was my second attempt at finding this cache and I finally nailed it! Unfortunately I forgot a pen to log it, but next time I'm passing will sign the log sheet. Very very clever!

15-Jul-17
Took us a while to find. The spot we thought it was located in was totally off. Log book full. TFTC

08-Jun-17
Find #800 and what a great one. Hint spot on and used geokid to create a diversion due to the muggles around while I mounted a careful search. After finding a couple of "interesting" items that turned out to be nothing significant I then found something more promising and soon retrieved the cache. As others have said log full but managed to squeeze a signature in. FP awarded for the clever hide, well worthy of this milestone. TB visit too. TFTC!

04-Jun-17
Merlot58, Aiden29 and ourselves returned to the sunny Orewa to collect some new caches that had been published since the last time we had been up here. Well hidden. The log was full.

04-Jun-17
This was a very sneaky hide. Merlot58 sat back and watched us search for this cache, as she had previously found this one. Luckily Mrs Jag50 spotted the hide after a short search.

03-Jun-17
Staying nearby and doing a few local caches. Nicely hidden on a lovely spot. Even when looking it was well hidden. Log book full. Tftc.

Turned out to be a much quicker find than I was anticipating. Nice hide. Based here for the morning while Mr HowOnEarth runs the Orewa half marathon.

16-Apr-17
Came up here today with my sister and her son, Treye, from Australia, and his girlfriend, Trang, and my son Tim and Master SethRaven. We did encounter a few showers of rain but we walked the length of the Wenderholm beach and then we nabbed a few caches. This was the last cache we searched for this afternoon and it did not want to present itself and we had run out of daylight . . . . . we tried with a cell phone light but still nothing Sad sadly we headed off home without this last one.

08-Apr-17
Got it today on day one of our holiday up north to Tawharanui. This took us a while to find but eventually came up with the goods. Log is full and will need replacement.

07-Apr-17
We have been on holiday in party of 25 campervans with the Caravan Club from England and have tried to find at least one geocache in each place we have stopped - had a fair amount of luck and the map of New Zealand should show our journey. Thanks to you all for leaving them for us to find.
We nailed it too !!

14-Mar-17

31-Dec-16
First of six located in the Orewa area today. A few people nearby but no-one particularly interested in our inspection of the tree. Didn’t take too long to find. #1347. TFTC.

24-Dec-16
The good hint meant we found this cache quickly. Impressive tree! Tftc

23-Dec-16
A clever cache and impressive tree. Many thanks.

16-Dec-16
I spotted the cache quickly, the hardest part was keeping out of sight of the 2 Wastemaster workers parked in their truck in the shade of the tree! Thankfully they were more interested in their phones. I had to pop back to my car for a tool to get the log out, then managed to sneak the cache back unnoticed. Nice hide

13-Nov-16
Wow hardest yet, never gave up but a very clever cache. Good luck

27-Oct-16

23-Jul-16
The kids played at the playground while we hunted for this one. They were pleased to get a long play here. I was beginning to think this would be a DNF when my buddy finally spotted the clever hide. Woohoo we nailed it!! Thanks for this great hide Smile

17-Jul-16
Could not find today. Will try again another time

03-Jul-16
#2413. Catching up on a weeks worth of cache logs as I haven't been near the internet in that time. This was the first stop as we headed north to attend a meeting up at Tawharanui. I had stopped by here 18 months ago with the family and we searched everywhere without success. But reading back through the logs it seems it was missing at the time. Well today I checked the hint and that narrowed down the options. Its certainly is a spectacular tree. While my muggle friend headed off to find the public conveniences, I had spied the hide, extracted the cache and signed the log. He was certainly impressed by the subtleness of this hiding spot. Well done. Pleased to convert this one to a smiley. Thanks for the cache.

21-May-16
My partner and I were in the area today to find somewhere new to have lunch. The weather was not so great, but that did not stop us going out for a stroll along the beach. Along the way we spotted a large washed up jellyfish, about the size of a dinner plate, pretty cool. I pulled out my phone as my GPS did not have caches in the area loaded up and this seemed not to be too far away, apart from the fact that my phone had me way in the ocean. Using maps and a little logic we arrived at GZ and quickly spotted something. Yup there was the cache. Thanks so much for the cache and hide, this is a great place for a cache. Everything is in good condition and I replaced exactly as found. #553

13-Mar-16
On our way to the North we took a detour via Orewa. Had a bath in sea, enjoyed the embrassing surrounding and at least we looked for a cache.
At first step I was unsuccsesful. But when we leaved, my muggle partner helped me and the found the clever hidden container.

TFTC, hike_biker from Germany.

Found on Holiday

28-Feb-16
On our way to Auckland with China doll, when we parked at the front, and was told there is a cache nearby, do you want to get it, we said yes and pointed in the right direction. With a little help we found it and signed the log. This deserves a favourite point from us. Tftc

22-Feb-16
We had just had a lovely picnic lunch on our way north and found there were some caches waiting to be found!! There weren't too many people around so could wander around fairly easily. Mr CD noticed the cunning hide and retrieved it. Definitely a favourite point. TFTC

27-Dec-15
Beautiful day here at the Beach, VERY busy today, full in fact !
Grabbed this one on leaving after half the crowd had gone home.

16-Dec-15
Headed out to Waiwera Spa today and grabbed a few caches along the way there and back. Mycro Man thoroughly enjoyed the spa. Great hide, took a while to spot even knowing what we were looking for. Thanks for all the caches along the way,

Did with Crystal Fairy.

Not as hard as we thought. Thanks.

I visited this cache with a group of ten students and a muggle teacher from St John’s College in Hamilton as part of their camp week. Over four days and three nights we visited Orewa, Whangaparoa, Waiwera, Whangarei, Paihia, Waitangi and Russel. We generally signed the logs SJC GEO Camp to save each student needing to sign the log. The boys literally ran from Geocache to Geocache trying to beat each other to the find. By the second to last day they had all at least found one cache each. They all seemed to enjoy the experience and hopefully will decide to keep Geocaching as a consequence. We found a great variety of caches in some amazing spots. A huge thanks to all the CO’s for placing and maintaining all the caches we found.

We decided to go for a walk down the beech to start off day two. I was worried about the difficulty rating but a large group provided good cover for a search. Thankfully it didn't take to long to find, and the boys were pretty impressed with this neat little cache.

29-Nov-15
Very busy at the Gipsy Market! It's well hidden. TFTC!

12-Nov-15
When I saw it was a four star difficulty, I almost kept going, but I am pleased I didn't, as I nailed it. I circled the area and then I spotted it. I 'marked' the spot while I signed the log, and then returned it back to the same hide. Clever hide. TFTC azza-ro.

09-Jun-15
I discovered, to my dismay, that my car battery was well and truly flat this morning. After getting some help to get it started I was left with the task of driving around to recharge the battery. Well, nothing for it but a long drive up the motorway followed by some park and grabs to get things make in full working order. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it!

With the battery recharged and the tank all gased up it was time to tackle something other than park and grabs. Though I did manage to park nice and close to GZ here. The coordinates were very good and after checking a couple of spots I detected the trickery little hide. Nicely done. Cheers for the cache placement!

22-May-15
Excellent hide. TFTC from a pair of aussie cachers
