Day 17 of my fortnight+ road trip up to Brisbane and back to Blue Mountains. One more day left. Many GC challenges achieved, favourited hides visited, random selected geocaches attempted (mostly smileys). A beaut road trip in short.Early today in Inverell LGA for several finds. This was my first find in this shire. TFTC HoSports, this being my 2365 find.
#8227Back o Bourke Day 4! Inverell-Armidale, via Kyogle. Were on a road-trip chasing some LGAs we need between Coonamble and Kyogle, via Bourke. The car is packed with TOTTs and snacks and we are prepared for long drives and short walks, hoping to gather the required LGAs, hopefully finding fun caches that contribute to various challenges and goals we are working towards. On our way to Glen Innes this was a quick stop and a quick find. The sturdy container and contents were in good condition. Thanks for the cache.
#8227Day 3 of our Northern/Western NSW Roadtrip.Bourke -> Inverell via 2 missing LGAs.A very long day of driving with minimal caches, upwards of 350km stretches of plain old nothing! Basically grabbing anything we can! end of copy paste Quick find here in the obvious spot. Nicely made container, all in perfect condition. TNLN SLThanks for placing and maintaining this cache HoSports
Thank you for the cache quick stop on the way home to Taree from an Inverell fossicking trip. Took the trackable to move on.
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Making our way to Broken Hill for Mundi Mundi Bash. today we moved from Stanthorpe to Inverell. Managed to stop here with the caravan on tow.We found this cache today. TFTC HoSports
While stopped at some roadworks a fellow traveler informed us our brake lights were not working, so while Mr SKI rectified this Mrs SKI went off and found the cache. No one else about so we had the stop to ourselves.Today we undertook a short move from Inverell to Glen Innes on an overcast and cool day. We picked up a couple of caches en route but took time on arrival to walk the main street and admire all the older buildings and the range of retail outlets on offer. We live in a town of very similar size, but only developed over relatively recent times, and cannot boast town centre Glen Innes can.We picked up a number of caches later in the afternoon and finished our exploring at the Standing Stones. A great feature with its adjoining lookout.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache HoSports.**SKI Pair****
Had to avoid a couple of muggles, curious to see where we were off to. Eventually they disappeared and we made the find.
Caching with Oddiewan with the Cache Crusader in tow. Were picking up caches in new-to-us LGAs in northern NSW on a four day weekend. The ground scrub is full of Farmers friends but the find was easily made. A great little roadside rest stop. Thanks for the fun, HoSports
LGA hopping this weekend Caching with my partner SemikThanks for the cacheHoSports26 April 2024
This probably would have been easier if we had shoes on, but by the time we realised it was too late to go back to the car. Or so we told ourselves. Thanks for the cache!
Arrived in town ahead of schedule so another cache was put on the to-do list! A slight detour but the teen is logging her learners hours so didnt might the 20min trip for a cache! Thats a first, so deserves a FP
We found this cache while on our way to Inverell. The rest area was a nice spot to stop for lunch so while that was being made I found the cache.TFTC
Found on rainy day with family. Great spot. Some not kid friendly finds in cache, removed & binned. Good size cache to leave decent swaps. Leave your rubbish out of it please, ya filthy animal. TFTC
Out and about caching and this was one cache where I stopped to find. After a short search around cache was found and log book signed. Cache placed back where found. TFTC

On our way to Inverell, we stopped here for this cache. Excellent coordinates led to a quick find. Loved the creek under the bridge here. This is the sort of place you would expect to see a platypus. I've never seen a real one in the wild.
Adding a Gave Point for the location it brought me to and for the excellent cache container. Thanks for the geo-fun.

I've stopped at this rest area once before and thought I'd seen a cache was here but when I arrived I found myself out of service area and was unable to load it.
Today knowing I'd be passing i made sure to load and save the details in advance. Last time I did search a few likely spots but having now found it I realise I didn't search a wide enough area.
Good to see such a goodly sized stash box but was befuddled at some peoples idea of swappable... a used disposable nicotine vape? Really?!
Thanks for hiding one here HoSports , it was a great opportunity to stretch the legs and of course a smiley is always a bonus.

After spending a few days at Coolangatta, week 2 of my road trip to the north and west of the state began today with a drive to Inverell via Lismore (to pick up my travelling companion), Casino, Tenterfield and Glen Innes ... with a few caching stops along the way.
Stopped to stretch the legs here and had no problems making the find, though most of the work was done by GazaC who had been smart enough to save the cache off-line before we lost mobile reception ... but then, that's his job as navigator!
Thanks for placing this cache here HoSports.

Thanks for placing this cache here HoSports.
We thought it was a bit muggley at first but soon discovered we got away with it and had a shared love of dogs.
Good hide thanks HoSports

Found with Mummypenny and then had a chat about geocaches and dogs with another group who'd stopped for a break. Thanks HoSports.
I was in the general area for work and decided to drop in and grab this cache.
I parked up as close as I could and cautiously made my way to GZ - making as much noise as possible in case of things that slither might be about.
I arrived at GZ and changed my angle a couple of times before I spotted the beast. It was in good condition. Good to see such a handsome sized container out here. TFTC HoSports

Day 1 of 3 of our trip from Caboolture South to Armidale.
We’ve discussed doing this trip for some time now and it’s a wonderful feeling to be doing it. I love the drive and I get to enjoy the experience with my beautiful fiancé.
Our plan for this trip was to find as many caches as possible and try and grab a cache in ever LGA on the way down to break our previous record, which is 5, and I think we smashed that!
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and enjoyed stopping off at each and every location along the way. It truely is a beautiful, scenic drive.
Thanks goes to the CO for placing this cache for us to enjoy.
Thanks for bringing us here.

After a long day checking out Inverell we spent the night here near Rover’s Rest. Great spot for an overnighter, and once the 5 other travelers had left we found this cache. Tftc
Tftc , made a quick find here on our way from Inverell to the Stanthorpe showground where we will stay for a few nights
Easy find, although some of the geotrails are misleading (mustn’t be geotrails after all!! Lol). Found by the geodaughter. TFTC
Had to wander around a bit following the compass which was ultimately spot on. Much bigger than I imagined Tftc
Crookedpete and I were given leave passes from our respective families for the Easter long weekend for a geocaching road trip. I suspect that this was our families' Easter present to themselves to have a weekend alone without our company .
As members of The Bromance geocaching collective, we are a rather contrarian bunch, so while the main geocaching action was apparently up north over Easter we decided to instead head south from Brisbane. Our main focus was on caches with lots of favourites, good DT combinations, high elevation or sitting sad and neglected with no visitors for an extended period.
Although it was only mid afternoon when we arrived here it was clear that a number of caravaners had set themselves up for the night in the carpark. Sadly we still had a fair bit of distance to cover before we could consider where we would lay our heads tonight. Instead we headed over to GZ while the muggles chatted amongst themselves. Another extensive collection of cobblers pegs were gathered on the walk over (I think I have spent half the day picking them off my clothes so far today). We scratched around in a few locations before the cache was uncovered and the logbook signed. TFTC

Instead of heading north for Easter, Seffnjarah and I planned a long weekend road trip collecting interesting caches and doing some bushwalks as we meandered our way south to Armidale and surrounds.
We are roughing it on this trip - a swag beside the car for me and a small tent for Seff. This spot appealed as a pleasant place to rest for the night. Clearly other travellers thought so as well. It was a little early for us to stop though, so after adding to the prickle collection my socks are gathering, the find was quickly made. No reptiles were discovered thankfully.
Many thanks HoSports

Found this one when travelled from Glen Innes to Inverell today. We earmarked where we thought it might be and headed there. Expanded our search and the GPS wanted us a bit over there. Just needed to look from the right angle. There it was and we gladly signed the log.
Cheers and happy caching!

I found this geocache on a mystical journey from South Australia, through Victoria, New South Wales and back again.
I did log all of the caches on my handheld GPS however some of the logs did not sychronise properly so I apologise for the generic log on these caches, which are the ones that didn't log proprly from my GPS.
I had a fantastic journey and thank you for placing and maintaining your geocache or earthcache for visitors like me.

On a big road trip with Kittykatch Joolay and Barb2e. Currently coming back from the Dayboro Mega. Sometimes signing as Capital Crunchers depending on space.
Didn't have reception when we were at the cache, so logging at night.
But did find a frog in the sink.

Back to NSW and on our way south and yet for another county. Found with Joolay, Kittykatch and Isopeda. Tftc
Quick trip here to pick up the county before staying in Glen Innes for the night. So good to stop for a break.
So cool to have made it to the Mega now to get the caches we spent months solving and other nearby caches. On our way home now via Toowoomba.
On a trip north to get to Dayboro with Kittykatch, Isopeda and Barb2e. Been lots of fun and laughs.
Signing via stamp as Capital Crunchers.

Easter trip away (in the hopes of getting into Qld) with fitzy_1965 for the cacheQLD Dayboro Mega.
After leaving home yesterday afternoon, this was our first full day of caching with the aim of heading north whilst county hopping along the way.
Was definitely warying truding through the grass here but managed to stay out of the sight of nearby campers.

23,886. Found with minniek on our Dayboro QLD MEGA Adventure trip.
With the sudden COVID outbreak in Queensland putting the Mega in doubt we decided to head up to the New South Wales / Queensland border and see what happens, while developing a Plan B (Longreach region) and a Plan C (New South Wales counties loop) ! Day 2. An early start today with an aim of caching our way through some counties and spending the night in Tenterfield. Everything went according to plan which made for a great days travel and caching, with some wonderful places visited. This was the next stop for the day, and after the short detour out here for this cache and county, it was another nice quick find by minniek. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then continued on up the highway.
Thanks HoSports !!

Stopped here on our way west such a port spot. Trudged through the long grass and the thought of snakes was a constant in our minds. Anyway we found it tftc and thanks for the adventure
Swan Brook is such a pretty place. No muggles today with a warm 31 degrees, but I have seen many grey nomads overnighting here in my previous travels past. I wonder if there is any trout in the brook ? tftc
Relatively quick and easy find. Although not the biggest fan of walking through long grass in summer.
On a trip with teamMerlin and TARDIS 0061 into regional NSW a lot of kms were covered in a few days. Today we got to 13 caches found and a number of LGAs hadn't been to before
With cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for bringing me to the area and thanks for placing the cache HoSports

As per Footy Fanatics log we stopped to do this cache on our way from sincerely to Armidale via Glen Innes and the trout hatchery close to Ebor. Such a good time had by all. TFTC
Found it on a sunny Tuesday while visiting the area with evangt and pdbunce. Quick find while keeping an eye out for snakes. TFTC

Oh what a trip! We finally bit off more than we could chew but it still somehow managed to end well!
Aquilus1 and myself have been striving on a mission for some time now... to get ALL the counties in NSW. We did the hard ones early actually, via two trips flying to Adelaide and driving to Sydney/Melbourne respectively. The previous trip was a simple Newcastle loop, so....finally the time had come....six months overdue because of Covid lockdowns to complete the last loop: Armidale/Ballina.
Of course, its not just about the counties, we crammed in a bunch of larges, DT, virtuals and even a Wherigo.
Day -30: Qantas screw us over and cancel our Armidale flight.... so a frenzied replan and Qantas agree to fly us to Ballina instead....bonus is that the car hire from Ballina comes with UNLIMITED km's.... this is great as we knew we would exceed the max by about 1200km...not cheap!
Day 1: We fly into Ballina, marvel at the super crap roads and all the people not working, but exercising, without shirts, in and around Byron. So glad my tax dollars support these people! After driving north to scary cow country we went west and made it as far as Tenterfield, but not before we got an amazing surprise FTF on a challenge cache in Casino....happy days! Yet another crazy late night pizza guy, and a lovely motel manager who had the BEST beds in NSW greeted us.
Day 2: Tenterfield to Tamworth, the long way, via Moree. Long drive through windmill country with some amazing walks for oldies and great views of cool mountains.....we said to ourselves "wow, look at that, there should be an Earthcache here that we could log fro the road".... and there WAS!!! We repeated this trick on day 3 as well. Got to love that. Outside Moree we found piles of various grains at the rest stop.... I wonder what that was about.
Day 3: Tamworth to Kempsey, we saw Armidale on Sunday... so quiet, but a great Virtual and a ridiculous journey through head high grass....for someone with allergies this was nuts! We managed a tricky challenge cache series and a multi that required Aquilus1 to go crazy high on a tree.... that ladder was well worth it yet again!
Day 4: More larges and then a great paddle for some great DT. The water at Stuarts Point was so nice, we kept going and going.....which in hindsight maybe wasnt the best idea, but we knew how far we had to get, and how much time we had.... the windy roads then roadworks however messed those plans up. 15 minutes late, watching them start to load the plane we werent on just sucked.... but, the HJ's (and our desperation) fueled the many new plans until Plan 'F', for fabulous, came to fruition.
We made it home, a little later than expected with slightly grumpier partners than ideal.... but we made it! Planes, trains & automobiles in the end..... so glad we didnt have to walk from Goulburn!

GreyHams and myself have been targeting counties for some time now and this trip was to be the last of the NSW counties... It would see ALL NSW counties complete!
It sure has taken us through some amazing places in the state as we journeyed through all of the counties, this trip would see the last 23 counties needed of the 129. One again we saw a lot of variety over the four days from the scenic coast, lush green country side, rainforest, mountains and out west to a much drier and flatter landscape.
Counties were our priority for this trip, and an abundance of larges also made the select list, Virtuals, types, old ones, interesting ones and of course DT, if your cache made this list it had a quality that was needed... we also managed a surprise FTF along the way as well!
It wouldn't be a trip without the ladder, or the esky... and good old Qantas happily checked them in with our bags!
Day 1 saw us flying into Ballina, driving North up through Byron, a beautiful part of the coastline where shirts and shoes are optional! After a dash up a hill, it was along the beach to the most easterly cache of Australia, a clamber up the side of the headland for an earthcache and time for a virtual. Driving north to Mooball for our most northerly county and then back down and across to Tenterfield, arriving after a surprise FTF and a long winding drive through the hills where we stopped for the night. Chose our hotel for the man sleeping on the sign, and as advertised, the best beds, and indeed I did sleep as well... the quietest hotel in town where everyone was sleeping and the lady working there the loveliest... and the best Pizza we will ever taste in town!
Day 2 we left Tenterfield with a wave of a local horseman and made our way west to Moree before dropping down and driving to Tamworth for the night. Some unexpected locations along the way had us saying 'there has to be an earth cache on that!' and indeed dropping out of our lists there was and a few extra locations stopped at and enjoyed.
Day 3 was the trip from Tamworth, up to Armidale and back down again to drive across to Port Macquarie before starting our way north to stop in Kempsey. Some interesting caches and tracks, and the good little SUV was the toughest and most reliable of them all for some of the tracks that were lost in the highest of grass and the pollen of the grass seeds that left clouds in the sky as we passed. A trail of challenge caches tested the little car some more and GreyHams navigated us through with ease. The ladder had a work out and some great caches collected for the day with it.
Day 4 we left Kempsey with the plan of driving back to Ballina for our planes back home. Some newer larges had us down some more bumpy wet tracks, some a little more than we could navigate so a short walk to finish. Very tropical with the mountains, even banana trees and so much sugar cane too. A kayak for great DT was indeed a great addition. Also our down fall as the drive was long, the roadworks a plenty and our plane due, it was a rush and many cache changes to ones along the hwy as we raced north for our plane. Just 15 minutes late and watched as everyone else boarded but us. Getting home wasn't so simple, we got to plan 'F' and a journey of planes, trains and automobiles to get us home, but what a great trip!!!!
GreyHams was as always a great companion, driver, navigator, cache finder, planner, ladder carrier, disaster management solver on another very enjoyable trip, NSW counties complete... go team!!! Looking forward to the next adventure!
CACHE DETAILS: Took a moment but no missing it when in the right spot! Great container!

Day 5 of a 7 day trip from Canberra to Bourke, to Narrabri, to Armidale and back to Canberra. The main goal (apart from having a break from working from home) is to collect counties, and see some of NSW I haven't been to before. Cache soon found. TFTC.

Found with Flick and Flim while on our way back to Armidale. Lovely clean camping place for those carrying their own homes.

Found during a road trip from Adelaide via Broken Hill, Cobar, Bourke, Walgett, Glen Innes, Tenterfield and Lismore and on to Brisbane. Thanks for the cache HoSports!
Another find on our epic trip. Conveniently we had the house on wheels with us and a side trip is never a problem as we can stay pretty much anywhere. Another one sorted and it’s back to the main game.

466 of 1266 kilometres into my journey from Brisbane to Sydney.
I took a bit of a detour (50km) from my journey so I could get a cache in an adjacent LGA. No muggles to worry about bright and early this morning, so I took a leisurely stroll to GZ and soon spotted the cache out in the open. After depositing my TB, I placed back where it should be. TFTC.
